Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has insisted the Italian champions have had no contact with Manchester United over midfielder Paul Pogba.

On Friday, Marotta poured further cold water on the speculation in an appearance on Italian television, simply telling
Sportitalia that there has been "no contact" with other clubs.

1.) 16 Jul 2016 06:37:13
The old adage applies. Never believe anything until it is officially d
I am hopeful.

2.) 16 Jul 2016 08:38:06
Dortmund did the same with Mkhitaryan.

3.) 16 Jul 2016 09:22:45
Have we put a bid in to the player's club? The more credible sources (relatively speaking) seem to suggest we haven't as yet; more that we've only held talks with his agent around terms for the player. And if we haven't put in a bid, and he's supposedly our top target, then why not?!

4.) 16 Jul 2016 12:51:19
Juve are negotiating other deals for incoming players. Why would they confirm that they could be getting £100m+. Only increases asking price for players they're interested in. Reality is the market knows. But no pointing making it easier.

17 Jun 2016 10:44:11
Well Mino Raiola has popped up again saying they are working hard to convince Dortmund to let Mikhitarian leave for United.
I like the guy (Mikhitarian of course! ), but Dortmund are downright SOBs when it comes to transfers and usually end up getting their way - just like Tottenham.

Eds "do you think we can pull this off? "

{Ed004's Note - I would like to think so. This seems to be a case of Dortmund trying to save face. They'll want their fans to think they tried very hard to keep the player and that (if he moves) the offer they received was too much to turn down for a player who wants to leave.}

1.) 17 Jun 2016 11:14:42
Thanks Ed. I do think Mikhitarian will be a good acquisition but my Chelsea-supporting cousin thinks I'm under rating the player. He's hoping the deal doesn't materialise, how do you rate the player?

{Ed004's Note - Haven't really seen enough of him but his stats where extremely impressive from last season}

2.) 17 Jun 2016 11:18:36
Thanks Ed004👍.

3.) 17 Jun 2016 11:26:03
Is t Mkhitaryan in his final year of contract there is no way they will let's other player leave on a free transfer next season I think they will sell him.

4.) 17 Jun 2016 11:52:54
They did that with Lewandowski.

5.) 17 Jun 2016 15:08:46
I hope we get Mkhitaryan. Right footed option from the right but very good at it - a rare breed. He scores and lays on so many chances which Zlatan et al should make the most of.

6.) 17 Jun 2016 18:45:53
Mkhitaryan was obviously the best player this season in the bundesliga. He is pure class and will even get better.
Just to inform you.

7.) 17 Jun 2016 19:05:04
One word, Kagawa.

8.) 17 Jun 2016 20:51:33
Different type of player.

9.) 17 Jun 2016 17:18:18
just a weird club who keep losing players on a free or it always seems like no one wants to stay or extend. No other club is ever in the news as much as they are with key players not wanting to say, extend etc.

10.) 17 Jun 2016 22:02:05
But that's probably more to do with Bayern winning every year X, and they know any top players they get once they start performing eventually they're going to go and bayern take all their very best.

Must make it hard to stay motivated knowing that's going to happen especially if you feel you have the talent to be winning things and clubs that are going to be challenging for titles come in and offer you more money.

11.) 18 Jun 2016 08:05:58

To a degree yes, but if they had retained what they had, they can give Bayern a run for their money. supposedly great stadium and 80k fans every game, A lot of teams in many other leagues who don't win the league but are competitive seem to have more loyalty from their players. Something strange at Dortmund.

12.) 18 Jun 2016 13:41:08
Was thinking this the other day gcu it seems they never have renewal.

This is for the Eds...

Eds Note - Stick to talking about football on this site please.

30 Jun 2019 14:30:22
Ok, to the Eds and everyone else.

I'm not the type to knee-jerk and I usually disregard news from unverified sources - needless to say the Eds rank up there.

Well, I saw Dalot trending on twitter and what did I find? A SimonSmithBBC claiming that OGS has told Dalot he can stay for very limited play time or leave as AWB will be an understudy to Ashley Young (still has a big role to play) .

This is demoralizing tbh. Even though it isn't verified yet, if this is the case, I think OGS has further proved my doubts in his ability and judgment.

In as much as we were happy with purchase of AWB - a fine defender, majority of fans celebrated because it means the end of Ashley Young at Manchester United.

1.) 30 Jun 2019 14:45:29
Lol, just noticed my post is not complete.
It should be

I'm not the type to knee-jerk and I usually disregard news from unverified sources, I only believe thing from official outlets or verified sources - needless to say the Eds rank up there.

Sorry for the mix up Eds.

2.) 30 Jun 2019 14:48:47
Did you look the profile? A fake i'd with lots of nonsense in it. I saw it month ago and reported it. It hsd couple of follower before but has grown massively, probably because of BBC attached at the end of the name.

Its funny how you claim to differentiate between genuine and fake source and get worried by tge fakest i'd in twitter.

3.) 30 Jun 2019 14:59:30
No I didn't Srestha, matter of fact, I'm not even sure that handle was the originator of the news because some tweets on that issue predate the one posted by that handle.

I didn't claim to differentiate, I stated I do believe verified sources like official outlets, agents, players themselves, the Eds etc.

4.) 30 Jun 2019 15:12:37
You got to ignore those post mate. Most of them have no idea what is going on and others use other papers as their source.

5.) 30 Jun 2019 15:17:11
Look, there are loads of reports like this every year. People either trying to make a name for themselves or just trying to upset fans of a rival team.

Fact is Ole hasn't even taken one training session with AWB yet, plus there will be more signings yet. How the team evolves over the next couple of months during pre-season and the start of the new season will determine what Ole's go to 11 are and the tactics he intends to use.

Anyone saying they have "inside" info to the contrary are just lying or misinformed.

6.) 30 Jun 2019 16:38:55
Says doesn't believe unverified twaddle then proceeds to panic over unverified twaddle. Dalot was one of the few bright spots last season.

7.) 30 Jun 2019 18:03:27
The most telling thing is that Dalot got lots more game time under Ole than he did under Jose. I hope that he will be rotated with both Shaw and AWB, and Young will only be used in rare cases.

8.) 30 Jun 2019 18:26:12
The best teams have 2 players in each position fighting for a place

No one can rest on there laurels knowing there is someone there ready to pounce

Worked perfectly when ole played

Also dalot can play on the wing.

9.) 30 Jun 2019 19:39:38
Yeah right, we paid £50M for him to sit on the bench and before you say it, that wasn’t the plan with Fred, he ended up on the bench because he was pants.

10.) 30 Jun 2019 21:35:18
The original story has been changed to Darmian.

11.) 01 Jul 2019 06:42:41

When I heard the story yesterday I assumed they had got the players mixed up, it made perfect sense if you replaced Dalot with Darmian, there may be nothing in it but if there is it is just a case of the wrong player being named.

12.) 01 Jul 2019 11:20:06
Yeah, poor reporting GDS.

26 Dec 2018 17:50:03
It's surprisingly quiet. Well, at least the whole team seems to be playing better. Even Pogba. Who'd have thought playing the right system works?

1.) 26 Dec 2018 18:13:22
It's great to see. Totally refreshing. We could've had more had we been more clinical with the final ball. But the amount of possession, forward passes, chances is fantastic to see. Need to take the next 6 points and then focus on spurs.

2.) 26 Dec 2018 18:37:58
Thank God Jose has gone .
No martial Sanchez or lukaku today a full front 3 out .
Potentially such a good team.

3.) 26 Dec 2018 23:44:46
Added to the result is this little gem from the United page.

“United finished the Boxing Day victory over Huddersfield with four academy graduates up front: Angel Gomez, Paul Pogba; Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford”

Icing on the cake!

It’s early days of course, looking at where we have been in recent times and what Ole, the staff, the players and supporters have been able to achieve in these two games is almost unbelievable.

Could they have done better in these two games? Not concede any goals possibly but they have still been very convincing wins.

It shows what positivity, the right attitude, teamwork and the right attitude can do.
Long may it continue. On to the Bournmouth game.

He has been our sunshine so far!
Ed0333 said - I hope he gets the full time job.
Can Ole make himself undroppable?

4.) 27 Dec 2018 06:36:20
Mike, I take you point but I’d much rather win 3-1 than 1-0. Let’s attack and try and score, hopefully we’ll score more than them!

5.) 27 Dec 2018 10:17:52
Oh I agree, I was trying to say that if we are looking for areas to improve, a 3 - 0 win would be an improvement, making our defence even stingier.
But I will take 3 - 1 any day of the season mate.

30 Sep 2018 15:10:26

1. Mourinho picked McTominay in a back 3 benching Bailly for a mistake made over a month ago. Just to take a piss at the club for not buying him a shiny new Aldeweireld

2. Picking a team without balance and transition from defense to attack and people are surprised.

3. Still employing zonal positioning both offensively and defensively. Constraining players support and making the whole team disjointed. At a point Pogba was surrounded by 3 West Ham players with no teammate in support. He luckily got a foul and was livid screaming at his teammates for not supporting for a pass yet he's the bad one.

4. Obviously, most of of the players aren't playing for the coach any longer.

5. Losing the game 2-0, what does Mourinho do? He takes off Pogba and Martial leaving McTominay, Young, Fellaini and Matic still on the pitch. Were we trying to defend the scoreline or equalize?

6. We practically played with 7 at the back yet were trailing 2-0 down at HT.

7. I'm not going to talk about lack of chemistry, telepathy or choreographed movements as that's a unicorn level wish.

8. Just like Bailly, he benched Alexis just to say “told you so” and justify playing Alexis week-in-week-out.

9. And for those of you slating Pogba for speaking out about playing defensively, what did Mourinho do after the game? Publicly slated Martial. Don't forget that Lukaku, Matic and Young were the worst players on the pitch but he says nothing because they're his loyal boys.

10. Yet if Martial says anything about need to attack, you guys will be the first to chide him forgetting that's what you all want and that's what is screamed down from Stretford End.

Many of the fans think they love the club more than the players. Well that's true but not for all players. Some of these players came through the system and live and breathe the club though may end up leaving but it doesn't make them less of fans.

Even as footballers, they want to succeed, to win to write history so they have more at stake and want to win it more than us.

In that vein, why wouldn't they want to go to a place they believe they can win, where they can play beautifully and be a success? Do you think Van Persie would have come to United if we were playing the way we are now with such a poisonous manager?

And don't give me the argument of effort, it's BS football is not a power sport. A player doesn't need to rub at 100mph. That's why Spanish teams trounces us every time. Liverpool and City have shown that and Sarri will establish it soon enough.

When the system is flexible and accommodates the strengths and weaknesses of its individual components, it consolidates everything and becomes strong. But when a system is rigid and expects all the components to work against their strengths while ignoring their weaknesses then its doomed to fail.

Go figure.

1.) 30 Sep 2018 16:16:10
I agree with every point Yaz. Especially about players speaking out against Mourinho. Anyone who thinks that a player is in the wrong saying Manchester United need to play on the front foot is insane. The first person to publically disrespect the club was Jose after all following the sevilla defeat. Fans and players should have turned on him then. If Woodward had any balls he would have sacked the prick that night.

2.) 30 Sep 2018 16:31:53
Who's fault is it players can't make a 5 yard pass?

Jose needs to go but most of this squad needs to follow him. Personally i'd play the u21s from now till the new year.

3.) 30 Sep 2018 17:44:24
Yaz, best post I've read in years. Absolutely nailed it. I feel worried at the three people who have disagreed with you. Because, by disagreeing, they're basically saying that Mourinho is in the right. And he most definitely is not.
I don't like Pogba's love of social media, but i will have him in our team any day.
Mort, the reason players can't pass the ball 5 yards is because the system is wrong, and the training and mentality of our manager is wrong. He's the one who shpuld be setting them out to find space for our players to pass to, however, he chooses to play a defensive formation where the players are static and hence the man in possession doesn't have options. This is not rocket science, Barcelona have been doing it for 15years. Fergie's teams did it for 20 years. City, liverpool, spurs are doing it now. It needs training, fitness, hard work, and tactics. Non of these are evident in pur manager's thinking and our team.

4.) 30 Sep 2018 19:03:49
It’s both, but we have seen how Chelsea, and even Arsenal respond to new Managers. It doesn’t have to be either or, it can be both.

23 Jul 2018 18:14:00
What is this I'm reading about Ribalta leaving for Zenith?

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse.

1.) 23 Jul 2018 19:04:05
I've heard that the chef at Carrington has been offered the head chef position at the Lowry Hotel. If the club allows this to happen I might have to pack it in with them.

2.) 24 Jul 2018 09:23:36
Nathaniel that is a very naive reply. A business is only as good as its staff. Staff of all levels seem to be wanting out. It’s a big concern, whether it is a good player or a good scout.

I love the some people act all holy and whatnot.

Why do you think you're clean? What makes you better than the "Arabs"?

You built your nations pillaging and destroying others because you had technology and advancements to your aid.

Killed well over a hundred million through slavery.

Stole their natural resources, colonized their wealth and territories. Lorded over their affairs like gods.

Built your nations and economies on the backs of their blood sweat and tears.

The same people whose descendants living in your country majority of you still look down upon with disgust.

You're still the same people riding on your high horses saying "Arab blood money".

And I don't want to hear "but it was then" because most of you supported and still support wars in other countries which is leading to millions of deaths, destruction and poverty while we know the real reasons for the war. Most of which is for resource control (oil from wars in Middle East, Blood diamonds from Congo Zimbabwe and Central African Republic etc), drug control (Afghanistan, Pakistan, South American countries etc), lucrative weapons and arms trade and not to forget the threat of any leadership who refuses to dance to the tunes of the western world will be overthrown in usually a bloody takeover/ coup funded and supported by your nations to "liberate" the people from a "monster" or "dictator" which will not only lead to loss of lives but also thro the countries into chaos, destabilize the economy and plunge the people into decades of untold hardship.

But go on about the Saudis, let this not stop you.

You big tease Ed002:)

This is the first time I'll not agree with you Ed001. At this point, we need Pogba in our team.

As for the rest talking about "ambition" "passion" "commitment" "loyalty" and all that, we're in a different era. Pogba may not be the best but he's among the best ballers and since his arrival at Manchester United, he has not featured in the best five players in the world. Any appearance in any selected world-level team is based on his international duties. He has no chance of winning the Premier league or champion's league in the coming days. The club aren't showing much ambition to strengthen yet you all want him to smile and keep it up to show "he loves the club".

Yet if any of you had a better offer than your employers that would lead to a more successful and beneficial future for you and your families you would take it without thinking - isn't it hypocrisy?

Remind me how many trophies Bale won at Madrid. Maybe he should have stayed at Spurs they would have at least won the FA Cup.

On a final note, 8m not saying loyalty is not good, but ambitious and also visions have to match. Also, do remember we're at an age where "playing for the badge" is becoming history.

{Ed001's Note - what are you wittering on about? People expect Pogba to break sweat and make an effort, it's his job and he is well paid to try. Instead he strolls about being a lazy get, it doesn't matter what era you are in. Have you not seen the top 3 last season play? All 3 had 11 players on the pitch making an effort, which is why they are the top 3. Pogba apologists, excusing him being a lazy tit despite being paid millions to stroll around the pitch laughing at the fans paying his enormous wage to do f all, are just embarrassing. Clueless.}

Tony do you honestly expect Dybala to happily want to leave a team with Ronaldo and several stars which is guaranteed at least a major trophy and also UCL football every season and come over to us because we are Manchester United?

That ship has sailed!

No matter how attractive a team is, it still has to make an effort to appeal to a prospective player.

Wazza you still haven't explained how. Throwing statements doesn't justify the veracity of the said words.

What did he do to cause problems in the dressing room during Mourinho's reign?

I'm sure a lot of people would like a bite of your "exclusive"

You're right about that. Lots of fans have been poisoned on Pogba's issue. Mourinho knew that he was getting found out and divided the fan base.

Furthermore the Pogba hate has to do with much more than his attitude but a narrative which has been pushed on by loads of pundits (ardent ones of which are scouse) that Pogba is overrated, publicity Whore, arrogant and disrespectful. Which in all entirety is false but of course we know why players like that are bashed.

Highly hypocritical that same people hyping luxury players as geniuses are attacking a player who gives in more effort for the team.

It has gotten to a stage where his performances are judged by distance covered or number of balls lost (not a fair matric for a risk-taker) .

Look at the whole media execution and brouhaha he faced due to the image posted for an Adidas event. Even if Pogba put up the smirking picture by himself (which his media team took claim), or it was just his picture taken at a personal function (which wasn't as obviously it was an Adidas event), he deserved benefit of doubt or a fair hearing but all you man were up on your high horses taking aim at him.

Alexis drives into Carrington listening to "I'm free, I'm free" and not an eyelid was batted. I didn't hear Gary Neville, Roy Keane or any scouse ****. er on that.

I come on here but no furore nothing for Saint white Sanchez from all the guys here labeling Pogba as toxic. Its funny that the only person who thinks he is is Mourinho and some people for whatever reason (his former coach at Juventus didn't, his national coach doesn't, hell eve Fergie said the agent was the problem not the lad) .

If Pogba had put up that video.

There is a bias for certain people but the most annoying thing is how we allowed Mourinho to pull wool over our eyes, divide our hearts from the team and turn us against our players and selves.

The same Mourinho who always spoke about himself, his victories, his titles, whenever we lost. The same man who refused to evolve his obsolete game yet attacked the ability and integrity of his players publicly in the media, The same Mourinho who didn't know the word "we" and who looked you in the eye and told you that your club has no football heritage.

If it were Mourinho, yesterday wouldn't see us attacking from onset (we always sit back and allow our opponents build their rhythm and tempo) .

If it were Mourinho yesterday, you would never have dreamt of us exhibiting the high press.

If it were Mourinho yesterday at 2 - 1, we would have gone defensive and tried to protect the lead only to capitulate at death.

If it were Mourinho yesterday, it would beeen have been a rigid formation with our fullbacks both not bombing up.

If it were Mourinho yesterday, it would be Matic and Fellaini not one for the other.

If it were Mourinho yesterday, our players will have no confidence and pleasure to play with delight, exuberance and joy.

He had already had a fight with Valencia over a trivial social media issue, with Bailly over a negligible issue, with Sanchez over how the game is played, with Shaw countless times even the week before he was sacked that's why he didn't play him. Of course they had to split with Pogba because he stood up to him about the style of play and how the players aren't enjoying it.

I don't care what anyone says, I'm old enough to make judgement, I have vast experience in civil service and man management. You can't frustrate your workers, make the job as boring and as detestable as you can, slate and castigate them in public (both their colleagues, rivals, families and whole world) then expect them to run into a brick wall for you. Ever a dictator will not get that loyalty nowadays.

I'm not saying wet have suddenly turned a corner - we'll definitely lose some but we'll play beautiful game with first intent on winning not defending.

I blame this entire problem on the coaching management, for example;

James has been awful these couple of weeks. Why not start with Greenwood?

Also, why not play Williams over Shaw? There is this flow of continuity and transition which the lad offers that is overlooked. Little things like that though salient are very important to how a game pans out.

Why didn't he bring on Pogba and Greenwood at half time?

If Lingard, Mata and Pereira aren't cutting it why not give Gomes a chance? Probably going to leave and we'll have us a Pogba mk2.

Speaking of Pogba, he did ok but you can see the difference in class between him and the rest. It isn't even a debate. Watching this atrocious team, it's a surprise he wants to stay.

Martial was very good today. His holdup, link up and general game play has been good. Furthermore, Martial as our striker, created 3 big chances today - Opta. Rest of the team created 0 big chances.

That's extremely poor😬all these days but the only problem is the goals aren't coming as creativity is next to nothing.

De Gea's mistake is not an issue because once in a while, such happens but when a team can't create and finish against the lowest team on the log then such mistakes will turn out to have a higher impact than should.

Honestly, we have poor management. Yes I do accept that Solskjaer is not technically adept. But there is no law saying a manger must be. Problem is his coaching team have nothing to offer. Phelan, Carrick and the rest obviously cannot help him navigate through this difficulty.

The stats are damning: 10 wins in 35 games.

But the caveat with those wins is that only 2 wins came without penalties - I'm not discounting penalties but it should be understood that this outlines our inability to create in-game.

Prior to this game, I think Watford had just a win this season, only scored 9 goals and bottom of the log yet, they trounced us 2 goals to the good. Another perspective is that he has won only 7% of his Premiere league games without penalties. This is an embarrassment to say the least.

Solskjaer has spent over £100m "improving" our defence last summer yet we keep conceding and we unfortunately are on a run - A run of 13 PL games without a clean sheet.

This season, We have 4 fewer points (25) than we did at last season (29), at which point Jose Mourinho was sacked.

Let's be honest. If Ole wasn't a club legend he would have been sacked long ago. Sentiment and denial are keeping him in the job. The games we've lost and lack of tactical nous exhibited by Solskjaer would have earned even a mid-table team's manager sacking.

Remind me again why I wholeheartedly agree with Ed002?

His knowledge, insight and vast information are undeniable. Sometimes, I do wonder if, just if the glazers were to ask Ed002 to man the helm just for a year.

& no, I don't mean as the manager but a key strategic football position like a DoF. Or PERHAPS, a CEO's position like Woodward.

But a man can only wish.

Anyway, maybe Wenger can be a good short-term solution.

I like the way Rashford is given "time" to deliver, you know. To "find himself" again. To let his "talent" shine through etc. Man has been playing in the Premier League for four seasons but hasn't progressed yet he is being gassed up as the next Ronaldo de Lima.

If Pogba or Lukaku had missed those chances and several more like Rashford did this and previous seasons, the guillotine would have been sharpened.

Just like Pogba's penalty miss that birthed an uproar and a week later, you could hear the crickets.

Like I've said countless times, Rashford is not a solution to our striking conundrum.

Take it or leave it, Martial is head and shoulders ahead of our strikers and second place doesn't even go to Rashford - Mason Greenwood in case you're wondering.
