Could we see Phil Jones play at some point today?
Maguire is suspended, I'm presuming Varane is still injured. I'm also presuming Lindlhof and Bailly will be the centre back pairing, so kind of semi prepared for an injury or red card. Could either one of them be any worse than Maguire?

If he plays today he will be injured at some point during the game.

2.) 28 Nov 2021 11:19:19
Can see him being on the bench today.

3.) 28 Nov 2021 13:24:30
I hear Harry is planning to wear Phil's shirt and try to sneak on, hope nobody notices.

4.) 28 Nov 2021 13:43:18
I think Maguire has played worse this season than Phil Jones has at any stage of his United career.

5.) 28 Nov 2021 14:02:27
Jones should stay clear of the squad he is nit good enough, should ha e been sold 5 years ago.

6.) 28 Nov 2021 14:26:22
Phil Jones is a good player. Take away the injuries and I'm sure he'd have been a beast.

Not sure how much he'll have lost from being out for so long, and have my doubts that he'll ever get anywhere close to his original potential, but if he gets on the pitch he'll have nothing but support from me.

There's a good article in BBC Sport today about Laurie Cunningham. Worth a read.
Great player in his day. Lucky enough to see him play. United signed him tail end of his career, he'd had some bad injuries due to having lumps kicked out of him.

That Atkinson West Brom team really were a joy to watch.

Bomber brown and regis were a handful and tony goden was a very underrated keeper.

2.) 14 Oct 2021 12:45:20
Goden was a good un. Apologies for that. Derek Statham, when fit, was a hell of a player as well.
Ground breaking team in a lot of ways.

And I was there when they beat us 5-3 at old Trafford. Regis and Cunningham were superb during that match.

Just moving away from the shameful shambles of the past week or so, it's Leeds today, a classic encounter over the years, from the 70's when Don Revie and his team of bully boys would invariably give us a pasting through to the 90's and Cantona and then the noughties, and the pleasure of seeing them implode and relegated! Still, conversely, it's great having them back in the top flight. I'll always remember Radebe going between the posts. What a player he was.
I'll spare a thought for Gordon Mcqueen and his family today. I find it tragic that playing the game you love can have such a negative impact. There's more to life than money and I hope that's recognised and reflected in the game today. All the best.

I'm hoping Amorim is being considered for the managers role at United as well. It will be interesting to see how Sporting perform against City over the two legs.

Anders won't be returning to United's treatment room. Always thought he had more to offer and used to roll around dramatically.
As for Tolisso, seems to be permanently injured. Is he actually any good?

I like Cavani, he'll provide different options for the squad across the front. Rashford and Greenwood can all play on the right. Why not for a season or two. Sancho is an excellent player but I'd much prefer to see a decent centre back brought in with some of the money that would of been spent on him.

Separate issue here, but does anybody think Wan Bissaka could possibly play in the centre back position? I'm not saying he should or shouldn't, I'm just wondering what other, more knowledgeable posters think.

Have a great weekend everyone, fingers crossed for three points today.

Fernandinho has had a few reds to be fair, though nowhere near enough. Pep loved the master of such things, Busquets at Barca, who should of been sent off every other game for some of his antics (good player though! )
Romeu at Southampton is an expert ankle clipper/ body check/ blatant hack artist, every game, such an annoying player.

United responded after Leeds levelled. Rangnick got it right with his changes. Under Ole, he would of done nothing and United would of lost that game. Sancho had a good game, Lindlhof too I thought. And Fred can play football after all. He was great when he came on.
Good game of football. Second half was a proper War of the Roses.

Nick, are players actually demanding who the next manager is and complaining about training methods or is it lazy clickbait "journalism"?

Fundamental change is needed at United and the players can only shoulder a portion of the responsibility for the current predicament. Until the Glazers sell up, I unfortunately see the club performing at this level ie battling for final Champions League spot.

Kane has turned into one of the biggest whingers and moaners on the pitch. Always pleading with the ref and berating officials.
He should fit in well at United.

I see you're point C894, Pep looks at the infrastructure at a club to see if it matches his ideology and vision. Something which is a bit of a mystery at United at the moment. He, or someone with that mindset, would definitely improve us though. But it's a team game off the pitch as well. One person alone won't fix United. It starts at the top.

I can see Ten Haag and Rangnick working well at United, though it's not without risk. But something needs to fundamentally change at United and I just don't see Poch being able to deliver that. I don't really understand his appeal in all honesty. He looks a forlorn, isolated figure at PSG. Just don't think he's the right guy for the job.
