Reports United have made a huge offer to Kim Min Jae. Do you think there's any truth? Seems odd when we still have Maguire and Lindelof as backups.

Chrism894

1.) 13 May 2023 01:41:48
I’d say it makes absolute sense as we have Lindelof and Maguire as back up. Hopefully we won’t have Maguire as back up next season, he should be nowhere near the club.

2.) 13 May 2023 06:12:18
If it is true, it would confirm that Maguire will leave in the summer. Think we would have 4 pretty decent CB options then.

3.) 13 May 2023 10:16:21
Spells the end of Maguire if true. I think ETH sees something in Lindelof if partnered with a commanding dominant CH . plus he doesn't have a lot of other options.

4.) 13 May 2023 13:27:05
Heard £53m for him from my source in Naples.

5.) 13 May 2023 18:48:34
Signing Kim would give us 3 CB's who I'd be happy with starting every week. Add Lindelof as a capable squad player and Shaw being able to play at CB, I'd be very happy with those options for our defence next season.

After today's results I'd be on the phone to Southampton about Kotchap as another CB we could look at.

6.) 13 May 2023 19:07:53
I'm sure it was rangnick who had recommended kotchap before he left?
Id be trying to sign lavia as well.

7.) 13 May 2023 19:58:19
Romeo Lavia would be an excellent understudy for Casemiro.

8.) 14 May 2023 00:24:44
Rather get Alcarez from Southampton. Young striker who has impressed me a lot.

9.) 14 May 2023 09:54:01
Any truth Ed that we’ve bid for Kim?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained that Manchester United are keen on him.}

10.) 14 May 2023 10:43:22
Salford, I'm keen on Alcarez too. Along with Lavia and the forgotten man Livramento Southampton will be lucky to hang onto their better players although Livramento has literally only just returned to training after a lengthy lay-off, so might be best with a season in the Championship. Also Ward-Prowse, as loyal as he's been can probably do a job for someone in the Prem.

11.) 14 May 2023 13:33:56
There will be competition for him but if we get him that gives us a good CB core for next season, allows rotation to rest Varane and future replacement.
Maguire can then be sold for whatever we can get for him £20m. I would happily keep Lindelof but he may then press for a transfer.
As for Lavia, could be a good youngster to bring in and develop for future and resting Casimero.

12.) 16 May 2023 08:53:54
tbh we need a cb as varane is turning into the new phil jones regarding injuries- classy player but made of chocolate tbf.

11 May 2023 13:08:16
First report that sir Jim is preferred bidder has come out.

Chrism894

1.) 11 May 2023 14:55:48
Just read that on Sky Sports.

2.) 11 May 2023 14:58:10
That said the Sky 'report' is quoting The Sun as their source so probably totally unreliable. We shall see what we shall see regardless of press speculation.

3.) 11 May 2023 15:32:20
It just takes one "source" to start the process. Not many outlets have actual journalists doing actual research nowadays. It's the 'Buzzfeed" model in which reporting that someone else has reported something is considered to be news, but is in fact just clickbait.

Of course, we are all desperate to get this sale done and dusted, but truth is we have to wait until there's an actual announcement from the Glazers, the buyers, or at least a credible report from a highly reputable news outlet (not Sky or the Sun) .

Hi Ed, are United still interested in Youri Tielemans?

Chrism894

{Ed002's Note - Youri Tielemans (CM) right now he will not sign a new contract so will be available as a Free Agent in the summer. His agent confirmed that there was interest from Real Madrid who are looking for a Luka Modric replacement, but they have turned their attention elsewhere and may well extend Modric in any case. Interest from Spurs may remain. Arsenal remain keen but are considering others ahead of him and he has been approached by a third party representing Newcastle, who also cannot be discounted. Interest of Manchester United may have gone as they are looking at other midfield options but they will be back if they cannot get their first choice players. I suspect that Arsenal and Newcastle will continue to work on a transfer whilst Leicester continue to try and persuade him to sign a new contract. Wildcard will be Borussia Dortmund dropping interest in others to move for him. He is aware that other clubs, including Liverpool, have scouted the player but not declared an interest.}

1.) 06 Apr 2023 00:11:27
Thanks Ed! Any clue about Macallister as well? An Argentine reporter today said united Liverpool and Arsenal were talking to him.

{Ed002's Note - That would be tapping up without permission.}

2.) 06 Apr 2023 01:51:53
Thanks Ed, I probably said it stupidly. Apparently he said the players father and agent are the ones contacted which I assume is fair. United interested?

{Ed002's Note - There is a lot of interest in Mac Allister - talking to his agent is fine. Start approaching family members to try to influence a sale is not.}

20 Mar 2023 18:37:09
Hi Ed, sorry if this is a random name, but have you heard anything about Chevalier, a young GK in France?

Chrism894

{Ed002's Note - Lucas Chevalier (G) is doing great and I doubt he will be open to leaving Lille after signing a new contract to fend off interest from Lens. Lille are looking to resolve their GK issues but Costil will move on for a youngster and they will settle.}

16 Mar 2023 00:26:59
Hi Ed, Victor Osimhen looks brilliant. Would Napoli still want to be open to selling if they win the league and make it further Champions League?

Chrism894

{Ed002's Note - Victor Osimhen (S) Napoli made it clear to Chelsea who enquired in 2021 that even €100M would not buy the player - but they do maintain an interest and he is has been first choice but that is drifting away in preference for someone else. Manchester United also maintain an interest but he is not be first choice and Napoli are likely to ask €150M as a starting point - and if they don't shift that could remove all English interest. PSG offer an option and that will come to the fore. Real Madrid could look to him as an option to Haaland now that he has opted for Manchester City - but Madrid would want to offer players in exchange. Manchester City interest has gone. Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Spurs have sent scouts. Bayern Munich may well look to a bid. Seen as a possible Harry Kane replacement by Antonio Conte but Conte may soon be gone. Interest of Arsenal has likely gone. Napoli are already saying €150M and again want a sealed bid auction - but potential buyers will not be keen. Newcastle interest will go nowhere. Milan has an interest and an influx of money coming - may prove to be an option. You can likely rule out clubs not in the Champions League which will likely give Chelsea another issue to consider. Napoli may again block any move this summer but already have a replacement in mind.}

1.) 16 Mar 2023 14:21:34
Ed02 - can you share who our first choice is? Sesko or Ramos perhaps?

{Ed002's Note - It has all been covered.}

2.) 16 Mar 2023 14:23:37
Thanks Ed, sounds like it might be very difficult for United. I imagine Ramos is first choice, more likely. If the price is 150 and nobody else bids it (seems like too high for any of the clubs mentioned), do you think they'd just hold on?

{Ed002's Note - Of course.}

3.) 17 Mar 2023 07:18:10
I'd imagine we will struggle to sign any player who has a valuation in excess of 100m regardless of who owns us come the summer due to how we currently sit with FFP.

Whether it's Qatari ownership, Sir Jim, the Glazers or anyone else, they won't be able to spend 200-300m signing several of the world's biggest players.

We need to cut down the wage bill and generate income through sales. Something that we have always struggled with. Which isn't surprising as we tend to only be selling players who aren't or are not longer good enough for the top level. However, those players tend to have wages that are problematic for clubs that next rung down.

There's a few players we might be able to sell and raise something, and offload a few to reduce the wage bill.

However, if we are to bring in 4-6 players then they will need to be reasonably priced or a couple might need to be on free transfers.

4.) 17 Mar 2023 09:23:45
We need a centre forward, a midfielder, another centre back and a right back.
In an ideal world i would settle for Osimhen and Bellingham.

5.) 17 Mar 2023 17:00:54
Sim, those two would cost the best part of 300m we probably can't afford one let alone both of them.

Could Paul Mitchell join United if INEOS take over? Someone is reporting he is joining Chelsea not sure if there’s any truth.

Chrism894

1.) 30 Apr 2023 21:25:44
The dorector of Sport for Ineos is Sir Davif Brailsford (Since Dec 2021) The CEO of Ineos sports is Jean Claude Blanc (since Feb 23), who has previously been Chairman and CEO of Juventus, Deputy managing director of PSG, French Tennis and manahinf directoe of ASO the company behind The Tour de France, Paris Dakar rally and Paris Roubaix classic amongst other events.

His brief specifically includes developing world class facilities for each of the branches under the Ineos Sport umbrella.

Thats the team behind Ineos Sport in terms of the sporting and administrative side if tge operation. I can't answer your question and am not sure anyone can but we can learn something from other projects.

Certainly Mitchell was previously heavily linked with the Ineos Utd bid. I imagine these 2 will be heavily involved in picking people for the top spots should Ineos win out.

22 Apr 2023 07:31:27
Have you heard anything about young keeper Verbruggen? Some articles linking him to United (and others) today.

Chrism894

1.) 22 Apr 2023 10:08:57
He's Dutch so it must be true ?‍♂️?.

20 Jun 2022 19:21:54
Interesting to hear Spurs backing out for Eriksen according to their reporters. Its a few years past but Eriksen to United would still be lovely.

Chrism894

1.) 20 Jun 2022 21:54:05
Is it true that he trained with ajax under eth for 8 weeks prior to his move to Brentford?
I've read it a couple of times but don't know if it's true.
I think with mata and matic leaving having a snr pro around is a good thing and he still has plenty to offer.
Inspirational figure too for everybody to look up to.
I think he would be a great addition to the team and hopefully a sign of things to come in terms of technical and intelligent player eth likes to work with and develop.
I'd be far more concerned if we were linked with Sean longstaff again.

2.) 20 Jun 2022 22:27:02
I had read this too Ken. Not the first time United have been linked with him, even going back to his playing days at Ajax. Be great to have a consistent decent free kick taker too.

3.) 20 Jun 2022 22:27:23
Eriksen will be excellent. We also need Frenkie, Antony, Torres and another defender if we get all of these I think we wouldve had a good summer. I would want a striker but now Nunez and Haaland is gone there aren't that many good strikers available.

4.) 21 Jun 2022 01:10:11
He did train with Ajax for a period of time. They as a club are very welcoming for ex players and have had Schone training with them recently when he was without a club.

04 Apr 2022 23:27:23
Lot of rumors of the dressing room being unhappy with Ralf. With a split over managerial appointments. Obviously tabloid talk but at the same time surely the instability has an affect on players? Even some said so directly in interviews. Club need the future at least resolved for the players within a couple weeks.

Chrism894

1.) 05 Apr 2022 02:58:20
I would suggest those players who are unhappy then need to leave in the summer, I would be more than happy if 8-9 of that first 11 found pastures new. What happens if they don't like the manager next year, will they spend another season sulking and trundling around the pitch.

Regardless of who is the manager the players need to give 100% each game and we have seen precious little of that this season, that is why my preference is for EtH rather than Poch.

Poch I suspect would keep most of the squad and we would continue to drift, whereas EtH I get the feeling would speak to RR (who knows exactly who to get rid of) he would ditch the shirkers and bring in players who are willing to run into the ground for the club.

The question for me is which way do the board want to go, I reckon they will go with the evolution approach of Poch, rather than the revolution approach of EtH.

2.) 05 Apr 2022 08:56:26
We're sympathetic towards him because he has only had half a season at the club. He inherited an Ole squad, which was ridiculously unbalanced and is lacking in key areas.

Most of us wrote the season off once it started.

3.) 05 Apr 2022 06:30:32
I literally despise this squad at moment, constant leaks, I’ve never known a group of players with such a high opinion of themselves when in reality their arguably producing some of the worst performances from a United side in 20 years!
Id sell ddg, Dalot awb Shaw telles Jones Bailey Maguire pogba Donny Lingard Cavani Ronaldo rashford matic mata martial …

If I’ve forget anyone I’m sorry!
I’ll give varane and sancho the benefit of the doubt for now but I must admit I watch sancho and think did we really spend nearly 80 million on him! Physically pathetic, scared to beat a man, has adopted the United way of passing backwards all the time and my biggest annoyance with him he seems to of adopted the same swagger rashford has where he thinks he’s a lot better than he is when in reality as Gareth Southgate has shown he is in danger of becoming a nobody!

4.) 05 Apr 2022 07:17:30
You lot on here are…..deleted drivel

{Ed014's Note - so nice to see you back again! ?‍♂️

5.) 05 Apr 2022 09:11:05
We had an interim in place in Carrick who couldn’t have had us playing worse than Rangnick. We didn’t really need a supposed tactical genius to work out who to keep and who to sell. They all need replacing.

6.) 05 Apr 2022 10:19:53
So many issues causing current decline, such as:

Unbalanced squad result of no long term planning, commercial names over footballing choices and reacting to each managers style of play - whereas should have pverall style which should t change with a new manager.

Perceived lack of coaching under Ole deteriorated even more when They left and replaced by RR and his coach, who the players don’t rate and want more input and instruction. Players naturally want a clear instruction, so that confusion appearing in the pitch

Players unhappy about not being picked or running down cobtracts

Lack of striking options

Lack of confidence

Plus more…

Just want season to end now, get manager in with some young motivated players and start the long rebuilding process.

7.) 05 Apr 2022 11:49:43
Hopefully those players who are ‘underwhelmed’ by the prospect of ETH taking over will be on their way soon. The arrogance of some of our players is breathtaking, as if they deserve to have a say on who should be our next manager. Their attitude is appalling and the ability and character of many players belongs somewhere else.

8.) 05 Apr 2022 18:34:00
Hague another maze reincarnation?

{Ed014's Note - not sure who keeps reincarnating them but he’s persistent! ?‍♂️?

10 Mar 2022 00:17:13
So ten Hag to get the job then?

Chrism894

1.) 10 Mar 2022 01:25:54
Honestly don't know if Ten Haag is up to the job. All I can judge him on is the way his teams play and to my mind its the true Utd way in that they try to play fast attractive football. He also gives youth a chance and doesn't rely on a big budget.

That said managing Utd is a really different beast to managing all but a very very few elite teams.

2.) 10 Mar 2022 02:57:22
What’s amusing to me is both Poch and Ten Hag are in some ways unproven. Poch can handle a job this size. Given time and actually some decision making he’d probably get PSG winning CL, but is CL really the marker of success? Pep hasn’t won’t CL at city.

For his time at Spurs Poch was great in my opinion.

{Ed014's Note - what’s amusing me is that you say Poch can handle a job this size when you have no idea if he could.

The pressure on each new manager that walks through the door increases 10 fold because you’ve been so abject.

Managing PSG is a nothing job in a one team league with money to burn and he’s instilled nothing in that side, literally nothing.

And is the champions league a marker, are you trying to kid me or yourself.

Your post smacks of how the mighty have fallen, yeah 4th place is ok, yeah we don’t need to win the UCL and yeah let’s get a manager whose a serial loser when it matters most!?‍♂️

3.) 10 Mar 2022 07:42:56
Are you sure he’s not a gooner Ed014.

{Ed014's Note - who knows but you have taken over that mantra from us ?‍♂️

You know the we need 4th to attract players, we’re only 2 players away from challenging, if only we hadn’t dropped points against so and so, we can really see a style developing, who needs Europe anyway, you know, all those things you do now! ?

4.) 10 Mar 2022 13:56:55
Seems weird to call him a serial loser. PSG means nothing to me. Emery failed. Tuchel failed. Poch failed.

Tuchel had a performance much like last nights against us with Ole and some 16 year olds.

People have been asking for Potter it’s not like he’s won trophies. If you ask Spurs fans they’d consider Poch a success I think. It’s Spurs, he got them winning more than anyone else. And by handling a big job I’d just mean can face the media, deal with the structure etc.

5.) 10 Mar 2022 16:41:54
I think any team can win a final on the day. of course Poch was blitzed off the park and arguably Ole failed to adapt to a few changes in extra time when the opposition mixed it up. But for me it's much more about what is going on in the background, the signings the manager sanctions and how the squad gels, that is a mark of the manager early on.
Of course, he needs to win something before long, but my point is (particularly at Utd) there is so much to do and improve before that comes.

Contact inside old trafford ? what’re they doing there mate it’s been empty for near a month now. Have they got food or water? Nobody working at United below Arnold knows a thing, and Garnacho is a professional young kid.

This is a great explanation and clears up so much for us. Better than I’ve seen anywhere else. If Raine have recommended Sir Jim’s offer, but Qatar is acceptable too. Are there ongoing discussions over the share conversion issue to see if it can be resolved? Or is it just all final from each party and now up to the glazers based on the info from Raine?

Funny definition of excellent. Outside of the goal he was very mediocre again, but when he does it he’s “excellent”, despite constantly having less involvement and poorer contributions than nearly any of our other options.

Very true. Really tricky situation. It’s hard to understand how a partial sale solves the problem, unless with Elliott it includes repackaging debt at a longer term and doing a cheaper refurbishment than rebuild on stadium. And I don’t see how Elliott opens doors for revenue. Really hope Sir Jim ends up with it as I can see how he could resolve these issues.

Chrism894

{Ed002's Note - Elliott are Vulture Capitalists and would look to boost the bids of other bidders. They cannot bid on their own.}

Cheers for the great info Ed. When you say buyer found, still potential for another besides main 2 of Jassim and Sir Jim (and the odd finnish fella) to crop up?

Chrism894

{Ed002's Note - It could be one of them but no doubt they would listen to a different bidder as well. There are also bigger calculations Chris which need to be understood. What happens to the existing debt? What is the cost of upgrading the stadium and facilities at the training facility? What are the exploitation opportunities to increase revenue? very difficult.}

Wild that y’all are getting so sucked into the bluster and PR of the Qataris that Sir Jim as a successful billionaire not jumping on a couch and screaming platitudes and pumping out PR to every rag is viewed as “not caring”.

He’s an old British guy who is calculating, smart, and not some goon. Not sure what people want from him. You want a calm person running the club.

Chrism894

{Ed014's Note - he doesn’t have as much money though ?‍♂️
