I know the topic of Mason Greenwood sets a lot of people off, and I get why. The off-field situation was serious and it changed everything. This isn’t a post defending that. But purely from a footballing perspective, it’s impossible to ignore what the lad is doing over in France.
I was chatting with a lifelong Marseille fan recently, and honestly, they talk about Greenwood like he’s their superstar. And when you look at the numbers, it’s hard to argue with them.
Since joining Marseille:
• 45 games • 29 goals • 8 assists — that’s 0.64 goal contributions per game
• 2024/25 Ligue 1: 21 goals, 5 assists
• 2025/26 so far: 8 goals, 3 assists in 11 games
• Regularly posting 7+ match ratings and even bagged four goals in a single Ligue 1 match this season
• Marseille fans absolutely adore him — they see him as the face of their attack
Meanwhile, we’ve spent £200m+ trying to fix our forward line, and half of those signings haven’t come close to delivering numbers like that.
Again — I’m not saying United should have kept him, I’m not dismissing what happened, and I’m not asking anyone to change how they feel about him. But it’s also fair to admit the football reality:
If things had turned out differently, Greenwood would be absolutely untouchable at Manchester United right now.
He had the talent, the finishing ability, the two-footed threat, the academy pathway — everything. And seeing him hitting these levels in France, while our attack still struggles for consistency, is a hard pill to swallow.
This isn’t meant to glorify him or start an argument — it’s just acknowledging a “what if” that a lot of us secretly feel:
We lost a player who had the potential to be one of the best forwards in Europe.

Dalots defensive ability being thoroughly exposed by Ireland here, long balls being pinged into the right every chance they can get. COYBIG!
14 Nov 2025 10:50:03
Utd really do need to upgrade Dalot. Selling g him woukd be pure profit aswell.
14 Nov 2025 11:29:52
Ireland played the ball every chance they got and more often than not he was ball watching like he does every week for us great for me as an Ireland fan but as a united one he was appalling.
01 Nov 2025 18:19:19
4 games unbeaten and other than 5 minutes of madness we would have won. I think we will see lots of ups and downs through the season, but other teams are also inconsistent so we have a chance to move much higher up then table, even top 5 feels achievable based on the last month.
I'm still not 100% convinced about RA, but the last moth has been excellent, not least the character we have shown today, and against Liverpool and Brighton.
I like him as a bloke, I like his demeanour, and he has flexed his approach in recent weeks so it may be he is also adapting to what is a very tough league.
10 points from 12 is a great return, we have many players stepping up and showing their class. My one observation would be Sesko has still not fully settled, it feels like he needs a a couple of goals, or a screamer to settle him down.
Wilcox is talking about strengthening in January. Looking at today's game, imagine Anderson in our midfield, the boy is special, and whilst Cas is playing well, he will remain limited around pace and stamina.
The whole feel has shifted, if this continues. I will be delighted to eat humble pie, I really hope I have to.
01 Nov 2025 18:51:30
I thought Anderson was excellent today. Much more impressive than Baleba last week who we have been strongly liked with. Them 2 with Wharton and Mainoo (I really don't know what the plan is with him at the moment), would give us decent long term flexible midfield combination options.
02 Nov 2025 09:12:03
I'm sure it was Ed001 who commented on how good Anderson was a couple of seasons ago, I couldn't see it at the time but that's why I always trust his judgement on players, Anderson would be perfect for us.
{Ed001's Note - Newcastle had their pants pulled down on him, due to being in serious FFP difficulties. Marinakis didn't even use lube, he just made them buy a goalkeeper neither side wanted from him for an exorbitant fee on top! Unreal deal that is between the two sides. Bad enough losing your best young talent for less than you valued him, but then having to give them the money back for a terrible keeper you didn't want or need, ouch! I bet that one still hurts. Anderson is a fantastic player, I would love him at Liverpool and he would be great for United too.
And thank you for the compliment, I did big him up even before Forest signed him and kept telling them on their site he was their best player when they did. I think they would agree now and are starting to worry about the bids coming in for him. You can't always get it right on players, so when you do it is nice to see it - except in Cunha's case. I didn't enjoy seeing him prove me right last week!}
02 Nov 2025 12:16:52
Question Ed, Wharton or Anderson, I'm no expert but they look similar types of player or do you think they could play together?
{Ed001's Note - very different. Wharton is a playmaker mainly, he can get about the pitch, but his main strength is getting on the ball and making passes. Anderson can do that too, but his main strength is as a box to box midfielder, breaking up play and picking a pass. He really needs to work on his shooting though! They look like an ideal combination on paper. Both are verging on complete midfielders but are both let down by a lack of goals.}
02 Nov 2025 19:31:05
What’s your take on Kobbie Mainoo Ed1? And where can he fit into this Utd team?
{Ed001's Note - if he works on his athleticism and desire, he should be the long term replacement for Bruno. He does play the creator very differently, with more running with the ball, but he should be a better fit, rather than just an outstanding player shoehorned in to get him in the team. He is such a good technical player, but he lacks the physicality to really work well in a 2 man midfield. That is something he can develop though, he just needs to want it enough.}
03 Nov 2025 20:21:47
I think that’s a very fair assessment.
14 Nov 2025 10:05:21
Mainoo was overplayed by EtH and it showed when he had injuries last year. A year of less football will do him good in the long term, although you can understand his frustration not getting my playing time.

2 more games before the intl break.
Tough away fixtures.
Forest are badly in need of a result and I eclectic them to be much tougher under dyche.
Last week the got beaten by Bournemouth after a great midweek performance v Porto. They had no midweek game this week and I expect them to be very aggressive and hard running. Should be a good contest. Exactly the type of team we have struggled against recently.
Spurs away then the following week.
Personally i'd be delighted with 4 points from these 2 games.
Obviously a win and loss would be better than 2 draws.
2 wind would mean a lot to that poor sod who is waiting on us winning 5 in a row to get a haircut.
i'm not sure if anybody has seen this chap but i'm guessing he wished he'd never opened his mouth🤣 he looks like Leo Sayer on steroids 🫨 (there is a name for posters of a certain vintage)
Getting good points on the board in our next 6 or 8 games is vital before the afcon players depart. Our whole right side will be decimated. Mount is the likely replacement for mbeumo which if he stays fit is not the worst cover. Bruno can also mive up allowing mainoo to stake a claim. So not bad cover at all for mbeumo. Dalot likely to switch over to his stronger side is a big downgrade on amad.
Could be very light on numbers over the period they are away. All hands to the pump.
31 Oct 2025 18:30:47
I hope we just set out like the Brighton game we were hungrier from the start and that's a bonus in any match.
I really hope we beat forest and spurs it's a a tall order but ra would be going in to an international break with most of thee press noise about hee won five in a row and 6 out of 7.
Hopefully we can stay consistent there as top 4 there for the taking for anyone who can and dare I say it the league but let's not mention that.

You have a lot of time it seems.
30 Oct 2025 17:43:16
Indeed.
01 Nov 2025 13:08:34
Fair play, mate. Love your enthusiasm. Sometimes as we (me) get older, we get a lot more cynical and grumpy. Posts like this remind me there's still a lot of enjoyment in supporting this club.
Oh, and you have too much time on your hands 😁.

One of our Academy defenders, Rhys Bennett has been granted compassionate leave along with full pastoral by the club following his announcement that his father had taken his own life.
A very, very sad occurrence for him and his family, you just wonder how dark the place his father was in, to not only contemplate, but carry out such an action.
Deepest condolences to the family at such an appallingly sorrowful time.
28 Oct 2025 08:25:39
And very often it’s those with lots to live for that carry out the action. So many famous people at their peak have been lost far too soon, and of course those at the other end of the spectrum who are driven by total despair.
It is so sad and as you say what must be going through their minds to be driven to it.
I could never suppose to understand. It is far beyond my intellect.
I spent a good amount of time during COVID ( a hard enough time! ) in a bubble providing company for a suicidal friend. It is draining trying to say the right things and provide the necessary support with little or no relevant training. But the medical structure was broken at the time to provide professional help.
Thoughts are with Rhys. The sooner he can get back amongst his support group (the lads) the better!

Id like to report from behind enemy lines. There's a lot of dogs yelping!
19 Oct 2025 20:35:50
Hi Ken, you seemed to get upset and offended when I said that Van Dijk is an issue at the moment for Liverpool and we can exploit him. Look forward to your defence of him after today 😂.
20 Oct 2025 10:14:04
Ports i don't get offended or upset by posts on this site.
I think he made a mistake in the 2st min and was quite good after that.
Full back on his side had a mare as predicted.
Our options on vvd at this stage of his career don't differ. You said he had 2 good seasons i don't agree.
I feel he would walk into 17 or 18 teams in the league even still including ours but you don't agree.
You thought colleyer and some other chap would make big impacts last season I doubted they would play 90 mins all season once collyer did play over 90 min you were jumping up and down like a 10yo child like you are today but he hardly played again the other chap never did and now neither are at the club. 🤣🤣🤣 Keep it up ports doing a great job on keeping an eye on things.
20 Oct 2025 11:49:40
Interesting reading the deligt interview. He said that last week in training they worked on exploiting Liverpool biggest weakness defensively and that was both full back areas.
Well spotted and identified by our coaches and with both assists coming from the full back areas (2 good passes) any cool could see that's the weak areas in the Liverpool team this season.
Good tactics well thought out and well executed. Described well by a professional player who knows what he is taking about having been part of the plan.
Exploit the weakest full back areas. Good idea.
20 Oct 2025 15:31:40
😂 so to confirm, you are blaming Kerkez for the 1st goal and the full back for Maguire’s winner 😂 fair enough Ken.
20 Oct 2025 16:51:00
Are you blaming vvd for our winner ports? His position for the corner is front post six yard line. Brunos cross was well over that zone when it came back to him and evaded konte who was in that zone.
Did I not say vvd made a mistake in 1st min? for jumping over mcallister when he should have stood off.
Your just being silly but its a common trait for you.
20 Oct 2025 16:57:12
Both assists came from the full back areas I wouldn't necessarily blame the full backs. But you are a person always looking for blame i'd say we great passes and finishes.
Watching too much tv so all you look for is scapegoats when it was good play on our part.
As I said our opinions on vvd don't differ that greatly other than you think he has never been that good. I beg to differ.
Our coaching staff highlighted the weaknesses to exploit and that was the full back areas.
Vvd didn't do much wrong after the 1st goal imo. Neither konate kherkez covered his mistake close to the centre circle and he didn't get back quick enough to cover his own error.
On every player rating I read vvd outscored both full backs but scored less than konate for the 1st time this season.
20 Oct 2025 17:02:22
“Well spotted and identified by our coaches and with both assists coming from the full back areas (2 good passes) any cool could see that's the weak areas in the Liverpool team this season. ”
Not you blaming the full backs then?
20 Oct 2025 17:33:03
No ports its not. The coaches saw that as an area to exploit and we did. Both goals came from full back areas but it was good play by bruno and amad not necessarily bad play from their full backs.
Keep digging its making you look a bit silly. Vvd made a mistake in 1st min after that had a decent game.
He made less mistakes than Shaw for example who I thought had a good game but the post and lammens dug him out so his mistakes didn't cost us.
Their full backs have been a big issue for them this season. You see it differently to most people and that's OK.
Our coaching staff as confirmed by deligt felt that's where we could get most hot low and behold they were right. Good play in those areas will help as its a Liverpool weakness at the moment.
20 Oct 2025 19:03:22
Ken, I appreciate you try to give yourself some additional credit and add some worth to your points in conversations by using patronising statements like “your making yourself look silly” and that’s fine but you never actually add any substance to your points.
You say things categorically but don’t like being challenged or it being highlighted when things don’t work out how you expected. You categorically said ETH was out, he wasn’t. You categorically said Collyer and any youth player combined would not get 90 minutes total, I disagreed and as it was, they did so you change the narrative to suggest I said they’d make a big impact, I didn’t say that.
Now let’s review this Van Dijk discussion. A Liverpool fan posted about their problems and I said I think, which won’t be popular that Van Dijk is a problem for them and that upset you. I gave reasons but you were still offended by them but couldn’t actually articulate any debate other than he’s a been a good premier league CB therefore it is unthinkable he could now be a problem.
So let’s look at the game. De Ligt said the full backs are a problem. But what’s the problem with them? IMO they are very aggressive getting forward WHICH results in Van Dijk being exposed. How? Mbuemo came inside for every long ball engaging VVD and bringing him out the back line. The majority of long balls in the first half went down VVD direction and not Konate’s. Mbuemo was not expected to win the ball, Amorim would have started Sesko surely if he wanted that outcome but United set up to win the second ball which would mean space in behind and VVD recovery runs are not what they were anymore, age, injury big factors, first goal a prime example. This was also a good tactic because Kerkez pushes forward so high.
Most of United’s success came down the right side in the first half. Not solely down to Kerkez but because VVD has problems now and Amorim exposed both these players weaknesses. Just try watching the game of football Ken rather than getting caught up with twitter opinions or YouTube fan pages. And don’t get upset when you get called out for statements you make that don’t necessarily turn out how you said they would, it’s a football fan page for opinions and banter. Makes you look a bit silly 😉.
20 Oct 2025 19:57:38
Ports i have no issue being challenged i welcome it. You're very touchy at times
Ive made thousands of incorrect predictions on football. I'll continue to do so
I can't categorically state anything that I don't know for sure. As i'm sure you know the written word has no tone so it looks like a categorical statement at times rather than an opinion i'm saying. i'm more than happy to defend any opinion i have and more than happy to concede when I'm wrong in hindsight i.e after the event. I've been wrong a lot as i predict a united win before every game we've ever played.
Your argument is silly imo. You can be offended or feel patronised by my opinion of your argument if you choose to be.
Vvd imo has been a far better player over his career than in yours. A very high end cb and well thought of by most people who you would expect to know.
The team plan which we wouldn't normally be privy to (but for the deligt interview) was to try and get at both full backs. So I don't understand your opening post. Diallo and mbeumo had kherkez all over the place. It was good stuff to watch but amad getting an early yellow in 2nd half put paid to that and we didn't attack as well at all on that side with dalot there but got more joy through cunha and dorgu in 2nd half. But they dominated possession in 2nd half.
On eth sjr has admitted the mistake of his u turn and change of heart. I really didn't think he'd buckle. Costly mistake i didn't think he would make but like all mistakes he felt it was the right thing to do at the time. Its the one wrong i was most annoyed about as it was a real sign of weakness by the new management. They had decided and u turned sjr has said as much. Hopefully they stick to their plans better going forward. To be fair it was really early days for the new management so I forgive them🤣.
21 Oct 2025 08:47:27
You two need to get a room. 🤣.
21 Oct 2025 16:47:56
I've the popcorn out here. Great posts.
23 Oct 2025 15:50:52
But Ken you do like to say every one is a fool, when they have differing opinions from yours and get personal too when it suits you then always say post on here don’t offend you…lol plus you say everyone entitled to opinion but you mean if it aligns with yours they are…… very strange
VVD was one of the best CBs but Father Time appears to be catching up with him fast, plus the 2 full backs are just not good enough (same as ours) so making VVD look even worse
You seem to have now jumped on the Europe band wagon or top 4 after beating scousers too which in itself is amusing.
24 Oct 2025 00:26:59
Every team pretty much nowadays can be attacked at Fullback, and we have seen this season throughout the Premier League teams exploitong and attacking this.
29 Oct 2025 22:31:06
In fairness to Ken on that thread I weighed in too. VVD is still a really good player and the gaps are more down to the gaps left behind the fullbacks. Part of that is because on both sides Liverpool get no defensive assistance from their wingers. Last year Luis Diaz did help out. It's no inconsistent to say that VVD is still a really good player but that Liverpool's back line can be targeted. Ports is identifying VVD as the problem and it's just not clear why you're so adamant about it.
30 Oct 2025 09:51:21
Donred.
I agree with ports that vvd is in decline it happens when players get older.
Where i differ from ports in opinion is that he said vvd has not been a great cb and only had 2 good seasons.
I think that's rubbish and absolute nonsense.
I don't know anybody that doesn't think vvd has been an outstanding player for years both in England and Scotland.
30 Oct 2025 13:08:28
VVD struggled the year after his injury but has been brilliant for Liverpool. It's sort of useless to talk about him being in decline. That's a given based on age profile. But his play certainly hasn't fallen off a cliff. The dominant reason Liverpool's back line is getting targeted is that their high press has dropped off significantly and the two new full backs aren't as good (at the moment - they may adapt) as the ones they're replacing.
Anyway you and I agree on this. Ports sort of agrees but wants to layer onto it a highly subjective take.
30 Oct 2025 15:27:06
Its his opinion Don i just don't agree. Nothing wrong with that. He is a good poster I'm don't agree with him sometimes but that's OK.
I think they will adapt. I'm not a big fan of Dutch managers. They tend to fall out with players sooner rather than later.
I know they won it at a Canterbury lady season but massively over achieved imo.
I said before a ball was kicked they would win nothing this season despite their 500m spend. you could see it a mile off imo.

Opinions on SJR intervoew in the Times dismissing the hyperbole around Amorim and making clear he needs 3 years to get the team at a club like United in the right shape and squad and play?
I think the content was great but he could have gone further stating that every great Man Utd manager was someone the club had faith and backing of long term belief of the leadership.
I was pleased to see he mocked the press for their knee jerk expectations and that it showed a lack of understanding of the size of the task.
This for me was important that the players will hear that loud and clear. Its the manager and his plan we believe in, get with the plan or get your coat. Its you that needs to perform for the manager or we replace you and not him.
Timing wise it is also clever, internation break so light on sports news so it gets maximum airtime and coverage to set our stall out well and truly.
Shows those inside the club in the eight positions are all aligned amd on the same page, a club united in its name and also its belief in the project. No matter waht others think.
Thoughts?
09 Oct 2025 08:19:26
Personally, I think it's excellent news, but it will bring the angst and pain to others here who constantly preach for his instant removal. To the naysayers, I suggest you suck it up and support the club, manager and players. GGMU.
09 Oct 2025 10:18:02
As obvious as it sounds as long as he wins he will get the time. If it carries on this way there is no amount of backing from Ratcliffe that will stop the pressure to sack.
Also he is just trying to shut people up. He knows Amorim won’t be here in 3 months never mind 3 years if it doesn’t improve.
09 Oct 2025 13:00:49
It doesn't bring me any angst Fizz, but 1 solid win does not change my mind. I'm happy to be proved wrong, and it sounds like RA will get the time to do that, but I've seen nothing yet to convince me this will end well.
