Erik ten Hag is now described as ‘satisfied’ by Manchester United plan to make important decisions together with him. That’s why he wanted a long-term contract. ⏳? #MUFC

Back room staff and buyout clause [€2m] payment to be discussed soon in order to complete the process.

Dare we say the club have made a good footballing choice?

Excited to see what happens in the summer now with outgoings, get hungry young players in and let him and his staff change the dire philosophy in this club.

Think this is great news for the academy players, with him coming from argubly the best youth set up in world football.

They may be a clear passage now into the first team for our kids.

Excellent choice and would do very well here if we gets the players to build this team.

Antony, Nunez/ Kane, Kounde,2 CMs and RB.

If we get these type of players and get rid of some of the players who are not good enough then we will see this team win some titles! .

Unfortunately Singh, those signings would still not have us any where near challenging.
Clearing out the mediocre players has got to be priority this summer.

While I tend to agree that the team needs a new RB, CB, CDM, RW, and ST I actually think we will likely see 3 maybe 4 signings at most. Or at least only 3-4 signing to go into the first 11.

I expect EtH to work more with many of the players we have and try to improve them before binning the lot. Making sure they don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I think we will push for nunez, a cm and give garner game time next season, along with a cb if we can get rid of jones bailly and tunzube

Then if martial leaves a winger.

Hope we see vdb get game time and show what he can do

Interesting summer ahead.

But its not going to be a quick fix, we have to turn these players into actual footballers and its going tk take time.

It’s quite unusual to see more interest in who we want to get rid of rather than who we will get in and a culmination of years of anger towards poor recruitment and poor attitudes. Really excited about what could happen and what a new side looks like. Enough players are leaving to mean a handful will come in, even from our youths.
Martial is a tricky one. I get the sinking feeling he’ll just come back and be the next player to run down his contract for 100 years.

I think if we can sign a cb, rb, lb, a few midfielders, a winger, a striker and maybe a new keeper, we might finish third next season.

There would be no point in taking on Ten Hag and having RR as a consultant if the club is not going to support them 100%. The board and the egomaniacal Woodward have painted us into a corner. The owners must surely know that the value of their investment is at risk. Success is a prerequisite of sustained value and another arrogance induced failure could potentially sink the ship entirely. The budget for new players may be a little more than we expect simply because the downside risk is greater than the additional debt.

If Van der Sar came with him, and Van Persie also, we would have a real setup. Perhaps ETH can get DVB firing on all cylinders again.

Would love Nunez, he looks an absolute stud. Not being in UCL would likely kill that though, he is hot property I think.

Just bring in the right type of player and back him. Set realistic goals for developing the club back to where it belongs. Forget about glamorous Kane and Rice signings that get the press excited. Support the guy. Give him a proper chance and hopefully he is the next big epl manager.

Rumours that Pogba is being offered 500k a week to stay. If that is the case, the club is gone to ruin. If Ten Hag has asked the club to try and keep him then I have zero faith in his ability to improve us. If he has not been included in the negotiation then it would appear that he has no control over transfers.
Pogba needed to leave the club a number of years ago and any attempt to keep him is absolutely ludicrous.

First positive choice on a Long looking Road,
Owners and Board need to support him for his blueprint of football. Nomore signings focusing shirt sales, no more tolerance to crybabies and toxics, no more value preventing contract extensions, proper Chances to hungry Youth, keep Fans On-side, shrewd eye for deals doesn't mater whatever time of year it is. And than we can hope, things will go upside.

Need to have " Just Football" in mind.

I think we'll see nunez a cm and akanji come in. Antony if martial leaves. I don't think we'll see a huge amount of signings this summer, ten hag will want to see who he can improve and what youth can step up.

Good news if its true Bolger2 - still not confident in this lot getting ETH in without at least a caberet of cock ups before conceding.
The priority must be for whoever to start the clearout, possibles/ good business = DDG, MARTIAL, RASHFORD
Need to go/ oocontract = tuanzebe, awb, bailly, matic, mata, pogba, jones, lingard, cavani, ronaldo.
wouldnt lose sleep but harder to get rid set = maguire, shaw, varane.
Basically a club reset but we can't get rid of all those in one window and replace them in squad, even using the youth team?
2-3 could be used in bargaining deals and 5-6 are out of contract: that's still a lot of players to bring in but probably attainable. If we dont, we will be no further forward (propbably further behind) than at any time in the last 8 seasons.
Audioflynn, I do hope you're wrong re pogba but if you prove correct any info on how to get a refund for 2 x season tickets would be welcome!

RedWhiskey, I tend to agree. I think it'll be a striker (hopefully Darwin Nunez, but there is a lot of competition for him), a CDM and a CB.

Lots of Rumours surrounding Timber, who obviously would help EtH by having another player who knows him in the squad. He looks a very good young player, I do worry a little with his height, as generally CB's under 6ft have struggled in the EPL. However, he does look like a genuine future world class player.

Ruben Neves links make a lot of sense as well. EPL proven and settled, ideal CDM for an EtH system and supposedly available.

Shappy I think we may end up with palhinha or however it's spelt. Not sure neves offers enough defensively. Creative yes and deep lying but I don't think he's the midfield enforcer we need. We have the attacking mid in Bruno, the water carriers in Fred and mctominay but lack a purely defensive minded mid. Whilst Fred and mctominay shouldn't be a first choice I don't see us bringing in more than one midfielder just yet. Garner will get game time and I think dvb will too. If it goes disastrously in the midfield battles maybe we will look again in January or the following summer.

I really hope we don't spent massive on rice. Not worth the prices being banded about. We could sort a lot more positions with that sort of cash.

RedWhiskey, with the possession heavy style EtH tends to play I don't think he will look for a defensive monster at CDM. For his style what the CDM can do with the ball is far more important than what they do off the ball.

For example Alvarez averages 1.7 tackles a game, 1.6 interceptions and 1.5 clearances. Averaging 4.8 defensive actions per game.

Even Gravenberch averages 1.5 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, and 0.6 clearances, totalling 2.7 defensive actions.

Compare that to McFred who manage 2.4 tackles each, 1.1 and 1.2 interceptions and 0.8 and 1.6 clearances per game. Giving our midfield an average of 9.5 defensive actions per game, compared to 7.5 defensive actions of the Ajax duo.

When we then look at the average number of passes those players make the United duo average 88.4 passes per game compared to the Ajax duo's 109.7 passes per game.

Foe EtH's style of play it is what a CDM can do on the ball that is far more valuable than what they do off it.

For that reason I think someone like Neves is far more likely than a CDM who is more specialised in making tackles.

Just for context Ruben Neves averages more defensive actions than Edson Alvarez while making a similar number of passes, with more variation of passes, more long passes, and more key passes. All in a far more competitive league.

At least with Pogba, the negotiations for him to go anywhere else are simple, with his contract expiring soon with us. I do expect him to go. Ten Hag is no fool. He wants players who can press in all positions, and Pogba is not that kind of player. Highly possible he could leave early which could then open up the next step in the MF quickly.

I wouldn't be against neves but if you look at the top two sides in the prem in recent years, they've had fabinho and fernandinho/ rodri. I do think a more defensive minded player is needed in the prem if we are looking to get to a level they are at.

RedWhiskey, I tend to agree. However, I expect EtH will start off with what he knows and trusts and will then learn the EPL and look make adjustments to his set up down the line.
