Hi Ed 033.
Another pole request if I may?
A) Mason should never play for the club again?
B) I would like him to be loaned out in order to have time to reflect.
C) we should wait for the result of clubs investigation before making a personal choice?
Thanks Ed.

Great question ken and I bet difficult for most to answer, I know it was for me.

Ken should have have two options

a) . Never want to see him anywhere near the club and

b) . Willing to give him a 2nd chance.

Ken was right to put in option c because a lot of people don't feel they want to make a decision yet based on social media reports.

Shouldn't be difficult to answer, every has heard/ seen the videos. He should never play football again and not just for united. Scumbag of a man.

Oakbark, you may be right.

Dc you must be some sort of angel. There's hundreds of footballers that have been down that road with these so called wags.
They know these young fellas are rich and they will do anything for the dollar sign. tell lies set people up. No one knows what really was going on.
Should Eric Cantona never again have kicked a ball for Manchester united after his incident. After all he assaulted someone no matter what way look at it.

This is a tough one.

On the one hand he has behaved very badly and the recordings portrayed something quite repugnant.

However, on the other there are perhaps more reasons why he should be given a second chance:

1. First and foremost for whatever reasons there are no criminal charges against him.
2. There is nothing to say footballers have to be nice people.
3. Never playing for Manchester Utd again; is the response proportional to the 'offense'?
4. He is young and I did a lot of stupid things when I was his age (and older) which I regret now so I am inclined to be forgiving of young people's stupid ignorant mistakes.
5. He is a very talented player and very much the centre forward Utd need right now.
6. If he could get back on track he would save the club a lot of money.

I think it depends how he handles from here on in. If he comes out genuinely full of contrition and expresses a new understanding of how his behaviour was deeply wrong then it would be harsh to shun him. He could even commit himself to help educate other young players about respecting women.

Of course, if he does play for Man Utd, us supporters will have to get behind the lad to try and counteract the stick he will get from opposition supporters. Football fans can be a fickle but I wonder how many Man Utd supporters would be happy singing Mason Greenwood's name?

Leahy,
We have all heard the audio etc. You sound a bit like “the way she dressed encouraged ………”
So far as Cantona is concerned the comparison is bizarre and invalid.

For me, bin him. If you haven’t seen/ heard the published evidence your opinion is pointless. For me the club have to get rid. Apart from any other consideration the chants rolling off the stands will kill him and our club.

Fizz. I'm not taking sides. I don't know what happened there either do u. I said everyone deserves a second chance and I didn't compare the Cantona incident I just asked should he never have kicked a ball for unit3again after assaulting someone.

DC and Fizz.

You each need to tighten up your understanding of the word 'Evidence' - there's absolutely fa beyond allegations and conjecture.
There's no evidence, not any you've read or heard.

You've read trial-by-media because any deeper intricacies of this case would not be available to the media rats.
You've heard a recording that could very easily be fabricated in the space of a few minutes.
You've seen a video and images that shows bruises and cuts - bruises and cuts that could result from a fall, bruises and cuts that could very easily be done by herself.

I've heard the recording too, it sounds 100% fake - there is no organic flow to that dialogue.

Here's a question for you though.
Let's say he did do it. Let's say it was actually the first and only time he's lashed out at her. Let's say she's the consistent aggressor and has previously slapped him about. Let's say that's the real scenario, one that's perfectly plausible - where would you stand then?

You can nod along all you want, there's absolutely no evidence whatsoever.

United have to take some of the responsibility for how this kid has turned out as a human, after all, he’s been in the academy since he was about 8

I personally would like to see an extensive rehabilitation programme put in place for him
(and whatever aftercare the victim needs, for as long as she needs it)

This should be months and not weeks, possibly even a year dependent on how much progress is made, only if he is willing to actually learn and change (if not then there’s no helping the guy)

Then and only then, should he be considered to return to the team. I would also renew his contract on a 1 year, very low paid deal if legally possible. If he wants the help he shouldn’t be getting 75k a week.

I think it’s important that United are part of the solution here and do not refuse responsibility by simply ripping up his contract, nor should they welcome him back as if nothing has happened.

Whilst not guilty in a court of law, the recordings prove what type of person he is. He needs help and United should be involved in that, even if eventually he doesn’t actually ever play for the club again anyway.

No evidence of what woggle?
There isn't even an accusation levelled at him.
I agree with your points.
New evidence came to light but that's being ignored by the witch hunters.
I'm not sure of my stance I have to be honest.
I don't know enough to condemn him nor do I know enough to say he is clear.
I know players in our recent past that have done a lot worse than what's on that alleged recording.
I will support whatever decision the club makes as they will be better placed than me to make a decision and will be in possession of a lot more factual information and the decision makers will do what's best for the club so I'll support that.

How would yous feel if it was your sister, mother etc in the video would you be so easy to forgive him? . I honestly can't believe this thread I'm sure some people are at the wind up.

The guy is an utter scumbag and hopefully never plays for united or any club ever again.

MRT.

Wtf?
Seriously?
Everything you've listed should only come after conviction.
You cannot implement corrective structure for someone who might not require correction and it is certainly not the fault of the club.
By your logic, with most pro clubs around the world having questionable players at some point, the entire sport should dig itself out.

That's ridiculous, an industry or employer is not responsible for an employee's actions outside.

Ken.
Her accusation came with an image 'To everyone who wants to know what mason greenwood actually does to me'

Like yourself, I reserve judgement for what I know.

The decisions to be made are way beyond mere mortals like you and I, I don't envy the brains being monstered by this conundrum.

DC.

Honestly mate, you need to wobble your head.

My ex was, and still is, a pos psycho who, because I wasn't happy with her having an affair, decided to invent all manner of trash to try ruining my life. She wanted my home, she wanted my business, she wanted me to lose everything because I wouldn't let her walk all over me. She basically created an entire scenario worse than that which MG is accused of and I had to fight like an animal in the courts to survive.

So, forgive me for my cynicism, but some women can be **** too.

DC - Funny you should ask. Seems her family have all moved on and accepted that they are back together.

My opinion is MG is an immature kid who thinks he's a gangster. Personally I'd give him chance to prove himself, make sure he is accepting counselling and if he steps out of line. Sell him.

If we sacked him, other EPL sides will nab him in an heartbeat.

21.) 04 Feb 2023

Leahy

It's absolutely horrendous mate.
Even after all that, I still lost good friends and still feel judged by some people. I'm not sour though, I cleaned the fan and haven't looked back.

Honestly, the way things work in the UK is ridiculous.
Like women who've been raped, they're interrogated and prodded at way more than should be necessary.
That said, I firmly believe that those who make false allegations should serve the sentence their victim would have otherwise served.

He might well be guilty and, if so, they should absolutely fk him off, but there's no proof and the allegations have been withdrawn - no case. Yet, so many FB barristers are popping up with naive and, frankly, in some cases, child-like interpretations of what actually represents evidence.

All the 'I think he did' garbage is just that - garbage. Opinion qualifies nothing, but weirdly, with MG, it's apparently validated because his silence incriminates him.
If these people had even the slightest clue of what a legal team/ rep will advise in the given situation, then they could, perhaps, offer opinions that are, at least in some way, informed.
Instead, it's just garbage.

Honestly mate, the things people will put each other through will always astound me - we live in an awful society right now.

Bless you for your words on alcohol related problems mate, that's also a subject that's dismissed as black and white by so many.

I agree women can be just as bad as men. But how would you feel if it happened to your family? Would you honestly forgive him. I know I wouldn't.

Most United fans have heard all about his antic well before the tape was released last year. I think he will be sacked and think he will find it difficult to play in england again.

DC

There are people I once considered friends who regard me as dirt because of what my ex told them and, as she's the amazing woman who couldn't possibly be vile, that won't change.
Is that fair?

Of course, I consider anyone who's done what he's accused of to be a scumbag, but there's no evidence to prove he did it.
Just because he's got an attitude problem, just because he's a ladies man, just because he's a high profile English footballer, it does not make him guilty.

I mean, what's happened with Mendy?
Multiple accusations, no convictions.
Now, he's far more cocky and full of himself than MG, so where's the respective fallout?

25.) 05 Feb 2023

Asides from the obvious discussions above how about we look at it from a club perspective?

Can the club afford to have the stigma of this hanging around its neck when it is just about to get itself back on its feet?

Does the club need this at a playing level distracting players from their progress?

Yes the club could be seen as being proactive in supporting a troubled player, but it could also be seen as not accepting such behaviour and setting an example to the next generation of players coming through and more importantly to young male fans everywhere.
