He will / should retire. Awful shame because before his break he was excellent. Bad break. Amputation was postulated. Psychological now rather than physical? Weird how he was physically able (and keen) to play for England. But not so for us.

Yes it does show the state we are in, that’s for sure, but he would be way down the list of problems to get rid of, even RA agrees hence wanting him to stay on, so yes sadly he is one of our better performers that are currently in this squad.

Maguire has been better for us due to his size whereby the premier league referee's are allowing more physicality all of a sudden.
I watched a few corners yesterday evening in the champions league and as soon as the goal keeper was impeded/ obstructed, free kick given. No opposition players allowed to stand on the goal line either blockingthe keeper from getting onto his line from in-swinging corners placed under the cross-bar.
We seem to have two-tier refereeing now compared to Europe when it comes to corners, something will need to change if they are to align.

I don't care about conceding 2 if we scorw 5. Our biggest issue has been our inability to score goals. Haaland has as many goals in the league as United, that's pretty damning.
Winning every game 5-2 or 4-1 would suit me just fine.

Zirkzee for me looks like a poor signing we made as he had a release fee and we’d have been fleeced for anyone half decent. He’s tidy enough and links up play I guess but well short of what I look for in this kind of player.

I think he needs time to adapt to the pace of the league. There is a good player there and we should give him time. Playing upfront for united is one of the hardest position given who has played there before and our current front 3 and bruno are not exactly the easiest bunch to play with and all have their weaknesses in terms interlink play. I would give him a season to adjust. Many new players across the league with different teams going through the same thing.

Nothing about what I have seen of Zirkzee suggests there is a player there. I'm fed up of giving players "time to adapt to the league". Haaland scored 36 goals in his first season. Where was his time to adapt?
I'm sorry but Zirkzee is closer to Bebe than a decent striker.

Nothing like writing a player off by November of his first season. A few weeks ago I was reading that Ugarte is terrible and an awful signings, he had hardly played a minute, Zirkzee looks like he has something about him but hasn’t quite been able to make it work, maybe he will be a terrible signings but I’d give him longer than 3 months in a terrible team.
By the way Kurtis the Haaland example is a ridiculous one, for every Haaland there are 10 players taking their time to adapt, you can’t pick the anomaly and say everyone should be like that, it’s not a fair comparison.

You can't be serious if you are using Halaand as a benchmark. Talk about taking the biggest outlier to measure Zirksee against. They bought the top talent from the Bundesliga at a serious cost if you believe some of the agent fess that are mentioned. Guy who scored for fun in CL and Bundesliga.
I think we knew exactly what we are buying, a young striker at a pretty low cost given what strikers go for that he will need time. You hope he hits the ground running but most don't especially coming from other leagues.
Look at Mbeuno who I never paid attention to until last year just as one example. Very indifferent first year 4 goals in 35 games. last year 9 goals and this year already scored 8.
Fan base needs to curb some of their expectations with our recent purchases. We are buying young players from outside the prem who have potential to become great/ excellent players. Its a tough league to go straight in bang them in. Judge him at the end of the season and next year imo.
Chelsea guy Jackson same thing starting to show his capability and will be great player imo.
In our case if you are a striker guys like Rash, Garna, Bruno are so erratic with their decision making its hard for a striker to anticipate what they will do.
I always tell Yorkie when he blows sunshine up his own back side that having giggs, beckham, scholes and even the fullbacks made life easy for them, they knew make the run and the ball would arrive most times on the money.
Our wingers last choice is finding the open guy, its looking to score for themselves.

Nah. Elite strikers do it consistently. Not even close. Again skewed statistics based on a very very low sample rate can make anyone look elite.
If he has the same conversion rate in a few years time, then fair enough.
But don't hold your breath.

I am in no way advocating the departure of Ruben, far from it. I think that perhaps he is the man to make the change we desire.
But just playing devils advocate as a balance.
These are professional football players. I don’t hold too much credence to the fact that they cannot play a system. Yes I agree that they may not be suited to it, but they should be able to conform to it even to a lower standard to players natural to that position.
Similarly Ruben has been in the position for long enough that we should be able to see a semblance of what he is trying to achieve. As yet I have not seen any marked change that indicates that he is fully instilling his wishes on the players. Other than his hard stance on players (which is admirable) there has not been a lot to suggest he can progress beyond this season. Even one coat of white paint on a black wall makes it lighter, even if the s*** still shows through!
However I go along with the sentiment of give him some players that are ready made for his style and see how he goes. Hell, 6 more months of this rubbish will not really matter anyway.

The fact that two teams in 16th and 17th place are in the “Champions’ League is farcical.
It’s losing its prestige in my very humble and old aged opinion and adds to the number of Ganges that so many complain about.
Evolved? I am not so sure.
