Disappointed to leave the champions home with a point, whod have thought that. Take a draw, move on, a good result.

Welsh i agree pal.

Aye, I know we had best chances and they was there for the taking but can't turn noses up at a point at anfield tbh. For me it shows how far we have come that we are frustrated not winning.

18 Jan 2021 08:19:42
The frustration was not trying to win, opportunities like that with their central defence and strikers out of form don’t come around often.

18 Jan 2021 22:17:53
Our strikers are out of form too Red Man so why didn’t they try and win either? We had 2 huge chances to win the game and unfortunately missed them.

It's hard to determine if that's a good point or an opportunity missed?

Whilst Liverpool have been imperious in recent seasons and not lost at home for well over 60 games they had their best two midfielders at CB, haven't won in three league games and failed to score in two of those.

The first half was poor, we were very sloppy in possession and rather than showing confidence and authority on the ball we looked to go long too early giving the ball away unnecessarily. We looked nervy and vulnerable at the back and were guilty of overplaying around our own box inviting Liverpool to press aggressively and allowing them to win the ball in dangerous areas.

The second half was much better. Defensively we looked solid and organised. We definitely grew into the game but our forward players continued to be sloppy in possession and wasted some great opportunities to counter attack. Having said that we created the two best chances in the game where Fernandes and Pogba should both have scored. Rashford also wasted a good opportunity.

Whilst I thought our back 4 was excellent we definitely defend too deep when Maguire and Lindelof play together at the back. Neither has enough pace and they are terrified of the ball over the top. To compensate the whole team drops deeper meaning we can't press effectively or win the ball back in dangerous positions high up the pitch, it also make us less able to break quickly or progress up the pitch especially against a team that wants to counter press.

In the big games we still lack authority on the ball and really struggle to sustain possession. We look to play forward too quickly and invariably give the ball away. We again missed big chances but at least we didn't make any mistakes at the back which has plagued us against the better teams.

I really don't know what to make of us. We can be really poor for long periods, rarely dominate any game but can suddenly spring to life and score goals. Is that enough to win trophies only time will tell!

I thinks it's a case of take the point and move on!

I'll say it again. I feel that Fred and McTominay are just not good enough to make a difference in this company. My heart sank when the two were named in the starting eleven. We need to target an effective quality holding player such as Ndidi.

Really? I was happy to see their names on the team sheet tbh, felt they'd start all along. I think with just x1 DM there Liverpool would've overran us.

Could he have played that ball to Cavani? Ofcourse he could have, he has the quality.

Should he have played that ball to Cavani? Ofcourse he should have as he wasnt going anywhere, was surrounded by 3 players and Cavani would have been clean through on goal.

Would he play that ball to Cavani? Ofcourse he wouldnt. He is selfish, lacks footballing intelligence and knows that with the queen on his side, Ole wouldn't drop him and keep playing him no matter how pathetic he has been.

By far, the poorest player on the field, Marcus MBE Rashford.

Why was Bruno halled off instead of him? Was Ole watching some other game on his monitor?

All said and done, we remain top. But very disappointed by the performance.

Rashford single handedly was the root cause in us not beating Liverpool at anfield. 🤣🤣🤣🙄 Did anyone else play?

18 Jan 2021 08:02:13
Thanks for the sarcasm Simon. Hopefully you will have something more valuable to contribute next time. Similar to Rashford.

18 Jan 2021 13:02:51
Pot kettle black pal😂 keep beating your Rashford drum😂😂. #obsessed.

Live chat was pretty negative about that performance but let’s take a step back.

They had 3 shots on target, none of them threatening, we had 4 shots on target, 2 of which we should have scored from at the death. They had a lot of the ball but did very little with it.

We’re not playing great, our forwards are off the pace and Bruno had his worst game since he arrived. Yet we are 12 unbeaten and still top.

Liverpool were poor and are in a bad run so people will say we should have done them. Yet they are unbeaten at Anfield for 68 games for a reason.

Bruno is a conundrum, big games pass him by, he was truly dreadful today. I’d like to see him calm down and dominate big games in the way he does run of the mill games. Rashford is out of sorts and Martial is also very poor right now. For whatever reason Greenwood is also out of favour. That leaves us struggling to score when last year they were scoring for fun.

Ole needs to pick the players in form. Pogba is having a purple patch, Shaw is excellent, Cavani looks full of beans, Bailly has been excellent. They should play and others should fit in around them.

We are making progress but at times it is painful to watch, but I’ll take a point at Anfield all day long right now.

Poor game which isn't a massive surprise but I would take a draw away to the scouse.
Pogbs or bruno need to take one of them.
Fulham and Sheffield united up next win them 2 and today will definitely look a good point .

Not good enough when it matters most. Two of their central defenders out weakening not only their defence but also midfield and we could not take advantage. Pathetic.

Bruno and Pogba again not dominating. Lindelof and Maguire had more to do than Henderson and Fabhino.

It is so bloody frustrating when we should have and could have won this match if we had imposed ourselves. Klopp will be happy and if Ole is then it says everything about his lack of ambition. Pep will be purring.

We won't win a league title again until we get a domineering midfield player, somebody who really drives the team on and Ole has to realise that we need a proper centre forward playing all the time. We need to invest in a younger Cavani type player.

Were you expecting us to win the league this year?

Ole said he wasn’t happy so there you go.

We are top, none of us expected that, it isn’t pretty at times but it’s an improvement on last year and we’re top despite our forwards being all over the place.

Here’s a question for you. Is it Ole’s fault that Bruno had a shocker.

{Ed025's Note - no but maybe he could have been hooked earlier AJH..

17 Jan 2021 19:37:41
Completely agree, I’d have hooked him after 30 minutes he was that bad.

Got to love Souness, what a tool.
