There's understandably a lot of talk about midfield signings this summer with an ever growing list of potential targets. However, would people prefer us to have a versatile midfield 4 made up of 4 different styles of players i.e. Mainoo, Anderson, Ederson, Gomes, who all offer different strengths and weaknesses? This would allow for tactical flexibility, especially within games.
Or, would it be better to identify a style of play and have 2 players for each role who can come in when there are injuries or players need rest without the style of play altering i.e. Mainoo and Mateus Fernandes as 8's alongside Baleba and Gomes as 6's?

The Casemiro replacement has to be a top-quality, tier 1 midfielder (Anderson/Tonali/Tchouameni/Bruno G).
I would prefer the club nailed 1 midfield signing than sign 3 average midfielders.

I'd like us to sign Hackney, not as an immediate starter, but as squad depth. We need to replace Cas with an A Lister, but we also need to build a much stronger squad. He's the Championship player of the season, and he hasn't peaked yet.

With it looking like a real possibility that Spurs could get relegated. Are there any of their players worth looking at? Porro, Udogie, MvdV, Romero would all add depth in defence. Whilst Sarr and Bergvall have shown potential at times in midfield.
Personally, I'd like to see us try for MvdV as an upgrade on Martinez. Thoughts?

Only Spurs player I would take is Kudus. Rest of the squad is very average. Richarlison and Romero had potential, but they haven't progressed at all.

Gray, we wanted him before he went there. Versatile.
Maybe Porro, but better available.
Others have major injuries, so discounted for that reason.

Vdv have to question his character, but a v g player when fully committed.

I've never understood the Gray hype myself. Hard working and honest sort of player, but I think people get carried away because of his age. I don't see a talent that is going to become a top player. Can see him having a Will Hughes type career - solid prem player.

Solanke would be a good option. I like Bissouma and Sarr too, but all of those I'm thinking of as squad depth options.

Would normally say yes, but considering our gaping hole to fill is in midfield, Spurs midfield has been horrendous for a lot of seasons now, probably since Eric Dier and Dembele days.
Watching Conor Gallagher run around like a technically deficient headless chicken, thank the lord we didnt sign him.

Mvdv, yes, but he is injury prone. Love Romero, as he's a bit of a headcase, but he has Atletico Madrid type player written all over him. No one else, apart from a fit Kulusevski or Kudus, maybe. (But we have Mbeumo and Amad on the front right).

IWOTB, if we had £300m in the budget, focusing on CM, I think I'd opt for.
Anderson £120m.
Fernandes £60m.
Ederson £40m.
Next, I think a striker to rotate with Sesko, ideally.
Watkins £40m.
Finally, a true LW.
Fofana or Diomande, if available, for the £50m mark.
I totally acknowledge that we need improvements at LB, RB and CB, but I think that they can be delayed until next summer.

Definitely need a back up CF, and agree that an older, EPL-proven option that could chip in with 10-15 goals and mentor Sesko. Watkins as an all-round forward, Mateta as a fox in the box, or Toney as an outside shout if attainable? Jimenez as a back up option, but hard to justify paying a fee for someone that would just be a stop gap for 1 or at most 2 seasons.
