I posted about this previous but if it's true that we are demanding a 15m package just to loan lingard then that's ridiculous. Like shappy said, the players are nothing but financial assets and are treated as such. Shambles.

They’re also the best paid players in the business for being bang average Tim so it’s swings and roundabouts.

Rumours that united want to include a bonus payment in the loan deal if newcastle stay in the prem.

Not sure if its true but would make sense as not in uniteds long term interest for newcastle to stay up because we can barely compete with a so called “top 6” let alone a “top 7”.

Didn’t they ask for £50m for Sean Longstaff because they knew we were desperate and have money? What comes around goes around, welcome to buying players when people know you have money.

Yeah gds, let's stiff them, just to gold onto Lingard.

I’m not fussed about us playing hardball with Newcastle to be honest. It’s not really in our interest for Newcastle to stay up so if we were to help them by allowing lingard to go there why shouldn’t we push for a better deal then they’re offering.

Exactly Ports.

It was widely reported -who knows how accuratley in UK media - that UTD wanted all of Martials wages paying and 2-3 mill loan fee from Sevilla. Then talks broke down as Sevilla only wanted to pay half his salary and nothing else.

Eventually he moved with Sevilla paying all of his wages but no loan fee so UTD are around 1.5 million better off than Sevilla first offered.

I can see Lingard going to Newcastle and UTD settling for a loan fee of 3-4 mill and all his wages paid until he is off the books in the summer.

Pushing for a better deal is fair enough, the astronomical amount we are asking for, for essentially a 4 month loan is ridiculous. It’s just going to add to lingards resentment, for that alone he’s best off getting a move.

Newcastle stay up, they'll make more than the £12 Million United want for being in the Premier League next season on top of the money they have now with the new owners. If Newcastle were serious they'd do it, they just spent £20M on Chris Wood. I know who I'd put money on scoring more goals for them if Lingard went there!

Totally agree Ports, i was going to mention Chris Wood myself.

What is the price of staying up for Newcastle? I know they'd be better equipped to stay up if they had lingard so why shouldn't mufc demand this kind of clause.

Burnley finished 17th last season and received £101.7M.

At the time they signed Woods everyone was thinking Norwich and Watford were going down, leaving realistically one of Newcastle and Burnley to go with them. Weakening the other team was probably just as much the reason as strengthening themselves.

Well if they are prepared to splash £20M on a player to “weaken” their direct competition, a £12M bonus for a proven premier league player who United value at I guess around £25-£30M shouldn’t be an issue for them.
