Keanes job is to give his opinion, that's it. As Ken wrote further down the page, he's a man who let his emotions get the better of him many many times during his career. What Ronaldo done is inexcusable, the manager dealt with it, the player will have to take his punishment and that's it.

What Keane said and why he said it is because he has empathy for Roanldo and the situation he's in. You don't have to agree with what he said but I don't see the uproar over his opinion even if I don't entirely agree with it.

Keano went off the rails. For once Gary had it right. United are a better team without Ronaldo, and the number of goals he scored last year is irrelevant. When RVN left and we bough Carrick we scored more goals and played better team football. Last year he came to United fully fit and eager to play. Despite his contribution United had their worst EPL season ever. It destroyed Ole and the morale of the team. This year he missed pre-season on some flimsy excuse and made it clear he no longer wanted to be at United. Without him the team has looked better, particularly against the better teams who don't come to mount a rearguard action. It's time for him to move on. He has it within his power to end this charade. He could have left in the summer had he been prepared to forego his wages and pay back a part of his signing fee. and pay off his agent.

Keane was happy for two years to try to stick up for his mate Ole and the crap he served as a manager.

Now he is criticising the job Ten Hag is doing when it's clearly way better than Ole's fare because he upset his mate Ronaldo who acted like a tool and got punished for it.

On a side note Keane is entitled to his opinions as is Souness and that’s what there paid to do, but then numpties come along and abuse them for doing there job!
