Ed002 there's a lot of talk on here about ole in and ole out. Could you tell us the position of the club on ole? Is his job safe or is it crunch time in terms of they are monitoring the situation and possibly looking for another manager? Appreciate all you do for us.

BigRed87

{Ed002's Note - I suspect that there will be no decision until the summer.}

1.) 06 Oct 2021 00:54:45
Thanks for the reply Ed002.

2.) 06 Oct 2021 09:25:51
So it looks like unless something drastic happens we will have Ole until the summer.

{Ed077's Note - things can always change; for better or worse}

3.) 06 Oct 2021 12:58:51
Ed077, change is the only constant in life. So obviously things will change at some point. Maybe they'll get better, maybe they'll get worse.

Yet by the sounds of it the higher ups at United will attempt to get to the end of the season if possible before making a decision.

{Ed077's Note - no team goes into to a season with a view to make drastic changes midway through. But, Situations can dictate that plans can change.

4.) 06 Oct 2021 17:02:27
If Utd have a poor O other and November then there will be pressure to sack OGS. Ultimately results costs a manager has job.

Then there are the players, whom can also stop playing for the manager aswell. If he loses the dressing room he will be a goner.

5.) 06 Oct 2021 21:34:44
Ed002 could you please explain why Manchester United would hand Mike phelan a 4 year contract extension?
If Ole was released from his role as manager would that mean phelan Carrick and mcenna would also be revealed of their roles or would other roles be offered within the club structure for them?

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated to whatever happens with OGS. Phalanx has an extensive history of coaching at all levels within the club.}

6.) 07 Oct 2021 22:22:20
Thanks for the reply ed002.

7.) 10 Oct 2021 08:52:32
Steve Bruce will be looking for a new job soon and we all know he’s gets the Utd DNA.

07 May 2018 17:26:50
As a treat Ed002 could you tell us if the rumours that we have agreed a deal for Sergej Milinkovic Savic are true or not or that we are close ie. in talks? Much appreciated!

BigRed87

{Ed001's Note - no need to bother him, it is not true. Interest is there but no deal as of yet.}

1.) 07 May 2018 17:53:11
Ok cheers Ed 👍.

2.) 08 May 2018 03:12:41
Ufff hope Milinkovic-Savic sign for us not for them!

23 Apr 2018 19:43:35
Would anyone be happy taking a punt on Seamus Coleman? I think he would be great down the right side. Do the Eds know if they’re is any interest? I know he wasn’t mentioned but I think there was interest before. Not sure if it’s still there?

BigRed87

{Ed004's Note - Haven't heard of any interest in him and I think it's a couple of seasons too late to be going after him}

1.) 24 Apr 2018 07:58:12
Yeah I think that ship has sailed.

2.) 24 Apr 2018 19:20:45
Sailed and sunk hopefully.

22 May 2017 21:22:31
So Griezman says he is a 6/ 10 about joining us! And we'll know about his future in the next two weeks! Really really hope he joins us!

BigRed87

1.) 22 May 2017 21:25:30
Probably waiting to see if we have champions league to offer.

2.) 22 May 2017 21:41:07
Let's hope we can get the job done on Wednesday night then!

3.) 22 May 2017 21:42:34
Also said it's 7/ 10 chance he stays. So 13/ 10 chances he either stays or goes. Not too bright apparently that guy :-P.

4.) 22 May 2017 21:42:46
I personally think he's mocking us for finishing 6th 😀.

5.) 22 May 2017 22:01:58
He talking too much again, he may end up talking out of a move, a lot of clubs won't bother, could become a headache more than anything.

6.) 22 May 2017 22:27:30
But would it be a headache if he was banging them in and working his magic? I for one would let him talk away as long as he was 😁.

7.) 23 May 2017 05:49:53
I think he has just told utd win on Wednesday and i am yours, also very interesting news is silva being courted with canal+ who are considered very reliable reporting too good to refuse offer made, imagine silva and greizmann. My inner muppet will die of a heart attack if we sign both.

8.) 23 May 2017 08:02:24
Griezmann is probably my favourite non United players at the moment

He just needs to tone down the social stuff, he might get away with this at Atletico but United he won't, haven't they pulled Pogba for the exact same thing.

9.) 23 May 2017 08:11:15
We need a finisher, belotti would fit the bill.

10.) 23 May 2017 09:23:58
Best part about his statement is the next 2 weeks element. At least it won't be dragged out all summer.
I would love him but think a Drogba type number 9 more important.

11.) 23 May 2017 10:04:55
This sort of comment is prob what will put Jose off.

12.) 23 May 2017 13:22:20
Agree. we have a number of players who can play the no 10 role as it is now called. We need a prolific striker who can feed of Rashford. and visa versa. winger and some decent defenders is what we need. love greizman to sign . But we can't wait for ever for him to make up his mind. we need all new signings to be at the club sharpish. just pray we are not looking for a new keeper also.

{Ed007's Note - The window doesn't open until 1st of July so sharpish isn't going to happen.}

13.) 23 May 2017 10:33:17
I'm just curious, why is it that if a person likes to talk to the media or is active on social media, prove to be a problem? Pogba is always dabbing, dancing or doing whatever he likes on SM and even Adidas makes videos about him. Same with Mata, he writes a blog after every match!

Why is this a problem for Mr. Mourinho?

14.) 23 May 2017 14:52:06
You know what I mean Ed. cheeky chuff.

{Ed007's Note - You said you can't wait for Griezmann to make up his mind, why not when the window doesn't open for another 5 1/2 weeks?}

15.) 23 May 2017 16:20:57
Raghav pogba kept his mouth shut for most part of the pogba to utd saga, being respectful to both utd and juventus, mata writing those blogs are mostly his version of post match reports and fan appreciation, with griezmann he has already talked about moving to utd, had no problems saying real madrid would be an option, and just a while back trying to correct his 6/ 10 remark he all but put himself up for sale by saying he wants to win trophies and will go to england, germany, china or usa if he has to, that is disrespectful to athletico. Imagine him saying all this with utd, how would you feel?

16.) 23 May 2017 17:39:26
Csm, Athletico will already be fully aware he is leaving this summer. He's even said United are willing to pay his buy out clause. They would've been negotiating for weeks/ months for him to come out publicly like this. As previous posters have said, come Thursday morning when we're either in or out CL, the deal will be rubber stamped and Athleti will be making a tidy £50-60 million profit. They will not care about some French talk show.

17.) 23 May 2017 19:07:23
2toms surely juventus would have been aware too, it is not about negotiation etc, it is about common sense, he comes out looking like a money chasing mercenary with the england, china, usa comment, he acts like a little attention whore every time he speaks to the media, he needs to get himself a good pr team and keep his trap shut unless they tell him to open it.

18.) 24 May 2017 23:10:32
Maybe 9/ 10 now!

19.) 25 May 2017 10:54:03
Cmon woody get this done now.

20.) 25 May 2017 19:47:33
and yet tonight he is saying he is going on holiday and looking forward to winning trophies with athletico in the new stadium. who knows, but he is never out the papers whether that's him or his people or made up nonsense.

10 Dec 2016 22:02:23
Has Stephan de vjri (mind the spelling) been considered by united?

BigRed87

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

1.) 11 Dec 2016 11:11:25
He looks Dutch Version of Jonny Evans to me. No thanks.

2.) 11 Dec 2016 17:04:18
What's wrong with Jonny Evans? Wish he was still at the club and not hounded out by fickle fans.

3.) 11 Dec 2016 19:33:50
What is your take on him ED?

{Ed002's Note - He is very well thought of.}

There's an amazing piece on Cantona on sly sports. Great read. He was the reason I started supporting United and he's still my favourite player ever!

BigRed87

1.) 04 Aug 2021 20:52:08
Ditto BigRed. Favourite player of my generationn (ok, we're in another one now) . Probably not a role model in a few ways but a great character. I remember a season where Utd scraped to the title through a succession of 1-0s with him pretty much winning us all of them.
Favourite player of 'this' generation? It would probably be de Bruyn. There's no-one else like him.

2.) 04 Aug 2021 22:12:52
Cantona was more than a top class footballer he was personality, a character, a force of nature and he was the inspiration and drive on the pitch that kick started all of our success under Sir Alex.

That is why he is the king.

3.) 05 Aug 2021 13:23:25
Spenno, I think that was the season we pipped Newcastle with all the 1-0's. What a man he was though. Idol.

10 May 2021 15:24:59
Ed001 just wondering what you're opinion on cavani is? I know how I feel but you usually give a well rounded view.

BigRed87

{Ed001's Note - he has been an excellent player for years, not the most clinical finisher, but one of the best in terms of movement to get himself into place to miss in the first place. He gets in the right places often enough to score lots of goals as well, which is just as important. And saying not the most clinical is in comparison to the best such as Lewandowski, compared to an average Prem striker he is clinical. Added to that, his link up play is exceptional, his technique is extremely good and he is big and strong. He is ideal for the English game. The big issue is injuries, he does tend to miss chunks of every season with niggling injuries, which can upset a team when a key player is in and out like that. They don't tend to be long periods out injured, but a couple of games here and there, which can stop a team building rhythm if there is no replacement to hand.}

1.) 10 May 2021 18:30:45
Ed001,

I think if someone had asked me to describe Edi Cavani that is exactly how I would have described him as well.

I would have been devastated if he left before I got to see that movement live, the announcement that he is staying is great news.

{Ed001's Note - I think it is a huge plus for United for next season. He is a massive upgrade on Martial up front.}

2.) 11 May 2021 00:27:11
He is but I would be as well so that’s not that big a deal Ed.

In all seriousness he is a huge improvement on anything else we have up front at the moment and gives us a year to make a decision on what to do with Greenwood or whether to go and buy another top striker.

07 May 2021 16:48:39
What I wouldn't give to have cavani in his prime! What an absolute baller. Oh and I hope he signs for another year so I can get to enjoy watching him live!

BigRed87

1.) 07 May 2021 17:57:06
One of this players that to me has all the hallmarks of what i want to see in a Manchester United player.
He would thrive at a full OT and be a real cult hero. Fans respond to players that bust their ass to win.

2.) 08 May 2021 02:22:20
Big red,

I’ve said this all season I am desperate to watch him live, his movement is unbelievable, I can’t wait.

3.) 08 May 2021 09:54:28
Cavani has a winners aggressive attitude, a bit like Rooney. His movement is very intelligent, I hope it educates our young forwards, not just the first team ones but the 17 year old lad we signed after scoring 600 goals for City.

4.) 08 May 2021 14:58:15
I loved how he protected Greenwood, straight in there, snarling, looking after his team mate, what a bloke.

17 Aug 2020 11:46:42
Is it just me that thinks rashford is so overrated? He always chooses the wrong option and doesn't work back and is just not good enough when comparing to the top wingers.

BigRed87

1.) 17 Aug 2020 11:59:33
The front 3 getting stick I see a lot today, those 58 goals between them must have been me hallucinating.
Yes we squandered chances last night and we do need to be a bit more clinical but let's not start slating our own again, we are a work in progress, forget how much has been spent under previous managers this is a different time and the squad needs better quality in depth which will require more time and money unfortunately. Perhaps Rashford is jaded, its not like we can really rest our front 3 as there is nobody who can replace them of the quality needed, give the lads a break, they've done very well.

2.) 17 Aug 2020 12:10:40
1st job is to get rid of ole carrick and mckenna after that let a proper coach and coaching team decide on the future of our players.
Big red 87. i'm think rashford does work back. His form has not been good since the restart. i'm not sure why but seriously we can't judge a lot of these players under ole he is a very very very poor coach at this level.

3.) 17 Aug 2020 12:12:06
Rashford hasn't really got back to a 100% since a serious injury . I thought he was flying before the injury.
But give the lad time .
I thought we played well last night, look at the last time we played Sevilla and its like night and day.
But you need to put the ball in the net, on another you score 5 but that's cup knock out football .
Roll on next season.

4.) 17 Aug 2020 12:17:34
Who are we suggesting for coach now?

5.) 17 Aug 2020 12:17:51
So funny how a player has a bit of bad form they are suddenly overrated and terrible on here. He hasn’t been great since his injury but you feel like he’s a goal away from getting a bit of confidence back, he was phenomenal before lockdown and when he got injured we all knew we would struggle without him, no worries from me about him getting back to form pretty quickly in the new season.

6.) 17 Aug 2020 12:20:42
Rashford has been very port since the restart, his decision making is awful. He keep running in to players when he has simple options to pass either side. He was so frustrating last night watching him. He also seems to have this big time charlie look / swagger about him now. He wasted so many promising attacking moves last night.

7.) 17 Aug 2020 12:37:29
Can we please leave off knocking young players like Rashford. He had a bad injury and that combined with a loss of form means right now his confidence is not high. He is still a young man and he needs support. He is clearly a very talented player. He will come good.

8.) 17 Aug 2020 12:42:44
Big time Charlie look? Have a look at what the big time Charlie did during C.V.

9.) 17 Aug 2020 12:55:49
I like rash and agree with you salford i think he will come good. But people are entitled to their opinions.
You could have said the same for Phil jones salford remember the next duncan edwards
Or for Wilson or macheda
Januzai was the next giggs.
Shaw was going to be the best lb in the world
My point is rash could fulfil his potential but he may not and he might fade away like those above. People are entitled to voice their opinion.
I think rashford will be beret than all those above but he has been poor now for 8 or 10 games on the spin.
A good rest will do him the world of good.
He has suffered without shaw i think shappy made that point its easier for him to play with a naturally left footed fb alongside him.
Personally i think he needs better coaching. They all do. Some decent players in our squad that just don't seen too have any clear plan or direction.

10.) 17 Aug 2020 12:59:35
Rashford has had a bad injury but he is a talent who hasn't recaptured his form post lockdown. He does look very miserable and frustrated which will hopefully improve with his form after the short break. We are all keen to heap praise on him, greenwood, martial etc but we should remember they are still kids : very well paid and fortunate to play for man utd but still kids.

11.) 17 Aug 2020 13:13:56
Questioning rashfords decision making and how poor he is, is quite harsh.

I think we are rushing people back from major injuries.
Ole doesn't help his cause at all, and keeps overplaying players until they either succumb to injury or get badly out of form. Tired and overworked players scuff chances, especially in a system which demands pressing.

Rashford is still class, and when he has a bad game he needs to be substituted. Last game greenwood was brought off when rashford was the worse player.

Ole seems to have forgotten Martial can play LW and he should have played ighalo up front and Martial LW. It's a team sport and not the first XI sport.

If we are not going to use Ighalo, better to cut ties with him. Seems like a signing Ole didn't want.

12.) 17 Aug 2020 13:36:20
a proper manager like moyes? LVG? JOSE?

the same song is getting sang on here. it getting boring.

13.) 17 Aug 2020 13:37:00
Been poor in the post lockdown period but i take issue with him being overrated, whos been rating him lol.

For most of his united career he's been compared with danny welbeck lol, hardly flattering.

Dont remember anyone putting him on the neymar, hazard, mane, salah, sterling bracket.

But he's definitely made huge strides this season and should be aiming for 15-20 non penalty goals in the prem next season.

14.) 17 Aug 2020 13:40:57
Really good post rohan. I agree with that. Very good assessment imo.

15.) 17 Aug 2020 13:56:45
Rashford has struggled post his return from injury.
But 22 goals and 8 assists from Left Wing is a great output.
He works hard defensively as well.

Imagine when he hits peak. His attitude and work ethic will help to realize his full potential.

Also, this is another reason we need Sancho, who can play LW too.
More competition can bring the best out of everyone.
Right now James and Mata are the closest competition and they are just not good enough if we want to challenge for top honours.

16.) 17 Aug 2020 16:31:41
I've always been so frustrated with him. There is a player there though I know but it's whether he can get to the level everyone thinks he can? Maybe with proper coaching he can but I'm not convinced as of yet. And as for the question of which manager I'd choose Nagelsmann all day long but with a director of football.

01 Nov 2019 18:41:18
Ed001 I'd love to hear your thoughts on mctominay as a player? Do you think he's got what it takes at the highest level? I'm loving watching how dedicated he is in every game and he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Cheers.

BigRed87

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, he is a very good midfielder and improving rapidly. I certainly think he is a player you need to hold onto if you are to move forward as a team. Imo he is the player I would be looking to as your captain.}

1.) 01 Nov 2019 18:54:45
The improvement he has made has been phenomenal. Once hailed as only picked to kick Pogba up the butt. He has now symbolises everything our club should be about, hard work and dedication to make the most of your talent.

He probably is my favourite player in the current United side. To think we have Tuanzebe and Rashford in the same age group who look like they will make it at the club as well. If Garner, Williams and Greenwood can make it as well then half our first team could be academy lads in a few years.

2.) 02 Nov 2019 10:55:10
Ed001 rightly or wrongly i think maguire will be captain next season. I agree on mctom. He is improving rapidly. He had risen to the challenge and really been our best player along with james in what's been an awful start. i'm looking up the table for the first time in ages. We have a little confidence and a little momentum going into a good looking run of fixtures.
For too long now we have failed to get any sort of consistency. The feeling right now is a bit like when ole took over. He got a couple of good wins and then went on a great run before it all went pear shaped after psg.
Let's hope its not another false dawn.
There is no doubt that we should be a more effective unit than we have been. Mctom and James have been the stadard bearers and if we can get 5 or 6 more players playing to their level if consistency. This team can become a more effective and productive unit. Ddg looks in much better nick I've been pleased enough with maguire. Awb just needs to get himself 100% he looks the real deal. Martial looks happy and is working harder.

3.) 02 Nov 2019 11:45:57
Ken, surely if Maguire is a senior player and a leader in the dressing room then who gets the captain's arm band between Maguire or McTominay doesn't really matter.

The good thing is we are actually able to debate about who should be the captain with more than one credible option.

One of the biggest issues we have had in our squad in recent years is a lack of leadership. Yet we now have Maguire and McTominay showing leadership skills each week. Tuanzebe, Garner and Williams have all been captain's at youth level and all been tipped as future possible club captain's and leaders.

We need some strong leaders in the dressing room who will push the others to excel.

Things are slowly getting better.

4.) 02 Nov 2019 16:12:04
Cheers for the reply Ed001. Hopefully when we have a better team around him he'll be 10 times the player!

{Ed001's Note - you need about 10 better players around him! ;-)

Caolon_2 if we were guaranteed to get Nagelsmann in the summer I would go for that. You're probably right that it would be hard to get him during the season. Maybe ragnick as DOF too and we can actually start having a proper structure and style of play. Although on both it's more than likely wishful thinking.

Nagelsmann is the only one I want. Give him whatever resources he wants and let him work his magic. Amazing coach and plays football the right way.
