Any truth to the interest in Golovin the commentators spoke about during the match? They said Arsenal were interested but pulled out, that United were still linked.

You know it's silly season when you read a report that United and Real are set to go head to head for the signing of Salah. They could at least come out with some plausible drivel.

I've read before here that United are not one for swap deals, is this still the case? Just makes it easier to dismiss many of the tabloid rumours if so.

Lovely. Ed002 says the club prefer not to for some reason.
With the way fees have gone it seems the logical thing to do if there is a case where each teams and both players are open to it.
Both agents must be open to it too.
With the finances involved and contractual complexities i'd imagine it gets more complicated the more people involved in the deal.
Things become less transparent and double the amount of people to keep happy.

Yeah Ken, that's what I was hinting at. I like that stance personally and it allows us to dismiss ridiculous rumours.

So Neymar comes out with "I have a low pain threshold", yet he is covered in tattoos, they must be quite shaky the way he wriggles and rolls at the slightest of touches.

@The beast, well i'm sorry for what i'm about to say but for the very first time since 1990 i see a proper english team, you guys were always favorites but only in your press and country and some people used to say that because of your name but never ever really had a team to make that statement, you had very good players but played the same primitive way you had always played and that was enough to beat some countries but never against the best, now for the very first time i see a proper english team maybe you don't have a masterclass like scholes anymore but are finally playing footy the right way and you guys need to understand that the possesion game that you are playing now is new to your players so if you don't win the world cup it isn't the end of the world but its a step forward in the right direction. You are sub17, sub20 and toulouse champions so you are finally doing the right things and i really like Soughtgate, he is the right guy to make you grow as a football nation, no more long balls to your centre forward now its more possesion and controlling the game than primitive footy.

Ole seemed to like that 4-4-2 diamond, maybe that's what he is looking at, Fernandes being at the head of the diamond with Martial and Rashford up front, it would also mean Fernandes could move higher and the frontmen could move out wide to morph into a 4-3-3 if required. It could bring about a fluid switch between the two systems.

Chiesa would be ace from what I've seen.

Ed, is that another RB in spite of AWB signing?

LovelyLudwigVan

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Thanks for the insights Ed, any knowledge of who the club may be looking to promote from the U23s?

LovelyLudwigVan

{Ed002's Note - I am not the one to ask. Sorry.}

@shappy I would think Lingard may be more to do with Rashford's attitude, no one seems to mind the fact Lingard launched his own clothes line mid-season. Another aspect may be all the attention Rashford is getting, all those little YouTube interviews and skits he is involved in.

Gomes, Mata and Pogba, nice assist, with all the creativity, Rashford and Greenwood getting on the end of that. Rojo looked worse than Jones. AWB was a brick. McTominay looked calm and secure, better than Matic in that position. And Garner's goal was very well taken. Not a bad start, looking forward to Leeds.

Interesting first half, can't really judge after 45 minutes.

Tuanzebe and Jones didn't have much to do, the two times Perth were on the attack it was because Jones was caught out of position, but he managed to make up for it on both occasions, still a worry.

Dalot got forward a few times and Young was one of the better players, seems more comfortable on the left, but wasn't tested too much defensively and as OotRD pointed out did give the ball away.

Andreas just seemed very rusty, may several interesting runs.

Matic was bad, too slow, gave the ball away easily.

Lingard was more or less invisible bar on one or two occasions where he skipped past a couple of players.

Chong and Martial didn't have much of the ball, and the defence was very tight, but they both looked dangerous when they did get a bit of space.

James was great to watch, high energy, faded a bit towards the end of the half, but that may be because most the play still went down the left side and he switched over to the right.

Think Pogba and Mata if they play in the second half may have enough creativity to break the defence down as it's like a constant 10 man wall.

Tevez was sold at a 27 million profit, before there are players like Kanchelskis, bought cheap, not sold for much but still at a profit.
