Ed02, I respect your knowledge and opinion can I ask you 2 hypothetical questions if you have time?
1 are managers tied to same contract constraints as players ie if MU wanted Rodgers and he has 2 years left is there a problem?

2 (more important) who do you see as being the correct manager/ coach to harmonise this team and reap their undoubted potential?
Thanks as always.

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - (1) Well Manchester United would need to negotiate with Leicester to release him from his contract and pay accordingly. (2)

1.) 06 Nov 2021 21:33:21
Ed you tease…. no answer for question 2?

{Ed002's Note - Pchetino or Southgate would still be the obvious way forward Eric.}

2.) 06 Nov 2021 23:13:06
Nothing much will change until those making decisions are sorted out we have the perfect opportunity at the moment with woodward leaving to get our house in order but i worry they will either prolong his tenure or appoint someone from within and nothing will change.

3.) 06 Nov 2021 22:49:07
Cheers Ed.

4.) 06 Nov 2021 23:07:02
Is there any chance of Poch being released before summer?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

5.) 07 Nov 2021 10:00:40
Southgate? Please don't do that to us. God no.

6.) 07 Nov 2021 11:21:41
Miguel Delaney - nowhere near as credible as the wonderful Ed002 - I’d apparently reporting that Ralph Ragnarik interested in any potential interim managers job to the end of the season, but would then want a permanent job elsewhere at United.

7.) 07 Nov 2021 14:57:36
Hi Ed,
Few rumours circulating today regarding Brendan Rogers ‘verbally agreeing’ to take over at United. Is there any truth to this?
Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea. The FA would take a dim view of an illegal approach being made.}

8.) 07 Nov 2021 16:00:05
Would it potentially be a case of an agent asking Rodgers agent if he was interested? I think Ed has mentioned this sort of thing happens with players.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, that is fine.}

19 Jun 2021 14:15:44
Eds do you know if there has been any development with regards Pogba staying (signing new contract) or leaving?
Also has there been any interest in 1899 midfielder Florian Grillitsch?

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - (a) There is nothing new as such as far as I know about Pogba. There is limited interest in him this summer. He probably needs to be patiant and bide his time until his contract runs out next summer. (b) Yes, lots but this is the Manchester United page.}

1.) 19 Jun 2021 15:07:42
Sorry I meant to add in if there was any interest shown by United in him?

{Ed002's Note - No Leanoard - several other clubs.}

2.) 19 Jun 2021 21:14:27
No chance United will let him do a Donnarumma on us.

3.) 19 Jun 2021 22:58:11
Grim, he's free to talk to clubs in less than 6 months. He will most definetely leave for free next year.

4.) 21 Jun 2021 09:02:25
Ed would a pogba varane swap not make sense for both sides?

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt that would work.}

22 Jan 2021 04:39:51
Ed has there been any development in negotiations between MU and Pogba over a contract extension? Ed02 stated few weeks back that the club may use a third party to assist due to the poor relationship between them and the agent?

Just seems he's enjoying his football and I, for one, hope he stays!

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - His agent is actively talking to another side about a summer transfer. They are still looking for options away from Manchester United for him.}

1.) 22 Jan 2021 10:20:38
They should let him move in the summer and respect his wishes. The club needs to grow up.

2.) 22 Jan 2021 10:55:55
In that case Ed, have the club yet accepted this and are they actively seeking a teplacement.

{Ed002's Note - They already have van de Beek and may not look for a direct replacement but look to strengthen elsewhere.}

3.) 22 Jan 2021 14:11:23
Saul please! And maybe a CF. Ed are any sides showing interest in Martial?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

4.) 22 Jan 2021 16:55:24
Can you name the side ed?

How would this transfer work since we activated his 1 year extension? We would have to negotiate a few with the buying club and then negotiate a share of that fee with Pogba?

{Ed002's Note - PSG - I explained a week or so ago.}

5.) 23 Jan 2021 07:07:08
As Ed002 says we have the direct replacement for Pogba in Van De Beek, he does need a run in the side though because right now he's not happy and it looks like Ole doesn't rate him.

Personally I think we need a proper defensive midfielder. Someone who brings the energy Fred does but is better on the ball. Not that we are looking at him but Wilfried Ndidi would be an incredible signing. Bruno, Van De Beek and Ndidi would be an excellent midfield.

6.) 23 Jan 2021 07:31:03
If I remember correctly I think Inter held an interest in Martial as a possible replacement for Martinez should he leave.

{Ed047's Note - I didn’t know Inter were looking for more ground staff, he’d be ace at that stabbing the pitch with a fork thing they do as they only have to stroll around for 10 minutes each match doing it!

7.) 23 Jan 2021 07:41:54
I’m sure VDB is fully aware that Pogba is on his way and he’s been bought to replace him if Ed2 also has this information don’t you think? Truth is Pogba is currently undroppable.

8.) 24 Jan 2021 03:59:33
I'd like to see a Pogba/ Varane straight swap. Could solve both problems if it's true Varane is looking for a new challenge.

9.) 25 Jan 2021 09:57:51
He (Pogba) has had 4 good games and now some fans want him to stay. how fickle! Another thing i don't get on here is the love for VDB, he's had countless chances now and he's not affected one game. He's been very poor, almost lost in every game i have watched him in.
If he has been brought to replace Pogba then i world be very worried.

12 Sep 2020 21:49:41
See Reguilon and Bale trained separately from the rest of the RM team last week. Ed is there any whispers of us approaching Bale for a possible loan as a stop gap to return for sancho next year?

I have read this week that real are willing to pay a large percentage of his wages to gwt him out of the squad?

Does this have any legs? I would be happy to have him on loan for a year!

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid are looking to sell Bale not send him out on loan.}

1.) 12 Sep 2020 22:53:38
Just out of interest ed002 what sort of fee would they command?

{Ed002's Note - About €25M.}

2.) 12 Sep 2020 23:44:50
Thanks ed002 👍.

3.) 13 Sep 2020 00:06:10
Make a cheeky offer of 20 million euros and if he would accept lower wages it coukd be a decent signing for a year or 2.

Would give us options to address other areas.

Bale on his day and fit is quality but you don't want to be in a situation of a sanchez type signing again.

4.) 13 Sep 2020 05:08:16
I’m somewhat amazed that they are asking for a free considering the wages that he’s on and the number of appearances he makes for them. I like to believe that there isn’t anybody out there who is stupid enough to sign an inconsistent player with a poor attitude who’s on such ridiculous wages and for a ridiculous fee. but given Ed Woodward’s history.

5.) 13 Sep 2020 05:31:40
Why would he leave a 3 year contract with crazy wages, playing in a club were he is guaranteed to win stuff, to sign a 2 year contract with a smaller team, and on top of that take a pay ut?

6.) 13 Sep 2020 06:19:05
You appear to have spelled your name incorrectly.

7.) 13 Sep 2020 05:28:39
Hi Ed, thanks for the info as always. Do you think Bale still has something to offer as a player, providing he stays fit?

{Ed002's Note - In his 30s it won't be for long - but a short-term solution.}

8.) 13 Sep 2020 10:01:04
The only way I'd want us to sign Bale is if his contract was heavily performance based pay. Basic salary of say 120k per week, with the rest based on actually playing and performing.

For too long he has drifted along at Real Madrid showing no fight, commitment or passion to get back playing regularly. He has ignored doctors advice and played golf while injured, potentially exasperating injuries and delaying recovery time. The only time he has considered leaving Real Madrid was for a 1m a week deal in China.

Quite simply I don't think he has the desire to play football anymore.

{Ed047's Note - he must be a million miles away from being fit enough to play for some time too.

9.) 13 Sep 2020 10:15:38
Avoid like the plague.

10.) 13 Sep 2020 11:28:22
Bigger mistake than Sanchez. At least Sanchez still wants to play football. Bale has no desire, completely checked out of his career.

11.) 13 Sep 2020 14:05:30
Just the wrong signing imo just from a football perspective a guy in his 30's who's not played for a while and is heavily reliant on his pace it is just asking for trouble.

12.) 13 Sep 2020 14:23:04
I tbink its unfair to say Bale has no desire to play football. From the outside looking in it seems to me that he does want to play but Zidane does not want him. If that is true and that as various journalists have reported over the years that Bale was frozen out and offered around I can quite believe he might feel insulted.

He has been a fantastic footballer and I think been treated shabbily by Madrid IF the reports are true. You do not win so many titles and become man of the match in a champions league final if you are rubbish.

It may even work in his favour that because he has not played so much latterly he might be able to play at a higher level for longer. A fit Bale would definitely help Utd but I agree with others it should be on a pay per play contract.

13.) 13 Sep 2020 16:12:58
A loan could work, permanent could backfire. If we have a player with a point to prove and the right attitude it would work, but somebody just picking up a high wage and no effort then it's Sanchez mark 2. I think these few years hardly playing can work for him long term, less wear and tear on his body and he should be pretty fresh.

14.) 13 Sep 2020 17:18:32
Such a shame. I always hoped he'd end up here at some point. Lad's been doing himself no favours whatsoever. Could you see Messi or Ronaldo being happy to sit on the bench, rather than take a pay cut and go and play football somewhere else?

15.) 13 Sep 2020 17:21:21
If Sancho deal is difficult, Bale should be signed only if it is an incentiviced deal.

16.) 13 Sep 2020 17:49:52
Dive, dive, dive, avoid, avoid, avoid, run away!

17.) 14 Sep 2020 16:27:48
Why go after Bale if we could go after James Rodriguez

25 Aug 2020 17:09:13
Eds seen on BBC gossip today cuty are weighing up a bid for Messi. Do you know if there is veracity to this or is it click bait?

I am just wondering the sort of finances involved in such a deal for Messi?

Be a great brooks back up lol!

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - They are one of the clubs that could take him. You are on the wrong page to discuss any detail.}

1.) 25 Aug 2020 21:42:22
Would United be able ed?

{Ed002's Note - I would not see that as an option.}

2.) 25 Aug 2020 23:15:48
I can see strong forces behind the scenes looking at this. Adidas would kill to get him to us and sell Adidas Messi shirts for what would inevitably be the biggest shirt sales for a player in history.

3.) 26 Aug 2020 01:03:57
Messi to united are you kidding when you have Ed Woodward a guy who couldn’t close a book and a puppet as a manager in Ole a guy who just accepts it when they hardly ever get any of their targets why would Messi want to come to a circus like that.

4.) 26 Aug 2020 06:04:31
United couldn`t get to Sancho's asking price, let's keep it simple united cannot afford Messi.

5.) 25 Aug 2020 23:52:14
Many thanks.

6.) 26 Aug 2020 08:43:53
Guys the Barcelona page has more info about Messi from Ed002.

7.) 26 Aug 2020 10:25:52
Lovely stuff TRD, good looking out.

8.) 26 Aug 2020 13:15:47
Perhaps Dortmund’s stubbornness regarding Sancho could work in our favor here. If Messi’s lawyers are able to argue that the season being extended should mean the clause in his contract is also extended (it was originally set to expire ten days after the date that the Champions league final which the timing suggests will be their argument) and he can be signed for nothing, it would be a great bit of business for any club even with his insane wages.

That said, I think if he goes anywhere it will be to City. Perhaps had Chelsea not acted so quickly in the market they might have been an option.

Eds

Messi mentioned that PSG are only one of a few clubs who have been showing interest in him. Are you aware of who the others are?
Some journalists alleging we may be one of them?

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - A third party spoke with several sides to enquire if they would be interested in the player. The only club willing to make anything close to an acceptable offer is PDG.}

1.) 09 Aug 2021 11:54:49
Still find the whole Messi situation a little baffling. Barcelona’s terrible finances, La Liga bringing in new restrictions that have seemingly cost the league one of its most valuable assets in terms of marketability, only one club being in for the world’s best player, Adidas being happy for Messi to go to a club whose kit is made by Nike. None of it makes much sense to me.

2.) 09 Aug 2021 14:04:02
I think people overestimate how much influence player sponsors have. Messi will go to whoever will pay the most for him. Simple.

3.) 09 Aug 2021 14:42:17
-----Wrong Page - this is the Manchester United page-------

4.) 09 Aug 2021 14:52:25
Shaps. I’m pretty sure that the lion’s share of his income comes from Adidas through this role as a lifetime ambassador though. Certainly more than he’ll get from two or three years at PSG, anyway. I’m not sure exactly how much he gets, but Ronaldo’s reported to have gotten about £1bn for his lifetime deal with Nike and LeBron is rumored to be on more than $60m a year for his. You’d like to think Messi is getting at least that amount, if not more.

Granted, Adidas can’t exactly force him to do anything, but I’m sure they’d much rather see him wearing an Adidas kit week in week out for the next few seasons at Bayern, Juve or United (I’m excluding Real here as that’s obviously never going to happen) than go to another Nike team in PSG. If I worked in their marketing department I’d certainly be trying to come up with a way to manufacture a move, perhaps by offering better terms to the aforementioned clubs if they can sign Messi. They’d likely make their money back in shirt sales in no time considering they take the lion’s share. Perhaps it doesn’t work like that, but I can’t see why it couldn’t.

I dunno. Perhaps I’m just disappointed to see him taking the easy option rather than testing himself in a competitive and physically demanding league. By all accounts but his own though, he may well be taking the only viable option that’s been presented to him and for as nice as it would have been to see him do his thing in England (whether with us, City or Chelski), it could certainly be argued that he has nothing left to prove and hasn’t for quite some time.

01 Aug 2021 17:24:32
Eds

Sorry if you have answered this in years gone by.

What way does it work between player and owning club when it comes to transfers?

What I mean is, theoretically, next year young haaland wants to come to us due to his ole connection, friendship with sancho or his dad wants him to find the missing part of his knee on the OT pitch etc but say Real offer 10 million more? How does that balance out?
Thanks again.

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - (1) Manchester United have no relationship with his agent. (2) Players do not move to be near their froends. (3) If the coach has a relationship with the player that is tapping up and illegal. (4) Dortmund would expact any other club to match a bid by the club the player probably want to move to.}

1.) 01 Aug 2021 22:15:12
Are agents not employed by the player? If I was Haland and wanted the best deal then my agent would. get it for me. If it. happened to be United then I would tell my bloody agent I did not care about his relationship, its the deal I want.

{Ed0666's Note - surely the player has some sensitivity for the agents Ho our/dignity based on their relationship?

2.) 02 Aug 2021 09:34:12
A player hires an agent not just to facilitate moves/ get them the best deal available, but also to advise them on potential career paths.

It's a personal as well as a professional relationship in most cases. Thus why you can find pictures of Mino going to restaurants with many of his clients.

While I am not a fan of the public way in which Mino sometimes works to pressure clubs, he is at the end of the day working for his client in their best interest.

I also appreciate that it takes two to tango and doubt that Mino would go to the press as a first port of call and more likely do so when talks aren't going the way his client would like.

With the total breakdown of any sort of working relationship between the club and Mino I highly doubt he will be advising any of his clients to move to us. I mean how can he possibly have any confidence in securing a good deal for his client at United while the senior figures at the club aren't on talking terms with him.

It's ridiculous and personally Pogba isn't worth falling out with one of the most prominent agents for. Hopefully Murtagh and Fletcher can rebuild some sort of relationship with him moving forward.

3.) 02 Aug 2021 13:13:27
shappy i think if the money was right mino wouldn't care what the relationship was he is a leach.

in regards to haaland as much as i would love him at united i can't see us getting him,

i suspect Madrid will be his next destination along with mbappe at some point.

31 Jul 2021 08:55:17
Eds,

Do you believe the boy Haaland will move this window? Reason I say this is his clause comes into play next year and Dortmund know they will lose him albeit a bidding war may ensue but at lower price.
Would it not make financial sense for them to cash in now? I know CV has decimated many clubs cash reserves but there are a few surely that would be able to complete?
I have even read this morning that we have offered Martial plus cash which I find hard to believe.

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - I suspect he will stay in Germany another year Leonard. One club has proposed to his agent a higher fee than his termination clause to agree a transfer for next year but Dortmund don't want to sell this summer.}

1.) 31 Jul 2021 10:05:57
With Dortmund losing Sancho I doubt they'll want to lose Haaland as well.

While for Haaland next summer I suspect he'll have his choice of top club with pretty much all the top sides in Germany, Italy, France, England and Spain able and willing to match his termination clause next summer.

2.) 31 Jul 2021 11:41:20
Agreed Shappy. He’s a young lad - another season of 25-30 goals in Germany and he will have his pick of any club in the world.

3.) 31 Jul 2021 15:41:55
Imagine he has a poor season put down to the lack of partnership/ assistance of Sancho such that he is desperate to reunite (at United) to resurrect his form 😂.

4.) 01 Aug 2021 09:07:24
According to Fabrizio Romano, and it is just his personal speculation and intuition, he believes United to be Haaland's most likely destination. He mentioned several factors, of course the Ole connection and the friendship with Sancho, but also the fact he truly believes Haaland wants to play in England. He thinks both City and Chelsea will purchase top class forwards this summer, leaving them out of the equation and, because of the cost of the deal, does not believe Liverpool will be involved.

28 Jul 2021 17:39:33
Ed02 has your opinion of the 'amateurs' changed in any way with the way in which they are doing business since this window opened?

2 (🤞) signings in a few weeks when the last I don't know how many years 1 signing was a drawn out saga.

I was worried that Varane was just using us as a means to enhance a new contract package at Real but that seems not to have been the case and in my opinion 34million is a great deal for such an experienced player even with limited time length on their contract.

Leonard

30 May 2021 09:37:28
What's your opinion on the chances of Ronaldo returning?

Some talk of pogba swap today. Personally I would love to see him back and he would definitely lift the team. Would love a committed Pogba too!

Leonard

1.) 30 May 2021 10:12:56
Step backward. Not what we need at all.

2.) 30 May 2021 10:32:58
It’s a yes from me, obviously.

3.) 30 May 2021 11:11:35
No. Move on and be grateful we had him and were part of his upbringing.

4.) 30 May 2021 11:51:05
Depends on Martial. If he goes Ronaldo and Cavani would be fine with me.

Not sure Cavani is going to be ok with being second choice.

I'd be surprised if this happens but he looks to be leaving Juventus.

5.) 30 May 2021 11:53:41
I would not be disappointed but if it was up to me I'd avoid it.

6.) 30 May 2021 12:03:19
Another hark back to the 70’s where we prayed for a return of Georgie Best to give us the old days back. Now they likely would do it hoping to sell more shirts and shut the doubters up. They are even more stupid than I thought if they do that.

7.) 30 May 2021 16:40:10
For the fantasy footballers out there, what will happen is a trio swap. Pogba to Juventus, Ronaldo to PSG and Mbappe to United. Mbappe has already been spotted looking at flats in Trafford and he purchased a used vectra from Alfs Autos.

You stand! Read your posts, the match was 4mins old and already straight in with the negativity!

Are you asking me will we win every cup this season? Well if you are then I say no. But if you asked a more important question are we on the course of serious improvement well the answer is bloody YES! And I see us in contention to these cups!

Why criticise everything after 4mins? It wasn't just you truereddevil on here saying the same and then posts another comment above saying can we play Leeds every week?! With or without McFred? Make up your mind!

Our squad is our squad. They are aware of this criticism. Lindleof set up Brunos 3rd with an amazing pass not one person on here saying anything about that. Ole said in post match interview that lindelof is aware of all the criticism against him!

So answer to your question stand is you!

This site is full of moaning gits! Ed02 is right some fans are toxic and never happy and quite a few of them on here!

We have just won 5-1 against a good Leeds team in our first game of the season! And at home too when it was November last year before we won our first game!

McFred give their all and Fred got a goal today! I doubt it will be McFred all season so a bit of support towards the actual team and mgt instead of this armchair 'I know best' crap on this site from some!

We will probably be top of the league come Tuesday so bloody enjoy it. We have more players to return and will get stronger!

Enough said GGMU!

Thank you Ed02 as always.

I think that Watkins kid from villa is worth a shout if we can't get haaland. I think he is a hell of a striker/ finisher and with the correct assists he could easily be a 20 plus goals per season striker!

Think he would give ruud a run for his money daz! Plus the ability to score outside the box etc and he is exactly what we need.

Eds do utd have a realistic chance of signing him? Especially with his agent?

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - No, there have been discussions with other sides.}

Innocent until proven guilty.

What about when Keane was arrested in early 90s and fergie had to go to the police station for him? He went on to become, IMO, our best ever captain?

Leonard
