Not heard much of a mention of Ryan Gravenberch. I seem to remember Ed02 intimated that he would be keen on a move to Utd and I imagine he would cost less than Amrabat. Seeing as we are likely losing Fred, McT and Donny, I would love to see Gravenberch come in since he can cover practcally any midfield position. Add to that he's still quite young, already knows the manager's system and most of all, is actually keen on a move.
{Ed002's Note - Ryan Gravenberch (CM/DM/AM) Versatile midfield player who only joined Bayern Munich last summer and wasn't to be for sale, unless the Head Coach decides he can join the lengthy list of players now available as he looks towards a rebuild and with Brazzo Salihamidzic being sacked that has become more likely. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool to Bayern Munich at this time, but that may change, and Team Mino are certainly not offering him around, but they have had enquiries from a number of clubs, including Manchester City. The player is making demands about being a starter and game time and Bayern Munich have told Team Mino he can be sold. Newcastle may offer up an acceptable bid, they are certainly interested. There is interest from Italy but that may not suit the player. The player has made it clear he would like his next move to be to Manchester United and they may provide an option if available. Liverpool will likely offer another option and will have spoken with his Agents. A wildcard maybe Juventus.}
1.) 11 Aug 2023 14:25:39
Thanks for the info Ed02. Are United considering him as an option?
{Ed002's Note - It will depend on departures.}
2.) 11 Aug 2023 14:31:19
If the transfer sum isn't outrageous he's got to be a good shout to give an actual chance. Ed I know you don't like talking money but would a reasonable amount be able to acquire him or would Bayern be looking for a very high sum to sell him?
{Ed077's Note - €30m might be the ball park figure.}
3.) 11 Aug 2023 14:39:28
An absolute steal at that price.
Plays multiple positions, still young and has a very good relationship with ten hag. Will hopefully get the best out of him.
Only issue is would he come if he wasn’t a guaranteed starter?
Mount, Bruno and Casemiro will be our starting 3 so will need to to work to get them out the team.
4.) 11 Aug 2023 14:51:18
30M Euros in this day and age where midfielders are going for 105/ 110M of the queens finest seems like a real steal. Would be lovely to get both him and Amrabat but obviously the paths of Mejbri and Mainoo gets blocked which isn't nice. Thanks for the info Eds.
5.) 11 Aug 2023 15:19:00
Would much rather him than Amrabat. Granted, Amrabat is a better Cas deputy right now, but Gravenberch has a much higher ceiling. If both are priced around the €30m mark, it seems like an easy choice to me. Obviously, Ten Haag may see things differently though, especially having worked with Gravenberch at Ajax.
6.) 11 Aug 2023 23:54:19
Imagine both Arambat and Gravenberch! Wow. It’s probably doable if Mctominay leaves….
I think we need Arambat more though. We really struggled without Casemiro last season.
7.) 12 Aug 2023 10:42:44
Pavard and Gravenberch in.
Maguire, Fred, McTominay out.
Could be a big overhaul in players hopefully they gel quickly.
8.) 12 Aug 2023 13:03:57
Gravenberch is the profile of player i would like to see us target, ypung and takented, suits Ten Hag system, struggled in Germany last year but he is very young at a very comoetitive club in a new country, wouldn't read mucb into it.
Arambaat i am undecided on really, don't know much about him outside of WC and highlights if a couple of Fiorentina games.
9.) 12 Aug 2023 16:36:41
I haven't really seen him play much this year, so I may be misremembering. From what I remember though I got the impression he was more suited to be part of a double pivot with a partner who sat deeper giving him more freedom to roam and win the ball, rather than being the main defensive midfielder. Like Fred but better with the ball.
IMO we need a midfielder who can partner Casemiro when a little extra defensively, and can anchor the midfield himself with Mount as a number 8.
10.) 12 Aug 2023 17:19:30
Watch quite a bit of Ajax, under Ten Ha he played on the left side of a midfield two in front of Alvarez and alongside Berghuis. Berghuis generally the more advanced (Brhno role) and Gravenberch in what i assume is the Mount role. When the wide men drift inside he would also protect the left.
His place in the squad woukd be to cover for Mount, with Mount being the primary cover for Bruno. In truth i don't think Erikksen has the legs anymore for these roles. don't see him being much more than a sub this year and cup matches. He also is a sensibke head when needed and appears to be a good influence on the squad plus is well versed in the system.
Not saying he is a priority just he fits the profile of the type of players we should be going for.
Personally i think we are at least 2 yeara away and he can grow into the team.
11.) 13 Aug 2023 12:00:13
I really like Gravenberch, but I'm not sure he is what we need right now.
Definitely more of a No.8 than either a 6 or 10 (although he can play those roles to varying degrees) . Personally I'd say he's a more effective carrier of the ball than a passer. That's not to say he isn't an accomplished passer, just that for me his best work in progressing the ball comes from when he drops the shoulder and drives forward through a line of pressure with the ball and takes 2-3 of the opposition players out of the play. He isn't the guy to pick out a killer through ball that unlocks the opposition very often.
From that perspective I feel he is far more suited to playing as a box to box 8 given the freedom to bomb forward with the ball at his feet. As a holding player (No.6) he won't have the same freedom to drive forward with the ball, and would have to rely more heavily on his passing to effect play in possession. While defensively/ off the ball he's okay but not outstanding. Capable of making tackles etc but clearly defensive work isn't his passion.
I think we need someone who's far more comfortable playing as a No.6/ holding midfielder someone whose first instinct is to win the ball and shield the defence. Whose skillset is based on reading the game and controlling the space in front of the defence. If they can also be an expensive passer of the ball, someone who can pick out a 50 or 60 yard forward pass to open the opposition up and turn defence into attack then great.
That's not Gravenberch though.
12.) 13 Aug 2023 16:30:17
I like thuram if we can afford him, if not Ambrabat. Thuram has a super high ceiling. Watched him year live before last and thought here is a proper player and obviously getting better last year.
17 May 2023 13:10:22
Ed002, if you have the time, do Man Utd hold any interest in Gift Orban of Gent?
{Ed002's Note - Gift Orban (S) Although he has only just signed, his value is doing wonders for the club who may reluctantly cash in during the summer. Agent has spoken with Hertha Berlin and Leicester. Lille and Inter have a declared interest and plenty of scouts have been attending games.
1.) 17 May 2023 13:30:05
Thanks for your time and insight Ed. He looks quite the talent.
29 Dec 2022 08:07:16
Ed 002,
You mentioned that Utd may approach Jonathan David. Is Depay also an alternative target? Seeing as he's out of contract in the summer and isn't first choice at Barca.
{Ed002's Note - He was one of the options I listed.}
1.) 29 Dec 2022 10:42:41
Ed - are the club able to make signings in Jan or are the they only looking at loan deals?
{Ed002's Note - It depends on what they wish to do.}
2.) 29 Dec 2022 15:59:24
This is starting to whiff of Morata for 6 months.
3.) 29 Dec 2022 16:23:19
Would love a striker of Morata's mould for 6 months. Even Depay will be useful if he can come. Felix and Jonathan David I'm guessing are not going to happen.
4.) 29 Dec 2022 18:02:56
When you say ‘wish to do’ Ed, with the club up for sale, what options do you see them as having?
5.) 29 Dec 2022 13:20:00
Ed, is there anyone else you've heard recently that we may be looking at? Seems we don't have many options.
{Ed002's Note - I have said before there are a few options, but most clubs will not want disruption in the Winter.}
6.) 29 Dec 2022 20:07:07
Unruly I agree with you there on Morata. Not so much on depay.
I. Not all that fussed to get honest. I don't see a big fee being paid and unless it's a top choice then it would be daft Imo.
A loan deal for a good experienced cf could pay off. A guy like morata is used to coming off bench for big clubs and starting when required and has the knack of scoring goals.
Never prolific but weighs in with his quota regularly.
I'm sure we'll get a body but who that will be and will they make a difference is anybody 's guess.
If be happy to go with what we have and hope we get lucky with injuries.
Mad schedule ahead and if we stay in the cups we will be stretched no doubt and possibly knackered for the last 10 games when the prizes are being given out.
7.) 29 Dec 2022 20:14:24
Morata? Really? Oh dear we are in the poop.
8.) 29 Dec 2022 20:14:24
Morata? Really? Oh dear we are in the poop.
9.) 29 Dec 2022 20:56:51
I would rather Morata for a 6 mo than loan than splashing tens of millions on a makeweight permanently.
Either we get a guy that Ten Hag wants and believes is or will become the Striker he needs or we don't bother with a permanent signing, get the best loanee who will do a job in this system and look again in summer.
10.) 29 Dec 2022 21:43:07
Has to be a loan. As Ken suggests, we will run out of steam towards the end when the really crucial fixtures come up. Not to mention our only recognized striker used to be a winger, is injured half the time and isn't even good enough when he actually plays. We are absolutely desperate for a striker. We will not make top 4 without one coming in.
11.) 30 Dec 2022 07:56:39
Morata is an interesting one. Had all the technical and physical attributes to be a worldie, but he never quite seems to settle anywhere since he left Real. Seems to me that’s a mental limitation that has stopped him being an elite player. He’s not set the world alight in Madrid (at both clubs), Chelsea or Juventus.
Might be worth exploring for a loan only as a last resort, but I don't see why he’d leave his home town unless Atletico have some serious cash flow problems and need to free up some wages. Not a signing that I feel fits into what ETH is trying to do even in the short term.
06 Dec 2022 07:53:21
Ed002,
Do United still hold any interest in Gvardiol?
{Ed002's Note - No.}
1.) 06 Dec 2022 09:08:00
Makes sense. Licha plays the same position. Thanks for the info Ed002.
29 May 2022 16:04:17
Ed002
Has Ralf Rangnick left by choice or was he forced to leave by higher ups and/ or circumstances?
{Ed002's Note - It was never be a viable position moving forward and it would have made it even more difficult for the DoF.}
1.) 29 May 2022 17:32:34
Well i guess it is for the better. Thanks for the reply Ed002.
2.) 29 May 2022 17:32:34

3.) 29 May 2022 17:32:34
Well i guess it is for the better. Thanks for the reply Ed002.
4.) 29 May 2022 19:47:58
Ten Hag's words wouldn't have given him much encouragement. Maybe the clean break is best.
5.) 29 May 2022 20:37:18
I'm sure they were talking throughout despite their suggestions they had never met, so this news a week into ten Hag's appointment is bizarre. Maybe Ralph's opinion that we needed 10 players put the frighteners up everyone if Erik is happy to go for a couple and consolidate with youth and returning players.
6.) 29 May 2022 23:31:15
You can say that again unruly.

Apparently the decision on City's 115 charges is due next week and they have been informed of the judgment. Could be consequential for us with regards to potential signings like Anderson depending of if they are found guilty and the potential penalty. Just a rumour I came across on-line, not sure how true it is.
1.) 24 May 2026 23:39:20
At this stage, it's a case of I'll believe it when I see it. I also assume that, when a verdict is announced, City can appeal if it goes against them.
2.) 25 May 2026 07:57:47
Unruly
Heard similar. I also seem to recall Pep has always said he completes contracts when he signs them, so him scuttling out, with a year left, like he has, and announcing quite late, feels a bit rushed. You might speculate that, if the result of the charges is due out, it is interesting timing.
3.) 25 May 2026 08:07:45
Redman, the chicken may be coming home to roost with them lot, finally.
4.) 25 May 2026 09:05:33
I think I've mentioned before that Guardiola was on record saying that if the club were ever found guilty, he'd walk, as he'd been lied to. I agree, RedMan, the whole decision felt rushed, coinciding with rumours of the verdict coming out.
If they are found guilty, Guardiola has to make a statement proclaiming his innocence with the whole situation, which would tarnish his accomplishments, and if he stays quiet, it brings into question how much he actually knew.
Last night I had a funny feeling we might get Anderson. I know the rumours are he wants City, but I wonder how much that was down to him wanting to play for Guardiola? I feel this may change things. However, that may have been The Sun and United's performance that got me giddy. ?
5.) 25 May 2026 09:40:50
Ports
Now, Guardiola is no longer manager, he doesn't have to say anything regardless of the outcome. He can just say the club need to answer; he is not the manager. I think it was all financial allegations, so the football manager of any club would not be the accountant, for want of a better word. He can almost certainly say he was not involved. Being aware of allegations that have not been proven so far is not something that can be pinned on him.
However, if they are found guilty, that could tarnish all the achievements since City were first formed as a club in 2006.
Yes, sarcasm, because I remember us all screaming Pinocchio at Summerbee when they had a good team, and he took corners in front of me at the Stretford End.
Not giddy about the performance yesterday. Once we got in front, counter-attack football made it difficult for Brighton. Lovely second goal.
In terms of Anderson, I don't think the club will pay the big money; they will go for cheaper options. Anderson should be No1 choice, but I would be surprised to see him at OT.
6.) 25 May 2026 16:16:51
I think the club would pay big money, but they're not going to enter into a bidding war for a player who has supposedly already indicated that he wants to go to a different club.
7.) 25 May 2026 17:47:54
He has terms agreed with City, supposedly. United did not get into any terms discussions with him yet, supposedly.
So, it's not a case of us not matching; it's a case of him wanting to go elsewhere.
With some recent developments, that might change.
No club, us or City, has any agreement with Forest.
So saying we might not go for him because he is too expensive is a complete assumption, with no basis in truth or fact.
I think it is wrong to stamp your feet and make up false narratives, and peddle false accusations or assumptions when something is happening that you would rather didn't.
8.) 26 May 2026 21:58:22
Isn't it 130 charges now. Ed002 said at least 13 were very serious. I'm going with 35-60 points. Announced during the world cup when the focus is elsewhere.
Implement the points deduction which they can appeal potentially for a reduction.
04 May 2026 19:35:58
With Champions League now secured, there's one thing I really hope Carrick does. That is start both Yoro and Heaven as a CB pairing. Maguire is a short term fox for now, and Licha is only available half the time, and De Ligt is even worse. We have 3 games to see whether the two youngsters have enough to be relied upon or if we need to add center back as an area of concern.
It is also a chance for the coaches to play a little further up the pitch since the two are pacey.
We need to improve our pressing but that only happens if the center backs are high up the pitch.
Also reading that Cunha has an abductor issue and Brazil are talking to the club about leaving him out for the rest of the season. Again I'd be happy to see Lacey given some minutes, maybe even starting. Now is the time to play with shackles off and experiment a little bit.
1.) 04 May 2026 20:29:00
Unruly,
I think that's a fair shout. However, I'd imagine that Licha and Maguire will rotate with Yoro and Heaven due to the upcoming WC.
The priority is securing 3rd place first before any squad rotation. The likes for Lacey and Thwiates, getting game time, would be a nice finish to the season.
2.) 04 May 2026 21:57:12
Can't argue with that, MH.
3.) 04 May 2026 22:22:19
We have difficult games ahead. Forest are playing well, and Anderson will be looking to make a statement, as I suspect he is City-bound. Brighton will be fighting for a European place, and are always a thorn in our side.
We owe Brazil nothing, but at the same time I would hate Cunha to not be able to play in the World Cup, so maybe it's best not to play him for 90 mins every game.
I would keep the centre-back pairing as it is now, and if we go two goals up in a game, then perhaps play Yoro and Heaven together.
Would def like to see some of the youngsters getting game time, espec Lacey, but also Obi.
4.) 05 May 2026 11:40:28
The United hierarchy would probably disagree.
The higher up we finish, the more Premier League prize money we earn, even if it's the odd few million pounds. That's what United are all about now.
5.) 05 May 2026 16:56:27
Yoro and Heaven paired are not great, both need experience next to them, and Heaven is the far better one out of the two. I would sell Yoro if a bid comes in, he is too feeble.
6.) 06 May 2026 10:44:26
I'd never play two young lads together in the middle of defence. Not in the Premier League. No matter if European football has been achieved.
I want the club to be cultivating that winning mentality, creating momentum.
I can't see that happening with two kids in the centre of defence.
21 Apr 2026 22:00:20
With Chelsea's loss to Brighton, we now only need 2 wins/6 points out of Brentford, Liverpool, Sunderland, Forest and Brighton. With three of those being at home. And assuming the 6th and below sides win all their games. I think we are pretty much guaranteed that Champions League football is back at Old Trafford next season. Massive credit to Carrick.
1.) 22 Apr 2026 08:55:32
Rosenior has to be the strangest appointment of this season. He looks way out of his depth, makes some very bizarre statements, and their current run is horrendous.
They gave him a six and a half year contract, which looks misguided now. Chelsea clearly have a plan, but it seems quite an odd one.
2.) 22 Apr 2026 09:27:05
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.
3.) 22 Apr 2026 12:30:16
6 and a half year contract is short for Chelsea!
4.) 22 Apr 2026 13:16:23
His salary is rumoured to be £3.5 - £4 M a year, if they sack him, that is one expensive mistake.
5.) 22 Apr 2026 14:00:52
He lost me after that, 'respecting the ball' stuff. ?
6.) 22 Apr 2026 17:31:25
Very odd stuff he comes out with. The huddle around the ref was pathetic and they shouldn't all have been booked.
7.) 22 Apr 2026 18:26:53
The severance fee is supposedly not linked to the length that his contract was. There is a pre-determined 'break' clause, ie 'lose 5 successive games without scoring, and we can bin you for £20'.
8.) 23 Apr 2026 01:22:41
Bit like at Utd previously, the Chelsea players are mainly culpable. They are virtually all international players, but just didn't put the effort in and never gave Rosenor a fair crack of the whip. The most damning stat is that they were always second in distances run.
They should have their wages cut, if not stopped, or given to charity. I feel sorry for Rosenor, like I did Amorim. Maybe they were out of their depth, but top footballers should be able to try properly to adapt to new coaching.
9.) 23 Apr 2026 09:29:47
Player power ruins clubs.
27 Aug 2025 08:16:06
Hoping to see Heaven, Maguire, Mainoo, Mount, Ugarte, Sesko and Zirkzee starting today. Perfect opportunity for Sesko to get off the mark. Maybe a cameo for Chido as well. Onana ought to start. Keen to see how we approach the game. Nothing is a given with us but against a league two side, we should have too much for them.
1.) 27 Aug 2025 10:52:34
Difficult tight grounds, fans close to the pitch, raw passion, no VAR, more tasty tackles, will ref be as strict?
Often tougher than you think, remember was it Exeter a few years ago?
2.) 27 Aug 2025 11:04:14
Imagine the carnage if Grimsby knock us out.
3.) 27 Aug 2025 13:15:14
I don't even like to think about that Fallguy.
4.) 27 Aug 2025 14:17:34
Why do you want Mainoo to Mount Ugarte when u say sesko is sexy?
Sorry, couldn't resist. :P.
5.) 27 Aug 2025 16:33:05
Lol mbd calm down.
6.) 27 Aug 2025 16:34:42
I’d play the first team. They’ve barely played together and it shows. Need as much game time as possible. Might leave Bruno out for Mount/ Ugarte midfield.
31 Jul 2025 07:19:51
Set my alarm to wake up at 4:30 am and I have to say I was not disappointed. Very good performance especially from Dorgu, Hojlund, Yoro and Heaven. Amad and Bruno okay and Maguire steady. We need to replace Casemiro though, he looked a yard slower than everyone. Was curious that neither Cunha nor Mbeumo made the squad. They both need minutes with their new teammates.
Also the weather in Chicago, seemed worse than anything I've ever seen at Old Trafford.
1.) 31 Jul 2025 11:59:40
Just watched the replay this morning. The step up on intensity is clear to see. Watching players swarm around the opposition is quite refreshing. It's important that those players can also play out of those crowded areas if we win the ball back though. Casimero failed to do this a few times and Bruno also. When the opposing team comes out of these situations with the ball, we are often left exposed.
Much better though.
2.) 31 Jul 2025 13:27:15
Whilst I agree he is a yard slower Casemiro was the man breaking the lines and playing the ball forward alot. A very wet pitch he could of went and slid too far at times and got a red but he was calm Most of the time
The team is definitely starting to click and some very good intriquet passing almost sent Hojlund 1 on 1 at times.
Can Heaton not kick the ball? Pulling shaw over to kick made Yoro job harder I taught.
28 May 2026 20:37:41
How can one person be so insufferable. Is it some kind of fetish or what. Unbelievable.
01 Jul 2025 10:10:53
It was reported that malacia chose his own treatment plan against the club's wishes. We are run poorly, but this isn't on the club.
28 Jan 2025 23:22:53
Last weekend they played Inter and Dorgu was good, arguably their best player. But they got beat proper by a vastly superior side so difficult to judge. It is the game before that which he was poor.
18 Dec 2024 21:43:55
They don't have the finances to register him.
Would Olmo though, perfect for the 10 and Barcelona seem unable to register him.
28 Oct 2024 15:09:00
First time I've ever seen someone put the goalkeeper in a formation.
14 Jun 2026 21:58:21
100% agree with Ken on inclusivity. And FIFA is a corrupt joke, but we already knew that.
11 Jun 2026 18:54:55
Anything above 100M is an overpayment, honestly. Declan Rice was two times more influential when he moved. And, in any case, if we are going to Forest, I would rather we spend on Gibbs-White. Bruno isn't getting any younger, and we have no reliable prospect in that position.
10 Jun 2026 21:22:16
Lol what is this thread. ?
25 May 2026 20:38:01
Say what you want, but Carragher is always in Liverpool's corner, always defending their players, always making excuses. Then you have Neville. I can't stand him on commentary. It is as if he's trying so hard to seem impartial that he ends up supporting whatever team is playing against Utd.
Roy Keane, on the other hand, is just a miserable old bloke who's always mad at something. He seems to think we are still in the 90s and you can two foot opponents with no reprimand.
And the lie he told about Bruno is just typical. He comes across as trying too hard to get sound bytes. As good as he was, he wouldn't survive a day in modern football.
Scholes and Butt, the less said the better. Absolute t***s. They always seem keen for a Utd loss, so they farm views for their nonsense show.
Come to think of it, a lot of our so-called legends don't seem to like us very much. Rooney, Becks, Evra and Rio are a few active in the media that show their support openly.
25 May 2026 08:03:51
Jfc one would think we are no better than relegated West Ham judging by this person.
