Any truth in a Juve swap deal - Smalling and Bernardeschi? It would suit us, Bernardeschi is a quality left-footed player. Plus we'll offload a defender.

ziko87

{Ed002's Note - Federico Bernardeschi (RW/AM) A Barcelona move was rejected in January but he will be available in the summer. Bernardeschi's opportunities have been in decline on the RW and he has had to play out of position which has not worked out. Milan have dropped prior interest whilst both Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are not interested in any exchange deals involving him. Player wants to stay in Turin or would be open to a move to London - which will see him offered to Chelsea as part of a trade for Jorginho and/or Emerson or to Manchester United for Pogba. Chelsea's interest will take in to account Willian signing a new contract but a move to Chelsea is very unlikely. As for an exchange for Smalling, I know nothing of it. If it were to happen then it removes the need for Sancho, who without doubt is the preferred choice.}

1.) 03 Aug 2020 11:20:48
I agree that there is sense in Jorginho/ Bernardeschi swap. But let me disagree that if we sign Sancho, there is still a need of another RW. If we want to compete we have to have at least 2 players in a position. Rash/ James, Martial/ Mason/ Ighalo, Sancho/?, Bruno/ Lingard. I know some players can play at Rw, but it's not the same when their natural position isn't there.

2.) 03 Aug 2020 12:13:19
Ziko87 you sneaked Lingard in there HaHa . if we sign Sancho and Fernandes needs a rest or can’t play than Sancho can play in the hole and Greenwood on the right. Lingard can fetch their water for them if he likes.

3.) 03 Aug 2020 13:54:17
Yes, I said somewhere that Sancho can play CAM too. But I sneaked Lingard there, because of the feeling I have for about 2-3 days, that he'll stay another year. Even if it's to carry the balls.

4.) 03 Aug 2020 15:52:18
Lingard should stay, it will be his finally year at Old Trafford and he will get a nice big contract from his next team.

5.) 03 Aug 2020 17:53:16
Bernardeschi is a good player, but the one I'd want I'd Merih Demiral. He looks like he will be a top CB.

31 Jul 2020 11:07:58
Ed002, anything changed in "United no interest is Alaba"? I would choose him over Koulibaly. Plus he is natural left back.

ziko87

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 31 Jul 2020 11:26:38
Subject closed then. Too bad. Thanks!

29 Jul 2020 09:28:28
Hello! With Coutinho and James Rodriguez looking for escape and United (maybe) looking for another creative midfielder, have we shown any interest in them, even if it's a loan?

ziko87

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

1.) 29 Jul 2020 11:54:18
I hope not, neither of the them are what we need.

2.) 29 Jul 2020 12:43:04
Actually I think either would be a decent alternative to Grealish if indeed Utd are looking for a creative AM/ LW (as they seem to be) . But recent history with these types of players isn't great. At least with a loan there is no obligation.

3.) 29 Jul 2020 14:03:58
We need a player like them but I'd be sceltical about signing either, particularly Coutinho.

4.) 29 Jul 2020 14:27:16
I will take Eje of QPR for creative side squad depth, Looks promising and will be good in rotation without demanding much bigger role.

5.) 29 Jul 2020 14:35:36
That's why I asked the eds for information, I didn't find any in the "search engine", Especially if Barcelona and Real want to loan them. Exactly, if United don't sign Grealish, James and Coutinho are alternatives, if available on loan, because in today's market + "United's tax", I really don't know what Barcelona and Real would want for them. Even though, I think they will be useful if we get one of them.

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to go into the finances but you should be able to easily find a response about JR.}

6.) 29 Jul 2020 15:00:59
The rumoured deal for James is €25m and ed has said on other threads about Coutinho a loan fee of €30m with a €50m buy option however he also said teams would look to a reduction in this.

Personally if the fee I saw for James is accurate and his wages aren't extortionate I would look to him I don't rate grealish especially for the fee and it looks like we are committing our major spend to Sancho. Hopefully with a few sales we can commit to signing another midfielder someone with an eye for a pass.

7.) 29 Jul 2020 16:37:48
Thanks, ed002 and Dbrooks90. Absolutely no way 80m for Grealish. 50m at max. If Villa stick with the insane price, why not James or Coutinho. After all, they are better players than Lingard and Pereira :)

8.) 29 Jul 2020 17:37:22
agree with remanutd none are what we need.

9.) 30 Jul 2020 08:50:06
James is not what we need. We already have one.

10.) 30 Jul 2020 04:48:51
James Rodriguez certainly wouldn't be my first choice. But at that reported fee if he is sensible with wages demands they he would be a better option than Grealish for 80m.

11.) 30 Jul 2020 13:28:12
Both can be very good on their day and under the right circumstances could excel in the premier league. If it were a case of signing one of them or signing nobody, I think they could do a job for us, but there are plenty of players I’d hope that the club will be looking at ahead of them.

18 Jul 2020 10:51:34
Hi there! First I would like to ask the Eds if United have some interest in Declan Rice? Or is there strong interest from elsewhere? I think he is the sort of player we need, similar to Matic, but much more energetic. So, my choices for 3 transfers are Rice, Sancho and a left-footed CB, (I doubt it will be Koulibaly), need Maguire to be on the right side. Of course we have to offload Rojo, Lingard (maybe), Pereira, Smalling, Jones and Sanchez.

ziko87

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United have not made any approach for Declan Rice.}

1.) 18 Jul 2020 11:31:56
Too bad, thanks Ed.

2.) 19 Jul 2020 11:19:15
Someone scored a goal on the tv.

{Ed047's Note - sarcasm? 🤷‍♂️

3.) 19 Jul 2020 12:01:17
GDS2, yeah, because I rate him and expect 30 goals from a DM. Why always the hate? If you don't like Rice or any other player someone brings up, just say it. Stop attacking or start arguing with everyone. I'm working in a football analysis company, which btw United use. So stop clowning around.

4.) 19 Jul 2020 13:31:05
Some people just can't let it go😂😂😂😂😂.

5.) 19 Jul 2020 13:31:52
Ziko, so you're the guys who ran over the stats of over 800 right backs before coming to the conclusion that AWB was the best RB available 🤣.

6.) 19 Jul 2020 13:47:02
Shappy, make difference between analysis and statistics ;) I just said I rate Rice, not for the sarcastically mentioned goal, but for the other things he does.

My opinion is based on last couple of seasons, not on other night match (which I didn't watch TBH) . Why do you want to be always against each other here? We are supporting the same club, so stop with the BS.

7.) 19 Jul 2020 22:10:24
Ed,

No.

8.) 21 Jul 2020 08:19:58
Shappy you’ve commented above that you think Wan Bissaka is the best defensive right back in the league by a distance, why the contradiction?

9.) 21 Jul 2020 10:30:25
Gilly, what contradiction?

10.) 22 Jul 2020 08:16:55
Shappy, Your comment in this thread suggests you don’t think Wan-Bissaka is very good, which is immediately questionable, yet your comment in another thread states you think Wan-Bissaka is the best defensive right back in the league, and only behind Trent overall. Have you inadvertently contradicted yourself or were you being facetious in the above comment?

11.) 22 Jul 2020 10:38:22
Gilly I think you misunderstood. AWB is an amazing RB, especially defensively. I'm pretty sure a blind man would have been able to pick AWB out as one of the best RB's in England last season.

Yet Ed Woodward proclaimed that United scouted over 800 RB's before signing AWB. Which was derided at the time as it was so obvious that AWB was the best option available.

I was alluding to that, rather that suggesting that AWB wasn't a good RB.

30 Jan 2020 07:32:44
Eds, apart from Muriqi, Dembele and Slimani, can you drop other strikers name we are looking at?

ziko87

{Ed002's Note - They will look at the players being offered to them - but there is no point in brining in a player who will add nothing.}

1.) 30 Jan 2020 09:58:17
Thanks.

After the frustration yesterday, now I'm positive. We are winning the League, at least semi final in the CL. And Pellistri is way better than Sancho and is 10 times cheaper. We go again in 10 days. #GGMU #GlazersOutWoodwardOut.

05 Oct 2020 20:58:04
So, it looks like it's game over for United's window. For me, it's awful, I don't know about you, but I'm not satisfied at all with Cavani, Telles and VDB. The right wing position again is left empty, I can't believe how many years have gone without having a RW. I know the problems are deeper and in all areas, but sign Robben at least 😂 I assume that the window for transfers inside England will be opened for 2 more weeks? At least get Sarr, give them 50m I really feel the need of a RW.

ziko87

1.) 05 Oct 2020 21:15:55
It's not awful ziko, cavani, Telles and VDB are three decent signings. Desperate maybe particularly with Cavani but 3 signings that no doubt improve the squad. I am more worried about the fact that it is Ole that will be coaching/ managing them. It's as good a squad we have had in years.

2.) 05 Oct 2020 21:18:30
Jack Wilshere is available in a free. not over yet.

3.) 05 Oct 2020 21:55:52
I'd take Jack on pay whilst not injured contract. Is that a thing?

4.) 05 Oct 2020 22:09:19
Pay as you Play.

5.) 05 Oct 2020 22:08:07
Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. One of the most over rated English midfielders ever.

27 Sep 2020 21:45:05
Ok. Romero, Rojo, Pereira (Lazio), Smalling (Roma or Inter) out. Telles, Sancho and possibly a ST (King maybe) in. Will this be a good window? Eds, which from the above will be hard to be done?

ziko87

{Ed002's Note - I am not able to answer that}

1.) 27 Sep 2020 22:40:10
My biggest worry is pogba. Against Brighton he didn't produce a shot. Create a chance. Make 1 tackle. Make an interception. Get the Dutch lad in his place for starters.
Can't sell him cause no club would pay for him.

2.) 27 Sep 2020 22:59:20
😂 looks like its pogba turn to kop the unnecessary stick at the minute.

Related to the OP that would a great windo In my opinion.

3.) 27 Sep 2020 23:06:32
I think Leahy is just making a valid point. It’s not really stick. Ole is saying himself Pogba needs to find fitness but right now it’s detrimental to our performance and his. We spent 40m on VDB for this sort of situation. This weekend proves it’s not as easy to predict who the winner will be in any match and every point counts from game 1. We cannot be soft and Ole needs to make a tough call but he has to do it I think.

4.) 27 Sep 2020 23:06:32

5.) 28 Sep 2020 00:09:53
Unnecessary stick. The player makes up that himself. I'm fed up of the excuses for pogba. he strolls around the pitch. Doesn't work half hard enough for his team. He is on huge money and isn't good enough to wear the united shirt.
He is the first player I'd sell.
A big disappointment since the day he signed for me.
I was never more disappointed with a player because I thought he was going to boss games.

6.) 28 Sep 2020 00:32:59
Dsg pogba has been woefull for months don't let a hand full of games paper over dire performaces he gives.

He also doesn't want to be hear. Just like players like smalling roja jones etc we have again not sold players that shoukd be sold.

7.) 28 Sep 2020 06:16:57
As a matter of fact, I have never said a bad word for Pogba, but even I'm starting to get annoyed with him. I still hope that he kicks on, because we really need the best Pogba this season. We have Leicester, Wolves, Everton all playing well, even Arsenal have a chance for top 8 this season 😂😂😂.

8.) 28 Sep 2020 07:44:42
Rumours we're in for Pogba's best friend in Kanye, maybe that would allow for a diamond or a single pivot. Then again probably just paper talk.

9.) 28 Sep 2020 07:47:37
Bruno was our best midfielder against Brighton yet only had one shot on goal, where is the criticism.

10.) 28 Sep 2020 08:13:13
Grimslives, still set up the goal for Rash and converted the penalty in the 100min. Plus Bruno was brilliant when he came in, so he is allowed a couple of bad games. Pogba must start playing like himself, with confidence, with great passing, bossing the midfield. I still hope he'll do it.

11.) 28 Sep 2020 08:25:32
Yes let's spend 60mill on Pogbas mate just in the hope Pogba starts performing and when he doesn't they will give us 60 mill back. I will ask Ed to mention this point when negotiating 🤣🤣.

12.) 28 Sep 2020 08:45:37
It's more about playing Pogba in a position to which he's more suited, which is not holding midfielder. Diamond or single pivot would allow Pogba to be playing where he should be playing. He's not the best tackler, nor the best interceptor fo the ball, so stands to reason he's not going to do too well playing deep. Also, I do hope if we do sign his friend, it's Kanté and not Kanye, although the latter could probably be used to confuse the opposition.

13.) 28 Sep 2020 09:31:18
Lovely Ludwig, whether Pogba plays as a holding midfielder or just in the perfect nine square meters of the pitch where his fans seem to think is the only place he should be, don't you think we should expect at least the basics of being able to pass a football and maybe run around a bit?

If he can't tackle, he can't intercept, he can't shoot and he can't pass, what does it matter what position he plays in?

14.) 28 Sep 2020 09:41:41
Not a single player in the squad can pull of some of the passes he does. Sure he's definitely not fit and sharp at the moment, but claiming Pogba cannot pass is just absurd.

15.) 28 Sep 2020 10:04:08
Ole should try 4-3-3 with Matic (I would suggest Fred, he's more energetic) in the DM, Pogba left, Bruno right (he has played there a lot) . This should be tried, with the 3 upfront it is not necessary to have one behind the striker, with Pogba still a good passer, even though he's doing bad lately.

16.) 28 Sep 2020 10:06:23
It's funny how everything turns into a Pogba debate at the moment. I've never really been a fan, I struggle to find how he best fits into a side to maximise his talents and those of his teammates.

However, statistically he has been one of our most important midfielders from a creative view point since he signed. Last season with him out we struggled until we signed Bruno to be our chief creator. However, our best form last season still coincided with when Pogba was on the pitch. Which suggests he has an overall positive impact on our team.

Yet, he wants to leave and his style of play easily lends itself to the idea that he can't be bothered or lacks defensive nous. The truth is that rarely is one player entirely responsible for goals conceded. Normally several people have made mistakes, sometimes only minor ones, in the build up to a goal being conceded.

Currently I would be prepared to cut him a little slack as he is still recovering from having the virus. My father had it earlier in the year and is still struggling to breathe properly nearly 6 months later.

Personally I think on this occasion I would lay the blame at the feet of the manager. Clearly Pogba is struggling and that was clear against Palace. He should have been replaced by DvdB for the Brighton game. Yet, there is a valid thought process of slowly adding DvdB to the team, allowing him to get used to the league and develop his playing relationships with his teammates during training, while coming on for 20-30 minutes a game. In an ideal scenario that is how you would hope to introduce a new player. The reality is that there is nothing normal about the current situation.

17.) 28 Sep 2020 10:08:20
Yeh the odd Hollywood pass doesn’t make up for the other 85 mins of each game he’s garbage.

18.) 28 Sep 2020 10:34:10
I'd argue that in spite of Pogba having a bad game on Saturday, the game shifted when he left the field. When he is on the pitch, opposition teams tend to have two, sometimes three, players hard pressing him, which leads to him being dispossessed a lot. But this also means the opposition's attention is edged towards making sure he isn't in the game. He left the field with us leading and getting back into the game, regaining a semblance of momentum. Enters Fred, and the threat is no longer there, the opposition are freed from the task of isolating Pogba and they were again able to restore their dominance. Fred did next to nothing when he came on, and he doesn't pose much of a threat because his passing range is truly limited and he's not capable of taking two or three players on, often forcing a foul (how many times was Pogba fouled on Saturday? ) . Point being, that even when he isn't playing well, he's affecting the game by the threat he is capable of, even when he is unable to actually impose that threat.

19.) 28 Sep 2020 12:45:34
He lost the ball, too many touches, 2 minutes later awb does the exact same thing, point is, if pogba is a big personality in the dressing room, seen as a leader and it is okay to constantly lose the ball, this attitude is invectious and has a bearing on our players attitudes. he 4 me should be the first person moved on, with Woodward going with him.

20.) 28 Sep 2020 13:36:36
On paper we have one of the best midfields and our attack has loads of goals in it . Its all about fitting Bruno Pogba and Vdb correctly. Pogba is wasted in a deep role as is Bruno so Vdb has to be the holding Midfielder allowing the two others to run the game i just don't trust OGS to sort it . sorry😷😷.

21.) 29 Sep 2020 10:12:16
I think Kante would be a great addition.

28 Jan 2020 22:22:31
So, finally we will get our man. With little time left for other deals and last couple of years Woodward showed us that he can't close deals fast, can any of the Eds tell me are loan deals more easily to be completed or they need equal time like buying deal? And do we have time to complete a deal or just enough for doing loans?

ziko87

1.) 29 Jan 2020 07:10:11
Loan deals tend to be quicker to sort out as there is significantly less to negotiate. That said it doesn't mean we will bring anyone else in.

2.) 29 Jan 2020 09:19:57
they might have been negotiating other deals at the same time shappy? Doubt it will come to anything but heres hoping? DoF would be a major bonus if filled.

3.) 29 Jan 2020 10:02:48
Maybe Cookyman, yet sadly I doubt it. The club have said they only intended to look at deals for long term targets. Most of them won't be available in January. Bruno is the one who was available.

I could see maybe a loan deal for a forward player as a response to Rashfords injury. As a short term fix.

However, if you have a decent striker who's scoring goals for you why would you want to lose them mid season on loan. You might be able to justify selling them if your club needs the cash. But a loan makes no sense.

I think the best we could hope for would be to sign someone like Alcacer from Dortmund or Jovic from Real Madrid. Good players who for one reason or another aren't getting minutes.

4.) 29 Jan 2020 11:28:01
Agree Shappy but there's hope . Dof would be a positive move giving hope moving forward but regarding a loan deal would put the polish lad at ac milan in the ring. Loan with option to buy wouldn't be a bad move at the fees quoted; allegedly dortmund and spurs are circling atm though.

I think he is ready for a medical, so I've watched a couple of his "good" videos in the platform/ company I work for. He looks similar to Dan James in terms of speed and height, BUT is far more skilful with the ball and the first thing on his mind when he gets the ball is to take on the opponent. Penarol whant him to stay on loan, does any of the ED's know if he'll be loaned back? And will there be issues with a work permit?

I agree on that point, where I too would like to see our final squad as early as it can be. But nevertheless money talks, It is Glazers and Ed in the end, we never know what's up their minds. I'm still positive that Sancho will end up in a red shirt (or zebra)

I've heard that the delay of the Sancho deal is for commercial purpose. And I slightly agree with that opinion, imagine Ed pulling this deal so late, after everyone gave up. The Internet will crush.

With the team that was set up against Tottenham, we should be able to beat them, no excuses. But enough is enough for Pogba (I'm his biggest defender from the first critic when he came back) and Maguire. I know Pogba is a top, top player, but he produces in 1/ 10 games, not good enough for United. Maguire was so solid at Leicester and how he performed back then, I would want him at United again. That's why Pep wanted him too. Maybe the midfield in front of him at Leicester was better at defending. Maybe he breaks down at the expectations at United. But he is sloppy. This two guys need to up their games massively. Everyone is happy about Martial scoring goals last season, he is nowhere near a good STRIKER, that we need up front (Cavani, even at 33, will prove that) . I could go on with this with a couple of players more. But in those I have faith.

We have to register 25 players, so it's necessary to move players, before sign any. That's if you don't players with high wages to be left out of the 25, but still pay them. We are all furious with the board and EW, but maybe it's not that easy. Good we moved on Dalot, Andreas, Sanchez and Smalling, Rojo and Romero next, then 3 players in in the last day. That's how I see it from all the information I've read.

TrueRedDevil, don't get me started on who I want on the list 😂 I'm afraid CB not happening this window. I still think we lack a quality striker and a CM/ DM (oh how I wish we get Saul) and a CB (I'm not convinced that Upamecano is the right one) . If we get Sancho and the season goes well, next summer a CB and a CM/ DM should be the priority to build on this season. I don't know what will happen if Sancho doesn't come though.3 days to go.
