Italian window doesn’t close for another month yet, so wondering if the Lukaku deal has been agreed in time to allow us to bring in a replacement?

Marathonred

1.) 07 Aug 2019 20:50:59
Time to bring in a replacement? Cutting it fine 😂.

2.) 07 Aug 2019 22:46:48
Ed, if we sell Lukaku (hopefully) are they looking to bring a last minute replacement in?

3.) 08 Aug 2019 00:40:06
Solskjaer has apparently said he’s happy with the forwards he has. Defence is fixed. Focus should now be on midfield and rightly so.

4.) 08 Aug 2019 07:19:07
Perth you're correct but by heck the clock is actually speeding up! :)

5.) 08 Aug 2019 08:19:01
I agree about the midfield but I can see anyone coming now. They’d be here already or at least a bid gone in. It looks like Fernandes was never of much interest or they’d have just paid the 62m. Gone quiet on Neres, if that bid was true. Eriksen or Dybala not happening and I don’t think we’re seriously linked to anyone else are we?
He might be happy with his midfield too.

05 Aug 2019 13:44:35
Di Marzio reporting that Juventus are still interested in striking a deal for Lukaku and could return with another offer of a player. Douglas Costa would be a great addition.

Marathonred

1.) 05 Aug 2019 14:21:17
A straight swap for costa would be something.

2.) 05 Aug 2019 14:23:18
Why not pay extra $30 million and get Cristiano? Just saying.

3.) 05 Aug 2019 14:50:31
Wouldn't have costa for free.

Rumour was matuidi, mandzukic and cash for lukaku.

4.) 05 Aug 2019 14:52:26
We have some decent young forwards. We need to give them a chance. We should sell Lukaku without replacement. I still think we will do that, but for a little less than we have been holding out for once the window in England closes.

If we need anyone else, it is in midfield. I'm glad Dybala is off. We should spend the money elsewhere.

5.) 05 Aug 2019 14:55:11
I really hope not. Another player with serious attitude problems who has struggled in both Germany and Italy since leaving Ukraine. He’s missed about half the available games each season and has a pitiful goals return considering he has been playing for the dominant team in each league. I wouldn’t be happy signing him full stop, even if the deal was forty million + Costa for Lukaku. A straight swap would be a terrible deal for us.

6.) 05 Aug 2019 15:20:09
Take what we can get for lukako and use the money to fund Bruno or savic either would close a good window for us in terms of the players we will have bought and those that we have kept namely ddg and pp.

7.) 05 Aug 2019 21:26:40
I’d still be keen if Dybala deal can be worked out.

8.) 06 Aug 2019 09:38:58
if they included Bentancur in the deal for Lukaku it would be great.

30 Jul 2019 22:26:19
Sky that Dybala swap with Lukaku agreed in principle. I guess the hard part will be persuading Dybala to move to the slums of the North of England 🤷🏻‍♂️🤔.

Marathonred

1.) 30 Jul 2019 22:46:54
I really hope this isn’t true. This whole Dybala thing just sounds like another Di Maria all over again. Good player when he wants to be, but I don’t think United need another player that doesn’t really want to be there.

2.) 30 Jul 2019 22:49:12
I’d be over the moon with Dybala for Lukaku. Fantastic swap for us. His shooting and finishing is brilliant and would be great up front.

3.) 30 Jul 2019 22:57:32
What’s not to love? He’ll be eating in Australasia and dancing in Panacea before we know it!

4.) 30 Jul 2019 23:10:31
If the Maguire and fernandes deals get sorted and we manage to get dybala and dave signs its been a massive window for us.

We would have sorted the main areas out. Reduced the overall age of the team

And then there's the pogba situation.

5.) 30 Jul 2019 23:28:47
Easy tiger . Pride of the North.

6.) 31 Jul 2019 06:03:22
Just to be clear, don't compare Di Maria transfer with Dybala's. The whole world knew Di Maria wanted to go to PSG before joining United, Dybala just doesn't want to leave Juventus (if the media is right) .

7.) 31 Jul 2019 07:10:13
Excellent player when played as a CF but that’s something we can’t offer him.

When the feeing is that we need to “persuade” him to come and doesn’t want to leave where he is, it’s not starting off on the right foot.

Not even sure if it’s true because it is Sky after all. They are full of it.

8.) 31 Jul 2019 07:52:01
Wazza why can’t we offer him a CF spot?

9.) 31 Jul 2019 08:33:40
I really don't get this we shouldn't need to persuade players to come play for utd argument that some people have. We have a manager whose managerial experience comes from managing giants like molde and cardiff city, our 2 best players pogba and ddg don't want to be here. Our highest paid player is trash and unmovable, our upper management who are responsible for this last few years of nightmare still haven't learned their lessons. If any actually world class player comes to utd without needing to be convinced i would have serious doubts over his intelligence.

10.) 31 Jul 2019 09:02:10
He’s a massive upgrade on Lukaku. Great deal if true. Inter need to put their hands in their pockets if they want him now.

11.) 31 Jul 2019 09:15:53
common_sense moyes. spot on pal. some of these fans live in the past. We are nothing like the united of 10 years ago.

12.) 31 Jul 2019 09:19:58
If he actually wants to come and it doesn’t impact any potential deal for bf, I’m all for it. On his day he is a great player.

13.) 31 Jul 2019 10:44:19
Stand, because Rashford is clearly Ole's preferred choice and Dybala is not going to sit on the bench waiting for an opportunity. He's too good for that and needs to be played in his best position if he is to replicate his incredible goal scoring form of two years ago.

Playing him out of position is what led to his downturn in form. He was excellent when played as a CF.

14.) 31 Jul 2019 10:49:45
This may be a negotiation tactic to force Inter to pay up or see their main target go to a rival.

15.) 31 Jul 2019 13:41:20
Wazza how can he be his preferred choice of the two when Dybala isn’t here yet? Rashford May be his preferred choice with what we have. Rashford hardly set the world alight. He didn’t bang in 25 goals did he. To talk as if someone’s position is set in stone isn’t good for anyone. Anyone and I mean anyone including your best players should feel they have to perform to keep their place in the side.

16.) 31 Jul 2019 17:00:40
Wazza when did he play cf for juve? How many games has he played cf? Before ronaldo arrived it was Higuain before that it was mandzukic to best of my knowledge. He has played most of his games off the right or top of a diamond midfield according to the statistics.

Ed002. To your knowledge, are United looking to conclude any deals today?

Marathonred

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}

Apologies Ed. I had read the posts, but it wasn’t clear if we were still working on Fernandes. Thank you for all the effort you have put into making this a great site.

Is anyone buying into the Pogba ‘back spasm’ excuse for not travelling to Cardiff yesterday? I get the feeling he is just trying to push through the move he clearly desires.

The team form at the end of last season clearly baffled many fans. Something within the camp wasn’t right. I can’t think of anything that’s changed for all to be sorted for the coming season.

Marathonred

1.) 05 Aug 2019 23:10:39
Played for the u23s the other day.

2.) 05 Aug 2019 23:15:53
Yes it was all apart of pogba and raiolas secret “operation tapas” to get him to real madrid through the back door.

Fake a back spasm so that he had to play a limited role against kristansund and then miss the milan game with a reoccurrence of this so called back spasm.

This then culminated in real madrid launching the showstopping bid of james Rodríguez and a packet of jammy dodgers.

3.) 05 Aug 2019 23:17:35
Three players who have expressed a desire to leave. Three clubs involved. A gentleman's agreement may have been reached?
Pogba --> RM
Eriksen --> Man Utd
Fernandes --> Spurs.

4.) 05 Aug 2019 23:27:00
I think they just ran out of steam, Ole was adamant they would be fitter this year, he wants them to be the fittest and run the most and if they do they will do well.

5.) 05 Aug 2019 23:47:58
what a scene it would be when Pogba starts next weekend against Chelsea.

6.) 06 Aug 2019 00:06:00
Richard what I'd do to have Eriksen here at United but something tells me you've got more chance of Pogba going to Spurs then him coming here!

7.) 06 Aug 2019 07:01:05
If, in effect Eriksen replaced Pogba I think we would be worse off, not because Eriksen isn’t a good player, because he is, but Pogba is better. We also don’t have the deeper midfield general for the want of a better description, still not replaced Keane. Would Eriksen and Pogba work together? Big question. However sell Pogba and spend half on Eriksen will please money men wouldn’t it!

8.) 06 Aug 2019 08:11:51
Carrick replaced keane, red man. Obviously not like for like, you'll never find another Keane but Carrick made that position his own.

Signing eriksen could not influence selling pogba, they play in different positions. We are already light in CM, selling pogba and bringing in eriksen would do us no favours.

9.) 06 Aug 2019 12:34:31
Angel

Per Ed002

{Ed002's Note - Unable to sign the players the club wants they will look to Ereiksen as an option if Pogba leaves. }.

30 Jul 2019 19:42:32
Been following this site for the past four years, but never actually signed up until now.

Looking forward to this next week as I believe we will could potentially have a very busy week with transfers.

Hypothetically IF we were to complete Maguire, B. Fernandes, SMS and Dybala with Pogba and Lukaku leaving, where do you think we would be looking at finishing in the league? Good enough squad to challenge?

Marathonred

{Ed047's Note - Welcome to the page Marathonred and enjoy the banter with your fellow reds mate.

1.) 30 Jul 2019 19:48:03
Cheers Ed047! And thanks to all the Ed’s that make this site what it is.

{Ed047's Note - you’re welcome mate 👍🏼

2.) 30 Jul 2019 19:50:58
Welcome aboard mate.
We will win the league👍.

3.) 30 Jul 2019 20:07:46
That’s the positivity I like to hear Ken. Certainly looking exciting to watch in pre season. I would settle for a season of exciting attacking football after the Van Gaal/ Mourinho years.

4.) 30 Jul 2019 20:48:56
I think, if we pull these signings off, and they settle and gel, then 3rd minimum.

{Ed0333's Note - I reckon you’ll be third by January 2022

5.) 31 Jul 2019 00:04:17
Welcome marathonred. I think it'll be the basis of a good team. 3rd or 4th.

6.) 31 Jul 2019 06:53:19
Welcome marathonred.

7.) 31 Jul 2019 10:02:02
With Pogba gone it will be difficult season as new players will take time to adjust to Premier league, i don't think Ole would want that risk. If he were to take one than he better get someone like Saul to play with Bruno, I have seen a lot of Savic in last two seasons and trust me he is nowhere near Pogba.

Cheers Park! After all the doom and gloom of last night on this site things are looking up! Adding Fernandes and Dybala to the squad will certainly add quality to the midfield. Strong rumours of Mandzukic being added too. Pogba being left out of the squad for tomorrow suggests he could be sold?

Does anyone know if Dybala is potentially an alternative to Bruno Fernandes or additional?

I know Ed002 mentioned that Bruno and Maguire were being worked on as priority, but if the press are to believed a lot of negotiations/ intention is currently being placed on the Dybala deal.

{Ed047's Note - right lads the ill discipline on here is shocking, there’s at least 2 yellows and I think I’m going to have to send ed07’s mention of the name Wesley Snydur up to VAR as a potential straight red!
