So many opinions on Rooney, is, isn't a legend.

Rooney is a United legend in my opinion and I will briefly explain why. I saw the young Rooney play for England and thought wow, get him in to our team, he looked special.

We managed to get him away from his beloved Everton at a time when he was one of the hottest properties in the world, there was no question of staying until he had given Everton a bit of his talent to improve their position. I remember the pictures of him walking around OT with the biggest smile.

I was there for his first game, the hat trick, I was there when he hit that volley against Newcastle, the elation when he scored against Milan or the overhead kick against Ckty. Rooney has given everything to win games for this club. It isn't just the 250 goals, it was the efforts he put in through many years of service, then the resultant trophies.
I don't think he achieved the level he should have done but neither did Giggs. The push for a better paid contract several times upset some, yet they forget Rio and Keane also pushed it, in fact SAF had to push for a better contract. Rooney was up against the financial restraints of the owners who saddled us with debt. Rooney has declined in the last three or four years but whilst he hasn't been as good as years gone by, it would be rare to say he hasn't given everything to the cause.

Legend yes, the goals, the trophies, the efforts to win them say he is, but the decline in his standard says his time with us is coming to an end. We need to acknowledge the blood sweat and efforts he has made as a legend of the club. Rooney is a legend and legends have to leave at some point. I hope he finds a club to enjoy the twilight of his remaining career but legend he is.

I just can't bring myself to be happy for him.

4 years of rubbish, while raking in the cash, isn't a captain, used the club twice (unlike others where we needed to break the wage structure he did it for himself, granted SAF did it for himself but he was world class) etc etc

I just don't like him. Every other Utd fan can hold him in legendary status if they wish, I never will.
