Just a question to everyone, Do you see the loan of Falcao as a sort of one year bedding in period with RVP leaving after this season as then teams would know we are desperate for a top striker then and there isn't many around . So loaning Falcao for a year with the option to buy means we have a ready made replacement. I have just got to say although I am not chuffed about no Vidal or Carvalho etc. We have Falcao and Di Maria! Which Man United fan expected that!

I know rumours are circulating we have had our bid for Shaw rejected but surely if it was our first bid then we will be willing to at least break out another few million, I know its a bunch of cash for a left back but he is outstanding very young which means years of service and in the system I think LvG will play the full backs are very important. Come on Woodward get our man!

So now Moyes is at the PSG game, he really does look like he's trying to do something this window but it is all if buts and maybes imo.

George711

1.) Ibrahimovic? Haha.

{Ed004's Note - Matuidi... All I will say ;)}

2.) There's a few English teams watching him tonight. He came off the bench with ten minutes left at 1-1 and turned the game (getting on the score-sheet in the process to make it 3-1).

He's been one of their best players this year and I'm surprised they have allowed him to run his contract down. A poor man's Pogba but a huge step up from what we currently have.

If we agree a deal with the player I'd like to see us pay a few million to PSG and take him now rather than o a free in the summer.

3.) Ed004 - Is Matuidi of any significant interest to us or are you just teasing ;)

{Ed004's Note - Can't say}

4.) Ed004 - interesting, any idea as to if this is potentially a jan move or looking to the summer? Cheers

5.) I hope so ed, very good player.

Maybe even Digne?

Do you for sure who it is he's there for?

6.) Cheap. Would make sense especially if we manage to lighten the wage bill elsewhere. Like it how Ed is being coy, he's either laughing at people getting excited or it's genuine info. Either way 1-0 to Ed.

7.) I really hope Ed004 is extracting the urine. I don't watch French football and I know stats are not everything but Matuidi PSG 84 games 8 goals 1 assist. FFS 1 assist? goalkeepers have better stats than this. Still he is free this summer so "the right price" man I hate that phrase.

8.) Grind, I think you have given an excellent example of the dangers of basing your opinions on stats alone.

9.) Moyes was at PSG to apparently view a range of players and also discuss the availability of others in the squad. I have heard of interest in Lucas Moura (which was true in the past as well) but not sure if this info is very reliable for a deal at this point or in the future.

Maybe this is me in overdrive but Villas-Boas has refused to confirm or deny Gareth Bale has asked to leave and coincidentally Moyes and a few coaches were at the Spurs game. Now I don't think Bale will come to us but still nice to speculate.

George711

1.) Just a girly opinion but either we ARE getting Bale, or we ARE getting Ronaldo and 2 more.

2.) Putting 2 & 2 together and coming up with 5 as usual. Utd are in HK as part of the club tour and play there this week.

3.) Fabregas and Baines will be the only signings.

4.) And Ed Woodward returned home to handle urgent retooling transfer business

5.) I think it's time to start looking for those players who want to join us. For sure, see this Cesc thing through to the end, which I feel is very close, but still look for other strong midfielders. If Chelsea want Rooney, than they can give us Mata. We can give Everton 37 million for Baines and Fellaini. There's Cabaye, Oscar de Marcos, Draxler, Reus, De-Rossi many players that may well like the idea of playing for United. Cabaye, Baines and Fellaini are all getable and for 60 million or so. Cesc would be nice, but 35 million and 200k per week seems a bit over the top to me. It is time to go for the possible rather than daydream of marquee (silly bloody term) players.

6.) £35m is over the top for Fabregas but £60m isn't for Baines, Cabaye and Fellaini, LOL! What you smoking pal

Alex Fergusons Condom

7.) Cabaye, Baines and Fellaini imo would vastly improve our starting 11 and would ideally cost around £50m.

8.) Mik

Reus and draxler will be even more difficult than cesc as they are key men in their clubs set up where cesc is a suad player for barca.

I think reus on current form is Dortmund's highest valued player and would cost a fortune to get and dortmund will not entertain any offers for him. Draxler potentially will turn out to be the best of the whole lot but would also cost a fortune.

9.) Couldn't agree more with "Alex Fergusons Condom".
Oh wait. did I say that right?

How can a manager do a decent job with players like Smalling doing stupid things like that?!? On another note I thin we play much better in the diamond formation and Di Maria gets more involved that way too. Out wide he looks isolated at times and doesn't get enough of the ball to cause a threat.

George711

1.) It was hardly a threat. Poor decision. It could well be Smalling's last game in United colours.

Absolutely loved the spirit shown today.
Would play our centre backs in this order: Jones, Carrick, Evans, Mcnair.
Blackett, Smalling and Rojo have all been so poor.

We really need a centre-half. Effectively 2. Shawcross or Kjaer or Miranda or anyone who could play regularly.
Jones Smalling and Evans are really un-dependable. Always injured. Like Ledley King.

2.) If only we had a player as good as Ledley King. Evans, Jones and Smalling are nowhere near that level. Smalling showed a real lack of intelligence and experience. The occasion definitely got to him. We do need two centre backs. And a right back.
I thought Shaw had a pretty solid game. Good to see Carrick back. And Fellaini continues to impress.
He looks like he has found his feet. I've never really rated him. But he fully deserves some credit.

So one change from last weekend with Falcao in for Mata. I think it is the one change many expected but it is the one I feared. I think we lack a lot of creativity and spark in the middle without Mata and would have dropped RVP for Falcao for today as he looks out of sorts.

I have just read about Andreas Pereira's contract situation and I have to say that I am worried as I think he has the potential to become a sensation in world football if he progresses the way many expect. Sign him up don't create another Pogba situation.

George711

1.) 21 Sep 2014 10:34:50
And what was the Pogba situation George? It has been covered by the ed's already? Unless you mean just a general us losing another very good young player.

2.) Yeah I know, I didn't mean the whole malarky of him getting hoarded around Europe but just a young player leaving and us regretting it massively.

14 Sep 2014 17:41:05
I have to say I prefer Mata in there with 2 of the 3 strikers on the pitch, we look like we are lacking a little creativity in and around where Mata was.

George711

I think I would go for this team today, I wouldn't drop Mata as I think we need as many creative people in the team as possible at the minute as we seem to be lacking goals at the minute. Hopefully Shaw will be a big threat down the left whipping balls in and I hope Di Maria gets his free license to just run at the opposition as we all know that is his game.

I would hope that if he is going to move we would go in for him as I think he is best used on the right of a front 3 and can play across the front anywhere if needed. A front 3 of Rooney, RVP and Mueller would be devastating with Mata behind then 2 new centre mids or Fellaini and someone like Classie sort of a 42121.

For his size he is very quick as he is quite a bulky guy naturally. If the reported price £32m is right then if I was a Chelsea fan I would be very happy as I would pay up to £40m for him I think he's that good.

Extremely good player and is the type of forward I would want if I managed in the premier league, he has pace, power, technique, skill, finishing. He will be a great buy for Chelsea if they manage t get his signature.

Have they bid for him now? I expected it but not until they had sold Fellaini, maybe we are closer to signing him than we think.

For the first time all season we look like Manchester United, it could be 5-0 by now. . Got to say Blind and Herrera make one hell of a difference then Di Maria is just immense.

Syd! Maybe LVG has seen Young play really well on tour and thinks he may be the best at RWB for the upcoming season then Valencia as understudy? Obviously if we sign Cuadrado then Young will be back up for Shaw but if not then I can see Young as the the number one RWB.

I could not agree more Nomidfield. He has all of the captain qualities and I have always believed a central midfielder should be captain due to their positioning on the pitch.
