I didn't watch the game so cannot comment on the performance.

I saw the teamsheet and opted to not watch the game as I had very low expectations of us putting in a decent performance and taking home 3pts.

I feel refreshed for prioritising my sleep for once.

You look at a timesheet and decide not to watch a game? ?

We are 3rd, won 10, drew 3, and lost 2 in our last 15 games. I've thoroughly enjoyed this period, to be honest.

Yesterday, we played like a team that had nothing to play for. It is completely normal that there was a drop off in levels.

Overall, we are in a great position looking into the summer window.

Also, I see Ederson looks like he may be coming our way. I don't know much about him, but he seems to be highly thought of, and can't be much worse than Ugarte lol. For the reported fee of 45m Euro, if he is as good as what people say, it would be a good fee. Plus, I think last year's window speaks for itself. Wilcox and co did a decent job then.

Yes, I look at the teamsheet and decide I would be wasting my time (given I am in Australia and need sleep).

We don't have 3rd secured. I would have preferred he didn't play the likes of Mount, Martinez, and, to be honest, Zirkzee. Bed some youth in. Those three should be gone in the coming months.

Ederson would be a useful addition. ?

Fans that can't take the good with the bad are not worth having.
There is any about of reasons why fans miss games but choosing to miss one because you don't like the line up is a new one on me.

Not the actions of a real supporter imo.
Perhaps if Carrick had called you and got a consensus on who should play you could have watched a very boring nil all draw. Or maybe your input would have produced a better performance ???

You are unbelievable and patronising, what gives you the right to call someone not a proper supporter because they choose not to watch a game, maybe they could call you not a proper supporter for continuity of calling Ole a fraud should not a proper supporter support whoever, or is that when it suits you only.

Then you preach everyone entitled to an opinion .you mean long as it suits your agenda. unbelievable

Did you go to Sunderland no probably not so are you a proper supporter?

Considering we've played the least amount of matches possible this year, and have gone weeks without a game, I've found myself looking forward to games a lot more this season.

If Carrick is the man to take us forward next season, performances like that will tell him a lot. We simply don't have the squad to make 5 or 6 changes, and keep the performance level high.

We have to put extra care into replacing Casemiro, because every combination of midfield that isn't Case and Mainoo has struggled.

Full back depth needs addressing and also a RW too.

Reports of Zirkzee wanting to stay and fight, but he simply doesn't have the quality to play in the Premier League.

With Casemiro and Ugarte more than likely leaving, it probably gives Mount another season, but he's also a player who has underwhelmed.

It was a decent game of football, Jimbo. Sunderland are no mugs.

Sunderland are in a healthy league position primarily because they're so hard to beat at home.

City or Arsenal couldn't win there this season.

As Mumbles said, they're no mugs.

We dug in, which, away from home especially, isn't something we've been capable of for a while.

I think we'd have lost that game last season.

Pretty sure Sunderland lost 4 of their last 5 home games, including a 5-0 loss in their last game. So they might have been hard to beat earlier in the season, but not so much now.

Dress it up however you like, to not have a shot on target for the whole game from professional elite footballers is not great, whatever way you care to look at it.

Carrick will probably get the job... yes... does he have a lot to learn. Hell yeah, loads.

Does he need better players... who wouldn't.

But still, not to get a shot on target is very poor, whoever you're playing at, whatever level.

Carrick doesn't exactly appear that he inspires or gees up, he seems so laid back, and I do think that comes through quite a bit in our play, plus he's very slow to respond whilst in game.

It's clearly the cheap, easy option to keep him, and that's probably why we go that way, which, ok, fine, but let's not kid ourselves here, he's got lots to learn.

Eds, why do we consistently have to put up with the nonsense from Ken? It has been 20years.

Every time I am close to blocking the site, every time I get sucked back in to give him another chance.

I know there is a tool to block a user, but we really shouldn't have to resort to that.

There are lots of trolls here. Ken is definitely not one. Ease up, Jimbo.

We are all trolls to someone. There will always be one who you just do not see eye to eye with.

The trick is not to bite, or just accept their opinion and move on.

The hard bit is when the person is just a grade A A55!

It is not the trolling DonRed, it is the personal vendetta he seems to have with individuals over the years. Currently I am one, again.

I find it pathetic and amusing in equal measures.

Perhaps I just don't have time for the nonsense anymore.

Jimbo, you're getting a pass on the Aussie time. ? I get it, it's knackering to be up at that hour and then be ready/right for work or kids the next day, whatever you've got going on... I'll let you off. ?

For me, I've enjoyed it. I see a lot of people slagging Carrick and the team's performance off, but it's the points and getting us to 3rd, which should be his real metric. Personally, I watch every game no matter how bad, but in Aus, I get it, it's not easy, mate.

And yes, I'm hoping Ederson is a good start, but like I said, I don't know much about him. But I do trust the recruitment dept, particularly seeing what they have done the last couple of windows.

Ken, you'll never change. ? I see a lot more positivity in your posts recently, but you'll never be able to help yourself. Quite surprised I haven't seen any name calling yet, lol.

Right, Keefy, I take it back. Not acceptable, Jimbob. ?

16.) 11 May 2026
11 May 2026 09:23:41
All good, Jimbob. I'm in Melbourne and, admittedly, don't watch every game live, especially at 2am. I am fortunate enough to be retired, so can watch most other times or watch a replay first thing in the morning.

I get what you meant. All things considered, and having to decide whether to watch live or not, there will be something that tips the balance into the "nah not tonight" bracket.

For me it's more the opposition. If I am not inspired, then I will watch a replay. Having said that, I have missed some crackers live, and stayed up and watched some dirge during Eth and Amorim period.

17.) 11 May 2026
11 May 2026 09:50:25
It is not about not foreseeing an entertaining win. It is about looking at the teamsheet and KNOWING that the performance would be exactly what was returned.

Angel/Keefy appreciate your comments ?

Ken, as we say in Australia, go jump in a lake.

Jimbo, I'm not trying to be the 'bigger fan', and I totally appreciate the fact you have to sit up to all hours to watch a 0-0 dirge.

But I've been all over the world, and I have hunted down a bar in the middle of nowhere to watch a Utd game.

Much to my wife's chagrin.

Even during the Moyes and Van Gaal eras!

I'm obviously a masochist. ?
