I feel sorry for Lammens, his confidence is shot. Having that back 4 in front of you, week in and out will ruin you.

The same thing that happened to DDG, is happening to Lammens.

I feel sorry for all the young players.

People keep blaming Carrick, but he simply doesn't have a defense to work with.

We simply don't have a single seasoned Premier League quality defender, except possibly Shaw and he's injured again and getting on.

What's going to change to stave off relegation? Adriana Lima couldn't get a rise out of this lot. And while we have a transfer window coming up, the best players aren't going to be available.

A different manager lol. Ridiculous thing to say.

A better coach can definitely get more out of this. You don’t have to be world class to defend properly. You just need to know your job and be in the right spot more often than not. Most of these players are internationals, they can’t be that bad.

Today is going to determine Carrick’s future. Lose and he’s gone, a win and he might keep his job.

The team is coming off their most encouraging half of football, and how he sets them up will speak volumes. The signs are not encouraging. Despite talk of Younger players getting a shot, Amad and Dalot are starting. Lack of energy in the middle too. It feels like Carrick is reverting to type and I think it will cost him his job.

I don’t want to see us lose, but leaving Lacey on the bench feels like a big mistake. He’s a player with energy and hunger. It’s all well and good to trust in experience when it’s working. Sticking with underperforming players, however, is weak.

It's like he wants the sack at this stage. How you can put any faith in Amad and Dalot is beyond me.

The Villa midfield will tear through this team, and Jackson will run past the back line for fun.

1st sign of madness: keep trying the same thing and expect it to turn out different.

Amad and Dalot both starting again….just rewarding mediocrity and yet expecting something different. Really thought after Tuesday that Lacey would get a start but as usual it’s just same again.

I thought Lacey would get a go too. got to feel for the lad, gave a brilliant cameo and then is benched. maybe this is why JJ is leaving. No pathway. Amass deserved a shot at lb, no actual lb in the squad and he puts RB that can't even play RB at lb. You can't make this up tbh.

Never thought I’d see the day United are bottom of the league.

Still time to play in the other games, so could change before the villa game kicks off.

Anything less than a win has to see carrick going.

Im not going into the Villa game with any confidence of a win. No idea what United turn up, and Villa can be amazing or not also. As normal, first goal will be vital

I did not expect to this season for sure. We all knew, with a fuller schedule and a thin squad it was going to be more of a challenge, However, I was surprised by the club's failure to strengthen in areas obviously needing it, and general lack of ambition. Debt straight-jacket or not, their approach seems penny wise pound foolish, especially if it results in relegation.

What sort of performance are we expecting today? So many of the matches this season have started out with a bit of control, a bit of possession, and a few chances that then don't go in. Then there's some absolute muppetry that leads to a goal and then everybody has a bit of a panic.
The Roma game was fun but basically in the second half it was United coming out to play with absolutely nothing to lose at that point so they could go all guns blazing for goals.
This afternoon against Villa we're going to have to be careful. Personally I'd far rather see us go hell for leather and try and outscore them 5-4 than play a cagey game trying to control it, somehow expecting to nullify their threat. That is a sure route to disaster.
I've got nothing against Carrick. He's been dealt a terrible hand this summer with the utter incompetence on the transfer front and I really hope he just throws caution to the wind now. He's probably done for anyway so he may as well try and go out in a blaze of glory.

A crap one. I expect villa to tear us apart today and go at least 2 up before HT.

It's very strange that this run of form has not resulted in a sacking. Even those of us who find Carrick uninspiring could not have predicted our current league position and if we had, surely he would have been.dismissed. Yet here we are.

I know we've done it to death but the incompetence at the top has been staggering, ETH contract then sacking him, the Amorim recruitment and then telling him how to play, and then the Carrick apppointment. And now dithering after what has been a sustained period of awfulness.

Carrick lookms ost and changr is coming, but does anyone have any confidence in the next appointment?

Not really. It's probably Howe and it'll end the same way as all the others.

Until half of our first-team squad come from the academy, there's a clear style of play from top to bottom across the entire club, we can recruit a reasonable mix of high-potential and elite-level players and get rid of players who are no longer good enough, then no manager/head coach is going to be able to achieve the success that's expected and they'll be the ones to take the fall.

The band on the Titanic was one of the most enduring stories of heroism from the disaster. They continued to play as the ship sank.
The fans that sing the song about “Carrick” tomorrow need to remember that situation as we sit in the relegation zone.

Ole had us playing miles better football than the dross carrick is serving up and his was murdered on here

The fact Amorim and ten hag we're blasted weekly in the media and by fans and yet we sit 18th and he's still in a job 😂

It is baffling how he is still manager

The players are crap yes but he is not getting a tune from them and it needs to change quick

We will be 2 points off safety after tomorrow 😂.

Looks like we r heading into tomorrows game in the bottom 3…massive focus now on the players so it will be interesting to see how they respond to a completely different sort of pressure. Last game before another international break so we need a positive performance and result cos immediately after that is a trip to anfield!’ Yikes!

Its looking bleak. these players don't seem to have the stomach for it. Badly need a win, but its blind hope.

Does anyone have contact details for the fans organising the protests? I have been thinking about ways that would be more effective then walking out of a game you've already brought a ticket from and want to float some ideas.

No idea

But, I would start by encouraging the fans to not buy from the in stadium bars, turn their backs to the pitch at an agreed minute.

I know Ken, it won't make any difference.

Im not sure that will help us win points.
We could just support the team.
