So Mata might be off to the Italian capital, think that will be a perfect move for him.

He’s been a magnificent servant to our club and I wish all the very best for whatever he chooses to do in his future. A proper honest footballer. Go well Juan.

Yes scooby an all round good bloke.
Its a real conundrum some players face he has been a bit part player for 4 years. He has won a lot but I'm sure he could have played a lot more elsewhere but would have to turn his back on millions. We see it often in many clubs. Jones or rojo and jesse are good examples at united. Now jesse has seen that there is joy to be found elsewhere he has done so well he might earn more elsewhere. Its a tough decision to leave united voluntary.
Some players are happy to be great squad players also I suppose Juan is one of them. I'd like to see him have a last hurrah at a club of his choice.

Are there any rumours of the Glazers even considering selling up?

And is there anyone in the frame to buy the club?

I don't mean to be sill-y, putty they are in a bit of a jamb financially, so if it's inside then they can just knock out the remaining glass and save the expense of fixing it, or wait until the transfer window is upon us again.

Rumours that Cavani promised to stay another year on social media.

Believable2 0Unbelievable

30 Apr 2021 13:20:30
Seen that too, and apparently from a reliable source.

Would be great for us if he does stay. Means we can focus on other positions this window and worry about a cf next year if the problem hasn't taken care of itself via greenwood or rashford.

30 Apr 2021 16:36:05

Agree3 0Disagree

30 Apr 2021 19:27:48
Would be ideal if we can get him to stay one more season.

Firstly, he is performing for the team, any potential replacement signed is not guaranteed to hit the mark.

Secondly, I don't think we can afford to spend upwards of 100m on a top class striker this summer.

Thirdly, I have high hopes for Greenwood, while I wouldn't be against asking him to step up next season. An extra year training and learning from a top class striker will only aid his development. While a striker of Cavani's age and injury record means Greenwood will still get plenty of chances to play through the middle and prove his worth.

30 Apr 2021 20:04:26
I hope he stays for next season just for him on a personal level. Imagine playing for united and never getting to celebrate a goal at the Stretford end with the fans.

02 May 2021 11:16:22
I would question why Cavani would even consider leaving.
I think its because he knows a big name striker is coming in.

Agree0 0Disagree

02 May 2021 12:27:25
Jgb, I doubt very much that is the case. The rumours are that we will sign a striker only IF Cavani leaves.

I suspect he'll probably not feel entirely welcome in the UK after being suspended for a racial comment.

Plus he has a young family and wants to return to South America to be closer to his extended family. Something many people who live in different countries to their extended family are realising in a post C.V. world. Having spent a year not being able to fly between countries so freely.

Not posted a rumour before but here goes. A work colleague's girlfriend works in a high end nursery where a few United players put their kids. If they want to stop their childs care they need to give 3 months notice. Pogba as yet has not given notice, Phil Jones's might be leaving, depending where his next club is. (Jones is on £270k a week, he should be embarrassed) . Also 1 possible in coming and the name being banded about is Raphael someone.

I don't know if this has been covered but with the rumours of united interested in Varane and pau Torres, has that stopped now Bailly has signed a new contract? Personally I'd have sold Bailly, due to his injury record, and tried to get both of them. They would be a great balanced back two but with Maguire being captain and costing £80m I guess he's not losing his prominence any time soon.
Failling that, If jones and rojo go, I'd bring in Torres first as we don't have a left footed CB. Might this be an option or are all bets of since the ESL collapse?

Sorry for the rambling but I hope you can work out what I'm getting at.

Thanks in advance. YM.

Believable2 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - No, Manchester United still have an interest in adding a CB and both players remain on that lengthy list.}

Centre back (Torres), defensive midfielder (Rice) and striker (Silva) would do very nicely.

Agree0 0Disagree

27 Apr 2021 22:15:18
Not convinced about Silva. Is he really going to get 20+ league goals a season? I would love to give two of really good u23 team forwards a chance

And we desperately need another creative attacking midfielder.

27 Apr 2021 22:24:03
The defence is starting to look settled to me. My prediction is that no defender willl be coming in. All resources will go towards a CF.

Agree1 0Disagree

28 Apr 2021 09:47:53
We need a CB, Varane, Kounde, Pau Torres for me in that order.

A CDM in the mould of Rice would enable us to play with one holding midfielder for certain games. Giving us a more offensive option along side them for breaking down those deep sitting teams.

Then for me a creative forward is more important than a ST. Are problem is that our strikers don't get enough good quality chances. We see when Bruno struggles we struggle. So a RW option who'll create goals rather than look to score them is essential. While Sancho might be the dream, his cost will be prohibitive. Raphinha at Leeds could be a great dark horse option. EPL proven, has a good on field rapour with Bruno. While is also capable of doing something special off the cuff to make a chance completely on his own.

A summer of Varane, Rice and Raphinha would be amazing. Although with our owners I doubt we'll see anything close to that good a summer.

Agree5 0Disagree

28 Apr 2021 11:24:18
Are Varane, Kounde, Torres that much better than Lindelof - not from what I have seen.
We won't sign a RW - we have Greenwood and just paid best part of 50m on Diallo and Pallestri.
I honestly think big money on a striker, a back-up RB and a few younger players will be the extent of our business.

Agree3 0Disagree

28 Apr 2021 11:57:39
Varane expensive and would question why real would sell him only to pay alaba big wages? Kounde don't know but won't be cheap would probably look to torres, - pace and young but again price when we come knocking? White and milinkovic could be the better options with fees and wages - also white played epl let go jones, tuanzebe (dont think he'll get his chance now) and wouldve said bailly but just extended so lindlehof. Rice would be good business but we desperately need a forward and would part ways with Martial. Tbh can't see all of that happening with C.V., budgets and we still unsure on sanctions for the esl.

28 Apr 2021 15:16:25
One thought about Torres is he plays left of centre and it's this area we are thin on if Ole is looking for balance.

Agree1 0Disagree

28 Apr 2021 15:26:01
jgb, Varane is arguably one of the top 3 CB in the world.
4 times Champions League and a world cup winner.
Kounde and Pau Torres are being targeted by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern. Ofcourse they are miles better than Lindelof and Maguire.

Having a fast CB is essential as Ole intends to play a high line.

Agree2 0Disagree

29 Apr 2021 00:03:00
Ben White looks like a young Jones to me, no thanks! Not seen much of the other go-to CB names, looks like the Leipzig pair are off to Bayern/ Liverpool too. Feels like we have a settled back four and Lindelof is playing as well as he has. Steady but unspectacular. I’d like to see a more mobile younger CB come in.
Rice will cost a fortune once English and Utd tax are added. Personally can’t see what the fuss is about. Ndidi would cost half as much.

Agree1 0Disagree

29 Apr 2021 00:30:39
No disrespect but Ole has no clue as to what he wants to play. Speaks it during interviews and does the complete.

Agree0 0Disagree

29 Apr 2021 08:58:17
Spenno, Leicester charged us 80m rising to 85m for Harry "Slabhead" Maguire. Ndidi is twice as important to how they play and a much bigger "key" player for them. They have almost certainly qualified for the UCL this year. In what world would they charge us less than 80m for Ndidi?

I agree Rice will be expensive. The "United" tax is something we have to pay for every player. The "English" tax is just one of those things.

But more often than not you get what you pay for. If you want a top class CDM who is proven in the EPL then you will pay a huge fee for them.

If you spend half as much on a player who has never played in the EPL then it's a gamble.

Last summer I was one of the people who thought Donny at 40m was a better option than Grealish at 70m. In hindsight it's hard to say that was the right call. Maybe Grealish might have gone off the rails or not have the mentality to step up to a top side. But he can certainly play in the EPL and have a big impact. Something we still don't know if Donny can.

Players like Laimer or Zakaria might be half the price of a Rice or Ndidi, but we know the latter two can cut in in the EPL.

Money will be tight this summer, its important that as many of our signings hit the ground running as possible.

I suspect Cavani will sign for one more year. £14million and one last shot at the CL is a pretty strong draw, especially as he is probably the second name on the team sheet now after Bruno.

Hi ed002.
You said a couple of weeks ago that United were not one of the clubs trying to complete transfers early. ( or words to that effect)
Do you know if that's changed and if they have started to engage with their priority targets agents or clubs?
Likewise for any players moving on have they started the process with any of those yet?
Have you any dates for your latest sharkopds for the United and other epl clubs yet.
Ta. Have a good day.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure much has changed. I know there has been a discussion with one agent over a player leaving and a third-party is dealing with two other departures on behalf of the club. I am not aware of Manchester United pushing for any signings at this time, but they know what needs to be done in terms of positions and will be trying to clarify targets. THere will be a Sharkopod for Manchester United when time allows.}

It certainly looks like the ESL is now dead in the water. I just wish United had been the first to leave even though it would only have been a very, very small consolation.
I only hope that Woodward's position is now untenable and by extension the Glazer ownership but I somehow doubt it.

First to leave? We were the leaders! We never left! It fell apart around us.

But I don't suddenly have more respect Chelsea and City, they were happy enough to go along with it, they didn't take the high road here, they just bottled it.

I think Chelsea and Manchester City jumped on the bandwagon with the proposal in the hope that it could potentially be commercially successful. I imagine they had some doubts but wanted to take the risk that it pays off. Unfortunately it didn't so they quickly U-Turned.
