Hi Edds what's the rumours about Mario Mandzukic any interest at all?

i have looked through the posts but can't see anything about it.

xGAZx

{Ed001's Note - there is interest from a number of clubs, they are trying to bring in a replacement.}

1.) 12 Jun 2015 11:37:58
I miss the detailed updates from Ed002 on who we are looking at etc

2.) 12 Jun 2015 11:53:56
I do too, an updated list would go down a treat wouldn't it. I find myself looking at the other clubs sites deciphering if the term 'moving elsewhere' or 'interest elsewhere' means United ha.
Any chance of a reprieve Ed002 for us devils?

{Ed001's Note - he is travelling at the moment, so he is only popping on the sites the odd moment here and there over the last few days. I would think he wouldn't have time to spare to give a reprieve right now, even if he wanted to.}

EiG,

You aren't the only one mate :(

i have an idea?

how about instead of guessing who we're going to buy or why we are selling squad players why not wait to see what happens?

*Mind Blown*

{Ed004's Note - But that's no fun?}

1.) 04 Aug 2015 13:13:42
just trying to make the edd's jobs easier and the readers eyes less painful.

im bald enough, if i see another post about us signing bale or ronaldo i think i might get my mirrir out and start plucking the one or two hairs i have left out

After the red card against Man City smalling was our best defender and he was playing with Valencia (makeshift rb did well though) and Jones who has regressed since joining us. i think we only need 1 top cb as we had the third best defensive record. Yes DDG was main reason for this but with the better midfield and a top class cb next to smalling i think that would be enough.

As for a striker we need someone that will be content for sitting on the bench and realising he is second choice to rooney as Van Gaal has said rooney is our striker this year. I don't think ibra would want to do that.

I would take a look and Meier from Frankfurt seems to be a similar player to RVN

Or second choice Bas Dost looks to have improved in the build up play last season.

With both being at clubs a level lower than United they might be willing to join and play back up to rooney.

what do you guys think?

xGAZx

1.) 03 Aug 2015 10:23:26
Still don't get all the play second fiddle to Rooney crap. It's insane. Let's get a striker in of equal quality and push Rooney make him earn his place in the side. If Rooney off form It's madness he still plays. He should have to perform like anyone else. I'd bring in Lewandowski and move Rooney on next summer personally

2.) 03 Aug 2015 10:34:40
Both would be decent IMO.
More preferable to the likes of Llorente

3.) 03 Aug 2015 11:07:06
Too many people underestimate rooney.will be our all time top goalscorer i think he is good enough to stay at the club for the next 3 or 4 seasons aswell IMO.

Also lewandowski won't sit on the bench so we need to be realistic.

Moving rooneny on next season is abit harsh i think he performs for us and puts his heart into every game he epitomises all that Manchester United is about (bar the stress he had to get more money)

4.) 03 Aug 2015 11:30:34
lewandowski is a good player 17 league goals last season but he won't come to sit on the bench .
you need a striker to get 20 league goals a season , time will tell but i think rooney can get us that .
what we need is cover on the bench if rooney is injured and goals from other areas of the team

5.) 03 Aug 2015 11:45:36
Completely agree jred. I think rooney can get us that aswell just needs the service. the striker we need is someone that will sit on the bench getting game time as and when who will chip in with goals. it won't be anyone big time.

6.) 03 Aug 2015 11:54:53
I don't rate Rooney that highly but I think he is capable of 20 goals, especially if he is on penalties.

My problem is a striker in this system needs to be a focal point and link up or create space, Rooney is not great at any part of that.

In terms of records - He will get goals, just because he plays upfront for Utd, same as Crouch got goals for England. If Crouch had played upfront for Utd for 10 years he would be our record goalscorer, same if he played as many games for England.

7.) 03 Aug 2015 12:20:06
Haha so crouch is as good as Rooney? Another classic comment.

8.) 03 Aug 2015 12:25:33
I think if he plays like he did that season he bagged 42 goals and gets the service we could see rooney playing at his potential. what he needs to do is score more consistantly rather than sporadically

9.) 03 Aug 2015 12:32:49
What we need is a world class CF and Rooney fighting for his place.

10.) 03 Aug 2015 12:41:51
Ozwald you took that out of context.

Beast was saying we crceate enough goalscoring chance for a striker to be able to get the goals and crouch would have loved it when we had beckham giggs neville etc all crossing the ball in for him.

Never once did he say crouch was as good as rooney

11.) 03 Aug 2015 12:48:23
Beast,

Crouch thing a joke? What an embarrassing thing to say.

12.) 03 Aug 2015 13:41:24
Don't get me started on Rooney!! 😕😕😕

13.) 03 Aug 2015 13:44:55
Gaz. You want us to buy someone who is not good enough so he is happy to sit on the bench! ! Is this not the most ridiculous statement ever.
We need lewandawaski to come in.and give rooney proper competition.

14.) 03 Aug 2015 14:16:04
No i never said to bring someone in that isn't good enough. Everyone on here is sprouting ronaldo, lewandowski, benzema, higuain, cavani and ibra when the likelihood of getting them is slim to none. what we need is a very good striker like i said meier or dost they both score goals and they're already in an established league and both played european football. therefore the transition for them to move into the prem and get game time when rooney is having a rest or is injured would be good plus they would be going from a good club to a great club.

PLUS i think that if we brought in lewandowski he would be our number 1 striker because he is top 5 in the world. THE reason it won't happen is because Van Gall has already said ROONEY will lead the line.

15.) 03 Aug 2015 14:44:43
No I'm saying that buying the players people keeping coming up with (ronaldo, benzema, lewandowski, higuain, cavani & ibra) would mean rooney would be our main striker and since Van Gaal has said ROONEY will be our main striker we can put these names to bed.

We need a striker that is good enough to make the step up but needs to prove it so he try's hard in training and try's performing when given the chance.

I think Meier and Dost both fit that category so would like them to be looked at.

16.) 03 Aug 2015 16:45:41
gaz
im with you ,i would sign someone like berahino.
lewandowski will cost 40+ mill and big wages we won't be paying that on a player unless he is going to be starting in the first 11.
lew got 17 league goals last season playing for a very attacking strong munich team . if he had done that for united people would want him sold .
yet at the moment he is a must buy.

dunno why everyone is hyping up vidal yes he is a good player and has experience in the champions league but was a liability for juve i'd much prefer marchiesio.

also as a striker why not try and get icardi or immobile they are cheaper options and younger with a lot of potential

xGAZx

1.) 08 Jun 2015 14:25:54
Icardi is unavailable for transfer (which the Ed has stated countless times) and as for Immobile, well, he is just pure rotten.

2.) 08 Jun 2015 14:41:30
I'd also prefer an established Striker to come in and give Wilson who is even younger and has even more potential then those two a chance in the first team squad.

3.) 08 Jun 2015 14:47:31
I'm guessing you're basing this off of one game against one of the best teams ever ay Gaz?

4.) 08 Jun 2015 15:36:25
What I liked about Vidal in the Barcelona game was that he got stuck in. He made it harder for the opponents to dwell on the ball, and contributed to what was a game that hung in the balance until Barca's second. In the end the difference in the teams was Barca's formidable front three.

Going back to the second game against RM I thought he, rather than Pogba, was the midfield driving force.

If he played with that heart and tenaciousness in the EPL he would be an asset, and compared to the lesser quality of opposition would almost certainly shine. We could use him.

5.) 08 Jun 2015 16:01:37
vidal was a liability because of the amount of challenges he was making whilst being on a yellow, but how many players in our current squad are willing to make all the challenges vidal made?

we are crying out for a midfielder that likes to do what vidal does not one of our midfielder's do the dirty stuff and are willing to make challenges often enough.

its all well and good having a nice bunch of nice playing players, but vidal would add a bit of grit and steal that we need when we come across teams more physical.

6.) 08 Jun 2015 16:32:50
immobile is a very good player with a lot of potential aswell -JMB

I think wilson as good as it is to train with the first team should maybe get loaned to a prem team to get regualer games in the prem but agree he has a lot to give united - Ports

No i'm basing this on the fact that he had a job to do for juve and he didn't do it and every time I've watched them he has chased around after the ball. much better centre midfeilders out there that can do just as good a job as him and be cheaper. Schneiderlin for one would do better and would be cheaper to. or the likes of Clement Grenier, Ezequiel Cirigliano, Younes Belhanda, Victor Wanyama.

what you also have to realise is we are going to need atleast 2 centre mids as currently we look lost without carrick

7.) 08 Jun 2015 16:47:12
i agree that we need a player willing to put his body on the line but if he had been sent off juve would have been ruined. There was a couple where i think the ref was lenient on him aswell. I just feel there are a lot of players that can do that job without the massive pricetag and wages

remember roy keane came from ireland and cost us pennies so we don't need to spend in excess of 30-40 million for vidal when we could spend 20 and get someone that is able to to that job

8.) 08 Jun 2015 17:50:33
Roy Keane cost us a British record transfer fee when we signed him. hardly pennies

9.) 08 Jun 2015 19:20:40
But at 3.25 million he gave most of his career to united. Vidal isn't worth breaking our new transfer record for and we will only get him for 3 or 4 years max. Getting a younger player that can do the same job woulf be more beneficial

10.) 08 Jun 2015 19:51:47
Haha that is pure gold, Keane costing pennies and coming from Ireland? Signed from Forest mate

11.) 08 Jun 2015 20:59:28
What are you talking about gaz? Roy Keane cost an arm and a leg at the time. Record fee we paid for him.

12.) 09 Jun 2015 10:31:56
alright guys chill out :-)

all i'm saying is that we shouldn't pay 30-40 million for a player that will only give us 3 years or 4 years when there's players out there that can do that job just aswell and are younger.

13.) 09 Jun 2015 12:27:23
If someone said to me you will win the league or champ league but have to pay 30 or 40 mil on 1 player every year and won't be able to use him again i say money well spent becasuse winning these competitions is how you grow and attract names.

Carrick is still one of the best centre mids in the league i'd keep him and let schweini go.

Id take ronaldo at the right price purely because he is a world beater. Only problem would be that he needs to play centre forward now as he isn't as pacey as he used to be.

I agree with shappy manchester united is the biggest club in the world and any manager with enough balls to test themselves would want to manage them for me if we were talking about any manager. I'd like to see pochetino (spelling) as he works well with youngsters but also plays good football.

He signed a contract out of respect but there will be a clause in the contract that if real madrid put in such an such amount then he goes. let's not get hard ons over it

Is this ANOTHER rooney debate jesus crist.

Any player not playing well should be dropped IF (big if) there is a replacement able to step in without weakening the side.

A bad rooney is still a solid 6.5 performance rating IMO.

Also says a lot when ibrahimvic openly says rooney is the best strike partner anyone could have. He knows rooney will help feed him and do the running for him.

So you want ua to become a chelsea or a man city and just pump money into transfers to get a galatico team.

De Gea i agree with easily. Darmain gives too many fouls away. Smalling is good enough to stay. We need another centre back and we need to bring through mcnair etc. Lb we have shaw and cbj i'd get rid of rojo he's toilet.

Midfield schweini has to go done nothing this year. Carrick is going to be irreplaceable. Herrera gives to many fouls away but i like his work rate. Rooney looks good behind the strikers but needs to be told not to drop to deep. Would like us to sign kante though as for the right price we could get him and also he has the legs in midfield to make up for carrick.

Lingard has been one of our better players this season i love that he has the united way in his blood. He always turns towards opposition goal and is direct. Same as rashford he has been a light in other wise a dark season. Depay needs to just play get off his case and let the boy play. We didn't restrict ronaldo when he came, he didn't defend he attacked and threw his step overs in as well. Martial is a different class and has been our best outfield player this year since he signed. Mata i think he is a very good player but i don't know how you would fit him in if you want pace pn the wongs because i don't see him being effective in attacking centre midfield and he slows the game to much.

Thats my opinion aswell.

Im going to go with lukaku i want it to be done. Rashford and lukaku can battle up top with martial wide rooney deep and maybe depay right. Lukaku will bring other players into the game is a strong physical presence that can hold the ball up aswell as score goals. All for 30 million. YES!

I don't think we are failing. We have had injuries and a lot of our youth products have stepped up. Pogba wasnt signed as a quality player he was signed ashaving quality potential which we nutured.
