I thought young Greenwood led the line pretty well last night. Deserved a goal too. He has bulked up considerably which is impressive since he still has quick feet and pace. Now all he needs is a couple of goals to get him going.

1.) 15 Mar 2021 08:21:19
Not sure I agree, Greenwood is great when running at defenders and shooting from the edge of the box, that is his natural game and last night he had two great chances, but a centre forward needs to have more tricks in his locker. Watch Cavani's movement off the ball, his anticipation for crosses, ready to sniff out a chance should the keeper fumble. These are all skills Greenwood needs and I suspect will develop.

2.) 15 Mar 2021 08:49:14
I too thought Greenwood did quite well. His physicality will improve as he grows older.
However, our strikers are not getting enough quality service.

3.) 15 Mar 2021 14:22:06
He played well I thought. We do lack someone hanging around the six yard box to tap in the scrappy goals though.

Good game last night. Slow start as per but picked up.

Hope to see a couple of fringe players and U23s on the bench for the return leg next week.

1.) 19 Feb 2021 08:36:14
Great game last night, you can tell as no one is posting on here🤣.

2.) 19 Feb 2021 10:03:30
Shappy, I would love us to do the same against teams sitting deep and winning comfortably then people would probably be posting more.

3.) 19 Feb 2021 10:24:48
Shappy, should have seen the live chat yesterday. No pleasing some fans.

4.) 19 Feb 2021 11:40:17
I'm not really a frequent poster here but it pretty much summed things up when I came on a few hours after a 4-0 win and it hadn't even been mentioned. I'm sure if it was the other way round I wouldn't have even been able to access the site!

5.) 19 Feb 2021 14:09:39
lol spenno, that's true.

On the Chelsea page they are saying if it wasn't for VAR we would be battling relegation. They are calling us 'penchester' or is it 'varchester'?

Hope the boys give them a 4th beating of the season tomorrow. That ought to shut them rent boys up.

1.) 18 Jul 2020 13:20:07
Is that the same Chelsea side we have beaten 3 times already this season?

2.) 18 Jul 2020 14:33:31
I hope we beat them by dodgy VAR decisions just to rub it in that little bit more.

3.) 18 Jul 2020 16:15:36
The same chelsea team that only beat palace because former player gary Cahill fell flat on his face after popping his hamstring.

4.) 18 Jul 2020 17:43:50
Unruly, let them think what they will. Personally I couldn’t care less for their opinion.

5.) 19 Jul 2020 09:18:43
Neither do I Scoobydog. I actually found it a little funny.

Ed001 if you are about, which do you think is easier. For Wan Bissaka to learn how to get forward and cross, pass, cut back, shoot and generally be an offensive threat a la Trent or for Trent to learn how to tackle, block, intercept and be a defensive rock like AWBissaka? Asking because with the modern game and if Utd wish to get back to the top, they need a full back who is not just good in defense. I think AWB needs to up his attacking game or he maybe will end up as a center back or out of the team with better attackers like Dalot being preferred.

{Ed001's Note - learning to cross etc should be easier. It just requires practicing technique in the main. Defending is in large part a mental thing.}

1.) 03 Jun 2020 19:04:49

After Christmas in our good run AWB’s crossing improved and he was getting forward and causing problems a lot more than he was earlier in the season. He’s one of the best tacklers I’ve ever seen at the club so I would be surprised if someone got in ahead of him but it would be good if Dalot or Laird could get to a point where they are pushing him for his position, we would have 2 top quality defenders then.

2.) 03 Jun 2020 20:02:20
I think Pogba and Fernandes can play together for sure. Personally I’d see this as a 433. McTominay would be the anchor with Bruno and Pogba either side in the midfield 3. Matic is too slow. It’s slightly unfair on Fred but think McTominay is a tougher tackler and offers more steel. Rashford, Martial, James up top. Critically I think we need Bailly as the second CB to Maguire. Much faster than Lindelof and less errors.

Appreciate there’s much speculation around Sancho joining who’d replace James in that line up. And Greenwood can play anywhere across the front 3.

If Jones, Rojos, Smalling weren’t on the permanent books we’d be in for a CB surely. Appreciate Tuanzebe is highly rated and will hopefully step up.

Conscious there’s multiple formations possible. Arguably there wouldn’t be enough strength in midfield against top 6 opponents but equally that 433 should make mincemeat out of some of the lower level opposition we’ve often struggled against!

3.) 03 Jun 2020 20:39:12
AWB after Christmas was far better attacking, he was beating players, getting in better forward positions, whipping some great crosses in and looked a threat at times.

What does my head in is people using the Maldini quote. Did he even ever make that quote?

If I make a slide tackle thing means I've made a a mistake is the biggest load of S**t ever.

There's nothing wrong with a slide tackle and is an integral part of the game and can take pressure off defensively and is very effective majority of the time. Standing up doesn't always work and can get wrong footed if players cut back inside and left for dead. If the balls there to be won take it. 99% of the time AWB gets it.

I do think he does rely too much on his pace though.

4.) 03 Jun 2020 21:23:22
GDS2 true he was much improved crossing wise in the 2nd half of the season. I do however feel that the way we play tends to limit what a full back can do. Trent more often than not has Salah in front of him who likes to cut in and run into the box leaving him with space to run into. Also coupled with the fact that the opposition LB and LCB are paying too much attention to Salah and Trent has learned to take full advantage.
Wilbot, i would rather a defender that blocks or intercepts as opposed to tackling especially in the box. AWB has time on his side though. Hopefully he improves going forward.

Johnny, bit harsh on Rashford who has been one of the most consistent players in the league this season despite playing the majority of games half fit. If I had to pick one of the two for a first 11 it would be Rashford all day every day and twice on Sunday.

We are blaming Ole for the super league now? Jeez the man will never know peace.

No point making any more jokes about the Ever Given.

That ship has sailed.
