I have read that spurs are close to a deal for Reguilon, maybe we did not want him?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 15 Sep 2020 19:07:01
theres talk of a madrid wanting a buyback clause there's no way we should even entertain that idea so for me i'm glad we walked away.
We definitely need a left back tho so hopefully we get telles tbh i would rather have him anyway.

2.) 15 Sep 2020 21:27:56
What is wrong with the buy back clause, just get big Phil Jones to change his name to Reguilon and off he goes to Madrid in a few years time.

09 Sep 2020 10:31:03
Romero up for sale, Chelsea may be interested. Rumours keep on going.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 09 Sep 2020 11:08:48
Romero deserves to be a number 1. If he signed for Chelsea I'd wish him the best of luck. Anyone buying him woild get a very good keeper.

2.) 09 Sep 2020 14:27:36
He's been a class act whenever he has played for us. 39 clean sheets in 61 appearances is exceptional. Wherever he goes he deserves to be first choice and play every week.

3.) 09 Sep 2020 15:17:54
Wish him well. He would walk into 10 teams at least in the PL. Always done his best for us.

4.) 09 Sep 2020 17:13:44
It can’t be easy being a number 2 goalkeeper given the need to be ready at a moments notice. It must be difficult to step onto the pitch and do what needs to be done having sometimes not played for months at a time. Like others, I wish him all the best wherever he goes.

I am a little worried about who we will get to replace him as he’s arguably amongst the very best when it comes to backup keepers. We should be fine next season with Dave and Dean, but I’d be surprised if they’re both still at the club come the close of next summer’s transfer window.

07 Aug 2020 20:01:41
I thought we were interested in TORRES, is this the same one as City have signed? I am seeing the name Pau Torres.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 07 Aug 2020 21:20:35
City signed the winger torres. Pau is a cb.

2.) 08 Aug 2020 20:21:51
So did we want both?

3.) 08 Aug 2020 22:42:35
Neither i'd say.

27 Jul 2020 15:23:34
I'm reading of some sort of swap deal involving Sanchez and Perisic. Any Eds have a clue?

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed002's Note - That would make no sense.}

1.) 28 Jul 2020 04:55:42
Sanchez and skrinier swap makes full sense.

2.) 28 Jul 2020 08:04:53
Not for Inter it doesn’t. We need to get Sanchez off the books as his massive wages are a burden on the club. I doubt we’ll be asking for a large fee (if any fee at all) and will be looking to get rid of him whilst paying him as little as possible. Why would Inter give us one of their best players in exchange for a player who we would probably give away for nothing if push came to shove?

3.) 28 Jul 2020 10:48:05
Do you have any insight here, Ed002?
The press are saying Inter are serious about signing him and he is willing to take a pay cut, but Inter would still need United to help with wages?!
Is that true? Has that ever happened before?

Thanks a lot!

{Ed002's Note - Alexis Sanchez (LW/F) Inter were cooling a little over keeping him but he has agreed to take a significant cut in his financial demands. Inter will look to use players in part exchange which I doubt would suit Manchetser United who will look to a cash sale for a reasonably small amount.}

4.) 28 Jul 2020 23:55:10
Dare I say man utd are taking a sensible view on this one considering they are happy to take a small amount as a fee?

03 Jul 2020 07:55:40
Red Devil Updates have posted a report that BILD are saying Bellingham has signed for Dortmund for €23 million on a 5 year deal.

After seeing this season so far, I think we will beat Chelsea this weekend. The keeper situation is we have better 1st and 2nd choice. How many of a back 5 from Chelsea would you put into our 1st 11? Donny, Pogba and Bruno is as good as what they have and our front 2 is Rashfors, Cavani and Greenwood. Who would our posters swap from Chelsea into United?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 22 Oct 2020 16:13:05
Chelsea have a great squad, what they are struggling slightly with currently is blending all the new signings with the existing players. Which is a danger when you have a big turn over in playing staff.

Mendy looks a very good keeper, while Kepa is the most expensive keeper in history.

In James and Chilwell they have great fullbacks, while Azpiliqueta and Alonso provide experienced cover.

Midfield options of Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante, Mount and Gilmour are solid options.

With forward options of Abraham, Werner, Ziyech, Havertz, Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi are excellent options.

The only area I would say they are weak is at CB. Thiago Silva looks past his best and not suited to the quicker paced EPL at this stage in his career. Rudiger is decent, but injury prone. Zouma and Christensen haven't lived up to their potential sadly, while Tomori looks a talent, but needs a leader alongside him to coach him through games.

Other than CB they look solid all over the pitch.

That said, I still think we have enough to beat them if we get out tactics right and if our players turn up focused and driven.

2.) 22 Oct 2020 18:29:02
Chelsea on paper have a terrifying attack.
We also have attackers who can make a difference with a moment of magic.
So it will be an exciting match that can go either way.

Picking the first XI will be a challenge for Ole as many squad players like Fred, McT, Mata have produced some good performances recently.

3.) 22 Oct 2020 23:43:28
You can buy too many players, and then try to integrate them all and hope that it will work out, I think Chelsea may struggle this season to do a better placing than last, but who knows?

4.) 22 Oct 2020 23:36:59
Their midfield is more dynamic than ours and defensively generally speaking they are as strong. In attack we are fairly equal too. So I think it's whose midfield turns up and down to tactics.

04 Oct 2020 14:24:03
Hope I am not the only one who think Porto can do one? We offer £15 million for a player out of contract next year and they say no, sod them then. They want £22 million. We want £20 million for Mike, Roma offer less. We stick to our numbers like all other teams do.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 04 Oct 2020 14:30:22
Don’t be silly. We should sell our players for peanuts and pay whatever selling sides demand. Did you not get the memo? The board are idiots regardless of what they do.

2.) 04 Oct 2020 14:45:38

We don't want to keep Smalling. Ole doesn't see him as part of our squad at all. He isn't part of our first team. Whereas guys like Telles and Sancho are first team players for their respective sides.

Do you see where the bargaining chips fall at?

3.) 04 Oct 2020 15:44:45
Deependra, from what I have seen Telles wants the move, that's the difference.

4.) 04 Oct 2020 15:49:14
Who cares about the figure we need bodies. Pay whatever it doesn't matter to us the fans. get it done.

5.) 04 Oct 2020 16:14:40
So does Smalling. But if we end up blocking the move for him, he would be stick away from the first team and not contribute much significantly while soaking up sizeable chunck on wages.

On the other hand Telles would still be in the first team for Potto in all likelihood and likely attract interest from other clubs.

But looks like we have agreed the deal for Telles.

Mind you I think if the Roma move for Smailling fails to materialise there would still be 1 or 2 teams struggling defensively right now who would provide us with a solution IMO.

30 Sep 2020 15:43:45
So to get Sancho this season we were told he wanted Champions League Football, we gave him that. Dortmund gave us a price and we refuse to pay it. Next season I think Woodward and Judge will go back for him with a lower offer, one year less on his contract. My concern is based on us and others transfer business, we may not be able to offer Champions League Football next year, Sancho will then go to one of his preferred teams and we are no further forward to addressing our right wing.

Bloody amateur dealings.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 30 Sep 2020 16:27:42
I think we will sign him before next Tuesday 🤷🏼‍♂️.

2.) 30 Sep 2020 16:57:56
If he isn't signed this season when we basically have a free run at him, he won't be signing next season either. By then he's so called preferred choices will be in a much better place financially speaking, While we're still stuck with Twiddle De and Twiddle Dumb conducting our transfer business.

3.) 30 Sep 2020 16:59:51
GDS2, I hope we don't. He does not want United, he is Chelsea or Madrid bound, but seems like another Pogba where he will chase the money. The only way I would sign Sancho if he was to come out in public and say he wants to come to United. If he does not then **** him off.

4.) 30 Sep 2020 17:04:41
You think we will cough up the £120 million. If we do then it kills any further transfer strategy. Every club will know that eventually we will buckle and pay the asking price on deadline day.
I realise that saying we have a transfer strategy is an oxymoron.

5.) 30 Sep 2020 18:04:24
The asking price is €120m which is around £109m.

6.) 30 Sep 2020 22:57:13
I think we will come to a deal with them with some add ons, just my opinion.

16 Sep 2020 17:20:42
I must say that I am getting more and more disgusted with the elite teams of the world. Macclesfield have been given a winding up order for debts of £500,000. Southends case has been adjourned and they could be next. Lower level teams need money pumped down the leagues to survive. What does it matter though, Chelsea spend nearly £200 million on players and we are talking about £90 on one. Too much money at the top table for me.

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed001's Note - so less than 2 weeks' wages for Aubameyang is enough to destroy a club? Sickening.}

1.) 16 Sep 2020 18:13:14
Playing devils advocate but how can teams survive with gates of less than a few thousand?

I think an argument can be made that there are too many professional Clubs in England and that a re-structure of the 4 professional tiers of English football is almost inevitable in the not so distant future.

Macclesfield have an average attendance of under two thousand and unfortunately this just isn't enough to sustain a professional football Club!

Southend have an average gate of just over 6000. Sunderland average a shade over 30 000 and are in the same division. This is the reality of some lower league Clubs. Sadly some of them are just not financially viable and they can't all be saved.

The game will undoubtedly evolve over the next few years and some Clubs will be lost along the way!

2.) 16 Sep 2020 18:16:50
Or one week for Sanchez, greedy sods whne this I hundreds of peoples livelihoods.

3.) 16 Sep 2020 18:57:53
DLIB, they could all continue if the money in the game was spread out a bit more.

4.) 16 Sep 2020 20:01:09
It's true that these smaller clubs cannot realistically survive in such low attendances but with the billions in the game it is a disgrace that money does not filter down to them.

As important is the possibility of small clubs and their supporters to dream and in some cases like Wigan to achieve the seemingly impossible.

Also if the lower leagues do kot exist it lots the influx of players able to break into the game and progress to the higher leagues. That's not beneficial long term for the game in this country.

Maybe in this C.V. era all league clubs and the governing bodies could for once put petty jealousies and self interest aside and work for the common good and bring in a sensible workable set of responsible financial guidelines so that clubs stop spending stupid amounts of money and lower league clubs do not go bust.

5.) 16 Sep 2020 20:09:24
And we had some top level clubs furlough staff. and then spend millions on new players. Ridiculous- the FA must have some sort of provision to bail us clubs out. Sickening is bang on.

{Ed001's Note - it would have made sense if any club in the Prem that furloughed staff were simply banned from bringing in new players this summer. If they can't afford to pay the wages of staff, then they shouldn't be allowed to buy players. Surely that is the kind of thing FFP should be about?}

6.) 16 Sep 2020 21:05:08
The professional game for 92 plus clubs is sustainable as it stands.
Rule changes require creative and intelligent thinking.
Premiership clubs should be allowed partner with clubs in div 3 and div2 and use them as feeder clubs supporting them with players coaching support and financially to some degree. Cutting ties if they achieve championship status.
Players will develop the stars at that level would imorove. Clubs will get the opportunity to develop a sustainable business model.
Until then a transfer spend tax should be in place whereby a % of each fee paid goes into a fund for the lower league clubs to help them stay alive.

7.) 16 Sep 2020 22:37:53
Playing devils advocate even further, if we all supported the clubs where we were born, maybe they’d have more than 1,500 going per week. We are all to blame.

8.) 17 Sep 2020 17:54:32
So what it means is not only can the top level clubs can easily help sustain the lower tier sides, even some of the more experienced players can easily save some clubs from administration/ dissolvation. Essentially a De Gea or a Mohamed Salah could easily help out let alone Man Utd or Man City etc.

Mind you I am not trying to throw shade at the players I mentioned or anyone else actually.

Fred is like a 12 year old in an under 10 team. Can be smart and play the right ball, but knows that he has 10 more seconds against the opposition.

Rd, United don't work on a round hole round peg way of dealing with transfers. The money men look at what a player may be worth to the commercial side. As long as our owners are making money, they do not seem capable of buying the right player. OK some exceptions.
