As we move into the new squad cost era, United currently stand at around £350m. With Casemiro, Sancho and Hojlund's departures we should reduce that by £73m. (We are not paying Sancho and Rasmus's wages at the moment but their remaining book value will be gone).

That brings us to Rashford, Onana, Ugarte and possibly Zirkzee. We're not paying wages for the first 2 right now. Rashford is 0 book value so any sale would be all profit. If we can somehow manage to sell them all, even if we have to eat a book loss, we will remove a further £77m, for £150m in total.

There could be others. I'd be looking to sell Martinez.

So hoping for the best, squad cost should be reduced to around £200m. With Champions League money revenues should be more like £750m, We will have a ceiling of £500m+. If we went to £100m and £300k a week for one perfect player it would cost £35m, still leaving bags of room. As long as the cash flow is there I would not be surprised to see us sending in the region of £300m this summer.

Anderson 100m
Ederson 50m
Joao Gomes 40m
Porro 50m
Mateta 40m
Senesi Free (just to keep those of you that insist that we need 6 CB's for 2 spaces ;) ).

Thanks, newname. So, to understand how it works, if we buy a player for 100 million and he earns 300k a week, then the player costs 35 million per year (I understand 20 million per year X 5 years for buying him, and 15 million his contract).

In this case, we can buy 5 such players without having a big problem with PSR, is it right?
Of course, I understand there are many other factors, like debt, etc.

Heaven, as I understand it, PSR is over at the end of this year and instead the EPL will move to a squad cost system as already exists for teams qualifying for Europe. The EPL will be 85%, but teams that qualify for Europe will have to keep it at 70% to meet the UEFA cap.

So, yes, we could theoretically have room to buy 5 such players and have no problem. We will also have bonuses to meet for making it into the Champions League, plus some improved contracts, like Kobbie's, to swallow.

So, we can buy five £100m players? Hmm, I suspect not.

I think we'll be trying to keep squad cost down to around £400m with 5-6 new faces, depending on outgoings. The owners will also want to start making a profit and having a positive cash flow again. Our non-squad costs are still way too high, in part due to interest on borrowings.
