Afternoon Ed,
Hope all is well.

Is Maguire for sale or is the club open to listening to offers for him?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of him being for sale.}

If he wasn't English and a media favourite he would be put on the transfer list, probably behind the scenes, but he won't be. He is the most deluded footballer ever.

Thanks Ed. Are any clubs interested in him?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Good thing we only gave him a seven year contract, great piece of football administration.

Put him in the reserves bastion style and he'll be begging to leave come Jan.
Anything we get in a fee will be a bonus.
Maguire has a smell of ole off him so me needs to be removed as ruthlessly as a tumour. Notwithstanding the financial hit. He stinks the place up and is a symbol of one's mediocrity and low standards.

So where do you stand on Maguire exactly Ken?

He's an average player but it's not his fault he STILL IS the captain. Surely Ole is not calling that right now.

He isn't stinking the place out and that sort of comment is unnecessary. He lacks pace and that's always been a problem but especially at the highest level. Not his fault Utd paid silly money for him nor was he helped by having defenders around him who weren't great and no defensive midfielder in front of him. Didn't help him that he has a keeper behind him who never commands the penalty area either. I think he is a genuine guy who in the main has tried hard to play to his maximum. He does not deserve the vitriol he gets. Yes he is not good enough for a top top team and yes he is being paid shed loads but in his position would you not want to try and play and get such wages as well. I would. That's being honest. Don't pillory him. Instead be grateful that we have a manager who knows that a hard decision (because of the price tag) had to be made and has made it. So far as I can tell Ten Haag has treated Maguire with respect and we should do the same.

Salford you have basically backed word for word what Harry himself has said. I would have agreed on taking it easy on the abuse but now he is actually on the attack about all sorts, refusing to acknowledge anything about his own abilities/ performance he can get all the abuse he deserves imo.

I think at the time Utd more than anything needed a leader. Still do. He was doing well for England that summer. He ticked a few boxes and probably the fact he was English was the main one. The fee stank. There were surely better options and obviously cheaper ones. Of course a few saw the potential signing as a red flag but in general I don't remember a wave of disapproval from the Utd faithful. The club will lose huge money on him if he leaves, as they have with others in this awful decade of signings. Things look to be in a better shape now. We've still overpaid for Martinez and Antony but at least they're already earning it.
I think Maguire can do a great job at another Prem team. He's still potentially an England starter and has captained them and Southgate rates him, which will probably cost him his job in a few months. It's more a question of whether he's just going to wind his contract down and be happy to sit on the bench as no-one can afford whatever fee we ask or his wages.

If my choices were between Maguire or a turd as my CB, I'd choose the turd.
