Hi Ed's, is it true that we've bid £51m for Leny Yoro? Cheers.
{Ed002's Note - Leny Yoro (CB) Lille kiddie who already has PSG, Chelsea and Real Madrid declaring an interest. Manchester City and Manchester United have sent scouts. May have been noticed by Liverpool when scouting another player against Nantes, but no declared interest at this time - regardless of reports saying they will pay €90M plus for him. And Liverpool have preferred CB targets. Lille will resist a sale and continue to work on a new contract unless someone pays significantly over the odds for him - but if a new contract cannot be agreed they will need to reduce their asking price as he moves in to the final year of his contract. Chelsea has a preferred option but Real Madrid may push but knowing the player has made it clear he wants to join them - and that perhaps putting PSG off rather. Lille will ask for a player on loan as part of any deal with Real Madrid or Chelsea - with specific players already discussed.
I am not aware of any offer from Manchester United.}

Hi Ed002, has the club got any interest in Olise? Also I've seen rumours that were looking at Miguel Gutierrez from Girona and Ederson from Atalanta. Any truth in that? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Michael Olise (RW/AM) PSG and Manchester City want him as cover although the departure of Mahrez last summer will mean more opportunities now, but the RW position is effectively Foden's. If de Bruyne or Silva were to depart, he becomes an option again. Crystal Palace has no real interest in selling but know that Chelsea want to take Olise back to Stamford Bridge and Olise has made clear that one day he wants to be playing with his brother. Down the list of AM players Chelsea want but they will again perhaps push for him. His representative has said no other clubs have made an approach for Olise - but maybe Klopp's obsession with Chelsea Academy players will continue as Liverpool have sent scouts - but they will have preferred targets to replace Salah. Manchester United have also sent scouts. Will be available in the summer when a significant release clause will need to be met.
Miguel Gutierrez (LWB) Moved to Girona from Real Madrid who retain a nominal 50% of his rights and can buy him back for a fixed fee of double what they sold him for - so €8M total. Bayern Munich fear losing Alphonso Davies and have Gutierrez as their first choice replacement if that happens. Chelsea have spoken to Girona about the player and both Manchester United and Manchester City have sent scouts.
Ederson (CM) Having a good season and attracting interest from Newcastle, Liverpool and Burnley. Burnley would not be attractive and the situation with Liverpool may well change.}

Thank you Ed002.
09 Mar 2023 22:07:33
Hi Ed002, what is happening with Oshimen? Do we hold an interest? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Yes, Manchester United are one of the interested clubs but the cost is very significant. I do expect him to move this summer.}
1.) 09 Mar 2023 23:34:08
Dream signing…taking him over Kane all day long.
2.) 10 Mar 2023 10:10:04
I think I'm leaning towards Oshimen due to age and athleticism plus Kane tends to drop a bit deeper nowadays to get the ball where Oshimen looks more like a proper number 9 which is what we need.
I am concerned however that he could be similar to Lukaku who looks good in Italy but Premier League is a different. Kane almost guarantees you goals in the Premier League and perhaps could get back to being that number 9 under ETH.
Cost for both will also be a big factor in terms of would you spend £100M on Kane and a huge bulk of the transfer money on a 30 year old or £100M on a 24 year old?
3.) 10 Mar 2023 10:38:17
I think Kane has to go deeper at the moment, since they struggle creating chances.
The thing with Kane is, he could do the no.9 job, but he could also do with Rashford (and our other wings), what he does with Son, meaning we would have more atacking options and it would be easier for us to adapt during the matches, if needed.
4.) 10 Mar 2023 07:09:39
Thanks Ed.
5.) 10 Mar 2023 14:58:36
Him or Ramos.
But is really evident that we are in desperate need of a top class no.9.
6.) 10 Mar 2023 16:48:46
I'd personally have reservations over both Kane and Osimhen for varying reasons.
Kane has had injury issues, will be 30 in July and like a few others have said tends to drop deeper which would have him occupying the same space as Bruno. Signing an aging player for a huge fee on massive wages with a chequered injury record and a question mark over his suitability for the system/ style of play we are trying to play seems like a poor choice. That said, he is EPL proven and will guarantee goals, even if he does end up needing replacing in 2 years time.
Osimhen on the the other hand seems a better tactical fit. Yet he too has a very chequered injury history. I read previously that he hasn't managed to start 7 games in a row in Serie A ever. Which has to be a concern. He would also cost in excess of 100m and be on significant wages. He isn't EPL proven and I wonder whether his form would translate to the EPL. His touch can be loose and he reminds me of Lukaku both in terms of his touch and that for a big guy he doesn't do as well in the air or holding the ball up as you'd expect.
Neither fill me with confidence considering both would cost north of 100m.
7.) 10 Mar 2023 17:00:42
Who would you like to see shappy?
8.) 10 Mar 2023 21:38:56
For me Vlahovic would be the perfect choice.
9.) 11 Mar 2023 07:39:23
Angel, to be honest I don't see many top class strikers available who I think would be the right sort of fit. If you look around Europe at the top strikers Lewandowski and Benzema are still in the conversation despite being in their mid-thirties. You then have players like Haaland and Mbappe who are good ages and playing at an elite level, but they won't be available.
Ideally we'd want to sign a player whose between 22-24 years old and ready to step up to become a world class player. However, the market currently has gone absolutely bonkers.
Given the options available, and what we need to try and do this summer I think we need to be sensible with what we do. Players like Sesko and Ramos look to be future greats, but I wonder big a move to a club our size is a step too soon for them this summer.
Thing is I'm not convinced we need a 25-30 goal a season striker. Those guys are both rare and extremely expensive. Like I said I'm not convinced by the options available.
I think if we bring in the right striker, someone who has the physicality, movement, and technical skills to link the attack together then you'll see a much better spread of goals across all our forwards. If they can be fairly clinical and get 18-20 goals a season themselves then great.
Players like Rashford, Antony, Sancho, Bruno, Garnacho should all be getting 10-20 goals a season each. Rashford will get at least 30 goals across all competitions for us this season (he's on 26 currently) .
Add a further 20-30 goals spread out across the defenders and midfielders and we have goals coming from many sources which is much harder to defend against.
The player I think we should sign this summer perfectly fits the profile of strikers EtH has typically used, is EPL proven, at their peak and would in my opinion slot perfectly into this side with how we are currently set up. That player is Aleksander Mitrovic.
I think he'd be a perfect signing to slot in over the next few season's, during which time the club can scour the market to find the next up and coming young player and bring them in and nurture them rather than paying 100m plus on a player whose had a good season but is still unproven.
10.) 11 Mar 2023 12:18:06
Not sure your final sentence is realistic anymore Shappy, especially with strikers. So many clubs have fantastic scouting networks now, any up and coming young striker will be on the radar of a number of clubs and that striker will want guaranteed game time. Will the club give and up and coming striker the game time they desire? If they don’t they choose another club and the 2 years down the line that club sells them for huge fees. Plus you’ve just said yourself Sesko and Ramos are future greats but a move to the club the size of United might be to soon. So a little contradictory to what your suggesting needs to happen. Ultimately we’d end up just getting players to “slot in” as you say until we find someone, but that move might be to soon so we get another player to “slot in” and the cycle continues.
Liverpool went big on Nunez and they’re starting to get their rewards and in 2 years will probably show he was a good buy. We need to put our money where our mouths are and go get Oshimen, Sesko or Ramos or go get Kane but for me that stops us ever getting one of the other 3.
11.) 11 Mar 2023 15:19:05
Ports, I'm suggesting going for someone like Mitrovic for now, a player who'd suit how EtH likes to play, is EPL proven and hitting his peak. Then in a couple of years time look at someone like Sesko, Ramos or even Evan Ferguson if they have shown they are ready to step up. They might cost 100m two years down the line, but at least they will have shown 2-3 years worth of quality performances rather than a gamble now. Plus in 2-3 years if we have recruited well then we might only need to sign 1 or 2 players at most to improve the team rather than needing to sign 4-5 like we do now. I don't think signing one player for a big fee, especially an untested one makes any sense for us this summer.
12.) 11 Mar 2023 19:52:27
You think those players will still be at clubs we could realistically sign them from in 2-3 years?
13.) 12 Mar 2023 06:08:45
Ports Sesko is moving to RBL this summer, he has only ever played in the Austrian Bundesliga. He isn't tested at a higher level and he would supposedly cost between 60-70m to sign him right now.
No club other than ourselves would pay that much this summer. He'll be there for at least one if not two years before a move. It really depends on whether he can step up. He currently has 11 goals in 30 appearances for RBS, all in Austrian football with no goals in either the UCL or the EL this season when up against tougher opponents. I'd be stunned if he scored more than 18 goals for RBL next season in the German Bundesliga. He just isn't ready to play at the top end of the EPL and regularly contribute goals and assists.
I'd expect he'll be in Germany for at least two years before he moves again and I can't see his fee in two years time being much more than the 60-70m currently being quoted but at least by then he'd have proven himself at a higher level and be more developed as a player.
Goncalo Ramos has had his breakout season in Liga No's with Benfica. The noise coming from Portugal is that Benfica would want a fee equal to his buyout clause to sell this summer. That fee is rumoured to be €120m. Seeing as they dug their heels in with Chelsea over Enzo Fernandez and that in the last couple of transfer windows they have received massive fees for both Enzo Fernandez and Darwin Nunez they really don't need the money. I also don't see many clubs that would be willing to match the €120m fee they are demanding for a player who has had one good season in a traditionally weaker league. The Italian teams cannot afford that fee, Bayern wouldn't pay it, the Spanish clubs don't have that sort of money this summer to spend on one player (although Real Madrid might if that player is called Mbappe), PSG have a stacked forward line and need to spend elsewhere. That leaves English clubs. Liverpool have just spent big on a forward from Benfica, City have Haaland and Alvarez, Chelsea can't keep spending big and need to sell to balance the books but are realistically the only possible competition for him this summer.
If Benfica dig their heels in and demand €120m for him this summer then ourselves and possibly Chelsea (if they can sell a few players) are the only realistically possible destinations. For that reason I'd expect him to stay at Benfica for another season in which time he can prove he isn't a one season wonder and then clubs might feel his €120m reported fee is less of a gamble.
As for Evan Ferguson, he's played less than 20 matched at senior level, Brighton have no need to sell and would demand a high price. Again it is only English clubs that are likely to try and sign him, and none really need to spend big on and inexperienced striker.
I don't see any of the three moving this summer unless we sign them.
14.) 12 Mar 2023 08:46:58
That’s a great analysis Shappy but as per usual you haven’t answered the question and just waffled to try and make your point. You said let them have 2-3 years so I asked will they be at clubs we can realistically sign them from in 2-3 years and you’ve finished by saying the won’t move this summer. But you’ve said Ramos may leave next season when his fee will be higher so we could get him cheaper now or wait until next season and pay more or not get him at all.
You also said we should find the new up and coming young player and nurture them, well let’s do that with 1 or 2 of the players you have named above.
I’m not saying you idea is wrong but it is unrealistic with how football works nowadays. Other clubs will put their hands in their pockets. Chelsea need a number 9, Newcastle need a number 9, I can see Haaland going to Madrid sooner rather than later so they’ll need a Number 9, Tottenham may need to replace Kane.
Every signing you make is a gamble but you can make educated gambles with appropriate research.
15.) 12 Mar 2023 12:13:35
I said that they are unlikely to move this summer, depending on how they do next season they might not even be wanted next summer.
You need to be careful when signing young players who have only had one good season. Luka Jovic is now 24 and doesn't look like he'll ever get to the level everyone thought he would when he was signed by Real Madrid after one good season.
The good thing with football is that there are other good youngsters coming though all the time. Maybe these three get bought up, but there will be young players who'll have breakout seasons next year and the year after and the year after that.
I don't think Ramos will cost more next summer, Benfica are asking for his buyout/ release clause this summer which is a reported €120m. No one will pay more than that next summer as they don't have to. However, if he has another great season next year then maybe that fee is less of a gamble as he has shown he's more than a one season wonder.
I'm not sure Newcastle need a CF, they spent big on Isak last summer and they have Wilson as well. They were well stocked enough to sell Chris Wood in January so I don't see them as contenders for Ramos or other such strikers this summer. I'd imagine they will look at strength in depth in midfield and defence, maybe a winger as well.
{Ed077's Note - I'm a bit surprised none of the posters have mentioned Jonathan David yet. I think he fits quite well between your "unproven" young strikers and the "proven" older strikers. Plus it seems possible to me that he may move this summer. But I don't know if there's much, if any, interest from the club.}
16.) 12 Mar 2023 21:42:03
Ed077, Jonathan David does seem like an ideal option. Seems like he'd fit EtH's technical style of play.
Yet like you say there seems to be very little interest in him from the club.
{Ed077's Note - there seems to be a lot less noise around him than most of the other strikers.

I must say Mainoo was the best player on the pitch today. Absolutely brilliant performance. But also, as I said on the live chat, I hated seeing Rashford on that pitch today. He should be nowhere near our club and I hope he's being put in the shop window before the window closes.
1.) 30 Aug 2026 21:28:11
What did Rashy do wrong in your opinion? He looked ok to me.
2.) 30 Aug 2026 22:39:49
What level of hatred is this, jfc. Get a grip.
3.) 31 Aug 2026 04:55:49
Rashford will always be the scapegoat for the usual bunch, no matter how he plays. Him & Shaw are the go-to, everything's their fault pair this year. Few on here will still bang on about Bruno being sold... There are far more problems in this team than Rashford, that's for sure...
4.) 31 Aug 2026 08:42:11
I've been pretty vocal about not wanting Rashford, but he did work for the team yesterday, which is one of the things that was previously lacking. If he keeps doing that, then it's hard to keep the negativity.
5.) 31 Aug 2026 10:12:41
People on here have a real skewered view on Rashford, but will adore past legends that did much much worse.
6.) 31 Aug 2026 12:40:17
97% Angel, so maybe you are the one with the skewed opinion. No other club wanted him for a snip of a price, so perhaps they share the skewed opinion you speak of.
Carrick's opinion is the only one that matters, he is the manager, so if he picks him then that's all that matters.
I don't like the way he carried himself at all for a very prolonged period. It's up to him to do better, and if he does, then he won't have any issues with most people, myself included.
We have fans that are not happy unless every decision the club makes aligns with their opinion. I don't subscribe to that. I'll support whomever takes the pitch.
There are dozens of players that have played for us that I don't like over the years. It's not a skewed (or skewered, if you like) opinion, it's my opinion. If he does well, everyone is a winner. If he doesn't, it's the player himself and the manager that has to take responsibility.
7.) 31 Aug 2026 12:51:10
So much of it is jealousy, and they don't like that he gets 325k per week reportedly. He lost interest under Erik ten Hag and Ralf Rangnick, but to be fair, most fans lost interest under those two. Mainoo was not busting a gut under Ralf Rangnick either, and he wanted more money, but he appears to be the darling ATM.
It's ridiculous. RedMan even said previously that Carrick should be sacked if he picks Rashford, that's how spiteful people become.
8.) 31 Aug 2026 13:10:04
Redman wanted work permits revoked wants all sorts fired does not want the owners to succeed so in turn can't be happy when the team succeed.
I don't like rashford or the way he handled himself both on and off the pitch for prolonged periods.
Who would be jealous of someone else's earnings that's simply stupid I'm not sure that comes into it at all.
People don't like him for the way he represented them as fans on the pitch i don't blame them at all for that.
But if the manager wants him and plays him that's nothing to do with me so if he plays ill support him and hope he does well.
Like I will martinez as the manager knows more than I do and any opinion I have is irrelevant amd unimportant
9.) 31 Aug 2026 21:21:34
Danny, he's just not a good footballer, and in my opinion he burnt bridges with the club, and the only reason he's playing now is because nobody wanted to pay £25m for him.
I don't care what someone earns, as it's not my money, but once you down tools and have a media campaign against the club (#freedom), there's no way back. Just my opinion, of course.
19 Aug 2026 18:03:11
Hi Ed001, what's your opinion on our midfield signings? (Including Baleba) I think we've got a great balance now and could be looking to the future when Bruno possibly leaves. Thanks.
{Ed001's Note - I think you have signed well and given yourself a good balance as well as good players. I really like Santos and was saying ahead of last season that Chelsea should be looking to build around him. I think they have made a big mistake selling him and that is to your benefit. Tielemans is a good option, he can also cover for Bruno, to allow him a rest if you are leading. Baleba is the only 'worry' and that is only that he might not be able to recover properly from his injuries. If so, then Santos means it is not really an issue, but if he does, then you have an excellent midfield now. It is a huge step forward.}
1.) 21 Aug 2026 14:13:14
Ed001 i remember you rated Baleba very high the season before. If he recovers from his injuries, do you think he can become one of the best dcm ; I think he is more of an 8 with energy.
Also what aspects of his game we must improve; I think the timing of runs is not right, sometimes there is an easy pass but he decides to go past 3 people, with the risk of loosing the ball.
{Ed001's Note - he is not really a DM, like Kante people confuse any player breaking up play with a defensive mid. You have to give these players freedom to roam, their mobility is a big part of their skillset, and you don't make the most of it by restricting them to a DM role. As a central midfielder, he has it all to become one of the better ones, it is mentality that he was lacking most of all last season. The disappointment of the failed move to United added to him clearly still worried about his previous injury hampered him imo. He has the move now and the injury worries will gradually fade as he plays, so he should get back to his best.
You have hit the nail on the head, he is very physical but sometimes he just needs to release the ball and stand back.}
2.) 21 Aug 2026 16:36:14
Exactly my point Ed001, and for me (as i said) he is an 8 with energy. Except last year i saw some games of Brighton, and he was sitting deeper, like an 6, preventing counter attacks and he was really good there also.
Many thanks, i think we have a very good player in our hands but he must improve some aspects.
He is the kind of player that because everything is so easy for him defending-wise and eating opponents alive, he didn't improved the reading of the game as much as he should
01 Sep 2025 18:54:02
I must say we've had a decent window but I feel we're going to come up short again. Our biggest issue is midfield. We probably have the worst central midfielders roster in the league. It's been terrible for years! Almost every attack we have is in transition because we don't have midfielders capable of winning the ball back or controlling a game. This is going to be a long old season I fear and could cost the manager his job. Hopefully this isn't the case but not getting at least one midfielder in this window is the difference between us challenging for Europe and top 10 I reckon.
1.) 01 Sep 2025 19:54:25
Baleba next summer. A great window even without Baleba.
I did say no more outfields only Lammens after the strikeforce was complete.
Baleba
CB
Rwb
A n other mid if Cas/ Ugarte/ Bruno/ Collyer all depart next summer.
2.) 01 Sep 2025 19:18:39
Ridiculous not to bring in at least one midfielder . will come back to haunt us no doubt. Also the young inexperienced keeper could be problematic. but will have to play him given the other 2 options.
3.) 01 Sep 2025 19:29:13
We have done a huge amount in the last 2 windows. CM is clearly a problem. But some of it is because Bruno is playing poorly atm and I do expect him to improve. Mainoo also should have ample opportunity to prove himself. The GK I do think was a bigger priority. Lammens is a risk but what he is really good at is crosses and that's been our biggest problem. If he treats crosses like he's Van Helsing then, regardless of midfield, we'll be much better.
4.) 01 Sep 2025 19:40:15
For me, the biggest issue is the goalkeeper. How many points did keeping errors cost us last season?
I’m not convinced that the lad we signed is the solution either. Young, unproven, and untested. Yes, buying potential is very important, but when defensive stability is the problem, a more experienced keeper is required.
5.) 01 Sep 2025 20:37:47
I think had we moved Anthony, Garnacho and Sancho earlier on in the transfer window, then a move for a CM would have materialised.
I did hope for a last minute loan deal out of nowhere. All in all it has been a good transfer window, given the reluctance if some players to leave.
06 Aug 2025 19:49:40
Ornstein with the Baleba bomba. If we can somehow pull this off it would be a dream window! (Bar a gk) Please let this one happen ?.
1.) 06 Aug 2025 22:12:03
If we signed him as well I don't think anybody could complain this window. A new GK would have been brilliant but we can't have it all.
2.) 06 Aug 2025 22:19:02
Sesko, Baleba and Lammens to end the window with 5-8 departures (even if on deadline day) would be close to our best window ever.
3.) 07 Aug 2025 03:59:05
Close to?
4.) 07 Aug 2025 07:48:33
Let's get there first redseven.
28 Apr 2025 23:29:04
I see us linked with Joan Garcia from Espanyol. Has anyone watched much of him? I've only seen clips but he looks good and still young for a GK.
1.) 29 Apr 2025 06:06:50
Not seen much, I still maintain go for Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. Similar age, better attributes and cheaper cost!
2.) 29 Apr 2025 18:26:52
I expect to get shot down here, but I'd go and sign Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton.
With Amorim the goalkeeper isn't a vital player like they are in Pep's team's.
They need to be a good shot stopper, strong in the air, able to play out from the back with short to medium passes and to not make any mistakes.
They don't need to be Pirlo in gloves or an insane sweeper keeper, ala Neuer.
When I look at our defence I see a lot of young and inexperienced players. Players like Yoro, Dorgu and Heaven. I'm not sure adding a young inexperienced keeper is the best idea. Especially one with no experience of playing in the EPL. Lots of keepers get caught out with the physical nature in the EPL. They look good coming for crosses on the continent where no one can jump in their vicinity. Yet when they have a 6'2 centre forward muscling in under them as the go for the cross they suddenly look a little suspect coming for crosses.
I'm sure players like Garcia and Lammens will probably go on to become better keepers than Ramsdale, but we need a solid keeper who won't drop clangers and who can quickly settle in this league.
Ramsdale has a 12m relegation clause, has experience, he actually did very well at Arsenal. So has big club experience. He wasn't a problem that needed solving at Arsenal, more a case of Arteta wanting a slightly different profile of keeper. A tactical misfit.
He is someone we could sign and be very confident that he'd be an upgrade on Onana and while allowing funds to be focused elsewhere. He is also a very good character to have around in the dressing room, some have even called him a leader.
For me he makes the most sense of any keeper signing this summer, a quick, cheap and easy deal to sort that upgrades a key position. Then maybe the following summer we could look to sign a younger keeper with high potential to challenge Ramsdale.
3.) 29 Apr 2025 19:30:29
Maybe it is Ramsdale and a young option, as we might lose all 3 keepers this summer.
4.) 29 Apr 2025 20:01:31
Ramsdale makes many mistakes but because of who he plays for they go relatively unnoticed, if he played for us it would be very different.
Why did Arsenal let him go? Because he is not good enough!
A big no from me.
5.) 29 Apr 2025 21:34:26
Ramsdale is not good enough. There is a reason he is at Southampton and even mid table teams didn't want him as their first choice keeper.
Makes too many mistakes for a top keeper couldn't organise Southamptons defence and doesn't dominate his penalty area.
6.) 30 Apr 2025 06:36:57
Ramsdale not for me, he was at his level, although you could say we are at that level, but we need to aim higher than these terrible stop gaps, if GK makes no difference to RA system let’s leave clown there. oh wait RA wants a proper keeper even though he don’t pay no attention to keepers!
Save the money RA put a ball boy in there GK not essential in your system!
7.) 30 Apr 2025 10:43:24
I like the look of Verbruggen personally even if for obvious reasons he seems more of an EtH signing.
Costa is the dream but once the likes of City come in we've got no chance.
14 Aug 2024 17:41:40
I'd be happy with Ait-Nouri. Very good player and ready for a step up.
03 Mar 2024 20:08:59
Thank you Ed002.
10 Mar 2023 07:09:39
Thanks Ed.
31 Aug 2026 21:21:34
Danny, he's just not a good footballer, and in my opinion he burnt bridges with the club, and the only reason he's playing now is because nobody wanted to pay £25m for him.

14 Sep 2025 22:15:39
Iraola, Howe, glasner or Emery. Either way Amorim isn't good enough.
02 Jun 2025 21:13:02
I'm still waiting for Nicholas Gaitan ??.
27 Aug 2024 22:21:40
A ball playing controller in midfield should be priority for me.
