Question for Ed02 if I may please.
After readin this page for the last couple of years I know you're the person to turn to with regards to possible signings.
Can you share with us please who's a target over the next couple of days?
We've had a really good window upto now but still feel we are a couple short. We desperately need a proper no9 and another midfielder. I feel if anythin happens to Casemiro and we go back to McFred then we're going to struggle.
Hopeful of some good news Ed ? thanks.

I think that's the real question. I'd imagine after Dubravka we will be done unless there are significant player outgoings. If AWB goes then hopefully we see a RB. And if Ronaldo goes we see a CF. If not we have started rebuild and further build Jan/ next summer. My big hope is we start the foundations earlier and aren't scrambling around.

AJH, I've read the posts, I've bin readin the posts multiple times a day as the window draws to a close. But isn't it possible that things have changed now we've gone and spent a big chunk of money on Antony? You've seen yourself how one minute we're linked with Rabiot and Arnautovic only to end up with Casemiro and Antony ??♂️ things change don't they.

Great to see a performance like that last night. I had a sneaky suspicion it was only a matter of time until Eth made the decision to drop certain players and rightfully so. Glad it paid off for him. Happy for the players who came in and happy for the fans. It's been a long time since I remember a game like that. From the first minute you could see they had a bit of fire, tackles were flyin in, runs on and off the ball etc. I just hoped it wasn't going to fizzle out after 10mins like we've seen previously over the la few years. It felt like United of old. The United way and was a joy to watch. I couldn't give a toss about the scoreline if the players on the pitch are committed and have a good do. We couldn't have asked for much more last night.
That's the benchmark now. We can't expect anythin less from this group because they've shown with hardwork and desire what they can do. Let Ronaldo go, I wouldn't have had him back in the first place. Bin Maguire because he'd get turned inside out playin Sunday league. And get a few more in this window and I might stick a cheeky tenner on United for the league ?
Roll on Saturday dinner and Southampton!

its going to take time but its a positive step that shows they can perform and out run one of the best teams around.
hopefully that gives them confidence now and they start to show it consistently
we still need signings, some players can put a shift in 1 week then go missing the next 3.
but there were positive signs.

Long time follower. First time poster. Hope you guys are all keepin well. Thought I'd try get involved in the action as a lot of you talk good football sense.
I'm hopin for a change around today, the world and his wife knows that the combination of Mcfred is a joke. Fred, although technically below average has a good engine and good work rate and I'd stick him in the holdin midfield role to cover the frailty in defense, certainly maguire anyhow.
I'd be inclined to give both Eriksen and Bruno a role infront of Fred although Bruno has to be close to getting dropped frm the startin 11 on his form of the last 6 months or so.
Up top start with Ronnie, Sancho and Garnacho either side of him.
Last weeks performance wasn't upto scratch and I had high hopes. But it's only the first game of the season and ETH is still tryna find his feet with the players he's got, who let's face it, aren't upto scratch for where we need to be. Let's hope we can have some enjoyment from today's game and talk about football in a slightly different light. Recently United has been very doom n gloom and rightly so. I'm jus hopin to see the players put a shift in and have a bit of hunger and fight as a team. Surely things can grow from there.

Hi V and welcome to contributing via posting, I am a relative new poster too but I am sure the long-term posters will also welcome your thoughts.
I agree with you regards to the performance last week being far from satisfactory. However I disagree with putting Fred as a Holding Midfielder, we need someone who can read the game, tackle and take the ball off the defenders and link the forward line (i. e. pass), unfortunately I haven’t seen any of that consistently in Fred. The problem is who can do that in our current squad? Hence why previous managers have chosen to use McFred - two players to do one job (terribly! ) .
We are clearly going to have to be patient this season and treat it as a transition, with any positive (cup run or finishing top four) a bonus.

Always encourage long time readers to post. The page is better with more opinions and comments, there are only so many Shappy essays a guy can read ?
I wonder if he will play eriksen holding mid playmaker. It looked much better last week when he dropped deeper when we were pushing. a lot of our issues last week stemmed from being awful with the ball in CM.
Interested to see how we play today. In some ways if EtH plays the same team but gets a reaction from the players I would be just as happy as if we change 4 or 5.
So over to you Erik, we expect much better than we were in the first half at home.

Umbro Speciali were my go to boot. Soft kangaroo leather but was durable in the tackle. Really light and flexible considering they offered loads of support. Available in both studs and moulded studs dependin on weather. Not much change out of 100 notes even 20-25 years ago but they lasted the season unlike the plastic boots of today.
Adidas did have some good boots, the copa mundial and world cups were decent but just not wide enough for my feet.
Eventually it was the studs of an old pair of predators that finished me off and caused me to hang my boots up almost 20 years ago now. The good old days hey ?.

Quite agree. We're a better side without Ronaldo in it. The players seem to have more freedom and not the pressure of havin to play 2nd fiddle to Ronaldo. You've only got to look at Bruno's stats and performances both with and without Ronaldo. Same way the back line looks more assured without that donkey Maguire ploddin about.

Totally agree about the owners. But the money we've spent since they've taken over whether borrowed or not is more than most teams in world football. The players as a whole are a shambles and need to take responsibility. They aren't fit to wear the badge!
