Any coincidence that our best performance of the season (still pretty bleak viewing) was with 5 at the back? Maybe Amorim was on to something after all and just didn't have the players.
If Amorim had Baleba I think things could have been quite different.
18 Oct 2026 21:40:33
100% JD.
The most sickening part, Wilcox and crew got Baleba (injured), and Carrick is muddling through trying to figure out how to get the best out of the sum of parts Amorim was assembling.
It is comical to watch.
19 Oct 2026 00:21:54
Wilcox told Amorim to play a back 4 and now he’s telling carrick to play a back 5
18 Oct 2026 19:05:46
Serious question here? Keen to know what's people's thoughts are should Bruno be left out of the starting lineup for a few games? he's been poor this season and his attitude hasn't been great in terms of how he's dealing with things on the pitch.
For me I'd leave him out, try to build a solid base for a few games and go from there. I know he's our best player but he isn't playing like it and sometimes Its addition by subtraction.
18 Oct 2026 19:22:23
If you take Bruno out we might as well just give up, you don't take your best player out of any team, what to have Teilemans or Mount in, that's utter ridiculous rubbish.
No he ain't had a great start to the season but who has? Every player in this team been woeful including Carrick and the coaching team. Mbuemo been poor needs 6 goes for. 1 goal, Cunha what's he done 1 assist all season, Martinez made lots of mistakes, even Lammens made his fair share, midfield been non existent and we take our only truly great player out of the team! I heard it all now, but of course RedMan will agree with you.
18 Oct 2026 19:26:57
For me yes. I never really liked him so much. I don't think its bad only now. He creates a lot of low probability chances, but if you always give the ball to attackers some of them balls will become goals.
Not big deal.
I think he is a liability. Part of the problem we are not very solid and lose the ball so much. It reminds me Gerrard, when his coach took him from the center because as great as he was he was tactically bad.
18 Oct 2026 19:39:08
Heaven,
"If you always give the balls to attackers so lf them will become goals". I mean that's literally what an assist is. He hasn't been great so far this season (he often starts slowly) but to suggest he's always been bad is madness, he's been brilliant for us. If it's that easy to create chances I'm sure his assist record will be broken pretty soon.
18 Oct 2026 19:57:49
That's not my point. Sometimes you see a pass or play a good pass. Bruno is trying to make things happen, to create chaos amd chance after chance even if each chance has low probability of scoring.
Throw this process you can have a lot of assists. I know very well that his chance creation last year was of low quality chances, yet he broke the record. Asist is a very overrated metric, means nothing a lot of times it depends on attackers to score the goal.
So if there is a period in which attackers scores even half chances then you will have a lot if assists.
Do you remember the "super creative" Pogba having 4 assists in one match (against Leeds;) and 6-7 in his first 4 games ; People think back then it means something, he is going to break the record. But It means nothing and guess how much assists he had overall the same season.
18 Oct 2026 21:46:56
That's comedy gold right there.
18 Oct 2026 23:09:15
Think we're overlooking the fact Bruno isn't no where near fit Definetly carrying something yet still plays full 90 every week.
18 Oct 2026 23:11:18
Keefy you can just express your opinion. Its not like you own or know the only truth andf everyone else opinion is comedy. I told my arguments (reasonings) many times, if you want oppose them. If not scroll down if you may.
You know i am at exactly the opposite side, i don't understand people that watch United so many years and don't see that this headless chicken is part of the problem. But i try not to insult someone, try to do the same.
18 Oct 2026 23:34:30
Last couple of games it seems that carrick has tweaked the system a bit and is trying to find a more solid midfield combo. As a result Bruno is being played out of position and is being shoehorned in just so he starts, just thought it might be wiser to leave him out a bit and start someone else in their preferred position.
If he's carrying a knock then there's even more reason to do that. Not saying I'm right was just an opinion and I get where others who disagree, are coming from.
18 Oct 2026 23:36:04
Insult? Okay.
Bruno whilst perhaps not ideal is the best thing we have had for a number of years. Chances created/attempted means goals. Of course it is a subjective metric but it's the people putting it in the net we have been lacking.
GDS hit the nail on the head.
Don't be so easily offended if someone disagrees or you will have a hard time of it on here!
18 Oct 2026 17:51:10
I didn't watch, and was out anyway.
Were there any signs of improvement? How did the midfield 3 with Baleba, Santos and Tielemans fare?
Should Lacey get Amad's place?
18 Oct 2026 18:25:39
I am in the minority but yes there was good signs. Without Bruno we were better and certainly more compact at the center. Both Santos and especially Baleba had a good game. Maybe Tielemans had his best with us with the double pivot providing steal behind him.
I don't think they will, but that must be a performance to build on. Stay compact, win some games ugly (we could win ugly today), bring the confidence up and then start from there. In both the atleti and Leeds game we were more solid and better overall.
18 Oct 2026 18:44:53
We had Bruno, Mount, Tielemans, Cunha, Amad and Mbeumo on the field and none of them played in their best positions.
18 Oct 2026 18:50:48
Thought the middle was much better. had legs and looked half decent. Its something because I feared a hammering pre game, so to see constructive passes movement and energy pleased me. Also we didn't buckle when leeds scored, another plus. feared a total collapse. It's not much but its better. simply need a few wins thou.
18 Oct 2026 19:25:42
Wow, anyone who thinks that was good what are you judging us on the quality of the game was atrocious, virtually every player was out of position but all worked harder, but that don't make it any good, Draw was about fair .
And if we now saying Santos and Teilemans were good in that game. Well I'm speechless.
18 Oct 2026 19:42:21
I think there has been signs of improvement in the last 2 games, we should have won in Madrid. Yoro was brilliant again, as he was in Madrid until the ridiculous red card.
Draw was probably about right on the balance of the game, we deserved to go ahead when we did but 2nd half Leeds pushed hard before their goal. A point at Leeds isn't a bad result in the grand scheme of things, they have had a good start to the season and pushed Arsenal hard last week, but we really need to start winning games as soon as possible.
18 Oct 2026 16:08:04
7 points in 7 games, 13th position, 2 points above the relegation zone. With no striker, no left back, a failed Championship manager in charge, are we now in a relegation battle?
18 Oct 2026 16:16:42
Rinse and repeat Red Man. Stick a few plasters on every year and promise things are gonna get better and then when s*** hits the fan start over again. Carrick should never have got the permanent job but it's not his fault entirely. The people above him are as much out of their depth as he is. Until we are under good hands things will never change.
18 Oct 2026 16:22:37
No, we are not.
No doubt a disappointment to you, as I can see little that would make you happier.
18 Oct 2026 16:28:20
Agree with IWOTB, not in a RB yet, and unlikely to be this season at all as not enough quality in the league to force is down to that level.
At the very least you have Hull, Coventry, Ipswich, palace and Fulham. Hey throw in spurs and we should be fine!
18 Oct 2026 16:33:31
Amad gets the ball, work some space inside. 6 or so players waiting on the box for a cross and he shoots wide. That is who we are. A tragic collection of misfit individualistic who don't work well as a team.
18 Oct 2026 16:38:01
100% we are, i'm not even sure what United can actually do? Its so rotten maybe its doomed to relegation and its exactly what the glazers and rat deserve.
18 Oct 2026 17:05:37
Spurs will finish above us.
Amad was poor today one foot wonder.
No striker
It's going to be a long season and a fight to get top 6
Comes to something when we are happy to come away with a draw.
18 Oct 2026 18:28:38
I'm not sure how u can say that we aren't. 7 points from 7 games. Guff in most of those and struggled against all the teams around us. If u go by name alone then we aren't but this isn't the Manchester United of old so we definitely are. Wonder how long before the board admit that carrick was a mistake, one of many by them?! Next international break? , after Christmas? Or drag it out until near the end of the season and change like spurs did if we r in danger of the drop?! Results and performances are not better than under RA but then again he only got the boot for calling Wilcox out, something carrick will never do.
Really would like to think we will turn it around, I'm just not so sure we will.
18 Oct 2026 18:48:44
Not in a million years. I see this brought up every other year. Pure hyperbole.
It won't happen.
If it ever does, I'll buy everyone on here a pint.
18 Oct 2026 19:44:28
No, just like every other season when people start this nonsense, we are not in a relegation battle after 7 games. We've been unlucky in a few games not to get a result and have had a bad start and there are still 7 teams below us.
We will finish top half, whether we push for top 4/6 who knows, but need to start putting chances away.
18 Oct 2026 22:02:57
Ah we are definitely too good to go down.
Usually one club gets caught up at the bottom, last season it was Spurs. We have a Championship level Manager but yep too good to go down.
19 Oct 2026 00:50:10
Red man,
I’d be willing to bet any money in the world that we don’t go down mate, we get this every year. If you’ve watched the games so far and think we will go down then I don’t know what to say. Results haven’t been good enough, but they will come.
18 Oct 2026 15:57:55
CATW!!
EPL win % 14.3!!
Overall win % 20%!!
Amazing.
I will say, it was refreshing to see some of the changes made, and I think he may even come good.

A few posters have hit the nail on the head for me with this current United set up. They're not the United we used to love anymore. the badge remains the same yes, but the soul and culture of our club has been ripped apart and doesn't represent us as fans and the people of Manchester.
You cannot sack people who've been part of the culture for decades to save a few and expect it to be a great place to work for playing and non playing staff. Everybody left is there for a wage and nothing else. No fight, desire, pride, love.
Clearly this happened to all clubs as they moved towards being corporates, but our decline and lack of identity feels even more stark.
I don't have the solutions or the answers, but this lot I know for sure are not it. i'm at a loss to describe just how much of a mess they've all made of our once great club.
18 Oct 2026 16:20:32
About right Eric. the club is on life support. Totally destroyed by American scum who don't care, its hear breaking watching it all unfold as its us the supporters that have to pick up the pieces.

A Middlesbrough fan on why they saw Michael Carrick's struggles at Manchester United coming:
"When Carrick was at Middlesbrough, he came in mid-season when we were struggling under Chris Wilder. He took over and immediately got the players doing the basics well. He inspired them, and we saw the same at Manchester United.
He made the simple things happen, put the right players in the right positions, and for a while it worked. But once teams figured out his approach, the problems became obvious.
People at Boro had already talked about his inability to adapt. I don't necessarily believe in needing a Plan B, but there are times you have to react to what's happening on the pitch. Carrick doesn't seem capable of that.
Look at his subs. It's like the 62nd minute comes, an alarm goes off on his wrist, and he knows it's time to make a change. But it's always like-for-like—no tactical tweaks, no change in shape, nothing different.
And now we're seeing the same pattern at Manchester United. Did we predict this drop-off? Absolutely. We joked about it when he was doing well and got the permanent deal. Even Boro fans were saying, 'just watch what happens when teams figure him out.'
He's stubborn. He sticks to what he believes in, no matter what others think. His press conferences would sometimes leave Boro fans wondering if he was watching the same game. To the fans, it was obvious something different was needed, but he struggled to adapt.

It's exactly what we see.

{Ed's Note - thefutureisoldgold3 has posted a new article entitled, Wolves Player Ratings v Burnley
17 Oct 2026 12:26:30
Not even dug up the ground for the new stadium and the rats are looking to sell the naming rights, absolutely despite the rat who gave the American rats a lifeline. Worst owners ever, we'll be battling relegation in a new stadium, like tottenham
Maybe you'll know but is there any possibility at all the new stadium doesn't go ahead ed001? Hope to god they sell and the new circus tent plans get binned too.
{Ed001's Note - there are two possibilities for it not happening, from what I can see. The first is that they sell up and new owners don't like the plans, seems unlikely though. Secondly is that the govt funding they want is blocked, as neither the Glazers nor Ineos will want to pay for it fully, even via mortgages, which is how the club is paying its part. The size of the mortgage would just be too much on top of the club's already enormous debt and be at too high an interest cost to make it worth it. Right now it is a way of increasing the club's value ahead of a sale, but without govt funding the value is engulfed by the debt burden. Again it seems unlikely to happen as they can just grease palms until it is done.}
18 Oct 2026 09:04:28
How about if they produce a trashy product on the pitch with no hope of redemption because they continue to not have the funds to compete financially, with the result that the demand for seats drops? Or, in order for it to work they have to price the seats too high? Or, indeed, if the EPL product becomes less valuable for one reason or another? Manchester has been tainted by the City scandal. Who knows the knock on effect. We all know that between now and actually building the damn thing the cost will go up considerably. It always does.
I'll be in an urn by the time it happens.
18 Oct 2026 13:33:33
Thanks ed, hate is a strong word but I truly hate both sets of owners, I hate them from the bottom of my heart, they'veturned us into an absolute joke and as Eric mentions above, the way they'vesacked long serving staff is disgusting, by the British billionaire living in Monaco, he's a person. Their lack of empathy makes me sick, as does their arrogance.
{Ed001's Note - they do not belongat Man Utd. Itis a club for the people. The Rat is even worse than the Glazers.
18 Oct 2026 14:52:11
Agreed, his other sports ventures filled me with no confidence, truly a rat. Used to be angry, now numb and upset at what they've done.
18 Oct 2026 16:27:08
I always said when SJR was incoming with Ineos they would be worse than the glazers and I am not wrong there.
Not a chance in hell this current government helps with the ground, Man City will be the undoing of MrSlippery Manchester Burnham already. so can thank city for something at least.
It's all a total mess and if you just watched the awful quality of play against Leeds we look like a relegation battle team . Spurs will finish above us and they now bottom.
17 Oct 2026 23:47:46
According to sky, Rashford has been playing with an injury. Might explain his ineffectiveness. There were lots of positive comments pre season from the camp about him.
But if it is true then it's stupid to play him. Move Cunha back to that side Mbuemo as the number 9 and play Lacey or Amad on the right.
18 Oct 2026 01:09:08
He had an injury too when he didn't played well the previous time he was with us. Maybe two injuries, the one was about his shoulder and he made a surgery.
This not an excuse, if he carries a problem he should back off and let another player play.
He do us no favour because he is one of the worst players. Then running straight at opponents and in blind spots is never about injuries but what's in his head. Absolutely nothing.
