All this talk of Pogba and the amount of money being spent on him, he is not the finished article and who knows if he ever will reach the potential he seems to have.

From some reason I have this feeling that he is not the type of midfielder this current team is crying out. He is a box to box midfielder who can run through the midfield with the ball at his feet, but then so can Herrera and Schneiderlin too to a certain extent, where he enjoyed his best season with Southampton paying the box to box role.

What I feel United need now is a deep lying, creative midfielder who can also tackle but mostly to dictate the game and pull all the strings. That sort of player is Marco Verratti. He is a very skillful midfielder with brilliant mental attributes and great versatility. There are few midfielders with great technique and flair that can also tackle and mark, making this kid invaluable at any level. His passing, technique, set pieces and first touch are 2nd to none and he ticks all the boxes for me.

He is the midfielder that we need to replace the aging Carrick and Schweinsteiger. And if we can tempt Pogba and Juve for 100m, I reckon we can tempt PSG for less.

nik,

'That sort of player is Marco Verratti'. It is, because you described him as the kind of player YOU think we need. Marco Verratti would improve any team in the world, for me he is one of the best midfielders around but its like saying 'what we really need is a little tax dodging fella who can run rings round people and score loads of goals', that sort of player would be Lionel Messi, let's put a bid in.

I've had enough with this obsession of a "deep lying playmaker role", it doesn't take anything special to sit in front of the back four and "keep it ticking" or "dictate the game" we already have plenty of players that can do that in carrick, basti, blind and Morgan.
We need energy and drive from midfield, we didn't have that last year and whether that was down to the players we have or lvg's tactics is up for debate.
Pogba for me is a complete midfielder, he's at his best when he's box to box, but he can play at number 6 or number 10 very effectively too, he's exactly what we need to take us up a level.

I agree he would be a very good signing, but as Eds said a while ago he signed a new contract, and looks like he would go elsewhere in Europe if he ever became available for transfer.

I would love to see Carrick and Schweiny get hold of one of the youngsters in the youth squad and say right, youve got talent - shadow us, watch us, learn from us and become our Marco Veratti.

Chances of Bastian putting that kind of effort in are non existent. Huge salary, with none of the leadership qualities of Keane . Robson/ Evra red nev .

Showed his true colours with his knee injury, never saw him around the place during the run in last season for the last 6 games - where was he at West Ham in the crucial game, geeing the team up? Well enough to stroll around Europe watching his MRS hit a tennis ball about though (she is fit mind)

Happy to see him off the wage bill, he has had his ego massaged by playing for us now, got that now on his cv .

Boy,

You're right, I used to think he was a model professional but in all honestly he has just milked us this season and turned up for the Euros.

Perhaps it was a bad example but the theory still stands, get the youngsters in and around the first team and force them to develop and thrive by learning.

There is clearly talent there as we seem to do well in the U21 competition every year - they just can't seem to make the step up to the first team although admittedly its the biggest jump in football development terms.

Hey Mayur,

Fellow South African here. Unless you're a season ticket holder, it is very difficult to get a ticket. There's some Facebook pages dedicated to tickets holders that can't make the match that sell tickets for face value. Just be careful of scammers i. e. Try meet at the ground to make the exchange;)

You know Mourinho will play Fellini for this game even though it will be the wrong choice.
