Ed02. Read a report online (not Twitter), that United are looking/ interested in signing Getafe midfielder Mauro Arambarri. Is there any truth to this or the usual guessing games by the tabloids.

Love_United

{Ed002's Note - Mauro Arambarri (CM/DM) DM converted in to a CM player who struggled to settle in Bordeaux due to the language and cultural issues - Atletico Madrid and possibly Monaco are seen as potential options as Getafe look for summer funds. Has been watched by Manchester United and Atalanta. Does not speak English.}

Ed02. Question for you. What's your thoughts on Sander Berge at Sheffield United as a defensive midfielder and are any clubs interested in him. I believe he could do a good job for United.

Love_United

{Ed002's Note - Sander Berge (DM/CM) Sheffield United accept that Berge will move in the summer and are hopeful of an auction - Arsenal are keen to resolve issues surrounding a number of loan/fringe and unwanted players and are keen to add Berge or Bissouma as a replacement. West Ham don't want to sell Rice, but if they end up accepting an offer, then he is one of the options on their list. Milan have him on a list of options, but not at the top. Manchester City have him on a list of options and PL experience may make them look to some sort of deal which could include youngsters going to Sheffield United on loan over the next couple of years - but he is not on the top of the list. Manchester United are not looking to replace Matic this summer but at the right price the coach could be interested. Lazio may offer the most interesting solution.}

1.) 10 May 2021 10:17:33
Problem with Berge is that he looks a bit injury prone.

2.) 10 May 2021 11:46:57
Thanks for all details Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

3.) 10 May 2021 12:34:20
Thanks for the reply Ed02.

16 Mar 2021 13:55:56
I'm going to copy what I saw on the Liverpool page to see if I have the same luck to get an answer. So here goes. Ed02 if you were Ole, (my apologies for the degradation) who would be your realistic targets for CB, CDM, RW, and FW this summer.

Love_United

{Ed002's Note - Assuming money can be raised through sales and considering the players Manchester United have been looking at, Ben White (CB), Konrad Laimer (DM) - but there may not be space in midfield - more versatile than a RW would be Leon Bailey and then it would be down to departures but Manchester United will be offered Andre Silva or could go down their well-trodden path of bring someone in at the tail end of their career like Benzema.

1.) 16 Mar 2021 14:46:34
Thanks very much for your insight Ed02.

2.) 16 Mar 2021 20:25:49
Very interesting - is there any chance of another INS and OUTS update?

{Ed002's Note - At some point.}

3.) 17 Mar 2021 07:35:09
Thanks very much for this informed opinion Ed002 - just had a look at Konrad Laimer and he looks perfect for us if we can make room for him. Much better one of him than two of McFred. Glad to see that we’re interested in him, thank you.

Looking forward to the update when you have time!

4.) 17 Mar 2021 01:56:28
Love_United, I reckon Ed002 would love to be in Ole's position rather than be Ole.

Ed002, has anything changed with respect to VDB as there are rumours of him wanting out.

{Ed002's Note - It is as I have explained previously as far as I know. Donny van de Beek (CM) has been offered to Real Madrid and Juventus, and will be offered to Barcelona due to a lack of a plan or direction at MU. But both Spanish clubs have moved on and unless Manchester United would accept a long-term payment plan or loan to buy there would not be the spare money to buy him. If Pogba leaves there will be space in the team - but MU seem intent on holding him hostage. Juventus has a preferred CM target but might be open to a loan to buy deal. Inter may provide an option if he is to leave.}

5.) 17 Mar 2021 11:51:25
Thanks Ed - I haven't seen enough of Laimer or Leon Bailey to play, can anyone shed some light? I've seen plenty of Ben White and I'm not a huge fan, he's ok but there are better options for (I imagine) cheaper. Andre Silva seems to have come good over in Germany and has a physical presence so could be a sensible move as Haaland is impossible.

{Ed002's Note - Laimer is very well thought of and RBL are aware that there are clubs looking at Konrad Laimer for next summer and some of the interest is driven by the price of Zakaria which has put interested sides off. Bayern Munich have considered Laimer, as have Borussia Dortmund (as a Weigl replacement) and Manchester United (but not until they have sorted out their midfield problems).

Leon Bailey (LW/RW) A player who has had his mojo drifting away and Bayer Leverkusen are open to him moving on. Spurs are keen but want the price to drop further. Prior interest of Everton and Leeds has drifted away - Everton already being over loaded with players who are predominently LW and Leeds have preferred options. Arsenal or Manchester United may offer an option but Arsenal really need to make some decisions on their squad.}

6.) 17 Mar 2021 12:07:09
Thanks Ed002 but do you rate VDB?

{Ed002's Note - He was a very good player in the old days when he got a game.}

7.) 17 Mar 2021 12:49:28
ED002,

It is very strange that VDB has been bought and not played.

I actually feel sorry for the player.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs have to have plans for players.}

8.) 17 Mar 2021 14:11:07
Certainly sounds like VDB was bought and wasn't really what OGS wanted.

9.) 17 Mar 2021 17:52:36
Re:Pogba. According to italian media, Raiola had promised that Juventus would make a good offer for Pogba last summer. Then C.V. came, Juventus suffered big losses and the offer was never made.
So Juventus has to share part of the blame too.
Unless Raiola is pretending that United accept part exchange with Juventus players no one wants due to their high salary (eg Ramsey) .

10.) 17 Mar 2021 23:35:19
Is it the case Van De Beek was bought as a Pogba replacement though? Or is the 'not fitting with Ole's plans' bit as Ole actually wanted Grealish? Agree there has to be a plan for players when bought - we would say that for the likes of Pellestri let alone more senior experienced pros.

I actually think Van De Beek is a good player. Very highly regarded at Ajax and some stellar performances in Champs League. It does seem a little off that we have such a technically gifted player as VDB who can't even make the bench but Fred (guaranteed to spoon one over the bar from 30 yards every game / gift possession away with half his forward passes) starts every match!

11.) 18 Mar 2021 13:09:58
Honestly I'd find that window so uninspiring and underwhelming.

For me it's all out for:
Varane or Pau Torres, Sancho and Haaland (DCL or Silva as back up)

Sell: Ddg, Martial and one of Axel, Lindelof or Bailly, plus Jones and Mata going,

{Ed077's Note - NO to Sancho and Haaland from me, unless the price drops significantly. And also they need to start maturing a bit and stop being divas.}

12.) 18 Mar 2021 14:25:56
I think Sancho should no longer be a priority we the ridiculous overall fee .
We have Greenwood who can play on the right and Diallo for whom we paid 35m million odd.
And there is Pellistri too.

A top class striker has to be a priority over a Right Winger.

{Ed077's Note - with the younger players you've mentioned TRD Sancho's youth almost plays against him, IMO. I would rather a little more experienced player for the RW role. Someone around 24_27, ideally.

13.) 18 Mar 2021 16:55:25
I hear you 77 and to your point perhaps Bailey is an option.

I just think we should target based available no more Lindelof and Fred types.

Eyes will be on the new team.

14.) 18 Mar 2021 17:21:36
Haaland should be the number one target along with a creative central midfielder and a centre back.
Get a few quid in by flogging Martial, Dalot, Lingard and Pogba if he still wants to leave.
Just try and give Jones away as a freebie.

15.) 19 Mar 2021 14:57:08
If haaland and sancho can't drag dortmund in to the top 4 in Germany I don't fancy their chances of bringing us a title.

16.) 20 Mar 2021 07:36:41
If we weren't able to sign Haaland when we were only up against BVB, what chance do we have when the world and his mother are now trying to sign him.

17.) 21 Mar 2021 13:09:20
Haaland will look at Real and City before us. Chelsea no doubt be in for him too and I actually think they may be the dark horse for his signature as expect them to go very close in the Champs League this year. Tuchel has got that defence sorted for sure.

Agree our opportunity to sign Haaland was surely last season. The 'not signing due to Raiola's sell on clause' will really come back to bite us. I recall the Eds saying at the time though that Haaland more likely chose Dortmund as they had a defined plan for him including working on his weaknesses etc.

Think one of our problems trying to get the right players for us is we approach it as though players will automatically lust after signing for us irrespective of where we have been the last few years.

Question for Ed01/ Ed02. Just wanted to know a little about Andy O Boyle. With recent reports linking him to the deputy director role at United, wanted to know if he's an ideal candidate for the role.

Love_United

{Ed001's Note - I only really know him as a fitness coach but that is a totally different role from the one he will be filling at United. I know he has been working for the Premier League but his role doesn't seem to actually have any tangible results to measure him by. It is one of those roles that are difficult to gauge his effect. Sorry mate. I did ask around a little, hence the late reply, but those that got back to me were just as unsure as I am on what effect he has actually had.}

1.) 07 May 2022 16:09:32
Thanks for the reply Ed01.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome, sorry it wasn't very informative though!}

2.) 07 May 2022 18:21:08
I think the fact you couldn't find out any info to guide your response might actual be more informative than anything else.

3.) 08 May 2022 00:22:07
Did not Murtagh hold the same job with the Premier league that O Boyle did? I can't remember exactly what the job entailed, Director (deputy) of player performance or something.

03 Mar 2022 09:20:12
Do the Glazers have any ties to Putin so sanctions could be placed on them also. Looks like the only way we can get rid of them.

1.) 03 Mar 2022 15:08:52
Not directly, but both found ways to take what they want without any concern for the people it would affect.

07 Nov 2021 16:19:19
Has anyone seen Dodgy. Might need to file a missing poster report to the Eds.

Love_United

{Ed014's Note - pretty sure he said he was taking time out for a while LU.

1.) 07 Nov 2021 16:49:30
After that performance yesterday, i don't blame him, would have been demoralising for the most positive of united fans.

2.) 07 Nov 2021 17:40:02
Dodgy is a top poster and offers a different perspective to most and there is nothing wrong with that he did say he was taking a break.
The one thing I'm looking forward to is that we are all aligned again with hope no matter who is chosen to replace ole.

Imo the 2 most important things must supporters want is a realistic hope of competing and the 2nd is to have pride in our team.
I and many others have had to follow the club without either of those 2 key ingredients that are required to enjoy supporting our team.
I don't care who the next manager is but instantly ill get hope back.

There are no guarantees with any new manager but I think no matter who it is we will have more hope and reason to be optimistic than we do now.

If by the end of the season we begin to have some pride in our team derived from watching them improve and play as a team and start to fulfill their potential, with any luck we can go into next season with hope and pride and that will unite the fan base and team.

3.) 07 Nov 2021 18:01:21
Dodgy said he was taking a break long before kick off yesterday, so the result/ performance and him not posting aren't linked at all.

Sometimes a break is necessary to gain some perspective. Dodgy like me is an optimist. Which unfortunately means you often feel like you are holding back the tide when you are one of a few posting positive things and you get tons of negative responses. It's tiring.

Hopefully he'll feel revitalised soon and be back posting as he is a top poster who is valued on here by many people, even those who might disagree with him.

4.) 07 Nov 2021 18:41:50
I think reality has struck Dodgy.
He was of the opinion that Ole would win us both League and CL this season.

Ole has lost the dressing room and is loosing fans as each game passes.
The club not acting yet is unforgivable.

Good comeback. Credit to the players for not giving up. Thought the substitutions made were the right ones. Hope we can deliver the second half performance for the entire game against Liverpool on Sunday cause if not we'll be embarrassed.

1.) 21 Oct 2021 07:00:19
De Gea did his part as well. That double save especially was crucial to our win.

Rumours of another planned protest for the Liverpool game. If true, I wonder who the resentment will be directed to this time around.

Love_United

1.) 19 Oct 2021 04:31:45
The owners, simple as.

2.) 19 Oct 2021 07:01:53
Hope its Ole. Owners did their bit.

3.) 19 Oct 2021 07:44:23
Makes us look like a spoilt bunch who only protest when we aren’t winning. I understand the reason for the protests but detractors will say that united fans only do it when they are losing. This scenario feeds that agenda.

4.) 19 Oct 2021 10:21:47
At least this time when they get into the stadium they can just take their seats.

If that's the 2 choices heading the list then dear me. Ineos clearly starting off on the wrong foot. Does the incoming CEO have a say in the matter as to who the new manager should be ED02 or does that decision falls squarely on the shoulders of the DOF.

Love_United

{Ed002's Note - The DoF will certainly have a significant say, but right now they are yet to appoint one.}

will that restructuring involve Sir Jim giving them the voting rights that they want or something totally different.

You keep believing that he has the club's best interests at heart because he claims to be a lifelong supporter. And you actually believe the Glazers didn't know what was needed to get united challenging and successful. They chose not to do so because they view United as an American franchise. Am surprised they didn't do like their American counterparts, when they can't fully finance a stadium rebuild by asking the Manchester council to fund the new stadium and if they refused, threaten to relocated United to a next part of England.

Only reason Jim wants United is because of the rights he has to the so called oil or gas that's beneath the ground. This has nothing to do with putting the Manchester back into Manchester United (whatever that means) and him being a lifelong United fan. This is simply another ploy of making more money to fill his pockets.

Don't care what anybody says. I would prefer a Qatari Sheikh run us outright, instead of the Glazers or Sir Jim and his protracted deal with the Glazers. To those who question the Qataris religious practices/ beliefs tell them to take it up with God. His laws were in place before Qatar chose to keep and enforce them. To those questioning human rights. Name me one country in the world which doesn't violate human rights. Just a bunch of hypocrites who choose to focus on a certain region of the world, hoping that others will pay less attention to the atrocities that takes place in theirs.
