After an argument with a right knob (father), I suggested the following. The Commuity Shield as it is now known had always been played between the winners of the league and the FA Cup. In years gone by and more recent it's the same team doing a double, so I suggested that it should be the league winners v the league cup winners if this happens?

I have to say that I have to be classed as a knob too as I agree with your father and it should be the team who came second in the league.

2.) 03 Aug 2023 21:42:11
Can make an argument for both.

It would make the League Cup slightly more appealing.

But what better way to start a league campaign, playing against the team you were pipped by.

Is there a charity shield this year? Is it Fa Cup runners up or league runners up v City or is it a City 1st 11 v a City 2nd 11.

Taffy Duck

{Ed001's Note - City v Arsenal judging by the TV ads I have seen for it.}

If owners own multiple clubs that play in different leagues or counties, is there any rules about loaning or selling and buying players between them?

Taffy Duck

{Ed002's Note - Yes. There are rules about buying/selling and European competitions- loans are fine.}

1.) 29 Jul 2023 17:04:42
How long or short can loans be? For example if City had won the league etc with 5 games to go, could they then loan Haland to one of their other teams that had a cup final coming up for the rest of that season?

{Ed002's Note - No, you can only register players when the transfer window is open.}

Suppose the only exception is emergency cover because of injuries?

The Scum seem to be running a story that we Hojland is too expensive. There is a lot of talk we may now move for Muani. I have never seen either play so what's your thoughts if you have?

Taffy Duck

1.) 20 Jul 2023 11:24:07
My thoughts are that muani is supposedly more expensive than hojlund so makes 0 sense.

2.) 20 Jul 2023 11:38:39
Exactly what I was thinking. Why would our alternative to a player we deem too expensive, actually cost more. Makes no sense.

3.) 20 Jul 2023 11:53:44
Just rumours dudes.

4.) 20 Jul 2023 13:06:34
Muani too expensive.

If we have to pay £70m for a striker, we’ll probably switch to the more established Ramos.

5.) 20 Jul 2023 17:42:09
Ramos would have been my choice out of all three tbh.

Did Woodward make the decisions on signing Diallo, Pellistri, Anthony and Sancho to all play on the right wing?

Taffy Duck

1.) 12 Jul 2023 11:19:11
3 of the 4.

2.) 12 Jul 2023 13:23:45
Yep all Woodwards decision to sign Facundo Pellistri as he is known to be a keen observer of Uruguyan football.

3.) 12 Jul 2023 14:36:51
Sancho was brought to solve the right side, unfortunately he has not been able to nail down the position and depending on your view he plays better off the left.
Antony was not brought by Woodward so can't take the credit of the blame depending on your view (I think he is going to have a break out year now he has settled)
Diallo (could be a big price in the end) and Pellestri (not expensive) were young options who can play in positions across the front 3 or AM. If one of these work we have done well, currently I prefer Pellestri as back up to Antony.
Aside from the above Woodward is just doing the deal, the decision to go for these players will be on the manager/ scouting team etc.

Maybe I am naive, did not think Ole had much choice in who was purchased? Seems ETH has more of a say?

Wonder why no club from Saudi Arabia have come in for Maguire? £200000 a week is pittance for them, £3000000 is nothing on a fee. Apart from a few older players he should be able to find he’s on a par with the rest of the players in that league.

I think wit ETH that Donny any show why we paid for him. There is a very good player in there, just needs the time and set up to show it.

Maybe Ten Hag wants him, maybe he wants someone else? All I know is that if Hojlund has accepted any terms with PSG, then in my humble opinion we should stay clear. I only want players who want to play for us 100%, not someone who will go to any club.

In a way it’s like owning a car. Something goes wrong and you pay for it to be fixed. However if you don’t keep it serviced and well maintained you are just chucking money at it. The Glazers are happy to throw money at what they are told are problems, but are not doing what needs to be done day to day to keep the club good.

Bringing him back would have taken some of the heat of Maguire for a while.
