A newspaper reporting LvG has told 5 players face to face between 2pm and 4pm saturday that they need to find new clubs before the transfer window shuts.

Nani, Anderson, Fellaini, Rafael and Hernandez.

What does everybody make of this?

Raymundo4

1.) As far as i'm concerned all of them can leave but a replacement for Rafael would have to come if not i'd be worried about right wing back

2.) No surprises there mate if I am being honest.

It's the incomings I am more concerned about.

Hummels, Vidal and Di Maria would be nice.

But I'd settle for Benatia, Vidal & Cuadrado.

3.) Mata's Beard,

RWB - Cuadrado/Valencia/Janko

LWB - Shaw/Young/James

If we sign Cuadrado then I think we will be well stocked.

4.) 10 Aug 2014 22:23:05
I'd prefer hummels, Vidal and cuadrado.
Did you see earlier Dortmund have named hummels captain today, weak attempt to try guilt him to stay? He wasn't in squad today is he still on a break or injured, or does it look like he's definitely going somewhere?
If we don't get Vidal I think we should keep fellani until jan, at least he can tackle and put himself about a bit when required compared to fletcher and carrick.
I'm a bit surprised about rafael, thought this would be his season but his injury record is terrible so can see where he's coming from. Rest of them can happily go.

5.) Lee, I agree about the guilt thing, they have also made Reus vice captain. Another one of their players who is open to a move.

6.) Lee - Do you honestly believe they would announce him as captain without discussing it with him first?

7.) Redseven, do you honestly think Hummels hasn't been in line for the captaincy for months?

8.) Imagine how bad it would look if they just made him captain and then sell him, he defo not joining us now I have no hope for him coming, so best to find a different centre back

9.) Welbeck should have been first on that list.

10.) Sorry but I think Welbeck is going to be instrumental in our success this year, he really adds something to our attack with his pace, his finishing needs to improve but in no way shape or form does he need to leave.

11.) 11 Aug 2014 09:20:40
Rafael is the surprise but maybe he did not put the effort in with van gaal as well as his injury record. I do think we need to bring in a natural right back from the young players, maybe vermijl or janKo will get a shot as I amember sure we will play 4 at the back some time this year and don't really want to see Jones/Smalling/valencia there.
Interestingly Keane has been mentioned as well.hopefully just a loan move. May indicate that Blackett out performed him and may step up as cover.
Glad we are keeping shinji, not sure where he fits in but good player and also good for marketing purposes!

12.) Welbz should defo not be on that list, I think he's going to be a changed player under LVG. He has muscle and pace, sorts his finishing and final ball out. Watch him go, what do you think Ed?

Stu

13.) I think he is a woman trapped in the body of a 14 year old boy.

14.) Southampton will have Hernandez ;)

15.) I think clev should be in that list

16.) I think Benatia/Blind, Rojo, Vidal, Cuadrado, Di Maria and Depay are somehow done. We definitely have done deals but maybe the Manager wants to have them all in and present them as a group. The strategy could be to do with price hikes if there is arbitrary announcements. Otherwise we shoudn't have released 5 first team players at once on saturday.

All the same hope LVG has a plan and its to win us the EPL and FA Cup in his first year.

17.) I agree, can't see LVG letting five first team players leaving without having anything in place. That said its getting very close to the first game of the season. However, as stated above he might be waiting to present them all at once. Fingers crossed.

Stu

18.) LISTON,

Please send me some of the drugs that you have been taking, if you think that United will be signing 6 of the 7 players you listed there whatever you are on could be just the thing to cure this toothache that is killing me.

05 Aug 2014 19:32:27
Barcelona have apparently bid for Vermaelen and there are reports coming out or Italy that we've bid for Cuadrado. It looks this transfer window is about to start hottin' up!

Raymundo4

1.) I can't see us getting Cuadrado, get the feeling he is using us to get to Barcelona. Vermaelen is our back up to Hummels, I hope he just doesn't go elsewhere and then we don't get Hummels.

2.) I am under the impression that we made it clear to his club weeks ago we would meet his asking price. Our stumbling block is he wants Barcelona, our leg up is Barcelona aren't too fussed about him (at the price quoted). The way I see it if we don't drop our offer, and Barcelona refuse to up theirs, then his options may well be limited.

3.) Just had a thought, maybe one of the eds could explain if this ever happens. Could United have made an agreement with Barca that would see them stepping back from the Vermaelen deal, leaving Barca free to sign him. Meanwhile, as part of the same agreement, Barca steer clear of Cuadrado? Just a thought.

{Ed002's Note - Plenty of clubs make such agreements but this has not happened.}

4.) Thanks Ed

5.) Maybe they've stepped back from Hummels mate? Lol wishful thinking!

6.) That would be amazing mate. Haha

7.) 05 Aug 2014 22:15:39
Not seen much of cuadradro apart from World Cup and the odd game for fiorentina, looks a great players but don't see where he's going to fit in with the new formation? He doesn't seem to be the sort of player to have the work rate and defending ability to play RWB, I'd much rather put the money to Vidal and 2 decent defender with one of them able to cover Shaw like blind. Anyone got any thoughts/info on this?

8.) 05 Aug 2014 23:05:38
Don't want to be negative but I think we'll lose out on both players :(

9.) Mufc_Lee think Cuadrado would fit in nicely as a RWB, whether he'd hit the ground running is another question, I don't believe Rafael is good enough and Valencia is on borrowed time so who would your ideal replacement be as Vidal is more central?

10.) Barcelona have no intrest at all in signing him for the price being quoted. they are not sure that they will be able to match the wages that we would gove him also. there intrest in him has pretty much gone and yes he would prefer barcelona but he would not turn his nose up at a move to utd. its a very possible transfer.

11.) 06 Aug 2014 10:27:29
Langers I agree rafael injury prone, Valencia getting on just don't know how good cuad would be in the defensive part of rwb, maybe I've just not seen enough of him. Ashley young has played well there pre season to be honest. There's isn't too many that spring to mind, janmaat, Santos Cicinho from Valencia is quality there, porto's alex sandro. All a lot cheaper too.

12.) I don't see the point in cuadrado. We have rafael who under the guidance of lvg could reach his potential and be much more consistent. Then valencia has been recently handed a new contract.
Add to this young has operated at both lwb and rwb during pre season and done enough to be given a shot under lvg.
Pluss young saidy janko in the reserves looks like he could do a job for the first team when called upon.
Just doesn't seem at all likely to me we would want him.

13.) Utd need a CB and DM asap not a wide man. we have enough of those already.

Even if Van Gaal wanted to use him as a RWB there are better and cheaper players out there who can do the job (could have got Janmaat for £6m).

Rafael can do a good job in the correct system with the right coaching instructions & Janko in the Under 21's looks a talent and deserves a chance (Carling & FA Cup games).

Get Daley Blind (DM & LB) plus Mats Hummels (CB) and away we go for the new season!

14.) 06 Aug 2014 09:54:35
Ed002 could you confirm this rumour or is it just a Sly sports betting scam (so to speak)

{Ed002's Note - Vermaelan is of interest to Barcelona but is not their first choice.}

That was more like it! A lot of room for improvement still but that will come when the players have had more time together.

Ed004 Are you confident that we will make more signings before the window shuts? Who would you like the club to sign?

Raymundo4

{Ed004's Note - I am confident that we will get a few more signings. I'd be happy with just Vidal tho.}

1.) Same Ed but I think we would need a top cb too.

I have also been hearing some news about Rooney going to psg, hmmm its going to get couple of peoples heart pumping.

Looking forward to going to Valencia game Tuesday. Was reaĺly hoping to see a couple more new signings though but looks like we're struggling to get our targets again! Hope to have some good news by end of week.

Anyone made a fantasy league yet either premier league or the sun? Anybody know a site I can stream the game on tonight?

Raymundo4

1.) 02 Aug 2014 18:51:15
Google wiziwig for a stream, it's got loads of links on it, as long as you have Adblock on your computer you'll be fine

2.) You can stream from youtube as well.

3.) Cheers fellas

For some reason I had a good feeling that we might hear some good news tomorrow. That must be my heart. Now my heads thinking that LvG may be leaving it until after the tour so as not to disrupt the preparations of the squad seen as he has worked hard trying to build up their confidence and has started getting them playing how he wants. I think the players would be better off winning the tournament so they're all on a high, then announce signings so they don't feel as threatened for their places and their all up for the fight. I just think by announcing big named signings whilst they're on tour might kill the confidence of some of the fringe players before the seasons even started.

Raymundo4

1.) I'm guessing you have wind

Agree with you there Danny. I think that's that case. I don't think Rafael or Valencia are up to Rwb position either. So that is a position we should look at. Both Valencia and Rafael could be good squad players and also leave the options for a more stable 4 4 2 formation in certain games or if we need to change tactics at all. So a new Rwb would be a good signing whether that be Cuadrado or somebody else but it makes sense!

Do you not think Blind will be playing CM if the deal is concluded? Or will he play as a Cb stepping up into Cdm position with the ball?

Raymundo4

I'm sure city paid several players wages for about 3 seasons to get them out of the squad. I bet they think Its easier to pay somebody to take them and give you room for a much better player in the squad sometimes.

Although he was only on the pitch about 20 mins against Valencia Fresh, it was great to see Januzaj play. He is quality, the ball just sticks to his feet and he goes by players like they're not there. He also drifted into the wide areas to get the ball and caused them a lot of problems. Janujaz to start and Hernandez to come on with fresh legs for the last half hour.

Cant see us getting rid of Hernandez without having big replacements in the squad. he's too big a player to lose gets goals and always works his socks off

De jong definitely. Somebody who knows exactly what the dm position entails and will break play up a lot better and that's what our midfield is lacking
