Ed I'm hearing that pereira is off to ajax is there any truth in this? Would be a decent move for him imo.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot help you Danny. He certainly has an option elsewhere.}

1.) 31 Aug 2020 10:57:14
Danny of ask the players potential leaving periera and smalling are the 2 that i think will do well. Dalot also if he gets the right move.

2.) 31 Aug 2020 12:05:14
Thanks Ed what option has he got if you don't mind me asking? Ken I agree with you those 3 could all do well with the right move. I'd like us to keep Dalot I like him, better option that tfm, I actually think Dalot will end up being a rw.

{Ed002's Note - Benfica - we have been through that.}

3.) 31 Aug 2020 12:22:01
Sorry Ed I missed that one. Thanks for the info.

25 May 2020 14:08:19
Hi eds, I have read ferran torres will be allowed to leave valencia this window as his contract expires next summer. Do we have an interst in him? And if so do you see a possible move happening? He certainly would fit the profile of a young and hungry player that we seem to be looking at now.

{Ed002's Note - Ferran Torres (RW/LW) considered as a potential Jadon Sancho replacement but likely priced out of a move to Borussia Dortmund - will end up at Real Madrid or Barcelona in all probability at some point. But, if Salah were to depart Liverpool he could well become an option for them but for now that is not the case. The player has made no secret of his desire to join Barcelona. Valencia have a replacement lined up but the €100M asking price for Torres would need to drop to make a transfer anywhere viable this summer. Juventus has enquired after his availability but would need to make sales to fund a move. A third party has suggested to Manchester United that Ferran Torres would be a better option to Jadon Sancho as the deal would be far, far cheaper for them. Valencia has proposed a player plus cash for Torres proposal with another side recently but it is not seen as a good deal by the other side at this time.}

1.) 25 May 2020 15:53:28
Thanks for the response and your insight ed002. I hope we go for him, from what I've seen he's going to be a top class player.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what will happen. Valencia want cash and Barcelona are the preferred destination - but need to raise cash for everything they are looking to do, or trade players.}

2.) 26 May 2020 12:59:03
Ed in your opinion who would be the better option for Utd, torres or sancho?

{Ed002's Note - Ideally both players want to play for other sides - and that for me might be a reason to look elsewhere to find a player that fits and wants to play for Manchester United (or at least doesn't want to play elsewhere). The costs for both players are huge and that itself is going to be a problem - particularly with the demands of Sancho's agent. Although the costs for Sancho may have reduced a little it would be a significant. Sancho would be a lesser risk than Torres.}

3.) 26 May 2020 16:38:46
Ed002, with both players wanting to play for other side's, who do you feel would be a good fit for the RW role at United?

{Ed002's Note - By a long was Federico Chiesa - but it is not going to happen.}

4.) 26 May 2020 19:52:36
Fair enough. Is that because United don't have a strong interest in him or because he is moving elsewhere?

{Ed002's Note - Certainly the first and probably the second.}

5.) 26 May 2020 20:30:55
Good stuff Ed002. Thanks very much.

6.) 29 May 2020 12:42:09
Hi Ed, hope you're well. Would it be remiss of me to ask what is Sanchos preferred destination if he has one?

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea.}

7.) 29 May 2020 13:22:22
Thank you Ed, hope you're doing well.

30 Apr 2020 13:09:24
Hi eds, do we have any interest in havertz? And if so can you see a move happening? A brilliant player already and would fir the profile of player we are looking for imo.

{Ed002's Note - No, none.}

1.) 30 Apr 2020 15:37:06
That's a shame, thanks anyway Ed.

{Ed002's Note - If Manchester were to sell Bruno Fernandes there would be a space in the team.}

2.) 30 Apr 2020 18:10:20
Ed 02 Do you think thstbthey xoikd not gel together?

{Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen.}

3.) 30 Apr 2020 19:20:35
Salford, it's probably more to do with them being similar players who play a similar role within their teams.

Although I think Havertz has shown he can play wide right and even as a CF, positions I don't think are suited to Bruno. Both are best centrally as the club's primary creative option in the final third.

I doubt Havertz will join to sit on the bench. Although it is possible to get two creative midfielders to play together as seen with KDB and Silva at City, you tend to need them to prefer playing on different halve of the pitch. Both Bruno and Havertz play best in the right hand half space.

Although it won't happen Maddison would work better, of Grealish.

But I don't see us lining up with two creative midfielders very often next season unless Pogba stays and gets his head down. Either way no need for Havertz.

4.) 30 Apr 2020 19:21:08
Herein lies the problem. City would have three players capable of rotating that position, yet because Utd have just one, noone else is of interest :D.

5.) 01 May 2020 19:19:42
Agree Spenno. Seems to me that top top players should be able to adapt and play together even if that means one of them has ro play in not necessarily his best position.

I still fear for us creativity wise if Fernandez is injured. I am unsure if Grealish is capable of dominatinf games. That brings me to anotjer point. If someone eg Bayern gets Sane for say £70m and we have to pay anywhere near that figure for Grealish I know whonis gettimg tje bettwr deal and its not Utd. Yes i do know its all paper talk at the moment

Finally does anybody have anybtjoughrs about whetjwr thwy can see Angel Gomez making a breakthrough into the first team anytime soon once we start football again?

Everyone have a safe weekend.

6.) 01 May 2020 19:35:35
Sorry about the missspellings but pop ups block what I am righting.

31 Jul 2019 17:15:47
Hi eds Is there any truth in the rumours we are looking at umtiti?

{Ed002's Note - I am nt aware of any approach by Manchester United.}

1.) 31 Jul 2019 18:30:04
Thanks Ed, if you don't mind me asking do you think he is the type of player we should be looking to sign?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

03 Jun 2019 21:46:52
Eds is there any truth we are looking at the lille keeper Mike Maignan as a possible de gea replacement? Also what do you think the likelyhood de Gea will leave this summer?

{Ed002's Note - (1) Manchester United asked for a price knowning that Lille have identified a replacement already - he is one of a number of players they have done this with. (2) He wants out and I expect the club have decided not to block it.}

1.) 04 Jun 2019 09:17:51
Hi Ed002.
In the earlier update you had said that United had looked into Ahmadou Dia who is one for the future.
So if De Gea is allowed to leave this summer, do you expect United to promote Romero/ Grant/ Henderson as first choice
Or, are they looking for a keeper from top European sides?

{Ed002's Note - I have just answered that MU are looking at GKs.}

2.) 04 Jun 2019 13:40:04
Good decision by the player for not blocking someone that wants out of the club and he has given quite a lot to the club.

3.) 04 Jun 2019 10:50:05
Thanks a lot Ed much appreciated.

4.) 04 Jun 2019 12:01:50
Is the interest in Maddison genuine Ed?

{Ed002's Note - There is plenty of interest from clubs but I doubt Leicester will sell at anything less than a ridiculous fee.}

5.) 04 Jun 2019 10:15:01
Sorry Ed. I thought you would namelist more GK targets.

Looks like this will be one of United's biggest ever rebuild in recent history.
Integrating the new players will be key aspect next season.

{Ed002's Note - Jasper Cillessen (G)
Ahmadou Dia (G) one for the future - there has been a meeting but nothing came of it
Berke Ozer (G) one for the future
Kaylor Navas (G) now available but heading elsewhere
Andre Onana (G) will challenge Barcelona for a deal
Gianluigi Donnarumma (G) €75M asking price is seen as excessive

6.) 04 Jun 2019 18:04:14
Thanks Ed :)
Donnarumma would be my personal choice out of the above list.
But it will be a huge task replacing someone of the caliber of De Gea.

{Ed002's Note - He nearly moved to England last year but it was called off - I am not sure that a loss risky option might not be best. Or MU may opt to block de Gea leaving and wait until next year.}

7.) 04 Jun 2019 21:34:34
Hi TRD,
Donnarumma isn’t the keeper we need at all, not unless OLG wants a poor shot stopped who is decent with distribution. Check out my recent post re: GKs United should consider if De Gea goes, there are far better options.

8.) 04 Jun 2019 19:35:02
Interesting to read that we will challenge to sign Onana if I’ve read that right.

{Ed002's Note - I think he would be the pick.}

9.) 05 Jun 2019 04:34:39
KG.
I believe at just 20, Donnarumma has massive scope for improvement
and at 6 foot 5, he will be well suited to the physical demands of English football.

Good win against a difficult side. Sends us top in January for the 1st time since fergie. Credit to ole and the boys for turning the season around. Surely even the biggest critics can see the progress and maybe lay off ole a bit. Tough game coming up Sunday, but have faith. GGMU.

25 Dec 2020 00:01:58
I hope you all have a great Christmas with your loved ones, I know it won't be the normal with the world as it is at the minute, but just embrace it. Life could be worse you could be an arsenal fan 😉😂.

{Ed047's Note - hey it’s supposed to be the season of goodwill! 🤣🤣

Have a great one Danny!

15 Oct 2020 13:24:29
Is anyone going to pay to watch us play this weekend? £15 seems quite steep for a single game.

1.) 15 Oct 2020 13:33:30
a lot of the newcastle fans have said they are going to give the fee to food banks. good on them.

2.) 15 Oct 2020 13:49:15
Do you think that's because Newcastle fans don't think we're worth watching 😂.

3.) 15 Oct 2020 13:57:12
I paid to watch the whole season, but that's my part of the world.

4.) 15 Oct 2020 14:07:30
I think this will just push more people to streaming.

5.) 15 Oct 2020 15:30:25
It is very expensive. I understand that football clubs are losing money, but surely this highlights the real issue. overpaid football players. Make them take a paycut so we can watch it all for free.

6.) 15 Oct 2020 16:52:32
I'll be watching.

7.) 15 Oct 2020 17:55:49
Do you get a free stream if you have a season ticket?

8.) 15 Oct 2020 19:31:50
probably saving there money for decent opposition shappy.

9.) 15 Oct 2020 19:51:37
I'm torn between wanting to support my team but not wanting to continue to fill the owners pockets.

10.) 15 Oct 2020 20:23:31
I’ll be paying, streaming not for me, hate the delay and messing about, on my tv in HD will do me just fine.

11.) 15 Oct 2020 20:59:21
I will be watching but i am poor so will be exploring other avenues to view the game.

12.) 15 Oct 2020 21:41:07
I think it's a rip off and I'm torn. I do want to watch the game but 15 quid per game on top of the 50 odd quid I pay for sky and bt is a joke. If we pay it to watch it's only a matter of time before all our games are ppv, so kind of think fans should boycott it and take a stand and say no. I get some don't mind paying it because 15 quid isn't a lot to them. But say we play 6 games a month, 15 quid a pop that's £90 a month. That's a lot of money.

13.) 15 Oct 2020 22:10:48
I agree with Danny and wouldn't go anywhere near paying for this. Match will be available on hesgoal.com for those that wish to watch the match.

14.) 15 Oct 2020 22:49:14
Danny,

That isn’t on the cards though, there are games on tv this weekend, our game wouldn’t be normally so it’s an added bonus for me that we can pay and watch it. Annoying that it’s £15 but doesn’t bother me too much, saving a lot on my season ticket as it is. Maybe I’m the problem.

15.) 15 Oct 2020 22:51:23
Absolute farce the £15 charge. The subscription for sports channels is already so high. At least provide season ticket holders with some sort of way to the matches for free. I hope the club looks to partly reimburse season ticket holders also. I can afford to pay it no problem but won’t be. I’ve heard Navscore is a good app. If you can mirror your device to your tv then even better guys. I can’t imagine many people paying for the matches. I wonder if they will release stats on how many people order this weekend. Maybe better off going to a pub if you can also.

16.) 15 Oct 2020 23:04:30
No won’t be putting any more cash into this.

17.) 15 Oct 2020 23:05:43
I think the fee is ott. It can be seen as opportunistic or it can be seen as an optional extra.
Personally i don't like the timing but it won't stop me watching.

18.) 16 Oct 2020 07:35:43
Simple decision in my household, the match clashes with the beginning of Strictly, not a chance my wife will be letting me anywhere near the TV.

19.) 16 Oct 2020 12:59:31
Do you have to subscribe to sky as well or can you just pay the fifteen quid?

20.) 16 Oct 2020 18:34:06
Manc man I'm sure there are ways without a subscription, its money and that's all sky and bt care about, they will make sure you can so they profit. Maybe now tv or one of their apps.

21.) 16 Oct 2020 19:24:00
Danny. Their business like lots of others is there to maximise profits.
You talk like that's evil.

22.) 17 Oct 2020 13:30:33
It's a business, and I've no issue with that. But consumers will dictate how successful that business is. If everyone pays for it, they'll see a market for it further down the line. If you don't pay, they might reconsider the next time. I'm working so it's irrelevant to me. Really don't know if I'd pay it or not.

23.) 17 Oct 2020 14:01:55
GDS2. The matches selected to be PPV will be the ones that decision makers think will bring in the most revenue. Given the size of our fan base I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see our games selected for PPV more often than others’.

Part of me wonders whether the PPV system might be better in the long run though. While I was still in the UK I was spending £50+ a month on television packages. I watched other stuff just because I was paying for it, but the main reason that I paid the money was for the 2 or 3 United games a month - and I’d occasionally have to miss one of those because of prior engagements or work. Had I been watching on PPV at £15 I’d likely have spent far less. If the price dropped to £7.50-£10 a match (which it may well do if the initial uptake is poor), I think it’d be a very viable alternative to traditional subscription models moving forwards. Whether Sky would let it happen is another story though.

22 Jul 2019 19:10:04
Eds I see nicky butt has been appointed Head of first team development. Does this mean the club are making changes to the structure of the management? Like for instance bringing in a director of football or something similar imminently? And if so do you think it will be an ex player or somebody close to the club?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what they are up to I am afraid.}

1.) 22 Jul 2019 19:18:23
No worries. Thanks anyway.

2.) 22 Jul 2019 20:50:01
He’s there to help youngsters transition into the first team. He’s done a good job imo and it looks a sensible move.

I hate to go against the grain on here but I like the type of players we are targeting and it looks like sensible moves are being made, at least from the outside looking in.

We will bring in at least two more players, ship out a few closer to deadline day and I think we will start the season with a good, young squad.

3.) 22 Jul 2019 21:49:27
Even when we look like we are changing philosophy and going against what we have done for the past 6 years we still get portrayed as not having any direction

Fingers crossed wazza and its Maguire and bruno.

4.) 22 Jul 2019 21:51:55
im with you wazza.

5.) 22 Jul 2019 21:59:27
Timming of appointment suggests it's done to deflect our minds from a bad transfer window .

6.) 22 Jul 2019 22:12:08
Neil I’m not sure if you are fishing but the casual fan will likely not be aware of this promotion, if it is that. I very much doubt the club are playing mind games by changing Nicky Butt’s job title.

7.) 22 Jul 2019 22:55:26
I am lost, Head of First team development, no idea why that is seen as a key role. Youth transition to the first team has been happening for circa 70 years, so why does it now need a specialist position. It sounds like a specialist position rather than what is actually needed, a DOF to restructure the club.

8.) 23 Jul 2019 05:40:24
Agree Wazza, the players we are linked to seems like we have a strategy.
Ed002 also said previously that the club will look to improve.
Maybe something positive is happening behind the scenes?

18 Jul 2019 18:58:16
Not a rumour but has the unlike button been removed?

{Ed002's Note - Only for posters who abused it.}

1.) 18 Jul 2019 21:09:42
erm so some can see it and some cant?

2.) 18 Jul 2019 21:39:52
So what have I done to have it removed?
Can't think of anything.

3.) 18 Jul 2019 22:25:04
But Ed, I also don't think I abused the dis/ unlike button but erm, I may have been trigger-happy 🙌🏽🤣.

4.) 18 Jul 2019 22:28:09
I think Ed002 might have caught a few fish there. 😅.

5.) 18 Jul 2019 23:38:12
😂 wow some people will believe anything.

6.) 18 Jul 2019 23:50:35
I've unliked all the above comments. 👎.

{Ed033's Note - Ah, we've caught the unliker. Book 'em, Danno! :)

7.) 19 Jul 2019 07:16:48
Haha hook and line 🐟.

Sancho would have no problem in England imo, but I don't think he's the right player for us and if he doesn't hit the ground running the pressure from the media will weigh heavy on him.

I really like neto he will be a top player for years to come, if we were to spend decent money on a winger I don't think we should look past him.

I watch a lot of wolves as they were my grandads team and he impresses me more everytime I see him play. Its only a matter of time before he get a move to a top team.

Maybe it's just he young and needs time to develop further. A loan would be the best thing for him, he won't be getting much game time with us and he can go away and show what he can do. It's a win win really, he goes and plays football and we can see just how good he really is.

The only thing I can see bale tearing up is the green on the 18th hole. He will most likely be injured for a large part of the season. He has had a lot of muscle injuries over the past few years and he is a pace and power player. Kinda reminds me of Owen.

60 Mill and lingard for rice would be a decent deal for us. Lingard is surplus to requirements or he wouldn't be loaned. I was unsure about rice but he is a leader and does a decent job at cdm. I would like ndidi over him tho, I think with him and a fluid forward we could challenge for some silverware.

Shappy I don't see one player getting 30+ assists it will be a combination from the team, rashford, greenwood, Bruno, Shaw and wan bissaka are more than capable of chipping in with 5 or more each.

I think cavani has shown when we have a focal point in attack then we are a lot more dangerous, if we had a striker who was attacking balls in the box then we're bound to score more goals. At the moment we either have nobody in the box or its very static, if we had a target the ball would come in more often and we would score more goals as a result.

I'd argue that a striker is one of the top priorities for us. As the old saying goes goals win games. If we had a striker who could score 30+ league goals we would be in with a shout for the title.
