Hi Ed002, who is the youngster Manchester United were speaking to yesterday you referenced on the European pages please?

RedRosie

{Ed002's Note - It is the same player I have mentioned before. Isaac Lihadji (RW) kiddie from Marseille who is attracting interest of several sides - had not been interested in joining MU but the club has persisted and has spoken with Marseille to see if something can be done to appease the player and pay compensation.}

Hi Ed002, do you know which attacking targets we are showing interest in at the moment?

RedRosie

{Ed002's Note - It is as I have previously said.}

07 Mar 2019 22:24:30
Ed002 is joao felix well thought of as a player? Can't say I know much about him but would love to get some insight.

RedRosie

{Ed002's Note - Yes he is very well thought of, but the asking price is well beyond unrealistic.}

1.) 08 Mar 2019 18:52:52
I’ve never seen him play either but hear such great things.

Anyone know where he would fit into the team? Competition for Lingard?

2.) 08 Mar 2019 21:11:59
I've seen him a few times. He would be best in a free role either wide or behind the strikers similar to where/ how Lingard plays but with more cutting edge going forward and less work defensively.

However, in no way is this lad ready for the EPL. He makes Angel Gomes look like a bouncer. He needs another couple of years in Portugal to fill out and develop further.

3.) 09 Mar 2019 13:06:57
Thanks mate.

Who remembers a few years back when Ed002 said Chelsea had backed away from interest Griezmann because he talks too much to the media? Looks like he was right, airing his 'decision' tonight. Ridiculous stuff.

RedRosie

1.) 14 Jun 2018 14:53:35
Might be an unpopular opinion, especially with the football traditionalists, but this stuff doesn't bother me at all. It's the way the sport is going, it's the way some American sports have been for a while. What a player does on social media, on TV doesn't affect what he does on the pitch.

He's a massive basketball fan, he's doing what LeBron James did 8 years ago and just as every NBA team would have been better with LBJ every football team would be better with Griezmann.

2.) 14 Jun 2018 16:53:17
Lebron James is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time and is at least in the discussion with Jordan and he was a free agent. If Messi were a free agent right now I'd be fine with it. Griezmann is a very good player who isn't a generational talent - he hasn't earned the ego.

3.) 14 Jun 2018 16:54:10
Seem to recall hazard chose to announce on twitter that he was joining Chelsea and not 1 of the Manchester clubs.

4.) 14 Jun 2018 20:59:21
Griezmann stays.

5.) 14 Jun 2018 21:08:14
Talented player but glad he's staying he's nothing but a self-obsessed dickhead.

6.) 14 Jun 2018 21:10:15
He annoys me tbh a very good player but like the above post touches on not nearly good enough to warrant this kind of nonsense.

7.) 14 Jun 2018 21:49:14
Well after that farce he looks like an ever bigger prick. Glad he's staying.

8.) 14 Jun 2018 22:22:51
Tell us how you really feel though Dave 😂.

Ed001 - talk to me about Gareth Bale, I know he's going to be offered here and is interested in United but are we interested in him? Spurs have first refusal correct? I'd be surprised to see Levy willing to pay what it takes.

RedRosie

{Ed001's Note - previously United were interested but Madrid did not want to sell. I can't see why they would have dropped their interest in him now. Imagine Woodward clinching that signing, it would enable him to ask for so much more when Yanmar want to put United's name on their next tractor.....}

1.) 28 May 2018 09:54:50
Tractors are great for making bales.

{Ed001's Note - oh damn I am gutted I never thought of that one!}

2.) 28 May 2018 10:13:35
Lol DP that is good.

3.) 28 May 2018 11:38:05
BRAVO DANNY!

4.) 28 May 2018 12:41:07
Never understood the snarkiness about sponsorship. No club cna do without it now. Which PL club would turn down money from a tractor company or noodle partner. they might intimate they would and their fans might say they would but they wouldnt. Every club does it.

Money is money. Arsenal signed a sleeve deal for visit rawanda, suppodedly for 30 mill, whilst Rawanda receive foreign aid from UK? How well does that sit with football fans

First club shop not UTD

First club to commercially tour China. not UTD

First club to commercially tour USA . not UTD.

First club to have in house TV channel. not UTD

First club to have shirt sponsorship, ground naming, sleeve sponsorship . not UTD

Most expensive season tickets in PL. not UTD

Most expensive season tickets in old first divison . not UTD. cheaper than Coventry city to name one of 7

Most expensive season tickets in old second division. not UTD.

5.) 28 May 2018 14:54:01
BoyfromBurrenway - I think you are looking at it the wrong way mate for this particular point. Nobody should have a problem with the club making the most of it's brand to gain sponsors.

The problem is when those sponsorship deals come first, ie, tractor sponsor says to the club we will sponsor you for X amount if you sign Bale! Or there are two potential signings, one is more suited to the team, but the other is more financially beneficial sponsorship wise - where do you think we would go?

The sense I get and I assume many others get, is that we would tend to choose money making as a short-term priority. You can get both of course but that is why people can be a bit 'snarky'.

6.) 28 May 2018 16:00:46
Fair point, well made Beast. Its getting harder and harder to seperate business/ football and to a degree celebrity/ entertainment/ showbiz.

I can remember a time when every club had a commercial office or a deal maker. you just never knew who they were. Woodward/ Levy etc etc are high profile figures now, something that doesn't sit well with me.

7.) 28 May 2018 18:14:43
That’s because previously they never really needed and let’s be honest, everyone knew who the chairman was of their own club as well as others.

Let’s also be honest, does anyone have any experience working in a global business negotiating these deals? IF you do, and I for one do too, you’ll know just how hard they are not only to find, but also to get them signed up. I have a lot of respect for Woody, whose sole objective is to make us as profitable as possible as well as negotiate with greedy agents and players every day.

8.) 29 May 2018 07:46:54
Danny that was classic 🤣🤣👍👏.

9.) 29 May 2018 08:03:19
A round of applause from me danny that properly made me chuckle 😂👏.

Hi Ed001 - interested to hear what you think of Onana? I've been watching youtube highlights (as we all know the best way to evaluate a player. ) and he seems confident and comfortable with the ball at his feet which is key these days until tactics inevitably shift as they always do. Huge 'but' coming - the amount of times he would save the ball but knock it back in to a dangerous area was crazy for a 10 minute video. Would be a huge concern to me. He was also guilty of claiming a cross or shot but then letting the ball bounce - another worry for me. Positioning seems good at least. Have you seen much of him?

RedRosie

{Ed001's Note - I think you have picked him up very well from the video to be honest from what I have seen of him. He is suited to playing a high line, good with the ball at his feet and sweeping up, positionally sound but dodgy. He does just parry the ball back into danger, which always worries me. I would put him as second tier, like de Gea now, but of a different type and a type that would suit the way you play much better. So a step up. However, I think there are better options out there in the shape of Maignan.}

1.) 23 Jun 2023 16:47:32
Yes that's probably fair - second tier but offers something we need to allow us to play the way Ten-Hag wants to play I suppose. I think we've discussed Maignan before and are in agreement. What about the kid at Porto? He looks very good - perhaps not as confident with his feet (a few floaters to fullbacks) but looks more commanding than Onana. I am pleased at least that we do seem to have made the decision to move on from De Gea, it's certainly time in my opinion.

2.) 23 Jun 2023 23:00:56
Maignan for me every day of the week. Great shot stopper and comfortable with the ball at his feet. Just what we need.

3.) 23 Jun 2023 23:21:48
I’d take Raya over Onana. Costa is too big a gamble at the price being discussed and we can’t afford that outlay right now.

We all know DDG will sign a new deal whilst we improve more urgent areas like midfield and striker.

We all knew this was a 3 year project for ten Hag - plenty more work and windows to come before he gets the team he wants.

4.) 24 Jun 2023 15:30:19
Speaking of dodgy blooper reels, I saw one along the lines of 'when playing out from the back goes wrong' which featured Brentford and Raya a bit. He's one of the GKs everyone likes right?

28 Sep 2020 10:39:51
Hi Ed002, is it still possible for MUFC to meet the fee that Dortmund want for Sancho in this window or are we now past the point at which Dortmund would accept an offer?

RedRosie

{Ed002's Note - It would be down to Dortmund to decide.}

1.) 28 Sep 2020 11:08:44
Get the feeling that Ed and Matt are going to look very stupid very soon. amateur hour is upon us i think. let's hope they've read the situation correctly!

2.) 28 Sep 2020 11:32:31
I hope they don't accept, the more pressure on Woodward and Judges shoulders the better at this point. And when the team fails this season they will be in the sh it.

{Ed047's Note - I like what you did at the end there Dan! 🤣

10 Jul 2020 10:48:31
We've had Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool fans in here on the windup since we started playing well - they are rattled boys let's keep it up!

RedRosie

1.) 10 Jul 2020 11:32:10
Absolutely, I love it.

2.) 10 Jul 2020 12:46:22
RedRosie That's what I've been saying and I'm loving it, very excited about next season, I'm not saying we are going to be champions but if we keep this form we are getting closer to Liverpool and City, 2 more Bruno signings (quality wise) and we could hit more nerves lol.

3.) 10 Jul 2020 12:47:51
Btw the Amateur one gets it right, He knows the Utd way, good thing we got rid of the "parking the bus" one, I couldn't stand him anymore.

10 Jul 2019 11:46:49
Hi Ed002 - do you think we are going to be stupid enough to price Pogba out of the move away that he wants? I know the papers tend to make figures up but the numbers that are floating about seem astronomical!

RedRosie

{Ed002's Note - I hope so.}

1.) 10 Jul 2019 15:15:11
Ed, I probably understand that you hate or dislike a lot of United fans, and it’s completely fair. But you do genuinely dislike the club as well?

{Ed002's Note - Is this because I told you the truth and de Ligt won’t be joining? Seemingly all of the vegetables are out today embarrassing themselves. Moron.}

2.) 10 Jul 2019 15:15:22
Why do you hope we are stupid enough to price ourselves out of a move then Ed 😂?

{Ed002's Note - Then the moronic fans can celebrate the players they want going elsewhere whilst they get lumbered with players who have zero interest in the club.}

3.) 10 Jul 2019 15:35:46
Spot on Ed. Why keep pogba when we doesn’t want to be here? Cut ties and bring in players who want to fight for the shirt. It’s not rocket science.

4.) 10 Jul 2019 17:19:58
I hope we sell pogba now and draw a line under it, the same with Sanchez, we need to move on and invest in the areas that need it most.

5.) 10 Jul 2019 17:21:31
Seemed a fair and politely expressed question Raghav.

6.) 10 Jul 2019 18:59:23
Should we address posts to @Ed002 or @MinoRaiola?

7.) 10 Jul 2019 19:44:21
I don't! But I also won't be surprised.

8.) 10 Jul 2019 16:30:23
@Ed002

I understand what you mean about not being able to bring in a replacement until he goes and with every day gone in the market it becomes harder to secure a replacement as they won't wait for us and would want to sort out their future.

Was Tielemans a similar case where United didn't push for a move as Pogba hasn't gone yet and he decided to move to Leicester instead of waiting on a United offer?

{Ed002's Note - YT was never going to be moving gto MU.}

9.) 10 Jul 2019 17:17:37
Ed are there any players at Madrid we would be interested in signing I was thinking like the youngsters who don’t get any game time that you might be aware of?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I can think of.}

27 Jun 2019 10:37:12
Morning Ed002 - hypothetical for you. As both Leicester and us are interested in Tielemans is it likely this would affect any discussion with Leicester over Maguire? For example would Leicester push for us to drop our interest in Tielemans if we want to sign Maguire? Or does this sort of thing not happen and clubs treat each transfer separately?

RedRosie

{Ed002's Note - It is not uncommon for clubs to ask other clubs to step back from interest during negotiations but Leicester are not in that position as they don't want to sell Maguire for anything but an excessive figure.}

1.) 27 Jun 2019 11:39:51
Appreciate the response Ed002. Interesting to note.

"And of course the player needs convincing. " - I still struggle to process this - surely sounding out the agent to see if the player actually wants to play for us should be step 1 on the *transfer flow chart (*not a literal chart) . If he's not interested then move on to the next player on the list*! (*hopefully a literal list) .

So essentially we are once again trying to convince a player who doesn't want to join us to join us. Seems like a good plan.

Yes? What I didn't do is engage on the Liverpool page with the opposite opinion (and ignored your 'it would be like' on your earlier comment) because as I said - doesn't bother me.

That's fair enough, it is after all your choice whether or not to engage. I don't take it all that seriously personally, I see daft twitter sports opinions all the time and I just continue living my life when I do.

RedRosie

{Ed001's Note - but then you start them off on here doing the same thing.}

To be honest that's exactly what I'd expect Liverpool fans to do when discussing Man United on a Liverpool forum, if you can't dig at your rivals irrationally in an online community of fellow fans then where can you!

I do like Maignan, was interested before we he moved to Milan but I've not heard of any interest from us this time around.

Striker is exactly as you say, lots of gambles who in all likelihood aren't ready. I fear we are just going to have to swing on one of them because Levy isn't going to give us Kane.

Rice at City or even Arsenal would be hard to see as I think he is such a complete footballer and would be exactly what we want.

RedRosie

{Ed001's Note - I would find it sad and pathetic if they did so. It is the mindset of a spoilt child to make irrational digs on an online forum and a sad indictment of yourself and the world that you think it is normal. This is why I don't waste my time on twitter, it is for saddos who think that is how it should be.}

In a thread about Liverpool's transfers, I'd bring it up every time until he stops doing it to be honest. Really drives home the point. I can't comment on the player, I've not watched enough to know if we've 'missed out' on a good on, but I'll take your word for it as you've usually got good judgment on player quality.

Who do you think we should be after this summer? I personally think Rice should be the top priority followed by a goalscorer. If they can stretch the budget they need to replace that keeper too, he's dreadful.

RedRosie

{Ed001's Note - it would be like Liverpool fans bringing up all your success being based on cheating by Fergie, it is not relevant to a signing thread. Even if it would have meant an excuse to remind you all how Fergie also destroyed you by bringing in the Glazers and destroyed your academy by forcing youngsters to be represented by his son until the best players just went elsewhere to avoid it. Or how you were managed by Mourinho, the biggest cheat in the game. Or how Antony spends his time throwing himself to the floor and so on. It is pointless and irrelevant so why mention it? It just ruins a thread about another subject with a topic that should be kept to its own thread.

Maignan should be the goalkeeper.
You defo need a striker but not sure who. None of them stand out as ideal to be honest. Ferguson looks the best bet but is young and unlikely to be allowed to move this summer. The rest are gambles that don't seem to suit the role Ten Hag looks to play him in. Maybe someone like David could be a useful stop gap signing until Ferguson is available?
I agree on Rice in midfield. Though I fear Citeh may snap him up. I hope not. He would make a huge difference in your midfield and provide cover in defence if needed.}
