SJR: “Amorim needs three years”
The most sensible comment from a United Director since the Glazers took control.
Made my day.
1.) 09 Oct 2025 08:11:58
That's good news that should settle the ship, but also upset a few on here ?.
2.) 09 Oct 2025 09:25:32
It’s only good news if we improve like we all hope. If not it’ll be a long 3 years.
3.) 09 Oct 2025 09:26:19
I think it’s a good statement. But I’ll not bet my house on him being here this time next year.
A few poor results and a potential flirt with relegation will soon turn heads as we all know.
4.) 08 Oct 2025 21:47:08
Do we have a super duper thumbs up option available?
5.) 09 Oct 2025 13:44:49
Oh dear, the dreaded vote of confidence.
Anorim will be gone by the end of next week ?.
6.) 10 Oct 2025 08:49:55
SJR making clear to the players that they can’t force the coach out by underperforming;as with previous managers)
Good. Players have gotten away with inconsistent performances for too long, comfortable with their huge wages, and need to finally start producing the good - or THEY’ll be gone instead.

Seriously hope these rumours about Carrick wanting Rashford back are just that. Rumours.
1.) 02 Feb 2026 08:46:43
Personally do not think he fits into the model that we are moving towards wages/profile wise. I also think the decision has already been made for him to move on, he wants to stay where he is and we have to just make the deal happen without getting bent over by them.
2.) 02 Feb 2026 11:03:27
Wouldn't touch him.
3.) 02 Feb 2026 11:14:07
I love the story just to ensure Barcelona aren't still trying to take him on the cheap which they were angling for. This will shut them up and get them to pay up. I wouldn't let Rashford within 100 miles of our squad.
Once a player proves they're a toxic influence tk suit themselves they already showed they are deeply dangerous to the around. Its a firm Foxtrot Oscar from me.
4.) 02 Feb 2026 15:00:57
I'm not sure Rashford is looking at United and wanting to come back to be honest, the familiar faces he surrounded himself with have gone, he wouldn't be coming in as a starter and would be competing with Sesko, Mbuemo, Cunha, Dorgu and Diallo for 1 of the 3 positions and honestly, I think the majority would agree, at this point his is behind all 5.
Best for all parties that he stays away and shouldn't even be considered. Honestly, I hate Barcelona trying to get a cheap deal but for the sake of moving him on I'd take whatever they offer and just move on.
5.) 02 Feb 2026 17:50:48
No he shouldn’t come back, but to say in football ability he is behind that 5 is laughable…. Just lost his way for whatever reason. who knows.
6.) 02 Feb 2026 18:44:12
So at this point as I said, you’d have him in our team ahead of them?
7.) 02 Feb 2026 21:45:18
I’d have him in the squad 110%. Always maintained he should come back. Forgive and forget and move on. He’d complete our forward line as a right footed option who can play across the front 3 and has a goal in him.
Anyway won’t happen so a pointless debate.
8.) 02 Feb 2026 22:32:26
Forgive and forget what? That he put no effort in for 2 years after getting a huge new contract? I will not be forgiving or forgetting and do not want him back.
{Ed025's Note - i dont blame you GDS..
9.) 02 Feb 2026 23:57:25
Seconded GDS, I certainly won't be forgiving. That said I will wish him well in his next move and will always try to remember the highs more than the lows. He was always inconsistent but certainly produced some magic over the years. Shame since he has all the talent to be world class if he had the drive that others possess.

Hugely impressed by Carrick's tenure so far. Calm. Logical. Pragmatic. Yet hugely positive. His substitutions yesterday were a breath of fresh air.
His team selections are brave and show a team perspective in mind - not how much players cost or individual ability. That's not to be overly critical of Cunha, but his output had been patchy. Now Carrick has a selection dilemma - and that makes a refreshing change.
I'm keen to see the team for Fulham. There's good players not starting at the moment and this will test Carrick's leadership and individual man-management skills.
Despite this last two games, I'm not sure if Carrick is ready for the permanent step up (not that we should be making knee-jerk reactions at all, however the narrative will grow if the results remain). Sadly that's not so much his ability or potential, it's the toxic environment he has to operate in - especially the ex-player brigade (who should be ashamed of themselves) and some of the legacy media who have clear agendas. It's about time the club adopted some of Fergie's tactics and banned them from news conferences.
However, Carrick must remain in the club. Whoever we appoint, Carrick has to remain as Assistant Manager (or coach). Whilst I have no first hand evidence, I suspect Holland has had a major impact on the training ground and should also remain.
Final point. It goes a long way to show the incompetence of the executive leadership that the majority of our best performances post-Fergie have come under interim/caretaker managers.
It seems the more time they have to make big decisions the worse they are.
Anyhow. Enjoy the sunrise everybody - as history tells us the storm clouds are never far away. What's nice is Carrick seems to have brought an umbrella!
1.) 26 Jan 2026 17:43:46
Nicely put BRD.
2.) 26 Jan 2026 18:09:06
Thanks Jimbo. Just enjoying the new found optimism.
3.) 27 Jan 2026 00:53:18
I remain as optimistic as I've always been about the journey.
12 Jan 2026 10:40:16
The club hopes to have a manager in place by Wednesday when the players return to training.
- BBC website
Wednesday! Players return to training Wednesday. WTF did they do to get two days off?
1.) 12 Jan 2026 11:29:23
They are fragile atm BRD.
They need time to rest and recover for all the running and sprints they made during the game against Brighton reserves.
2.) 12 Jan 2026 11:38:37
Think you’ve taken that the wrong way. Final decision by tomorrow so prep can start in weds for the derby.
3.) 12 Jan 2026 11:45:41
Nrd there had been major upheaval for the players. A couple of days off while they sort an appointment is understandable imo.
Its not like they can prep anything for the weekend until the new coach sets them up. So it makes sense to me.
4.) 12 Jan 2026 12:03:24
Remember when Jim preached about having the best in class
Ridiculous decision to sack Amorim when we were still fighting for European spots and the fa cup.
What happened to putting the club first and no your egos.
5.) 12 Jan 2026 12:48:23
Bolger, Amorim got himself sacked. They put them in an untenable position.
6.) 12 Jan 2026 12:56:50
Agree Bolger. Madness.
7.) 12 Jan 2026 13:09:19
Angel
I know your agenda and yes Amorim did push the position but he was put in an untenable position, almost constructive dismissal.
I appreciate you will be cheering yet the bigger picture is that Wilcox has caused an utter shambolic disaster.
8.) 12 Jan 2026 13:41:08
I would assume Amorim wanted January reinforcements and was told to "coach" the players he's given. Wilcox and Barrera leaked this sour interaction to the press, Amorim knew the writing was on the wall so went out swinging.
All this shows is the new board room are willing to make decisions based on emotion and not logic. I wasnt a huge fan of Amorim but 5th/6th in the league with 6 or 7 first team players coming back into the fold, I think we would have had a shot at Champions League qualification.
Sacking him with the back up plan of Ole or Carrick is essentially flushing the season down the toilet. The light is now shining directly on them and with the club having no prospect of a trophy on 10th January is going to be a rough few months if the wheels come off.
Maybe Carrick can turn it around slightly and we can at least enjoy watching the team again.
9.) 12 Jan 2026 13:46:55
Good to see you mumbles.
All we have is hope mumbles.
No reason why6t Carrick can't do as well as amorim and keep us in the euro spots.
10.) 12 Jan 2026 14:10:41
Red man, It's not an agenda, it's literally what happened.
I'm hoping now that the decline can be reversed but the players confidence is on the floor and I'm not sure that it can be reversed quickly. What we will get is a lot of 'i told you sos' in the group because this is going to be a long road to recovery. After a 32% win rate in the league, it's going to take time.
11.) 12 Jan 2026 14:32:34
The decline eth took us into has been reversed angel. He took us into 7th then to 15th and amorim has clawed us out of that hole to joint 5th. I know you have difficulty grasping that. Now all we need is for our interim to maintain that and not let us slump in the league again like we did under eth.
Thankfully amorim arrested the slide after he got to pick the confidence off the floor and put some posting structure in.
It was a far from perfect work inmprogress but giving best results and goal difference for past 3 seasons.
Im backing Carrick to do well and to keep us in the el spots. As you said yourself this squad should be getting 6th place I'm sure they will they are bang on target for it anyhow.
12.) 12 Jan 2026 15:54:17
Confidence is on the floor through the likes of Wilcox sacking the manager because he called them out after they have been leaking snips to the press
Failed promises.
11 Jan 2026 18:51:07
Great to see Amorim was the problem. For a moment I thought we’d got one of the worst Sporting Directors in the country….
1.) 11 Jan 2026 19:01:15
?? yep wilcocks wants it. he's certainly knows what he's doing ??.
2.) 11 Jan 2026 19:16:59
We’ve got 99 problems but Amorim ain’t one.
3.) 11 Jan 2026 19:17:56
We got a back 4
We got Mainoo
We got Lacey
We got a three-man midfield
We got Mainoo and Bruno
So, why is this team still so bad? Failed to beat soon to be relegated Burnley and Brighton B team (at Old Trafford)!
I thought it was Amorim and his 3-4-3?
4.) 12 Jan 2026 03:31:35
Definitely not the players he inherited, definitely not.

10 Jan 2026 07:39:06
{Ed's Note - BRD has posted a new article entitled, Still Reeling From Amorim's Exit at Manchester United
1.) 10 Jan 2026 10:26:39
Agree on pretty much all counts. I'm one of those you call out at the end going to every game. Under Amorim I was enjoying it for the first time in a long time as it felt like watching a long-term journey.
I've totally lost that excitement now and the thought of going to games just doesn't appeal. I'll be there nevertheless but I'm fed up of constantly going back on the merry go round.
2.) 10 Jan 2026 19:01:59
Well said guys. The joy has been removed from it.
I was enthused by Sesko scoring twice though, hopefully he kicks on and becomes great.
26 Dec 2025 19:27:47
SWYS - We are an exciting g club to join. My gut feel is in 18-24 months the United/City picture will be very different….
08 Aug 2025 07:44:59
Some people just such the joy out of football.
07 Aug 2025 20:34:57
Jeez Whiskey Red. What a cynical post. Three superb buys so far and seemingly not over. Nobody can say Amorim isn’t being backed. It’s a long long while since I felt this optimistic at the start of a new season.
21 May 2025 08:14:51
Start Zirkzee. Better option at 90%. Better to start and replace him if necessary rather than come on as a sub and he still does his hamstring.
26 Jan 2026 18:09:06
Thanks Jimbo. Just enjoying the new found optimism.
13 Jan 2026 15:20:20
Surely if it was Southgate even the clowns would have just appointed him now.
. hopefully time to review the market reveals a plethora of managers better equipped than Southgate. Or, failing at Boro (Southgate and Carrick) is the main criteria?
13 Jan 2026 10:49:12
Agreed Red Man. SJR playing Football Manager whilst Wilcox plays FIFA. It's an utter joke.
13 Jan 2026 07:44:15
Here we go again. An ex-United legend with a woeful track record of coaching and management being touted for a job.
When will this fan base ever learn.
12 Jan 2026 10:43:11
To be fair, Vivell seems the one sensible person in the asylum.
