Hey, was wondering if any of the Eds know if there is anything in the reports in Italy that we have made an offer for Milenkovic?

Ozzy

{Ed004's Note - Im not sure but Di Marzio is usually very reliable and we have been interested in the player before}

1.) 11 Jul 2019 00:20:58
Just looked into it. The original reports misinterpreted what he actually said. He said we enquired 2 days ago and last made an offer in January (€40m) which didn’t meet Fiorentina’s valuation (€50m) . I’d expect the valuation has gone up since then but we wouldn’t enquire if we weren’t willing to increase our previous offer. Fingers crossed let’s see where this goes.

2.) 11 Jul 2019 07:05:37
He'd be a better and cheaper option to Maguire, IMO. Second choice to KK but believe that he is still in talks with another club? . Would also be twice the price. i'm with you, Ozzy. Fingers crossed.

3.) 11 Jul 2019 07:17:42
At 6ft5, he will be a huge presence in the backline.

4.) 11 Jul 2019 07:48:10
Itd be a great signing. Much better player than maguire.

5.) 11 Jul 2019 08:07:22
Ed002 on the ball again, confirmed our interest in the player way back.

6.) 11 Jul 2019 10:19:09
I hope we stay clear of Maggy and go fr either Nikola or Dias.

7.) 11 Jul 2019 13:34:37
Just a quick thought. A lot of the very quickest attackers are not so tall and have a low centre of gravity. How well woukd a six foot five defender cope.

8.) 11 Jul 2019 13:56:44
Koulibaly 6'5", Van Dijk 6'4", they seem to cope .

9.) 11 Jul 2019 14:59:28
Koulibaly gets turned pretty easily by fast paced smaller players. Van Dyke is pretty quick but even he finds it awkward against nimble players. That said I would love him in our team and he is I think the exception rather than the norm for players of his stature.

10.) 12 Jul 2019 05:48:41
Lindelof will take care of the little guys 😊.

02 Jul 2019 08:24:49
Hi Eds, reports in Croatia are suggesting we've offered €40m for Dani Olmo. Have you heard of any interest from us in the player? Thanks in advance.

Ozzy

{Ed002's Note - Please see previous answer.}

1.) 02 Jul 2019 15:14:44
I don't see any club offering a croation team 40m.

23 May 2019 20:41:33
Quick question, was wondering if any of the eds have heard anything on our reported interest in the Pedro of Fluminense? Thanks in advance.

Ozzy

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath with interest from elsewhere.}

1.) 24 May 2019 00:39:51
Thanks ed, assuming the interest is from Real Madrid? I’ve read they apparently had a provisional agreement to sign him last year before a knee injury scuppered the deal.

{Ed002's Note - I can name four sides who have a decalared interest and have spoken with his club.}

2.) 24 May 2019 03:50:03
Ed please share in sight. why we are always second or third choice when it comes from buying young talents from Brazil and Argentina? If we target them, it's via other European league.

{Ed002's Note - Culture, food, unattractive part of the country, scouting not a priority etc..}

3.) 24 May 2019 12:34:22
I'm not too fussed. Every Argentinian or Brazilian we've signed has flopped. I'd prefer to avoid south Americans in general.

4.) 24 May 2019 11:45:03
Ed I guess work permits are also an issue with signing Young South American players?

{Ed002's Note - No more so than they are for other clubs, but yes, players need work permits.}

5.) 24 May 2019 13:33:13
Rafael was decent.

6.) 24 May 2019 13:43:13
Heinze was not bad as well.
I believe he won player of the year in his first season.

7.) 24 May 2019 14:01:04
Ed002

Why do you think the North West is so bad?

I share my time between London and Manchester offices and manage partners over all of Europe, I would prefer to live in the North over most of the places I go. London is dirtiest, more homeless, more drug addicts, more crime, more knife attacks, more terrorism.

Barcelona, Madrid, Nice, Paris, Amsterdam, Nordics are all decent and Germany is good, I get the draw but London nope.

Cheshire is nicer than Surrey and just as pretentious. The only advantage I see is flights.

I must say out of all the places work takes me Milan is the biggest dump - parts of that place makes Atherton look nice!

{Ed002's Note - Clearly you work in the roughest parts of London and you seem to know very little of the other cities you mention.}

8.) 24 May 2019 15:38:52
They are all much of a muchness all these cities. There's the touristy bits, the nice residential parts and holes. Personally I don't care for London I prefer Manchester or Liverpool or Newcastle but that's personal preference. I know people who love London.

9.) 24 May 2019 16:22:57
Mort that's not quite true, Heinze did well and Romero has never let us down. But I do agree that more often than not they have failed to live up to the hype.

Personally I feel we always do better with Northern European's, Scandinavians and Eastern block. I feel they seem to settle into life in northern England better than those from a Latin background.

10.) 24 May 2019 17:49:42
Heinze, Rafael, Tevez all did very well for us.

Veron was ok but hard to dislodge Keane and Scholes.

11.) 24 May 2019 19:04:14
Utd road, this must be a different London to the one I live in.

12.) 24 May 2019 19:10:56
The Manchester I live in is a lot different to the one Ed often talks about as well so maybe people are just looking at different parts of the city.

{Ed002's Note - New Hampshire?}

20 Dec 2018 11:03:05
Hi Ed002, you mention efforts are still being made to move Pogba to another club and having looked through the european pages I see you have previously mentioned Barcelona have shown interest and will try and include a player in any move with Ousmane Dembele being one player they could look to use in a deal for another player.

Are Barcelona still interested in Pogba and do you think either club could try to involve Dembele in the deal? Thanks in advance.

Ozzy

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United made it clear that they are not interested in part exchange deals. Efforts continue to be made to move Pogba to Spain but there is interest from Italy where Juventus would also want to include a payer in the deal. Manchester Uniuted has an interest in Costa but will still try and keep things separate. They would be open to including Pjanic but taht was a JM pick.}

1.) 20 Dec 2018 11:25:28
Thanks for the quick reply. We are desperate for a RW and I rate Costa even with his attitude worries. Also Pjanic for me would be th best possible replacement for Matic at the base of our midfield although I doubt he would be interested in coming here at the moment.

2.) 20 Dec 2018 12:03:37
So you wouldn't mind swapping one toxic player for another? And what would that achieve?

3.) 20 Dec 2018 12:43:51
FZZ - I really can’t imagine any other player as poisonous as Pogba. Sure it’s a risk but one worth taking. The club has dealt with big personalities in the past, Pogba though is far too much to handle, not to mention his performances have been nothing short of terrible all season, he hasn’t put in a single standout performance for us since City last season.

Straight swap for Costa and Pjanic, it’s totally unrealistic but it would solve the RW problem and strengthen midfield.

4.) 20 Dec 2018 13:42:31
Not Pogbas biggest fan at the moment, but scanning google i don't remember him spitting and bullying another professional that is getting the better of him during a game.

5.) 20 Dec 2018 15:20:38
FZZ, I don’t actually want Pogba sold, I’m basing this on Ed saying the club still want to offload him. I think Pogba’s attitude issues were mostly of Mourinho’s doing because when we were doing well they had a great relationship and Deschamps has repeatedly praised Pogba’s attitude.

6.) 20 Dec 2018 15:59:12
Thats fine, but he's not what i'm referring to either. i'm referring to a bit of a **** bag tbh and it fits that no one else wants him except us.

7.) 20 Dec 2018 16:30:36
I understand not swapping one toxic for another, however if hand was forced at least Costa is a lot cheaper toxic.

8.) 20 Dec 2018 18:14:22
Unbelievable no wonder Ed002 doesn't give info on here anymore.

9.) 20 Dec 2018 18:35:24
What are you on about?! There’s nothing wrong with this discussion and it has no resemblance to the reasons Ed002 has for not posting. This is just people commenting their opinion on different players, if you can’t handle that then go on a different page.

10.) 20 Dec 2018 18:47:37
At least we will still support the team even in league two though, right ;)

11.) 20 Dec 2018 19:57:34
Sepp are we getting relegated from the premier league, missing out the championship and League 1, straight to league 2?

Don't think we're that bad.

12.) 23 Dec 2018 08:07:09
@FZZ

You're right about that. Lots of fans have been poisoned on Pogba's issue. Mourinho knew that he was getting found out and divided the fan base.

Furthermore the Pogba hate has to do with much more than his attitude but a narrative which has been pushed on by loads of pundits (ardent ones of which are scouse) that Pogba is overrated, publicity Whore, arrogant and disrespectful. Which in all entirety is false but of course we know why players like that are bashed.

Highly hypocritical that same people hyping luxury players as geniuses are attacking a player who gives in more effort for the team.

It has gotten to a stage where his performances are judged by distance covered or number of balls lost (not a fair matric for a risk-taker) .

Look at the whole media execution and brouhaha he faced due to the image posted for an Adidas event. Even if Pogba put up the smirking picture by himself (which his media team took claim), or it was just his picture taken at a personal function (which wasn't as obviously it was an Adidas event), he deserved benefit of doubt or a fair hearing but all you man were up on your high horses taking aim at him.

Alexis drives into Carrington listening to "I'm free, I'm free" and not an eyelid was batted. I didn't hear Gary Neville, Roy Keane or any scouse ****. er on that.

I come on here but no furore nothing for Saint white Sanchez from all the guys here labeling Pogba as toxic. Its funny that the only person who thinks he is is Mourinho and some people for whatever reason (his former coach at Juventus didn't, his national coach doesn't, hell eve Fergie said the agent was the problem not the lad) .

If Pogba had put up that video.

There is a bias for certain people but the most annoying thing is how we allowed Mourinho to pull wool over our eyes, divide our hearts from the team and turn us against our players and selves.

The same Mourinho who always spoke about himself, his victories, his titles, whenever we lost. The same man who refused to evolve his obsolete game yet attacked the ability and integrity of his players publicly in the media, The same Mourinho who didn't know the word "we" and who looked you in the eye and told you that your club has no football heritage.

If it were Mourinho, yesterday wouldn't see us attacking from onset (we always sit back and allow our opponents build their rhythm and tempo) .

If it were Mourinho yesterday, you would never have dreamt of us exhibiting the high press.

If it were Mourinho yesterday at 2 - 1, we would have gone defensive and tried to protect the lead only to capitulate at death.

If it were Mourinho yesterday, it would beeen have been a rigid formation with our fullbacks both not bombing up.

If it were Mourinho yesterday, it would be Matic and Fellaini not one for the other.

If it were Mourinho yesterday, our players will have no confidence and pleasure to play with delight, exuberance and joy.

He had already had a fight with Valencia over a trivial social media issue, with Bailly over a negligible issue, with Sanchez over how the game is played, with Shaw countless times even the week before he was sacked that's why he didn't play him. Of course they had to split with Pogba because he stood up to him about the style of play and how the players aren't enjoying it.

I don't care what anyone says, I'm old enough to make judgement, I have vast experience in civil service and man management. You can't frustrate your workers, make the job as boring and as detestable as you can, slate and castigate them in public (both their colleagues, rivals, families and whole world) then expect them to run into a brick wall for you. Ever a dictator will not get that loyalty nowadays.

I'm not saying wet have suddenly turned a corner - we'll definitely lose some but we'll play beautiful game with first intent on winning not defending.

We're being linked with Ivan Perisic again. I wanted him last summer and would still like him now, he's an old fashioned winger and I think that's exactly what we need. Ed002 are you aware of the clubs still holding any interest in him?

Ozzy

{Ed002's Note - He remains an option.}

1.) 13 Jul 2018 10:23:22
Why not. we don't have option on left. but we are full on right.

2.) 14 Jul 2018 15:38:30
You must watch your football matches in a mirror 😂.

25 Sep 2020 09:14:04
Hi Eds, now that Filip Stevanovic has turned 18 do you expect a deal for him to be completed before the end of the transfer window? Thanks in advance.

Ozzy

{Ed002's Note - The plan is that he will be transferred before the end of the window.}

1.) 25 Sep 2020 13:40:36
Does he play left wing or right wing? If he's a right winger then we wait for him to step into the first team next season. No need for spending £120m on Sancho. If he is the real deal then that makes a lot of sense to me.

No doubt someone will tell me he is a left winger and we still need a right winger tho.

2.) 25 Sep 2020 13:43:38
He is only a child mancman. Be ridiculous to put him straight in.

3.) 25 Sep 2020 12:38:46
I really hope we get this transfer wrapped up. He looks a top young talent.

Ed002, is the intention to loan him back out or keep him with the club if/ when he signs? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - I really don’t know.

4.) 25 Sep 2020 13:42:58
Thanks Ed002, you are so clever at giving little away!

Don’t suppose you could reveal where he might be transferred to please, or who’s he likely to sign for?

He seems a real future talent.

5.) 25 Sep 2020 14:38:49
All these kids look amazing on Youtube in awful leagues.
When I play five a side, there are always a few kids who rinse everyone. Until they come up again the 6ft+ seasoned defenders who brush them aside like ants.

6.) 25 Sep 2020 14:39:47
MancMan, he plays predominantly on the left, although is capable of playing on the right. Fairly two footed, great technique.

He turns 18 today, which would make him older at the start of this season than Greenwood was at the start of last season (albeit by a month or so) . However, he is unlikely to ready for the first team this year. If he joins the club I can see him staying with the first team this year to settle down in England, get used to English football with our players and our coaches around him. Probably playing most of his football in the under 23's with a few chances in the league and FA cup most likely. Then depending on how he does he'll either stay with the first team next season or head out on loan to play regular football.
Or he could be loaned back out Partizan for the rest of this season.

7.) 25 Sep 2020 15:52:40
Spenno, Stevanovic has made 50 appearances and scored 10 goals for Partizan, playing in a eastern European league which produces defenders like Nemanja Vidic.

He made his debut as a 16 years old and has also played games in the Europa League playing against sides such as Manchester United.

I think he's been kicked by many 6ft plus defenders already. Whether he is ready for the pace at which the EPL is played at or the overall technical ability is a bigger question as to whether he is ready to be roughed up a little bit.

8.) 25 Sep 2020 16:43:44
Shappy, thanks for the info.

The lad's age and experience has little bearing on whether he's up for the first team at Man Utd. You mentioned Greenwood and of course there is Giggs.

There's not many at that age who can do the business but maybe he is one of them.

Maybe loan him out for a year in the UK at a Championship club. Get him used to the culture and the football, then phase him into the first team next year. If he can play on the right then maybe that's the right wing position nailed down for the next 15 years and we save £90 + million not having to buy Sancho.

That's a lot of maybes but I don't mind the club trying to pull something like this off if it's their plan.

9.) 25 Sep 2020 17:27:36
Shappy I am beginning to see you are right about everything! :p.

10.) 25 Sep 2020 20:45:27
Still 6 or 7 signings needed, it's at a critical stage.

11.) 26 Sep 2020 09:27:52
I've posted recently on this subject and there is no way that he would improve the squad right now. What I have seen, while watching Partizan games, is that he is a talented player, but often struggles even in weak Serbian league.
If United sign him, Partizan will most likely insist in 1 year loan, but I'm not sure that's the beat option for him.

12.) 26 Sep 2020 10:54:43
I think we need to review the recruitment process at the club. It is clearly noy working and there is little confidence that we can identify the right players and then negotiate to buy them where the team is weak. Until this is done I don't see things changing much.

01 Jul 2018 20:46:27
Hi Ed002, was wondering if any clubs have shown interest in....

Ozzy

{Ed002's Note - Yes but why are you asking on the MU page?}

1.) 02 Jul 2018 00:14:39
I saw a report a week ago crediting us and Spurs with interest so I wondered if you had any info.

{Ed002's Note - Someone was teasing you.}

31 May 2018 20:26:47
Quick question for Ed004 as well as anyone else who has a thought on the matter. Obviously we are getting linked with lots of players as always, however what has struck me this summer is how many positions we are being linked with strengthening.

Typical we have seen Jose make around 4 signings. It looks like we should tie up a RB and CM in Dalot and Fred. However along with them we are being linked with CB's (Alderweireld predominantly), LB's (Sandro), another CM (SMS), RW's (Willian/ Bale) and back up CF's (Arnautovic/ Mandzukic) .

If we were to indeed strengthen in all of those areas that would total up to 7 signings which would be very expensive and I cannot see us bringing in that many along with Alexis who came in January. My question is which areas do you think are out priorities and how many signings do you think we will make?

Ozzy.

Ozzy

{Ed004's Note - I think we are looking to make 6 signings. I think right back looks like a youth player in Dalot who will be Valencias eventual replacement, centre back will be a player of top quality (Alderwerield or Umtitti) or no one, a left back is a necessity. In midfield I think we will sign Fred and then apparently want a youth player. Lastly up top if Bale is available I think we will push for him}

1.) 31 May 2018 20:47:26
Thanks for the reply. I’d be happy with that. I think fullbacks, Fred and Bale should be the priority. Anything else I’d see as a bonus. One last point, what do you make of the whole Bailly situation where he was frozen out for the last couple months of the season? I don’t really buy the world cup excuse as Rojo barely featured either.

{Ed004's Note - I would agree that those are priority areas. A centre back would be a huge bonus. Mainly a leader and good ball playing centre back - think it could take us up a level. I think Bailly will be fine. He just needs a good preseason under his belt}

2.) 31 May 2018 21:17:30
Does Milnkovic Savic class as 'youth' Ed004 lol? Want him more than anything, also think we definitey need a top CB, ideally Alderweireld. Dream window would be Sandro, Toby, Fred, Savic, Bale but again, its just a dreaaammm.

{Ed004's Note - I disagree. I can't see how him and Pogba would operate together so would prefer the funds to go elsewhere tbh}

3.) 31 May 2018 21:29:01
If all of that happens its happy days ED.

{Ed004's Note - A lot can happen over transfer window though. No one saw Dalot signing or Fabinho for Liverpool}

4.) 31 May 2018 21:59:05
Or if Pogba fails to perform in the upcoming season, then we can get Savic to replace him? Actually looks extraordinary.

{Ed004's Note - Don't want to write Pogba off just yet}

5.) 31 May 2018 22:10:46
Dont think he will fail myself Ed, 17 goals and assists in 26 or so games out of position in a defensive team, think he got overly criticised (unfairly) during the season and he performed quite well against the top teams. Long as he doesn't colour his hair and have fun eh Ed. 😏.

{Ed004's Note - Exactly. I think he has been harshly criticised tbh}

6.) 31 May 2018 22:30:44
Very true ed. I think we will see one or two surprises.

7.) 01 Jun 2018 03:43:10
Love the way everyone talks about savic so nonchalant, he'd cost upwards of a tonne and we need to strengthen elsewhere. Would love to see him here but jot while pogba is here.

8.) 01 Jun 2018 09:58:10
I think we will sign 3 or players no more .
What do people make of dalot? Young lad only played 8 games I wouldn't be surprised to see him go out in loan.

9.) 01 Jun 2018 10:18:20
No problem with us buying Dalot for the future but it doesn't solve the problem of us having a rubbish right back and needing a better one right now. The problem is I think Jose believes Valencia is the current solution for that position and its just the rest of us who want to replace him.

10.) 01 Jun 2018 10:39:43
Don't no anything about dalot .
Read he has only played 8 games done his knee last month and give a interview on Tuesday saying
The recovery is going well . Above all it takes a lot of patience, knowing that it’s a lengthy process and without hurry to achieve the maximum recovery. For it to be at the highest level, I work. "

Dalot could just be paper talk.

11.) 01 Jun 2018 11:47:13
Love the debate on Dalot. If we sign him, he doesn't solve the problem. If we sign an established player, Jose only signs experienced players and doesn't give youth a chance. So which is it?

12.) 01 Jun 2018 09:55:29
I have to disagree regarding savic ed. Yes there are similarities between pogba and savic: namely physical stature, close control and ball playing abilities. However, savic is more disciplined than pogba. He is willing to perform his defensive duties and is more consistent than pogba. I do think pogba has more ability to do something special, but savic will be more consistently reliable than pogba. There is definitely space for both players to be be operating in a 3 man midfield, pogba on the left and savic on the right. However, with the signing of Fred, it does seem one of these players including matic will be rotated. I hope to see matic rotated with Fred and that will give us a more my dynamic midfield. Savic’s fee is astronomical but he is going to be one of the best midfielders in the world in the next few years. As will pogba. I would be delighted to see both in the side.

{Ed004's Note - I just think that midfield would lack mobility. Matic Pogba and SMS all aren't slow but how will they cope coming up against a quick and nippy attack like City's or Napolis etc. Just think it would restrict our pressing ability. Also think Pogba needs someone who will link the play beside him. Not someone who will probably be the most advanced of the three if he signs}

When its on the bbc it isn't paper talk. Your just probably disappointed we're signing players to improve the team.

I don't think anyone knows anything about dalot so I don't think there has been much debate .
What's your view on him.

15.) 01 Jun 2018 12:20:56
Singh
So you think dalot will improve the team? Based on what .
We he be a first team player?

Sms looks a decent player but pogba at juve looked better . EPL is a different animal than seria a.
I agree with ed sms and pogba are very similar add matic and I'm not sure the 3 look very dynamic.

16.) 01 Jun 2018 12:45:40
I think 5.
Dalot can cover rb and lb.
Toby for cb. Hopefully with 2 departures.
Fred and A N Other for midfield
A forward for the RW.

I don't think Savic and Bale/ Griezmann in one window is realistic. Its an either or. So depending on which one comes in the other signing will be cheaper.

17.) 01 Jun 2018 13:05:30
Yeh you make a fair point ed. I think it’s signing of Fred is actually a very shrewd one from what I’ve seen from his style of play. His agility and mobility will do the world of good for our midfield which does seem slow and immobile at times. Fred has good tackling stats and him sitting with savic and pogba further forward would be a very strong midfield. But I can see your point regarding savic. If we are not going to sign another midfielder I would rather see us give Fosu Mensah an opportunity then go and spend 50m on a squad player. His best position is cm and he has an engine and can bring a tempo to our midfield that we lack. Interesting to see what happens.

18.) 01 Jun 2018 13:14:16
Darmian out Dalot in is a big improvement even if he doesn't get a game. Its not adarmian playedy any games for us this year.

Anyway i was talking more about other positions that we will sign players for which will instanteously improve our team. Such as lb, cb and midfield.

19.) 01 Jun 2018 13:34:40
Singh
So dalot is a big improvement on darmian?
Like I say not seen a lot of dalot but darmian is a decent player who struggled in the epl.

20.) 01 Jun 2018 13:36:20
I think there will be a lot of disappointed fans if they think we will make 6 or 7 signings this summer.

We just don't have the space to make that many signings unless at least that many leave.

We currently have 7 players who can play at CB. (Smalling, Jones, Bailly, Lindelof, Rojo, Blind and Tuanzebe) . So considering Jose tends to play with a back four then at least a couple will need to depart before someone else can come in.

At full back we have Valencia, Darmian, Shaw, Young and Mitchell. Two are over 30 and the other two are likely to depart this summer, while the other is a youngster. So I would expect one or two full backs this summer. Dalot can cover both sides and is young. Probably look at another more experienced left back as well.

In midfield we have Matic, Pogba, Herrera, Fellaini, McTominay, Andreas Pereira and TFM. That's 7 after we discount Carrick. We look like signing Fred, while Fellaini's future is also up in the air. Again Jose like to stick to a midfield duo. So even if Fellaini leaves and Fred signs. We would have Matic, Pogba, Herrera and Fred as four experienced players fighting over two positions, with McTominay, Pereira and TFM as youngsters providing back up. Ideally I expect Mourinho would like a second midfield signing, however, I doubt he will get it.

We have 3 strikers in Lukaku, Rashford and Martial for one position, so we are unlikely to see another striker. We have Mata, Sanchez, Lingard, Martial, Rashford and Pereira who can fight it out for the positions behind the striker or out wide. I can see the argument for signing a player for the RW as no one has totally tied that position down. But considering a top player cost at least 40-50m these days I can't see us signing more than 4, maybe 5 if a couple of them can be attained on the cheap (or relative cheap for modern football anyway) .

People are suggesting 20m on Dalot, 50-60m on Alex Sandro, 45m on Alderweireld, 45m on Fred, 80m on Milinkovic-Savic, 100m+ on Bale and possibly a back up striker such as Arnautovic for 50m.

That's at least 400m on 7 players. That just won't happen. Expecting it to really is living in fantasy land.

21.) 01 Jun 2018 14:01:18
jred, i didn't hear of his name before we were linked to him. So cannot comment either way on him. Was just pointing out the irony in the comments of some of the supporters. Them pointing out that Dalot is young and won't be a first choice are the same who want Rashford/ Martial pplay each game because they are young. They want a more experienced/ older player for RB and then they will be pointing out how Jose doesn't trust youth.

22.) 01 Jun 2018 14:16:02
Any player that comes into a team to replace a player which never plays a game is an improvement in my eyes.

23.) 01 Jun 2018 14:30:22

What strange way to rate a player.

United addict
Do people not want martial etc to play because they think they are good players or is it just there age.

I'm not even sure dalot is being bought for the first team maybe a bit more one for the future?
He made his debut in February due to injury made 6 league appearances then got injured himself . EPL and United seem a big step .

24.) 01 Jun 2018 13:55:33
Midfielder, LB, RW, RB for me in that order if we only get 4. After that it's CB and another midfielder.
All will depend on departures.
I know this Jose wants 4 players is rolled out every year but I read something the other day that in each of his years here he has actually wanted an additional player but the club would not sanction it so maybe Eds 6 is not so far fetched.
Savic only comes in if Pogba goes is my take on it.

25.) 01 Jun 2018 16:05:02
Was Zlatan a good player, isn't Sanchez a good player? Do people want Martial to play ahead of Sanchez? Did everyone wanted Rashford ahead of Zlatan? can't see anything but age being a factor deciding there? What say jred?

26.) 01 Jun 2018 16:09:54
It is a big step. But signing young unknowns from abroad is a united tradition and I thought we were all for keeping our traditions?

Maybe we don't have to budget to sign 7 world class players to fill all the holes in the squad people want filled and have to go for a couple of cheaper lesser known alternatives.

27.) 01 Jun 2018 16:33:59
Not bothered so much about the amount to get signed on but more the quality. Umtiti being mentioned but personally don't think it will happen and a feeling he could be bother, alderwiereld- how much service at his age taking fee into account- would like to see a punt on inters milan skriniar. Quality left back and those mentioned as probable would be a good window. Can see about six or seven going out, shaw, fellaini, smalling, blind, mata, darmian and possibly martial. If martial goes then i could see a big name forward on the cards.

28.) 01 Jun 2018 18:04:32
One word, Bebe.

29.) 01 Jun 2018 18:45:13
Amother word ole (but sure its easier to be negative)

30.) 01 Jun 2018 20:26:32
Who's being negative?
I know nothing about him, just because we buy a player does it make us stronger?
Is he even for the first team or one for the future, only 19 only made 6 league appearances.
If he is bought as right back I would imagine that means our captain Tony will remain at first choice rb . And look at how many people have cried about that all season .

Never seen dalot play but at least a few of the experts on here must of .
I asked a few questions never got a single answer tho.

31.) 01 Jun 2018 20:34:00

I think people wanted martial to play more not sure it had to be instead of Sanchez same for Rasford.

Don't see a single post saying dalot shouldn't be bought or he isn't a good player.
But the lad has 6 league appearances for a different club in a much easier league so I don't see any thing wrong with a debate about what his role MIGHT be if we buy him .

Might walk straight into the first team? I don't think so
Might be in and around the squad . Maybe
Might even be one for the future and go out on loan .

32.) 01 Jun 2018 22:11:12
'I asked a few questions never got a single answer tho' sounds like when we ask you a question jred 😂😂

But honestly, dalot is an unknown quantity. But if anybody knows anything about him it will be Jose, Porto boy.

I'd imagine 3 signings, any more than that will mean there will be a few out the door.

It looks as though dalot and fred will be added and then I think we will see another attacker of some sort. People then have to go for more room to be made in the squad.

33.) 01 Jun 2018 22:29:36

Always back my opinion pal.

34.) 01 Jun 2018 23:43:26
Bored scouser but on Dalot who’d of thought Andy robbo would improve us and so fast? You lot must of been laughing at that signing so give the kid a chance.

Hi Eds, quick question. Do United plan on attempting any other signings this window or will Sanchez be it for the window? Thanks in advance.

Ozzy

{Ed002's Note - I cannot comment sensibly on the timing of transfers.}

Hi Ed. How are United currently doing with regards to FFP and the player wages requirements? Thanks in advance.

Ozzy

{Ed002's Note - FFP is not an issue except for the wages and they know the constraits they must work within. So not a problem at this time.}

1.) 30 Jan 2017 15:47:56
Thanks Ed
Would we be good if Rooney left?
Are we good anyway once the new TV deal kicks in and increases revenue?

Just looked into it. The original reports misinterpreted what he actually said. He said we enquired 2 days ago and last made an offer in January (€40m) which didn’t meet Fiorentina’s valuation (€50m) . I’d expect the valuation has gone up since then but we wouldn’t enquire if we weren’t willing to increase our previous offer. Fingers crossed let’s see where this goes.

Thanks ed, assuming the interest is from Real Madrid? I’ve read they apparently had a provisional agreement to sign him last year before a knee injury scuppered the deal.

{Ed002's Note - I can name four sides who have a decalared interest and have spoken with his club.}

What are you on about?! There’s nothing wrong with this discussion and it has no resemblance to the reasons Ed002 has for not posting. This is just people commenting their opinion on different players, if you can’t handle that then go on a different page.

Thanks for the quick reply. We are desperate for a RW and I rate Costa even with his attitude worries. Also Pjanic for me would be th best possible replacement for Matic at the base of our midfield although I doubt he would be interested in coming here at the moment.

Pogba + Cash for Pjanic and Alex Sandro

Martial for Pulisic

Buy Alderweireld

Sell Darmian and 2 of Rojo/ Smalling/ Jones.

De Gea
Valencia Bailly Alderweireld Sandro
Fred Matic Pjanic
Pulisic Lukaku Alexis

Not bad at all imo.

The problem isn’t cost, it’s prioritising where the bulk of our budget should go. For me, and I suspect a few others, the bulk of our remaining budget should go on a top LB and RW. They are areas we simply must strengthen well. Once they are sorted I’d look for a CB.

If however, we were to blow £50-60m or whatever Spurs want on Alderweireld, I’d worry we won’t be able to spend much on those positions which I feel we need strengthened more, or ever worse, we could go into next season with Young and Mata still in the starting 11.

Ozzy

{Ed004's Note - I would agree that those are priority areas. A centre back would be a huge bonus. Mainly a leader and good ball playing centre back - think it could take us up a level. I think Bailly will be fine. He just needs a good preseason under his belt}
