Herrera
I think we can all agree that we shouldn’t be too concerned about the exact financial details as both - we don’t know them exactly (at least till next financial reports) and we don’t really know if it really hurts us that much financially

From a football player perspective, it looks like your assessment is off in terms not being a good finisher and only about running. Like many have said, waiting all summer to do this (Cavani reduced his demand too now) seems desperate but also - would we rather not have him now in the position we are in today? If the club does sign him, I hope we can give the player a chance before writing him off.

Also why would you want to sell the best defender last year in Serie A (if that’s true) when we look at the 6 other options we have.

{Ed0666's Note - because Ole is making the decisions

I think Phil Jones liked it 8 times but sadly got injured doing so.

Ed002 - actually don’t know whether Sporting are unrealistic but it looks like there are not too many other clubs in it for them to really benefit. They are well within their rights not to sell for anything less than they value him but so are United with Pogba.

FootballGoesInCircles

{Ed002's Note - Sure - let Pogba see his contract out. He has bveen great this year.}

Ed002 - Do you agree the Bruno clearly wants to leave? My understanding from my journalist friends is that he is. If so, I remember your point of view that if a player wants to leave (Pogba) then the club should be realistic in their expectations of the selling price. Surely, sporting can demand what they like and United fo that too for Pogba. Hopefully sense prevails but that is not a given whatsoever.

{Ed002's Note - why do you think Sporting are being unrealistic? They are dealing with amateurs.}

Shan - you are talking from both sides of your . mate. This is the season we can actually win it! Did you think that was the case in September and October? And yet that has nothing to do with how the team is performing under Ole right now?
Ed25 - great sentiment but nobody has the right to be in the top 4 or in the title race. You got to earn it. I agree United should aim for that but that wasn’t and isn’t a realistic goal just yet. Dream it, sure.
Squad quality: with thesummer signings, there was more or less agreement that the squad isn’t good enough. Yet, now many players look better (like Fred) . Ole may have some role to play in that.

Shan - hope more of us get behind the team - who knows what will happen but try and enjoy the ride mate. After a last second win on a tired performance (not pathetic Andy for good reason) . even if Ole isn’t your idea of a United manager. should be easy to find some happiness.

Not a regular match goer anymore (I am one for New England revolution now! ) but If I still lived in Manchester, I would have tried to be one of those 1500 standing. I think it’s a fantastic step ahead. It’s not the same as earlier of course but to see your team live is still special. Maybe it’s more to me as I can’t do it now.

It’s a disappointment that we are under being managed by Ole. Clearly - win or lose, with style (rare occasions this season) or without, its just that some don’t see a future being better with Ole - than without.

For me personally - I don’t disagree with some of the sentiment RedMan has but . and this is a big one for me - I think calling our manager a buffoon - who has given a lot to our club is downright pathetic. We can’t really say how competent Ole is but even if he wasn’t, he was given the job and he is doing what he believes is best for the club. You can disagree but doesn’t warrant such disrespect.

So this argument is that to win we basically need to sell our squad - and let’s buy Man citys or Liverpool’s? While at it, get their board and manager as well.

Fortunately football is not played on paper. We surely need a couple of world class players in (now) but moving 14 on and buying a dozen is exaggeration for now. Over the cycle of a few years that can happen while we can still be competitive during that cycle.

That’s also what City are capable of with the players they have.

Ole is clearly not a top top manager by any means - you can’t imagine any top team wanting him in exchange. However the same is true for most of our players. We are, right now, a very average team. Who many players will city exchange from their starting 11 with ours? 2?
