Morning all

Ed is there anything in the rumours of Utd looking to sign chilwell? I thought we were set at LB with shaw and Williams and investment was better used elsewhere.

Thanks.

Titchmatt89

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach nor of efforts to sell Shaw.}

1.) 13 Jul 2020 08:40:56
I too am a little confused, not by the rumours of selling but as to why people on here see the need for a new left back. Shaw and Williams are well equipped to push each other. And shaw has been playing terrific lately.

2.) 13 Jul 2020 09:01:05
If its a direct swap deal with Shaw. Its ok. any cash we need to pay? Than No.

3.) 13 Jul 2020 09:44:06
Seems like a non story to me.

4.) 13 Jul 2020 10:01:22
If we going to take a Left Back. Rather get the Wigan kid Antonee Robinson and develop him to be our first choice left back. Could move Brandon to the right then.

5.) 13 Jul 2020 10:31:52
Something to fill space in the papers no doubt. can't see Shaw being moved on now he's finally looking like the player we signed.

6.) 13 Jul 2020 11:26:25
If at all we go for a left back, I'd love David Alaba.

7.) 13 Jul 2020 11:31:10
Shaw won't be sold, I think since the restart only DDG has played more league minutes. I could possibly see Shaw moving into a CB role in the future, although I doubt it.

Then we might look for another LB but with Williams doing so well this season and Laird who is more than comfortable at LB hopefully coming through next season along with AWB we have an excellent group of young English full backs for the next few years.

8.) 13 Jul 2020 13:25:23
Lazy journalism and clickbait adding United have an interest in Chilwell when he looks destined to be in an auction between Chelsea and City.

Quite a few players will be resisting putting pen to paper just yet though until all the Champions League places are sorted. (Appreciate nobody can sign until window open but deals take weeks to sort out) .

9.) 13 Jul 2020 16:01:50
I think often United's name gets added so when the player signs for someone else they can write a story about how X team beat us to the signing Y.

10.) 14 Jul 2020 11:33:10
I think Shaw is a better player than Chilwell if I'm honest. Not convinced by that story in the slightest. I'm not holding much hope on seeing shaw back in action this season now tho which is a big set back as he's been excellent for us for a good few months now. Will we see Dalot against palace I wonder?

New breaking in BBC sport of a 75mill fee agreed for lukaku!

A lot of money (not that fees bother me) but a good signing in my eyes! Scored consistently in the prem for a number of years now.

Hope he can just learn to step it up for the big games.

Titchmatt89

1.) 06 Jul 2017 10:15:20
Just read same thing! Quite happy with it.

2.) 06 Jul 2017 10:18:45
Just about to post this, are BBC reliable enough?

3.) 06 Jul 2017 10:19:20
Delighted, proven 20 plus a season EPL striker. Thought he was Chelsea bound, but happy to have been proven wrong. Being reported now that we've ended our interest in Morata.

4.) 06 Jul 2017 10:19:44
Looks like it's happening! Reports that we won't be going in for Morata now. To be fair, Lukaku does seem the better fit for our set up. I would still like us to get a wide player to free up Martial or Rashford as a second striker.

5.) 06 Jul 2017 10:28:26
will there be a deal for rooney to go the other way aswell.

{Ed025's Note - yeah..you have to give us £85m if we take him off your hands mate.. :)

6.) 06 Jul 2017 10:28:29
Talksport saying its false?

7.) 06 Jul 2017 10:37:24
Any chance Chelsea will try and hijack us Ed?

{Ed025's Note - its possible i suppose but highly unlikely mate..

8.) 06 Jul 2017 10:45:50
Ed 25 can you see rooney moving to Everton.

{Ed025's Note - yes mate..

9.) 06 Jul 2017 11:01:39
ed025, honestly, are you happy getting rooney back?

{Ed025's Note - myself no angel, but lots of us are so it is what it is mate, time will tell i suppose and koeman is thought of higher than me.. :)

10.) 06 Jul 2017 11:16:32
That's outrageous ed025, he's only been there a year, and you've been there all your life. Another case of a foreigner's opinion being valued more than an English one.

{Ed025's Note - i know danny..im considering my future mate.. :)

11.) 06 Jul 2017 11:18:08
Not convinced this is a good signing. Yes, he scores goals, but for that kind of money, I would be trying to get a Lewdowski, an all round striker. Can't help but feel that Jose isn't happy with the transfer activity, rocked the boat, and we are going to end up with Lukaku.

12.) 06 Jul 2017 11:18:26
Everton are saying no deal agreed yet.

13.) 06 Jul 2017 11:18:41
at least you know rooney will give you 110% in an everton shirt ed025 as he's a dyed in the wool bluenose, if he gets his fitness up and gets a run of games i can see him doing a job for you.

{Ed025's Note - im not convinced james, will it mean tom davies or lookman put on the back burner?, but i suppose we will see mate..

14.) 06 Jul 2017 11:53:09
Craig Norwood has come out and said it's done. He doesn't normally do that unless he has got a job on at the club lol.

15.) 06 Jul 2017 12:55:16
Wouldn't be surprised to see Morata end up at Chelsea now.

16.) 06 Jul 2017 15:00:59
I wouldn't do this deal. Lukaku will get my full support if he does sign, but I don't think he fits.

17.) 06 Jul 2017 15:11:20
I think Lukaku will be a huge success at the club - he will score more than Ibra did last year and will create more space for our more technical players as he will offer more in behind consequently creating more space.

18.) 06 Jul 2017 16:07:33
Also, I can see Conte preferring Belotti over Morata. Fits Chelsea better.

19.) 06 Jul 2017 16:18:23
I'll be delighted once this deal is finalised and I see him holding the shirt.

He has everything you need as a successful striker in the premier league. He's got pace, power, a good head on his shoulders and most importantly he scores plenty of goals. Will be interesting to see how many he can score with a much better team around him!

Let's just wait till he's pictured next to Jose holding that sweet red shirt!

20.) 06 Jul 2017 16:05:37
Everyone saying we won't be going for Morata now, but we do need to replace both Ibra and Rooney. And we need a wide player, which Morata can do (although a specialist would be much better) . Big Lukaku is a good signing, but do you really think he can fill the boots of 9 and 10?

21.) 06 Jul 2017 18:16:38
Rooney was a bit part player during the second half of the season, and we have plenty of players who can play the number 10 role on the occasions we decide to use it. In other words, Rooney has already been replaced and phased out of the first team.

22.) 06 Jul 2017 18:27:38
Think we replaced Rooney 12 months ago when we bought Mkhitaryan.

23.) 06 Jul 2017 22:08:15
Brilliant signing guaranteed prem goals very happy, hope this goes over the line. Get someone to hold and free up pogba we could mount a serious challenge in my opinion. Hopefully get martial with fire in his belly really rate him when he's on form.

24.) 06 Jul 2017 22:20:00
How long does he get to adjust to the league though that is the question?

25.) 07 Jul 2017 06:46:00
Lol zero time maze. He better hit that ground running.

26.) 07 Jul 2017 07:14:29
Agreed Angel.

27.) 07 Jul 2017 08:06:47
If he gets correct service, he scores 20 premier league goals EASY IMO.

{Ed025's Note - at least mate..

28.) 07 Jul 2017 10:10:30
Ed025 I think its a steal to be honest, 35 million for Lukaku, it's giving you rooney for 40 million that bothers me lol.

Lukaku going to bang in some amount of goals. Yes, not the best 1st touch, andy cole didn't either. But lethal, lethal finisher. Just watched all of his everton goals. How many of them were 1st touch finishes. He doesn't muck about.

{Ed025's Note - give him the service angel and he will get you the goals mate, the big plus is that he wants to be there which was not always the case at everton..

29.) 07 Jul 2017 11:22:30
It feels ominous now ed025. Seeing him training with Pogba, I'd presume an announcement beckons at the weekend due to him being in LA.

I think he saw everton as a stepping stone, unfortunate but feels like that. I do hope he wants to be at United. I can rarely tell these days with the amount of money involved. Gone are the days when Keane, scholes etc. negotiated their own deals, mostly for lesser pay because they wanted to be there.

{Ed025's Note - i think pogba has been a big factor in him wanting united angel they are big mates and will help with his settling in, it will help mino raiola as well because he can bring the wages in a handcart instead of 2 wheelbarrows mate.. :)

30.) 07 Jul 2017 11:48:48
Raiola must be laughing his head off ed025. That cash will fill a few pizza boxes alright!

Incredible how powerful agents have become, sad really.

{Ed025's Note - absolute leeches angel and mino is the greediest of the lot, they are bleeding the game dry mate..

31.) 07 Jul 2017 12:09:32
So what has to happen to change it then ed? Sure FA's have to harder on these people.

I'm a professional musician, I have a manager and a very good lawyer. They do take a decent cut but I tell you, they work extremely hard for it. And to be very honest, not much I can do without them both. I need my manager as his expertise is vital and obviously my lawyer to discuss certain contracts.

But I'm still unsure as to why agents are such a force in today's game.

{Ed025's Note - a 12 gauge shotgun would work for me angel.. :)

32.) 07 Jul 2017 12:48:04
Are you Mick Hucknall in disguise?

33.) 07 Jul 2017 13:20:20
Olly Murs?

34.) 08 Jul 2017 04:06:12
Susan Boyle?

29 Jul 2016 22:11:48
TFM agent has come out and said all reports linking him away from Utd this season are false and he is staying put.

Great news in my opinion.

Titchmatt89

1.) 29 Jul 2016 23:41:22
This guy need looking after, i realy do like him. I like him in the DM position, i think he will be a beast.
Lets give him enough game time to keep him interested in Utd and i think in time we will have one of the best DM in the game.
I would hate to see another Pogba episode.
PS- i can also see him as a box to box player in the future, i think his talent would be wasted in defense, no offense to any defender out there, i was a defender myself.

2.) 30 Jul 2016 05:06:59
Can you imagine maybe 2 years time a midfield dynamic duo of TFM and Pogba?
Scary.

3.) 30 Jul 2016 05:36:30
On TFM -
"His agent, Jonathan Barnett, has hit out at any speculation linking Fosu-Mensah with an Old Trafford exit. "

He told IBTimesUK : "There is no truth in it. These reports are complete rubbish. "

Great news.

4.) 30 Jul 2016 08:17:33
Perth and murph

For some considerable months I have said that TFM looks a beast and believe his best position will be CM and when the PP rumours started said the PP TFM axis in midfield is potentially a great one. It got a few disagrees but I maintain that TFM has potential to be a real beast in midfield, perhaps something we haven't had since the great Roy Keane. TFM has to develop and have the right attitude but from what I have seen he has all the tools.

{Ed001's Note - I think Fosu Mensah is a bit special as well.}

5.) 30 Jul 2016 09:21:11
Thanks Ed

I watched Keane develop at Nottingham Forrest before he went to United, physically TFM has possibly a better physique at the same age. It has to be in his head now, because he is at the age where he has to take the step up, where Keane took the step up and kept stepping up. All too many fail, not because of skill but because of the mental side, I just see TFM in our midfield in front of others we already have, who haven't taken their chance. This next year or two will tell us. I was at the game where PP came on as a sub and you could see his talent. Talents often need to work in combinations, Vieira and Petit, Keane and Scholes, maybe it's way too early but PP and TFM just has me thinking.

6.) 30 Jul 2016 09:49:59
It would be fantastic. A powerful fast skilful midfield duo once again I hope TFM keeps his head down and works hard. He has all the tools to be a class player.

7.) 30 Jul 2016 10:10:12
His contract runs out next season and he's just hired Aidy Ward. I hope we don't see him leave a la Pogba but I get the feeling there's a big cat and mouse game going on at the moment. Hopefully he signs an extension.

8.) 30 Jul 2016 10:47:28
Question about what we would be best scenario for us/ TFM longterm.
1. Stay and get 10 starts, another 10 sub appearances spread between RB/ HM
Or
2. Loan to a Burnley/ Boro/ Newcastle for season playing 30/ 40 games in whatever his preferred position is.
I want him to stay. but not sat on the bench and for me if we end up with Pogba I feel we need to use Carrick as HM.

9.) 30 Jul 2016 11:13:08
If I were him I wouldn't sign a new contract just yet too. He broke out last season under LVG who was fired soon after. In comes Jose with his perceived bad youth record. I'd actually wait till January to see what my prospects in the club are and to see if the new manager rates me or not. I think it's pretty smart of him how he's playing it but he will commit in the end.

10.) 30 Jul 2016 11:28:31
Brad76 - good question.
It's always a hard decision whether he would learn and develop quicker around the likes of Rooney, Malta, Ibra, mickey (Pogba) or develop quicker as himself getting more game time with another team.
My view is that really good players get up to that level by being around the best.
Mourinho also seems to want to keep him around for now.

11.) 30 Jul 2016 17:01:22
I agree with red man, him and Pogba may develop together. And it would be crazy to see another duo in midfield for us who could actually compete with the Scholes/ Keane era! His ability in tracking back and tackling puts him ahead of a few in my eyes, and I think he'd learn a lot from Carrick.

Also TFM loves it here, you can tell from his tweets and Insta, all the young lads at the club seem to have a bond wich is good to see.

12.) 01 Aug 2016 15:06:29
TFM is the new Essien!

28 Dec 2015 13:49:21
Afternoon ed

If my memory is correct we had a bid rejected for Anderson of Lazio at the end of the summer, is there a chance we could return to Lazio with another offer in the Jan window?

Thanks.

Titchmatt89

{Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid had approached Lazio about taking Filipe Anderson as a replacement for Arda Turan but Lazio offered him a new contract which he was happy to agree to. Wolfsburg, Manchester City and Manchester United remain interested but he will not come cheaply.}

1.) 28 Dec 2015 13:57:59
Sorry just seen I repeated a previous question, thanks for the quick reply.

03 May 2015 20:12:10
Sorry if this is deemed to repeat old questions but to any of the Ed have any idea how much we are interested in gundogan, i read that munich and arsenal could be interested but i see he could be a great addition! Also due to his contact running down it makes for a great price on a previously great player that i fully expect to find old form with time on his side

Thanks

Titchmatt89

{Ed004's Note - There is interest in the player who Dortmund confirmed would not be signing a new contract.}

1.) 03 May 2015 20:30:31
Thanks for the quick response Ed! Ill just go with my tried and tested keeping my fingers crossed and see how it goes

With the costs involved in the sancho deal as we all know they are, what are people’s opinions on a depay return instead?

Seems to have matured and improved since leaving us and could come back with a point to prove also with his reported fee being something around 25-30 million euros seems great value.

Titchmatt89

1.) 07 Sep 2020 21:45:31
Doesn’t like to play right wing by all acounts.

2.) 07 Sep 2020 21:56:53
He plays on the left mostly.

3.) 07 Sep 2020 22:01:03
I can see the logic, he has definitely improved since he left but his best positions are left wing or up top and our need is at right wing.

If we are to resign a failed winger it should be zaha.

4.) 07 Sep 2020 22:44:05
Depay is a busted flush. Talented, but not for us. Rather we buy a proper striker than him, or even better someone on the right hand side.

5.) 07 Sep 2020 23:31:46
Memohis going Barcelona isn't he?

6.) 08 Sep 2020 08:46:29
WRD, Koeman wants him, Barcelona have reservations. But they've apparently made contact with his agent so it looks that way.

7.) 08 Sep 2020 11:04:59
Rumour has it that next year there may be a leopard print gold one.

btw it was me that just started that rumour lol 🤣.

8.) 08 Sep 2020 15:14:36
I’d be careful believing all of the rumours of Koeman just wanting to sign loads of Dutch players, remember when we got LVG and the press linked us with every Dutch player going, we didn’t even sign Sneijder, such lazy journalism.

09 Apr 2020 15:30:41
Hi Ed’s

Firstly I hope you and all posters are keeping safe and well.

Ed002 previously you’ve said utd are looking to move Sanchez on. With his wages and form that seems a hard task.

What options do utd have in terms of moving him on as selling him for any sort of fee seems very unrealistic.

Thanks in advance.

Titchmatt89

{Ed002's Note - Alexis Sanchez (LW/F) Inter have cooled over keeping Sanchez and even if they do he needs to agree a significant cut in his financial demands. Regardless Manchester United still want to sell him permanently this summer and will be looking for a club to take him - but that will be very difficult. Fallback would be another loan but Manchester United would likely have to pick up most of his wages.}

1.) 09 Apr 2020 15:58:18
Thanks for the quick response.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome - but it will be a tough one to resolve).

2.) 09 Apr 2020 16:10:18
It’s evident to everyone we’ve dug ourselves a deep hole with him so be interesting to see how we get out of we can.

3.) 09 Apr 2020 16:21:17
The optimist in me sees him play some sort of role as a back up on the left and up front to rashford and martial.

But do you really want someone on such a big contract as a backup, potentially putting other players noses out of joint who feel they are contributing way more than him but are on a fraction of what's he's earning.

4.) 10 Apr 2020 09:22:00
I think hea done, we didn't realise at the time this would be the worst piece of business we have ever done. He has no role with us, but I can't see anyone else buying him either.

5.) 10 Apr 2020 11:57:07
He has looked utterly defeated for the last few years. No confidence, no fight. The edge of his pace and acceleration went, and he just gave up. Don’t see any option other than running his contract down and sending him out on loan while covering most of his wages.

18 Jan 2018 08:20:31
Morning eds

All attention as been purely Sanchez with Utd since the link but do we have any other players we're looking at this window? I would imagine all other will be left till the summer?

Thanks.

Titchmatt89

{Ed002's Note - Ok.}

1.) 19 Jan 2018 11:42:24
Classic ED!

15 Jan 2018 22:16:56
Ed002 I've got it firmly rooted in my head that you said Chelsea weren't in for Sanchez due to the wages required and only Utd and city were played to cover the cost.

I've had a good search and can't find the quote, is this something I've dreamt up or do I remember correctly and just can't search right?

Thanks in advance and additionally thanks for all the Sanchez info to date I think I speak for us all when I say we're very grateful.

Titchmatt89

{Ed002's Note - Ok.}

1.) 15 Jan 2018 22:25:43
Thanks.

06 Jul 2017 11:05:19
With there being so many Spanish reports of the deal with morata being so close is there a chance of getting both to have a new No9 and No10?

I can't really see it happening but it all seemed so close to a signing with morata.

Titchmatt89

{Ed002's Note - Yes, if Manchester United were to pay the asking price - but right now they are not prepared to do that.}

1.) 06 Jul 2017 11:21:19
Wonder if Madrid will drop the asking price now or risk having a player who reportedly was out the door unhappy.

2.) 06 Jul 2017 11:19:10
Hi Ed,
Not sure if you're willing to answer but if United decide not to pursue Morata, will they look to someone else?
ie It looks like Lukaku will happen and as you indicated, United want both, so I'm wondering if it is a matter of definitely bringing in two new strikers (if they can) .

Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - Ibrahimovic and Rooney need replacing and the club is interested in a wide forward. As I have explained, they need these players and have been making the efforts to bring them in. They may decide to wait for Griezmann next summer or to look to someone else. They have been looking at other forwards as you know.}

3.) 06 Jul 2017 11:39:20
Thanks again ed. Much appreciated.

4.) 06 Jul 2017 11:45:44
What do you think guys? Ed002 has hinted that we're still looking at a wide forward (assuming Perisic or wait for Greizmann) but at the same time could well bring in Lukaku and Morata.
If this happens, I wonder how we will play Martial and Rashford. Surely they won't get the game time they need?

5.) 06 Jul 2017 11:50:47
Presume one of them will play wide left.

6.) 06 Jul 2017 11:58:24
I can see Rashford making a lot of sub appearances. I don't think Martial can be trusted to play wide left if we go two up top. It's probably why Perisic/ Greizmann are being looked at as they are much more hard working and provide more defensively which is what Jose likes. If Martial doesn't produce what Jose wants, I can see him being sold eventually.

7.) 06 Jul 2017 12:02:59
Rashford came back to defend a lot last season when playing wide left, can see him playing that position and Martial coming from the bench.

8.) 06 Jul 2017 12:27:09
Just feel they will both lose valuable playing time with these signings if they were to happen.

9.) 06 Jul 2017 12:45:41
Will be plenty of games available in the coming season, everyone should get plenty of gametime.

Fabrizio who seems to always be bang on has reported no fee for Sanchez. Glad to see the club have seen enough sense to just allow the player the move.

The wages saved are like a fee alone for a player his age.

Hopefully the same sense will be taken for players like smalling when reasonable fees are given to us to allow us to move forward.

Ed would it be enough for Utd to loan Sanchez again next season like they have this year and have a team take some of his wages? Not ideal at all but takes so of his wages off the books. Cheers.

Titchmatt89

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United need to be moving players on completely and not paying part of the wages. If Inter cannot replace Icardi, Martinez and Gagliardini with the players they desire theu might be open to keeping Sanchez on loan but obviously will not be paying him €500 per week.}
