The circus continues. the club have banned a string of reporters from press conferences now due to some of the stories being run about eth and the squad losing faith in him. This and all the stories of player unrest are eerily familiar. I'm sick of the whole lot if I'm honest.

Need to get the new lot in to reset the fetid culture ASAP.

Get rid of anyone not on-board with the new project.

You know what they say, there's only one thing worse than being talked about and that's not being talked about. Clickbait drives United now.

I totally get that but it seems that we are in the papers more for off field issues than our actual play on the pitch. I get United sells and it drives interactions but I struggle to think of another team who are in the news for similar stuff. Part of that has to be related to the players surely.

It's actually about time that we grew a spine against these clickbait merchants, in fact, its sending a very strong message to people leaking messages from inside the dressing room, that anyone you leak to will be ostracised and won't be entertained and we will cut that outlet you have chosen. I can guarantee you no journos will be printing stories to back a players agenda if it means they won't get any stories from the club. Brilliant move tbh.

What did we all expect when it’s the same group of players that have got the past 4 managers sacked

Ole was to nice, didn’t show any sort of discipline

Now ten hag is making them run to much

???

What th e club need to do is give him a new contract and tell the lot of them it you don’t like it there is the door

I wouldn’t pay much attention to the media they all love united failing… I could make stories up and get click bate

Take Arteta for example there are only 2 players in that arsenal squad that are still there from when he took over

We had 7 players starting weekend who were there under the previous 2 managers

Sir Jim has an absolute job on his hands he needs to be ruthless and rid the club of these bad eggs.

It is not a circus to ban these vultures. There has to be consequences for them enabling this player power. What else would you expect then to do?

When Fergie delivered his threat to Journalists it was withering, he sat in total control of the situation.

I understand what Ten Hag is trying to do here and why, the narrative isn't going to work for him I would guess. I just don't think he has the quality of characters in his squad to make it work.

Oakbark

I respect him and he is sticking to his principles. English is definitely not his natural language and these twits take what he says constantly out of context and are enablers to creating a toxic environment.

Imagine if the wall street journal started printing stories about something a disgruntled banker or his friends or inner circle leaked to them. its a hit job all the time and luckhurst is a pos. they are like a tabloid paper.

Great comment above about arteta. He had problems with the big time players in the squad when he came in. He was under pressure, and manh arsenal fans wanted him gone. But the club backed him, moved out players who were not part of his plans, many of whom had been key players, and some were sent to train separately.

The manager has to be backed. Then, the manager will be judged, when they have had their chance and they either live or die by their sword. But first they must be allowed to impliment their plan. We have not got their yet.

Fully support the decision and it’s good to see such a bold stance. I feel it backs the manager even though we know he won’t last much longer. The media is a free for all so I’m always in favour of seeing people stand up to their gutter trash reporting.

I’m more worried about the constant leaks from the players to the media, everytime it starts to go wrong the same stories circulate and I’m sure we can all guess their sources. I appreciate the club backing eth but the underlying issue of weak players who are very self serving is the main issue here.

Ahmed, I didn't say he wasn't right, I said he doesn't have the gravitas of Fergie.

Fergie also had a mentally strong team and built a culture where his players would reat to that adversity by doubling down to shove it back in the face of detractors.

I think his days are numbered perhaps due to circumstance, I think Van Bommel will move on from Antwerp and Overmars will help him rebuild his profile. I hope he does, like him and think he is a good manager, I think United under the current structure is an impossible job, I am hoping things change with the right people in place

This team doesn't have that and these players never will.

A strange decision, all things considered, and one that’s almost certain to increase the pressure on ETH in the long run. Ultimately, only performances and results can bring an end to the negative stories, but banning journalists is only going to make things worse - especially when the story they printed clearly came from (or via) one of the players. Whether or not it’s true is another matter, although looking at the performances and body language of most of our squad, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is.

It will be interesting to see how ETH responds with his team selection tonight, as it sounds like he knows who the leak might be (at least that’s what I took from his “one or two” unhappy players comment) . Rashford and Martial would be my guess, but I expect both will still be in the squad, if not the starting 11.

At this point, I think a complete reset is the best way forward. Get rid of Ten Haag, get rid of the trouble makers, and get rid of the people in senior positions who have thus far failed to justify their appointments. Bring in an interim who can figure out which players (if any) are worth keeping and then actually listed to what they say rather than shove them out of the door because the next manager thinks he knows better.

It may take four or five years to get back to a competitive level, but I’d prefer that to repeating the same 2-year cycle that we’ve been trapped in since SAF retired.

We are not designed to wait for 4 or 5 years. We will be back to glazers out ratcliff out. We llive in the past and although we talk about rebuild most here and elsewhere have no comprehension or tolerance for time it takes.

Anyone watch arsenal 2 years ago when arteta was maybe getting the sack. They looked disjointed, very inconsistent and always oart of the process.
