So, we're either very unlucky or we're getting relegated.

The truth is that the club is a mess and that has permeated to the players. Zlatan told a story about taking a bottle of juice out of a hotel mini bar and then having £1 docked from his wages; that's how we treat players. Imagine what else might be going on behind the scenes.

Something is rotten and I have no idea how it gets fixed. It happened with Mourinho, he had a very solid season and the season after the players stopped trying. The same is happening how. A strong season last year yet now we have players who are not trying and seem not to care. Cas and Martinez were immense last year, this year they have been awful, whilst Rashford looks disinterested. Yes, injuries have been awful, but the lack of figh5 or passion is shocking.

Ole's interview was revealing, players looking to leave, poor recruitment, a very crappy culture. He didn't get the players he wanted, neither did Jose, neither did LVG. We used to be the richest club but those days have long gone. When we sh9upd have been targetting Kane and Rice, we signed Mount (no idea why) and Hojlund, who may turn out great, utis currently a kid with potential. It has been a slow inexorable slide since SAF and DG moved on and the circus clown took over. Until a professional structure is implemented I don't see things changing, it will simply be rinse and repeat.

Talk of relegation is plain silly, but I can see mid table mediocrity looming; we have no divine right to be at the top, other teams are moving up and the big 6 is not as obvious as it once was.

A change of ownership may see changes but they are not guaranteed. City and Newcastle seem to be doing it the right way, but we could just as easily end u0 with another poor owner.

All very depressing, and I see it being years before it is properly fixed.

I think we will be challenging for top 4 this year, but frankly after last season we should have been aiming higher. City will win another epl this year and we aren't even trying to stop them. We are worried about earnings per share and dividends, shirt sponsors, new uefa league (possibly new breakaway league, but shhhhh don't tell anyone) .

I am steadfast in my support for EtH. Many are saying they support him but he has to win next 4 or whatever. I think people need to realise the spot we are in. Saturday will be a huge test. We need a win. But if anyone thinks we can't lose they are not respecting this league.

I like the rumour that sancho will be shipped out in jan for any price. I want him out of our club. I am looking forward (with hope! ) To see amrabat, Mainoo and Mount to hopefully give us more in midfield.

Mctominay needs a mental reset. Must be difficult for players to hear almost universally that you are not good enough. But if he doesn't have passion, he basically has nothing. So he is nowhere near the team.

Varane leads our defense. And we miss him. Martinez is not suddenly a bad player, but he is taking time to come back from injury. We will get better, but we may not have hit the bottom yet.

How anybody can say that ETH isn’t getting the players he wants is beyond me. The reason we signed Mount is because ETH wanted him. Same goes for Onana and Hoijlund, and every other player that we’ve signed since ETH came to power (other than perhaps CAs, who was signed to appease the fans after we spent all of last summer chasing FDJ; a player that ETH wanted but didn’t want to come to us) . The reason we didn’t sign Kane and Rice this summer is because we signed Onana, Hoijlund, and Mount instead. We could’ve probably have gotten both had we signed Reya instead of Onana (assuming Rice would’ve been open to a move up north, which I’m not sure he would have) .

We could not have signed either, behave.

Until we get rid of the Glazers we’ll never be able to crack on and move forward into a modern football club. It’s that simple. The culture that runs through the club and which ETH is doing his best to eliminate, stems from the very top. When you have mercenary owners who just want to sit in that position, give absolutely nothing, then expect to skim the rewards……what does that say to each and every employee at the club. It breeds a culture of greed and laziness, and that’s what we have seen. I feel sorry for ETH because he’s effectively been told to come in and polish a turd. I’m fully behind the gaffer, my only slight criticism has been his reliance on ex players in the market. Having said that, they are all top players despite the protestations of some fans. We’ll be ok, but not until the Glazers go.

I am happy we didn't sign kane.
We have got to stop spending majority of our budgets on 30 year olds.

There was very very little chance of us getting Kane or RIce, just media rubbish to keep a few pundits in jobs -

What should be more concerning as we all know is why Brighton, West Ham, Villa, Brentford, Wolves to name a few seem to pick up very decent players and then improve them and generally play nice football whilst we look to be throwing money at players - (some decent ones) that just don't improve or gel. that's the biggest problem.

Some very good posts there Dodgy, I fully agree with you. Except about the point of rock bottom, I think we’ll see an improvement from now on.

Bring on tomorrow night and a bounce back to winning ways!

It has been said by others but the problem we have is that we are not aspiring to be Brighton or West Ham, so, while those teams may be picking up very good players they are not necessarily quite good enough to win the EPL or ECL. In any event, there is no reason to believe that these very good players would necessarily thrive under the pressure of being at United, rather than at Brighton or West Ham. It's a whole different ball game. How are Chelsea doing after all their upheaval? Everyone thought Potter was a great manager at Brighton, but at Chelsea he failed.

I agree with Fireman C that the problem comes from the top and the way the club has been run, which, under Woodward was with ineptitude and arrogance, with a clear primary focus, as directed by the Glazers and the ethos their ownership established, of creating a marketing and financial enterprise, rather than a football team . How often did Ed002 refer to those running the club as amateurs?

We have been beset by injuries and a tough opening schedule, and we have not performed well enough. At most clubs this would be largely unremarkable, but at United it creates a journalistic feeding frenzy. This is the background that ETH and the players have to work against. We better hope things improve because, judging from our experiences since SAF retired, managing or playing at United creates pressures that do not exist at Brighton for West Ham. If ETH fails and is fired, it's hard to see how the next manager will fare any better under the same spotlight.

Wazza
I agree and I am optimistic about sat.

But I have read many fans who are saying we must win our next 4 or 5 or EtH should go. Epl doesn't work like that. And an away game at burnley in a funny evening slot on saturday after Bayern away in UCL is a tough fixture.

If course we should win. But it will be a good win if we do.

I think ten hag will be gone by January.
The players have given up on him and his demands, the sancho saga will be the nail in the coffin for ten hag. Already reports players are unhappy with sancho being exiled.
Until these players and the player power culture is booted out the club will continue to fail.
I have heard a whispers southgate will be utd manager by 2024 / 2025. Another incredible decision.

Sancho is unhappy sancho has been exiled. McGuire, Sancho and mctominay are unhappy and leaking rubbish. Go figure.

Don't believe the noise, this is why they all had to go, because they aren't good enough, and worse they are toxic.

Unless there is a complete collapse I do not believe Ten Hag will be gone by January. If the club succumbs to whining players, or even some whining fans, it has learnt nothing from the past and we can expect the merry-go-round of ineptitude to continue as yet another manager is sacrificed, quite probably for someone weaker and less competent.

The problems at the club are deep and holistic. They do not originate with the manager. Firing him will not solve anything even if there's a short term bounce. They have to commit to Ten Hag as Arsenal did to Arteta. The manager must be allowed to manage.

Cant believe I am reading that manager will be gone by Jan. If you are trying to push for that, then I totally disagree. If you are not, then don't circulate and increase the level of noise around around it. It can only be coming from Sancho's side. He is out. He doesn't want to apologize. Aparently his agency was contacting pundits to try and get support from them. It is a complete joke and the player can never be in the right for what he did.

Maybe the British players who are surplus to requirements could form a sewing circle while the rest if the squad gets on with turning the season around.

Eth should be cracking skulls and we should absolutely support him.

14.) 22 Sep 2023

I don't want him out. Just think the club will side with the players if it came to it.

Tom22 - If the players have given up, it should be those who are kicked out of the club, not the manager. As you say, the player power needs to end.

Sancho should be long gone in January. McTominay won't be far behind him.

I do wonder if Rashford is an ETH player, I wonder if he'd be so prominent in the first 11 if ETH hadn't had so many more pressing issues to deal with.

Either way, if we get rid of this manager because the players continue to be entitled little brats, I for one won't be attending any games for the second half of the season as I refuse to watch players disrespect those who came before them.

I know it won't make the blind but of difference, but I stopped going under Ole and I stopped going under Jose for the same reason, somebody else will take my ticket.

I think (rather hope) that ETH will still be here beyond January and I'm optimistic that tings will improve from here. We still need a RB, DM and CM. I'd like to see ETH bring these players in and finally be able to call the squad his, and then we can truly see if he is or is not good enough, which I think he is.

If fans are discussing this, the players and their mouth piece media muppets are winning.

Don't even think about it. Just back the manager no matter what it takes. They either fall into line or go. Simple. I don't believe he is unfair. Talk of favourites is utter nonsense, that is ten hag's job. To pick the players he thinks can make us win. If you are not one, talk to him to figure out what you need to do, and do it. If you want the manual, go sit down with Wan Bissaka who was on the outside and worked his way back in.

Don't like it? Grow a pair and get a move lined up somewhere.

Man utd is a privilege, spoiled brats need not apply.

Wazza, I completely agree and hope the manager is backed by the club. For to long have the players held the power and standards have fallen to a worrying low.
The recruitment from club and manager I have my doubts on but that's another matter.
Dodgy it's a discussion forum, I'm not spreading anything. Like you I hope the club stay strong but I do have doubts.
Anyway hopefully our season starts tomorrow and we can kick on.
Have a good weekend all.

First we heard rumours the players were annoyed with Sancho and his effort in training now they are annoyed he is being dealt with. It's almost like media are making stuff up to have a story to sell.
