Now, with no Antony, I hope ten Hag finally gives Pellistri a fair crack at it. He is a little old school in his style of play but i love the close control and ability to get to the byline. He is the exact opposite of Antony. No flicks, just crosses. I feel Amad would have been best placed to come in on the right although he does tend to drift in a little too much a la Antony. Picked the worst possible time to get injured (Weirdly, the guy that got Amad injured is out for the rest of the season, go figure) .

Unlike some on this page, I am happy and excited to see what the season holds for my beloved club.

I would play Garnacho on the right, from memory I think he is actually right footed. You do wonder, however, if ETH only wants inverted wingers for his style.

It was clear we had an excess of wingers in summer and needed to shift a few on. Now with the Antony and Sancho situations we're severely lacking, hopefully those situations get resolved one way or the other. Agree it's time to give Pellistri a proper chance now. Mount will probably be shifted out wide too.

Red Man, hopefully that isn't the case as we need to have variance to our game. Can't just have both wingers looking to cut in and shoot. We need someone to try and pick out Hojlund who seems quite good.

I have never seen Garnacho on the right. I don't know whether this is the best time to experiment.

Unruly

We rarely seem to cross the ball, our wingers don’t go on the outside and cross, neither Antony or Rashford. That takes a creative option away, helps the opposition defence because they know what’s coming. I watched a film of City and they put crosses over, not aimless ones, nevertheless we don’t seem to do it. We bought a 6 foot 3 CF, if we don’t have other options, I. e. crosses, in that circumstance, is that good coaching?

I think its fair to say it will be Mount from the right. Or does Sancho still have a say?

It should be Pellistri’s turn to have a few games to really show what he can do.

You can’t complain about a lack of crosses, then advocate for Gernacho to start who always goes for goal, over Pellistri who it our only winger who wants to beat a man and put a cross in.

Obviously nobody wants what Antony is going through to be true. I just wonder if Pellistri could be the beneficiary of the current mess with our wingers.

Pellistri and even Garnacho should be tried on the right wing. Both go down the outside and will cross the ball. Don't know how good their crossing is but hoiland needs supply and i hope people DO NOT slag either if takes them time to settle in.

You guys are too hopeful.
I assume its either rashy, or bruno who starts on the right. Maybe even martial.
Pellestri will be a sub.

I expect him to push Bruno RW and play Eriksen McTom and Case.

Or Rash right, Garnacho left.

We might get mount starting and Bruno pushed out right or vice versa. not a bad outcome with Ambrabat and Cas sitting in the middle of the pitch.

It will be interesting to see what eth does with Sancho. The Antony Saga is beyond the clubs control. I suspect this will take time.

Can't say I've ever seen Rash or Martial played on the right.

Depending on the game and opposition I think pellistri might get the odd chance but can see a midfield three of amrabat cas and Bruno with a front three of rashford hoij and mount! I really like look of that six plus the players to call on from the bench Pelli Garnacheo mainoo erikson Antony ( hopefully) !

1 week later and Sancho still has his post up. What are the club doing? Total embarrassment. No chance sancho plays any time soon.

Dodgy

If Sanchos post is still up, that is a direct challenge to the manager. The club need to deal with it and him now. Suspend him if needed.

Would love to see Pellistri get more time with Anthony's absence, but it's not going to happen. Hojlund up top means Rashford will get the left wing, which would demote Garnacho to the bench, but he will move ahead of Pellistri for the RW. The RW starter will be Bruno or Mount.

I think it could depend on the availability due to injury of some players. Is Amrabat fit (he left the Morocco camp), is Mount fit following his layoff.

Personally I would love to see us go back to the 4231 and play Casimero with Amrabat (allow both to work together as HM/ more attacking), Rashford Left, Fenandes AM.

On the right it would be great to see what Pellestri could do, would give us a natural winger who can cross the ball which I think Hojlund could thrive in. However, I think EtH will want a more fluid player there so would not be surprised if fit Mount plays out there. He did it for Chelsea, he is intelligent enough to work with Fernandes and interchange positions and has the workrate to press as a unit with the front 3 whilst also working with the RB defensively.

Interesting to see who EtH goes for in a potentially difficult first game back.

Does anyone have any crossing stats for us?

I wonder how many crosses we actually put in versus other teams?

Stumbled upon this list for the current season. Note these are classed as 'accurate' crosses, I assume ones that led to a goal attempt, or at least found a player of the same side.

2 Chelsea 25
3 Wolves 24
4 Brighton 23
5 Arsenal 21
6 Everton 20
7 Crystal Palace 19
8 Liverpool 19
8 Luton Town 18
9 M. City 17
10 Aston Villa 16
10 Newcastle 16
11 Burnley 13
11 Tottenham 13
11 Sheffield Utd 13
12 Bournemouth 11
12 Nottingham Forest 11
13 M. United 10
14 West Ham 9
15 Fulham 8.

Thanks, interesting stats and seem to indicate what my eyes could see, we don’t cross the ball as much as others.

Redman

That's been the issue on the right last 12 months. Antony comes inside into traffic and very difficult to cross from those areas. Rash to a lesser degree does the same but will go down the line like he did for our first goal against forest which was more a pass. AWB is a poor crosser too so nothing comes in from the right hand side and for a left footed CF that's the ideal side for crosses.

I hope people will give a 20 year kid who clearly loves the club and wanted this move time to settle and ETH should not play him too many minutes as that's how you burn young players and stunt their development.
