Surely the rumours of John McGinn being 'monitored' are nonsense?

So72

1.) 30 Jun 2019 09:05:23
Nonsense I expect, but he is actually a superb box to box player. Scores goals, great on the ball and loads of energy. He will be considered a top league by the end of the season.

2.) 30 Jun 2019 09:18:11
I'd imagine they are nonsense. However, I've seen a lot of McGinn since he played at Hibs and he is a good player. I don't think he will ever get to a level where he is considered good enough to be first choice at United but he will show this season he is clearly a Premier League player and he will spend the majority of his career in the Premier League. For me he is a player who will end up at a Leicester, Everton or West Ham level.

3.) 30 Jun 2019 10:02:38
Im from scotland and seen john mcginn play for years and followed him when he moved to aston villa. I
can assure you he is more hard working and industrious gives 100 percent every time he plays which is more than can be said of any midfielder we have got at club at the moment granted i wouldn't pay 50 but if we could get him for 20 that would be a steal in this market.

4.) 30 Jun 2019 12:19:44
I am also from Scotland and have seen him play plenty. The boy is good but he isn't Man Utd good.

5.) 30 Jun 2019 13:26:05
What is man utd good these days scott mctominay matic periera or fred take your pick i would take mcginn over any of them.

Ed, is there any interest in Kieran Tierney or is that just Scottish pub talk?

So72

{Ed007's Note - There's always interest in KT but the Club don't want to sell and the lad has no intentions of leaving Celtic for long time yet.}

1.) 17 Dec 2018 18:50:14
Cheers Ed 00Henrik!

Can see KT staying a long time but hope he makes the jump at some point to a club like Utd. Anything less wouldn't tempt him I imagine.

{Ed007's Note - If (probably when) he leaves it'll be a footballing decision rather than money and I know he does have a soft spot for Utd and don't think he would fancy being too far from his family and friends.}

I have not been a fan of Ole for a long time and, when he finally goes, I think the entire coaching staff needs to be bulleted along with him.

Last night Phelan saw what was wrong and nobody showed any real gusto to stop it. It was a total abdication of duty. Our team doesn't look like its being set up properly against 90% of opposition. There are no patterns to our play and this isbthe worst defence I have seen at a big club in years. What do they do on the training ground?

I don't think the players have downed tools, they're just given no instructions on what to do. We need a manager and a background staff who are at the top level and all share similar views on how the game should be played. We need an identity to our play.

Personally, I'm not sold on Poch but think he would be a big improvement. I'd perhaps look at a Nuno with Cathro and the rest of his team at Wolves. I like Nagelsmann too. Doubt either would come into Utd though.

So72

1.) 05 Nov 2020 11:35:06
Agree with Nuno, would be an interesting choice, premier league experience and a great beard. His family stills lives in Portugal and he lives in a flat overlooking the Wolves training ground during the season, which sounds familiar, would that suddenly be an issue under the pressure of managing United.
Poch for me no, Nagelsmann is Madrid bound, already turned them down once.

2.) 05 Nov 2020 12:28:29
This is not based on last nights game but what really annoys out of me about Ole is the way he sits there with a silly half grin on his face looking at the bloody screen whilst tapping away at it. How can he sit there watching that load of crap and show no emotion or no expression. You look at the likes of Pep, Klopp, Jose and even Brendan Rogers who are constantly stood up on the touchline constantly barking out orders and giving opinions about what they are watching and trying to improve and change things. When i look at Ole sat on that seat he just zaps all the energy out of me. He looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights. The whole thing is depressing, we need to move and make a change. The gap between us and the top 4 is already 6 points and we are only 6 games in.

3.) 05 Nov 2020 12:29:34
Fair point re. Nuno's living situation. It would be a step up in pressure but he seems a strong character and I like coaches who have an identity. Nagelsmann may well go to Madrird, good luck to him if he does.

4.) 05 Nov 2020 15:09:31
Hassenhuttl would be an upgrade at this stage.

His teams play attacking football and he sets them out with an identifiable plan.

Also he showed after the 9 -0 defeat that he's got character and determination.

I hope I am wrong but I can't see us shifting Ole this week.

If we do get rid of him (and I know the problems run much deeper), who are our options?

Poch for sure.

Ragnick? Could probably do with him in 3 or 4 roles at the club.

Laurent Blanc? I've touted him before but he's been out of management for 4 years now so probably not.

Allegri? Decent option.

Please avoid the following - Sarri, Howe, Kovac.

There are lots of other talented managers and I'd love to see Nagelsman take chargd ofnus in the future but no chance someone like him would want to come work in our structure.

So72

1.) 05 Oct 2020 07:55:58
Ragnick showed the willingness to leave the RB setup and join AC Milan, who have been in a similar situation to us. A club with great history slowly declining largely die to mismanagement.
However that appointment didn't go through because some people didn't want to give up power due to various reason and Ragnick ended up staying at RB for now.
I think he would get bit more power at the club if he were to replace OGS but still would he be happy with a much reduced role than at RB currently? We should go for him because he has shown himself to be a good manager and good Sporting Director. By time people have, in the past, shown an unwillingness to lose some of their power at the club.

Also Kovac joined Monaco just this summer so we don't really "need" to avoid him because he isn't "there" to be avoided.

2.) 05 Oct 2020 15:02:55
Forgot Kovac went there. Ragnick is my pick.

26 Sep 2020 14:27:52
That result can't be allowed to paper over the absolute abject performance. We deserved to get absolutely hammered there. The running of the club is abysmal but that isn't a good enough excuse to let Ole away with how out his depth he is.

19 Jul 2020 19:26:29
Why does De Gea keep getting picked every week? Ole's loyalty to him is going to cost us the FA Cup and possibly top 4.

So72

1.) 19 Jul 2020 19:33:00
Agreed.

He let us down last season and this season. Blind faith by OGS.

Balague claiming Man Utd bidded €100million for Ansu Fati of Barcelona. He says Barcelona rejected the approach which was made with Jorge Mendes.

So72

1.) 08 Jun 2020 11:45:32
I wouldn't say there is much if any truth in that report.

2.) 08 Jun 2020 12:13:13
Or any report from Balague if we are going to be brutally honest.

3.) 08 Jun 2020 14:06:59
I'm not a linguists but I'm pretty sure Balague is Spanish for Bollocks😂.

4.) 08 Jun 2020 16:34:47
Willy Bawbag is a well know bs merchant.

We should just sign Borna Barisic from Rangers. One of the best crossers of a ball from full back in Europe, croatian international with interest from teams across Europe. Would be a big step-up but Tierney and Robertson have handled it no problem.

Lindelof is a good centre half.

{Ed047's Note - compared to Chris Smalling or Phil Jones?

When will teams like Utd realise that it would be much cheaper to pick up the likes of Dembele directly from Scottish teams. The next one that will come to a top 6 team via someone else for x10 the fee is Tierney. We should be looking at taking a punt on these players rather than paying fortunes more a couple years later.

Every chance the club were stalling to see if DDG would stay.

Interesting post Redman.

I wish we played like Rangers do. They get their fullbacks right high and wide whilst their 'wide' players are always tucked in. That, I think, would compliment Ole's desire to have inverted wingers whilst still giving us width in the form of fullbacks. Of course, this is a tactic designed for dominating matches and they, like Utd, play counter attacking football against bigger sides (think Gerrard has only lost 5 out of 37 European games up in Glasgow) . But I thinkit could work for us with 2 cms (Pogba/ VdB and Fred/ McTominay) playing as pivots. l.

Won't get backed? How much are you wanting us to spend exactly? The guy is a dud. Would any other team give him a job in the prem? Doubt it.
