Everyone saying we need a like for like replacement for Carrick but to be honest I think we might be better getting someone in the Makelele role, someone to break up play. We've got Pogba and Mkhitaryan who can pick the killer pass. Plus it will let Pogba and Herrera roam further forward.
Thoughts?

Krychowiak is someone I'm a big fan of and I think he'd be a great addition if looked at. Not a like for like replacement but is quality nonetheless.
If we are going for someone who is more of a passer then for me Veratti would be ideal but he won't be coming in. Jorginho at Napoli is a very good player who controls the game from the central midfield role.
Bakayoko at Monaco is also someone we are looking at.

Verratti would be My choice but that seems a non starter.

havent seen much of goretzka, but form what I have seen of weigl, would love him at the club. don't think there is any chance though.

We could look for more of a destroyer rather than a builder in the No.6 role. But that would put a lot more emphasis on our other midfielders to control and dictate our play.
I think its difficult to work out the best way forward. A lot of people thought Carrick wasn't the right replacement for Keane, but at the time there was very few people who could have slotted into the team and played the same way with no drop off in quality. Maybe only Essien or Gattuso, De Rossi maybe.
So instead we looked to evolved, maybe with few options to Carrick who plays similar to him then maybe a change of tact is best. Kroos is the one who I Think could play the same way as well. Other than that we might have to look to someone younger like Weigl to build up.
So maybe a change to someone like Bakayoko or William Carvalho could work.

Jose could maybe spend the Schneiderlin money on Bakayoko from Monaco. Could do a good job as a number 6.

I like the look of Bakayoko. If we're going for a similar style player, I'd love Verratti or Kroos, but ed has said we aren't interested in either so we must be looking elsewhere.

Kroos would be a dream player. Best in the world in that position, even better than the great Carrick.
I hope we revisit his situation as it looks like he is on the way out

I too would love Kroos. Ed002 has said he is available in the summer and Madrid have talked to two clubs about him. We are not one of them. City are unfortunatly
{Ed004's Note - I would look at trying to get Zlatan to talk to Verratti. A midfield of him and Pogba along with either Carrick or Herrera would be brilliant}

I like Kroos but he does not play As the deepest midfielder for Madrid and didn't at bayern. That is not to say he can't play there.
Super passing range. City are on his case and add stand says madrid would like to sell him in the summer
{Ed004's Note - Honestly think we will need 2 midfield signings anyways with Schweinsteiger, Fellaini, Schneiderlin and Mensah (loan) leaving. Would want to go into next season with Pogba, Herrera, Carrick, a DM (like Bakayoko) and cm (like Verratti, Kross, Tielmans) and Perriera as our options. We will hopefully be competing on more fronts (champions league) or worst case scenario we will have a better squad to compete in Europa and the league. Would definitely be higher quality}

also different teams different options but look at the attributes he has and the strong points of his game and he should do great in that position

With all this talk of Griezmann being offered 220,000 a week to join, in your opinion are we going in for him now or will we push for him in summer?

In regards to Griezman, I doubt that AM would sell him in the jan transfer window unless a ludicrous offer came along.

Santos president says Manchester Utd and Chelsea have contacted them about Barbosa, what do we make of that? I'd be happy with him for next season.
