Everyone relaxed a bit? Didn't want to post since the weekend's "performance". I'll use that term loosely. Think I'd have just gone overboard etc.

To change topic a little bit, what changes do you guys expect for the game on Thursday night? Another must win and it would be nice to try and put the tie to bed so we could really rotate and rest players in the second leg. It won't be easy.

Personally I think we will see both full backs dropped, varane won't play either. In midfield it's tough, mainly due to the fact we don't have much quality in the depth chart there.

Either way Thursday will be interesting in terms of selection and reaction.

I was surprisingly relaxed both when I turned the TV off at 0-4 and when I checked the final result. I'm far more concerned about the general fatigue from playing so many games, and how that's going to be a factor going forward, and whether we will be able to acquire top players in the summer, than I am about the second half drubbing at Anfield. A record loss? So what? If we make top 3/ 4 this result will be no more than a footnote in a season of emphatic turnaround. If we also win another trophy, what does it matter if we lost 0-1 or 0-7. It's 0 points either way. It was a far more important game for Liverpool than it was for us., though of course a result would have been preferable.

I think this team has been wound very tightly by ETH's strict disciplined approach. The thread that's been holding it all together got pulled out on Sunday and there was a cathartic unravelling. Maybe it was even a necessary thing to happen given the enormous pressure the schedule has been putting on what is really a pretty small squad, quality wise. We'll see.

Leahy,

I’ve read shaws post a couple of times and I can’t see where he says that. He’s suggesting that as long as we don’t let it ruin our season it doesn’t make any difference if we lost 1-0 or 7-0, and I totally agree.

It’s crap going to work having them lauding it over is but we are 7 points above them and have played 19 games already in this calendar year as compared to their 13. The good run was always going to come to and end and it’s not important we learn from it and go again.

I think everyone is gutted we lost and the Manor if the defeat leahy no doubt about that.
But it's 1 game out of the last 20.
It was a tough watch for us and a very humbling experience for the players.
We know there are still a few flakes in the squad.
If it starts to become a trend again then we will have issues. I doubt it will under eth.
3 weeks ago Liverpool let in 5 in 40 mins you have seen a positive reaction from them since then.
Knee jerk reactions are for fools. Poor decision making is usually brought about when people react on emotions.
I've a high tolerance because we are so far ahead of expecting this season.
There are a few who can't wait to jump on it both from our own fans and opposition fans and press. That's just the way it is.
The big picture is we are 3rd 7 points ahead of Liverpool and in a great position to achieve our league targets.
We have some poor options in some positions so all things considered

The performance was a shock but the loss not a big shock.
I think we will go on to finish top 4 with the potential to have another 2 good cup runs and a trophy in the bag.
That's where the players focus will be and that's where my focus and attention is. We can't change what happened on Sunday but we can all choose to wallow in it or stop crying and look forward.
I've seen fergie teams hit for 5 by Newcastle 6 by Southampton 6 by City before they had money.
The fact it was Liverpool didn't hurt me anything like as much as the flashbacks I got of oleball on Sunday.
Still on the right path imo and we need to suck this one up and see who has had the most successful season at the end.

Need to see a good reaction, focus again. Interesting to see how they react if we go one nil down. I suspect a good reaction and the focus will come back.

Pi€€ing me off ken that you talk such sense….
for a moron ?
I’m convinced ETH will have heads screwed on right and we’ll move on. I’m also confident that ETH has an eye to the summer window re out goings and incomings. The manager has done nothing to shake my confidence in his ability to get our club going in the right direction. GGMU.

Jeez Ken, that was a great post until you mentioned Ole, again! You need help sir, he's living in your head rent free. Try and exorcism.

Spot on Ken.

For me also, the unscripted homage to Ole was the biggest concern.
There are still players for whom it is difficult to fully fine tune their mentality.
Shaw, for me, had the worst Ole-day, he himself should hope it's not seen again.
McTominay simply served, in little more than a third of the match, more evidence that he cannot be relied upon in tough situations.
Fernandes annoyed me so much that, unusually, I found myself berating the telly - what a plank.

Let's just hope there are no more Ole-days.

Ken may well actually be a Bayern Munich defender from 1999 holding a massive grudge still.
