Tough game ahead on Saturday.
A repeat of last week would see us beaten against spurs.
Interesting to see if we set up differently.
I always prefer Rashford coming in from the left so I hope he stays out there instead of garnacho.
Midfield was wide open last week I wonder how that dynamic will change.

Eriksen or dare i say it even Mctominay will have to come in next to Casemiro with bruno on the right wing. Rashford on the left and Sancho false 9.

If we give Maddison/ Kulusevski the same amount of space we gave Wolves players we will get punished.

Me too thinks Bruno will go on right, with mctominay coming in. Can't be that open again, get murdered. just know a few spurs supporters worry about their right full back leaving loads of space, surely Rashford on left. well see but I'd happily take a 1-1 right now.

I wouldn't be happy with a draw.
I wonder if he will move mount wide not Bruno. Hard to know.
Looking forward to it anyway.

Seems to be a fear of Tottenham for some reason? They have an appalling midfield themselves, and are still struggling at CB. Son has been quality but not for a while. I'd say we should be shading this but home advantage might dictate.

I think this is a game that we need to solidify the midfield a bit more and likely what Mainoo would have been used for.
I think We drop Mount/ Fernandes deeper alongside Casimero. I would be happy with Sancho false 9 or Martial if fit as we need Rashford off the left with Garnacho as impact sub.
I think Spurs this year will be high energy and will cause us problems but will be susceptible to our attack if we can be more on it than the first game.
For what it's worth I hate Monday night fixtures and first games in general so to get a win was all that mattered.

We need to at least start with two holding, Madison will use the space otherwise. If we have to put McT in along Cas, which is likely that is damning on our slow recruitment. Is Mount strong enough deeper? We can’t be wide open like Monday or it will be a cricket score, even though it’s Spurs. Start tight and grow into the game. Rash pace will be key but if Mount and Bruno are stood next to each other near Rash having a nice cup of tea, it will spell trouble.

Come on lads. It’s Spurs.

We 'need to do what the manager wants us to do'

Spurs played well against Brentford, but made a few mistakes in defence. This will be a tough game, based on what they did last weekend I'd expect Spurs to play with a focus of trying to play through the centre of the pitch rather than trying to go wide.

If we set up the same as we didn't against Wolves and Casemiro isolated then Spurs will score a hat full against us, they aren't as wasteful as Wolves in front of goal. Maddison will be the key player, if we can cut him off then we will reduce their creativity.

Defensively Spurs look a little suspect and prone to individual errors, if we can control the ball and put them under pressure then they will make mistakes and create openings for us.

But first and foremost we need to match them in terms of work rate, intensity and sharpness. we cannot afford to be as sloppy against then as we were against Wolves or we will lose.

Why do we put our “best” player on the right? Does Ten Hag rate Bruno?

It's Spurs. They're a mid-table team. These are the fixtures we should be winning.

We made mistakes on Monday which I fully expect the manager to rectify. We're still missing bite up-front but we have the players needed to control the game and I fully expect a win if we keep them quiet for the first 20 minutes.

I've been really disappointed with the recruitment this summer.
I think the team is really unbalanced. The blueprint was there from last season. We needed a proven goal scorer, a younger casemiro, a younger varane and a younger eriksen. Utd have lacked a midfielder who can dictate the tempo of a game since Carrick. Eriksen did well last year but he's not mobile enough.
I rate mason mount, think he's a good player but I just don't see how he fits this team, unless he's played on the right hand side. I'm baffled how we have set up tactically for this year.
As wolves showed and from pre season, any team who has runners in their midfield will just over run us. Casemiro hasn't the legs to cover and with bruno and mount playing so high we are sitting ducks.
Ten hag has worked wonders at the moment but I do believe his recruitment has to be questioned. The pavard interest is bizarre aswel.
I'm hoping we go back to the tactics used last year against spurs with the manager having the bottle to play bruno as the 10 in his best position rather than shifting him else where to accommodate other players. Rashford to should be used from the left as he just doesn't offer enough as the leading striker, in my opinion.

Wazza:
“ It's Spurs. They're a mid-table team. These are the fixtures we should be winning. ”
Lots on here wrote off Wolves, some even suggesting they’re relegation fodder. We should have lost that game on the balance of play.

Wazza, until United put a few decent performances together I don't think we have the right to write anyone off.

Based on last week's performance, we are a mid table team as well.

Spurs players will be determined to put on a good post Kane display in front of their own fans. Richarlison and Son are good strikers and far better than Wolves had. If we lose the midfield battle we will lose heavily.

Hopefully the players this week have had it drilled into them to stick with the managers tactic and not wander off leavinf their assignment and thus kept getting opened up by the very thing the original plan is designed to stop.

The viewing of that gam e would have been very uncomfortable for a lot of them.

Spurs forst game at home. We will not get anything put of the game, if we go put like last week. They are better than wolves and have players up front who will hurt you.

Hope we are compact in midfield with bodies and no new experiments.
