Mourinho continually saying he's happy with the teams efforts? This is self preservation imo, as in reality, effort is what a manager can extract from a player and quality is either there or it's not. so Jose is basically saying that attitude ( the thing he can influence most) is fine but the quality ( something he can not do much about) Is missing. or am I being to cynical of his comments?

1.) 01 Oct 2018 07:57:15
In simpler terms, Jose is arse covering.

23 Sep 2018 00:43:22
I can see massive improvement in the team, with lots of our moves being 1 pass away from being great. I think in the coming weeks, provided Mourinho keeps the faith with what is emerging as our best 10/11 we are going to get a lot of goals.

1.) 23 Sep 2018 13:49:47
What you been on? Give me some.

2.) 23 Sep 2018 14:56:06
Stay off the glue Roon.

3.) 24 Sep 2018 09:28:19

You're wrong mate, we dropped points in our first game in 4 against a decent side, we are useless again, the whole team needs selling and the manager should be sacked.

4.) 24 Sep 2018 11:00:59
Gds do you actually believe that our performances have been good enough?
If this was 5 years back then it would still be OK but with our rivals like city and pool dominating matches, I don't think it's an overreaction if the fans criticize the team. Even in the matches we won, we never finished off the opponents. We were always on the backfoot and if it wasn't for DDG, it could have been a lot different. There's an over reliance on the keeper which is not a good thing and our attacking play is just pathetic. The only way fans console themselves these days is if the other top teams draw a match ( while dominating it) .

5.) 24 Sep 2018 13:48:10
Maybe I'm a touch optimistic but I think our play has quickened and if Sanchez can find form (or gets replaced), lukaku too, starts doing what he does best we are going to score more goals. Shaw has been great and Fred for me adds energy and quality. Key is sticking with more or less the same 10/11. I may be wrong and if I am I'll hold my hands up.

22 Sep 2018 22:06:38
So frustrating. Thought we played as well as we have in the last 5 years today. We are not getting much luck at the moment too. I was asking for mourinos head few weeks back and I also said pogba could do 1 (mostly cause he won't just come out and say he's happy) . But I'm delighted with how we played today and I feel someone is getting punished soon.

1.) 23 Sep 2018 04:58:49
If we didn't have DDG we would have been out of the game in the 1st half itself.
On the subject of punishment, fans are getting that week in week out. The players will just go back and enjoy without any remorse while being paid hundreds of thousands of pounds for producing such a " great performance". Whereas the fans who have religiously followed the club for their whole lives and it actually brings them true happiness if the team even puts in some sort of effort will be left frustrated and waiting for the next match in hope that these overpaid footballers will " punish some team ".

Can somebody on here please start meme of Darwin 'andy Carroll 'nunez if he hopefully flops . Ala the ' Harry Maguire ' ones . They overpaid for him and will get away with it unlike us.

1.) 03 Jul 2022 15:07:15
Seriously? So embarrassing. You know he was unitreds nr. 1 target? Yeah let's make fun of a much better more successful team for signing our nr. 1 target. memememememe.

2.) 03 Jul 2022 15:08:04
The way they play the lad will get plenty of chances. Proof will be in the pudding and only an idiot would write him off now. If an average footballer like Jota can get 20 goals a season, odds are Nunez will bag a few.

Anyways Roon. Don't worry about them. We have enough of our own problems to worrying about.

3.) 03 Jul 2022 19:48:08
It's laughable and derogatory the way some of our fans decide that Nunez will flop. He is an unbelievable talent and will not flop, I can assure you of that. I saw him several times live, and his movement is fantastic and knows where the goal is. Let's hope he doesn't put a couple past us at OT when we play them.

4.) 03 Jul 2022 21:58:19
Yet ye all hope I'm right I presume?

5.) 03 Jul 2022 22:09:05
Nunez = no knees
3x ops in 4y.

04 Jan 2022 11:20:31
Have we got the worst squad of players ever assembled? I'm serious, go through it and look at the price tags and it'll be a struggle to find a worse 1? Sad sad times, we need a massive clear out of players with the wrong attitude, and also the many average players we have on inflated wages . this needs to be absolutely ruthless to send shockwaves through all the little cowards we have accumulated.

1.) 04 Jan 2022 15:04:04
do you remember the days of bellion? cleverly and gibson.

we have a decent squad they are just a bunch of lazy.

16 Oct 2018 14:38:59
Not utd related but big Sam said ' Eric dier is as good as bosquettes, the 7 time la Liga and 3 times champions league winner '. Hope he gets the job after Jose 🤣🤣🤣.

1.) 17 Oct 2018 07:54:43
That spelling is up there with Schneidjer, I hope we never try and sign him.

2.) 17 Oct 2018 11:12:20
Ed said he was the main target before matic.

3.) 17 Oct 2018 14:32:35
He’s talking about Bosquouttees Jred, not Dier.

4.) 17 Oct 2018 20:02:48
Ha ha, never bothered looking up correct spelling, thanks gds, we all love getting corrected by the grammar/ spelling police. Anyway Dyer is nowewhere neer ass gode as buckets was my pint and eyem stood bye it.

30 Sep 2018 08:25:55
Is Mourinho getting sacked or will it take more defeats?

1.) 30 Sep 2018 08:47:18
Speak to the Welsh FA, see if we can borrow Giggs for the interim and see how things go?

2.) 30 Sep 2018 09:50:38
They’ll let him leave as soon as we start fighting to stay in the league rather than Championship!

For now just enjoy the amount of defeats will get till then!

08 Sep 2018 14:09:44
Is it better long term for players from South America to go to a porto/ wolfburg/ Bilbao as opposed to a utd/ barca/ Bayer? As in they get a decent contract at the feeder club and then an even better 1, plus huge signing on fee if things go well (obviously game time would be easier to get too) . Is this method more tried and trusted now amongst the 'Maybe superstars' rather than going to a big club and trying to shine there.

{Ed002's Note - Porto takes in Brazilians as there is less of an issue with culture, language etc.. There is no chance at all of South American players going to Athletic Bilbao. Wolfsburg have Willaim on their books but do not take players from South America on a regular basis - although the did try and buy a Brazilian and a Uraguayan from European sides this summer. Manchester United tasked Javier Ribalta with improving the scouting in South America but he has now left the club and moved to Zenit St Pete. Bayern Munich tend not to have an interest in taking South American players although they did have an interest in two Brazilians this summer - but one was playing in Portugal and one in England. Barcelona are at the maximum number of players they can have with adding a Brazilian from a Brazilian club this summer - and had to move Yerry Mina on to make space. I don't really understand your question.}

1.) 08 Sep 2018 15:25:02
Pretty sure bilbao only have basque players. With the odd exception am I right 002?

{Ed002's Note - Yes RW.}

2.) 08 Sep 2018 15:32:15
Porto, wolfberg, and bilbao are examples of a club size. I could easily have said sporting, hamburg and deportivo. Again utd, barca and Bayern are examples of the biggest clubs.

{Ed002's Note - I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about I am afraid. Hamburg and Deportivo de La Coruna are second division sides and are don't as a rule take players from South America. Whereas the likes of Barcelona do - Athur, Neymar, Romero, Mina, Roberto.... and they have all done well.

As such I just don't get your point.}

3.) 08 Sep 2018 16:06:00
My guess is the OP is asking about players moving to the likes of Porto because it’s maybe easier to get a work permit?

4.) 08 Sep 2018 17:45:36
I think what the OP was asking is

"Do agents of South American players target moves to perceived medium sized European clubs as a sort of stepping stone to a larger European club? "

So as to get players settled in Europe at a club with less media attention and pressure, with the intention of getting them a deal with a larger more prestigious club a year or two down the line.

Much like how a large number of Brazilian players have found themselves at Shakhtar Donetsk before moving on to clubs like United, City or Bayern as Fred, Fernandinho and Douglas Costa have done.

{Ed002's Note - Agents hawk their players around to the wealthy higher profile clubs in the first instance. For example, Kia Joorabchian has spent the summer hawking Corinthian's 20 year old Pedrinho around European sides, initially trying to get the likes of PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs to fork out €50M when he might only be worth a fraction of that. After that failed he turned to perceived gateway clubs such as Ajax, Porto and Benfica - also to no avail.

In terms of Shakhtar Donetsk, Lucescu got the ball rolling when he arrived about 15 years ago and the club has a scouting structure in Brazil second to none - where they work with clubs, agents and the Brazilian youth and junior sides to find the players early and then when they are old enough, 18, to take the best to the Ukraine. Fernandinho, Willian, Fred, Douglas Costa are all examples of players seen to be very good and taken to the Ukraine when they were between 18 and 20.}

5.) 08 Sep 2018 17:59:04
Okay. Is it better, career wise, financially too, to struggle for game time, force your way into a squad and eventually, the starting 11 at a club like utd.

Or join a smaller club and get game time and hope for a big move (pay day) to the big clubs? (For South American's)

{Ed002's Note - The leading sides will take players they think are good enough regardless of nationality and regardless of age. But clubs have to work within certain restrictions, such as the Spanish clubs are limited to the number of players they can have who are not EU nationals or covered by the Cotonou Agreement or Kolpak ruling hence Barcelona having to move Yerry Mina on to fit in Arthur. Some countries have quotas which are game based rather than squad based (e.g. Ukraine limits non homegrown players on the pitch to seven etc.). So there is no hard and fast guidance. Barcelona moved Arthur to Spain when he did to avoid him joining a Premier League side, he was never going to end up playing in Portugal or anywhere else - Barcelona wanted him right away.}

6.) 08 Sep 2018 18:34:10
Cheers ed, so in summery the big clubs still get first refusal (if it fits with quotas, restrictions etc. ) . But in a lot of circumstances it just works out that a spell at a smaller club proceeds a move to a larger 1.

{Ed002's Note - It is not really a first refusal, but some clubs have very good scouting set ups in South America.}

Ronaldo has only ever looked out for ronaldo. should never have been brought back and now his circus is ramping up to the max. I hope Eth is back in this situation, weather that is getting rid, or being aloud to bench him as much as he sees fit. Hopefully it's getting rid.

Yea of course I'd rather we sign a striker if he goes, but I would genuinely believe him staying would be worse than him going with no one coming in.

Think we are really building something and that Ronaldo will only upset the momentum. Greenwood (I know) got off to a flyer last season and was then dropped for Ronnie and I'd expect the exact same again (at martial expense this time) if he stays. I'd actually rather he went and we signed no body, than stays and puts the obvious improvements back a year, when he will go anyway.

If ever there was a player to sign for spurs it's Memphis, dunno why but he is the most spurs like player ever??.

He is a brilliant player and our managers first choice so if it takes all summer to land him then I'll happily wait.

Not that simple. Lot of Players clearly not good enough, and obviously we need at least 3 more in this widow alone. But it's the first game and if he doesn't panic and keeps drilling his style into those that get it and gets rid of the rest we should see something start to change.

Spurs haven't massively improved and arsenal the same. We have some decent players at the club and some could be more than decent under a proper coach. First 3 games are vital and if we can win 2 and draw with Liverpool I think our confidence will grow. If you add in sesko and fdj then I think top 4 is achievable.

He needs moving on big time. Absolutely incredible individual player, but will make us worse overall. Puts our plans back a year if he stays and plays imo.

We need another forward, not sure Antony is the right 1, but if eth wants him then why change that policy now after already getting him the 3 he wanted?
