G'day Ed002,

I was wondering if at all, which areas we would be improving in the team in Jan.

Sorry if you have already addressed this.

TheRedDevil

{Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as saying we will improve these positions in January - folks don't want to sell there is no allocated money and squad sizes are relevant. Going forward the club want a LB which might be possible in January - they also want, a LW, a CB, a Striker and a midfield player. That is of course a summers worth and whilst players are identified as targets getting folks to agree to a sale is very difficult.}

Much appreciated for the swift reply and everything you do for the site Ed!

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

I'm a little surprised about a LW, I thought Martial and Rashford and doing great there atm. Plus Andreas Pereira likes to play from that side.

I would have thought a RW would be more of an issue. With Mata possibly leaving, Mkhitaryan's form being very inconsistent and Lingard never quite doing enough to fully be considered first choice material.

Also a striker is an interesting one. We have Lukaku, Rashford and Martial who all favour playing as a striker. I expect Zlatan will leave in the summer, but do we really need four strikers for one position?

{Ed002's Note - The club have been chasing Ivan Perisic as a left winger and have a list of other possible LW options in mind.}

The problem is just a lack of width. Martial, rashford, lingard, Mata, mhiki all prefer to be central. The only natural wide players we have are young an Valencia playing full back.

Do any of the Eds know if there's is any truth to the Belotti bid the independent are reporting, or is it BS.

TheRedDevil

{Ed004's Note - We are interested in Belotti but I'm guessing he is an alternative to Morata}

1.) 10 Jun 2017 20:07:47
Surely an alternative.

2.) 10 Jun 2017 22:05:34
I actually believe we are after both. don't forget that Ibra has gone and Rooney may also be on his way.

3.) 11 Jun 2017 06:54:13
Jose is only looking for a first 11 these days not to replace squad players like Rooney. With Morata and Lindof looking close to completion it just leaves Fabinho or Kroos for DM and maybe a left back.

Eds Do you expect United to make any signings before July 1st?

TheRedDevil

{Ed004's Note - Yes}

1.) 01 Jun 2017 13:32:11
Cheers ed for the quick reply!

2.) 01 Jun 2017 14:13:47

Ed002 Any chance that we will be in for Lukaku in the summer? He played so well yesterday and I couldn't help thinking that he would be a great replacement for Ibrahimovic if he decides to leave.

TheRedDevil

{Ed002's Note - The problem is that it is a Whatif question that is hard to answer without knowing the resoltion to the Ibrahimovic issue - right now there is no interest.}

With all the talk on this page being about how much of a toxic fan-base we are, I can't help agreeing. With the result on the weekend being far from good, I can understand and feel the frustration of our fan-base.

However I cannot understand why some of us are calling for Mourinho's head. We knew the person we were hiring and now that he is playing the football he knows, (and moving us up to second place) we instantly complain and criticize him for not playing the 'MU way', even though he has given his upmost throughout his tenure and has produced many amazing results (incl. beating the 2 most attractive football teams in the BPL) . If JM had done this for any other BPL side, I don't think we would see a similar reaction by the fans.

By the looks of things, the club is in a real mess right now. Ed002, since I value your opinion, what would you say the club needs to do to fix the problems we face atm? I understand that your time is limited so sorry in advance if this has already been answered or if it's to vague.

TheRedDevil

{Ed0333's Note - Most clubs would love to be in your ‘mess’ mate

Hi Eds, if you have time, just wondering if there is any truth to the rumours that Malcom is a target.
Cheers.

I asked this a couple of weeks back and this was Ed02's reply. Seems like a real mess. {Ed002's Note - Malcom was of interest to Barcelona, Olympique Marseille, Dynamo Kyiv, Chelsea and Juventus before he left Corinthians for a loan at Girodins Bordeaux to gain some experience. At the time he was expected to join Chelsea but the issues surrounding his ownership was a mess, to say the least. Bordeaux worked hard to untangle matters and persuaded the player to sign a permanent deal which ended a very ugly third party ownership deal with multiple parties involved in January 2016 (to explain - Corinthians were entitled to 30% of Malcom's transfer fee, while his agent Fernando Garcia held 35% of the economic rights. The rest was divided between Nílson Moura, who had 15%, and Guilherme Miranda and Thiago Ferro, with the other 20%) . The head of scouting in France for Chelsea has continued to watch Malcom with scouts from Braga, Juventus, Porto, Liverpool, Southampton, Manchester United and I imagine others taking an interest and watching him play. Manchester United did speak to Bordeaux about the player in the summer but other wide players were preferred by the club - and I suspect that is still the case so the might return again. }.

Sly sports reporting that we've had a bid rejected for Morata. Personally think he will be a good replacement for Ibra. Good in the air, strong and quite technical. A shame he hasn't been given more game time at Real.

78mn for morata is absolute madness, if perez calls for ddg i hope woodward tells him the price is 200mn or something.

@Ed002

I was wondering, who do you think out of all of out transfer targets, who would you say we are most likely to sign at this moment in time?

TheRedDevil

{Ed002's Note - I cannot sensibly answer "most likely" questions. Sorry.}

Listen to the podcast bud, will give you a indication of the possibility of what could happen this summer.

Any chance that we might tempt Allegri again if Mourinho does get the sack?

TheRedDevil

{Ed002's Note - No.}

{Ed001's Note - I think he would not be interested again after the way he was treated last time.}
