What route do the club go down if they decide to replace Carrick?
Conte, the top level experienced manager.
Nagelsmann, who I think would be a risk. Not an elite manager for me. Flattered to deceive in other 'big' jobs.
Hurzeler, another risk.

Probably on par with Amorim, although Amorim had actually won something.
Howe, the steady Eddie who I fear would be another yes man for the board.
Anyone else? I'm actually a bit stumped when it comes to any other names.

Its a tough one 2toms.
Conte is my choice because he is the best fixer. Short term.
He will organise motivate and improve what we have.
Fabregas would be more of a long term option but i doubt he'd leave como mid season.
Naglesman is an interesting one. Again quite devisive. Hurzler doing great at Brighton like de zerbi and potter.

I do like him he is a very intelligent guy and very engaging. A great option you'd think but won't leave Brighton mid season and will cost a fortune in compensation.
Get a fixer in for 18 months like conte and if that works for longer than that then all the better.

That list probably highlights the mistake we made letting Amorim leave.

jd, I don't think Amorim was the answer. We played some absolutely dreadful football under him

I'd go for Conte. He would at least be entertaining and throw some fudge into the players who wander around the pitch.

I read this rumour and it makes sense

Carrick lost the dressing room following the reintegration of Rashford into the squad. Apparently Carrick assured Rashford that he would play a major role in his plans for the season. However, this reportedly raised concerns among other players, particularly Cunha, who wanted clarity on his role given that he and Rashford operate in similar positions.

Cunha is understood to have approached Carrick over the situation, but Carrick reassured him that Rashford's return would not affect his playing time.

Despite those assurances, Carrick's decision to repeatedly start both players together, even when the combination wasn't working, reportedly became a source of frustration within the squad.

The Manchester City game was reportedly the breaking point.

That was the moment several players lost faith in Carrick's decisions, with trust in Carrick said to have deteriorated significantly. They also say there is also growing discontent among some players over the board's decision to sack Ruben Amorim last season. They reportedly believe Amorim had established a clearer footballing structure and that the team performed better under him, despite the disappointing results.

Lisandro Martínez is reportedly among those who hold this view which could also explain his apparent frustration after the match against Atlético Madrid.

So basically what the non-Glazerite fans have said all along.

15 Oct 2026 11:44:09
The club brought in a manger to rebuild the culture, squad and win. From the recent Bruno interview, the squad were behind the tough decisions, freezing certain players out, getting certain players out and going through the pain of change. The squad were told according to the interview the board fully support the process and know its going to be hard and get worse before it gets better. The squad were apparently happy with this.

The board did the worst possible thing, they pulled the plug early because the manager called them out publicly as they didn't fulfil their end of the deal from the managers perspective and bring in players in Jan.

The team then see the players that they had first hand experience of coming back in and replacing players that helped the team finish third last year. No reinforcements coming in to positions they know they need support in when playing more than once a week.

It would be interesting how things would have played out if Amorim didn't call out Wilcox and nail his own coffin. I personally wish that were the case. I'm not sure where we go from here.

You all seem to forget the football was dire under RA

I'm not having it that this is all because Rashford come back in, that's codswallop, why would Cunha not just work harder and show he is better than Rashford, Sorry RedMan your playing a tune to your own narrative because you hate Rashford and Bruno too by the way.
Cunha been useless all season any player worth his sort would show he is better not down tools

More likely scenario is what Martinez alluded to, they are trying to do exactly same as last season and they been found out and they have not evolved, clearly players don't believe in methods or coaching or training but to try lay that at Rashford door is diabolical, because you heard it on social media.

JSU,

I didn't write the rumour, I saw it and posted it and it makes sense in terms of general people management.

0

15 Oct 2026 13:31:52
Where did you see it redman i'd like to read that article.

0

15 Oct 2026 15:14:19
I think the key thing Martinez was talking about was constant and regular change of the Manager. We don't know the full story but maybe it is about them trying to bond and work together yet the higher structures keep interfering and sticking their nose in.

Does Wilcox come into the dressing room try to give team talks or undermine the management for instance? There is something deeper here that we are not seeing.

0

15 Oct 2026 15:23:50
Stan not a chance that is happening, so self respecting manager of any level would allow that to happen . Strange how different people hear the same words but hear something else completely different

RedMan where did you read that, I like to see who wrote it?

Ken

Not an article but a rumour and not sure origin but I bet social media somewhere like Twitter.

Lest we forget RA wasn't pulling up any trees and the football United played def improved after he left. He is not setting Serie A alight either which is a much easier league than ours.

Nearly all United supporters know that fundamentally it's the failure to buy better defenders which is really hurting the team. If United concede at least one goal every game it puts huge pressure on the rest of the team to get a win as they must score at least two goals.

Salford

Amorim is history but when you bring a transformation manager like him in it's to make tough choices. Big transformation doesn't happen quickly and I was very comfortable that Amorim was taking tough decisions for the better. Vision and plan.
Yes results improved initially but the football gradually worsened, we have fallen back to where we were again. RA has gone.
Yes buying ordinary and missing targets has hurt us. But the manager situation is a disaster and it is clear there is a poor spirit in the squad.

15 Oct 2026 18:07:55
Renewing the complete defence won't solve the problem of poor midfield and attackers and lack of pace in this team, your clearly pinning hopes on defence fixes this, the players been bought are miles from what's required at United I think this squad gone backwards and what is it 400 million in last 2 summers everyone of them is squad player at best.
I know our standards have slipped but if anyone thinks we got any great players apart from Bruno is this squad our standards are even lower then I thought not one of them makes City or Arsenal team not even sure any make Liverpool team
No strikers, slow 2 or 3rd rate midfield no defenders even worth a mention and a GK that if we are being honest and not judging him against Onana is a number 2 pushing to be number 1.

couple that with inexperienced team of coaches that's United now plus the idiots running the lunatic ex player retirement home.

1

15 Oct 2026 20:40:32
The football improved after Amorim?! Is that a joke? Every single player in the squad has regressed since Carrick arrived. Amad, Mbuemo and Cunha were all looking good under Amorim. We had two good (smash and grab) games against City and Arsenal, and then the rest of the games under Carrick last season had more than a sprinkling of luck.

Since then the football has been absolutely dire. I see without doubt the theory that the fitness instilled in the squad by RA was what carried Carrick through those final games of the season. Our passiveness and general lack of a gameplan or plan B this year are blindingly apparent.

1

15 Oct 2026 21:13:48
Why should Cunha have to work harder to prove himself? Rashford sooked his way out for his dream move, clearly worked harder over there but has only crawled back with his tail between his legs cause they didn't want him. he should have had to work his way back in and not starting from the get go.

What is everyone's thoughts now on the summer window buys, I'm really asking those who didn't want to pay over the odds for players? I was one of them and I was wrong. I thought we were right to walk away from the Fernandes lad at West Ham. I thought we were right to not go in for Alex Scott at 80 mill as quoted by media or 65 mill for Adam Wharton but I was so so wrong.

Same with Hall as Newcastle the old United would have pushed and pushed, the lad wanted to come and the old United would have found the money - going down the cheap route for Santos and Tielmans will backfire if it hasn't already we should have thrown the money at a better midfielder alongside Baleba - Tielmans would be good on the bench at Liverpool or Chelsea not as first choice with us.

Going to be a long horrible season with Carrick gone in next 6 weeks. God only knows where we go next but don't be surprised if it get worse than it is today.

1

13 Oct 2026 12:44:11
The only player there are regrets its Eliot Anderson. But even we would go as high as the price was, he would probably chooce City.
I always wanted Eliot and Baleba plus one more, i was of the thinking that Baleba Anderson and Mainoo is potentially title winning center.

Then there are Fernandez or Tonali that although good players with some good attributes, not worth overpaying and better wait for better options to be available.

3

13 Oct 2026 13:33:46
I said from day one Tielemans and Santos terrible buys, I rather buy one elite player than 2 or 3 low rent players

I honestly don't think even last summer was good buys in Cunha Mbuemo or Lammens

None of these are the required level that United need, but of course if we're happy mid table then they are fine.

3

13 Oct 2026 13:41:44
I thought that way for a while but not now- heard transfer guy on talksport yesterday saying Alex scott won't move in January but Bournmouth will let him go in summer for 100 million- whatever your opinion of him that's the price they want today - trouble is everyone want s minimum 85 mill now - we paid 50 mill for Santos who was never worth it, and even if we paid 15 mill he has hardly played so we would have still wasted 15 million.

I think we should have gone in harder for top targets including Hall. Anderson had apparently told city in April he was joining them so he was a non starter.

1

13 Oct 2026 13:44:08
I think we bought one potential starter in Baleba, and two squad players.

Tielemans is unsuited to a midfield two. He needs players to cover for his lack of athleticism, and has been a liability for us. The type of player that looks a bargain on paper, but is simply not what we needed.

Santos is a conundrum. Theoretically a player that has everything required to be a complete midfielder, but struggles to bring it together on the pitch. It's a bit of red flag that Chelsea were looking to get rid despite knowing that Enzo was pushing for a transfer. Tells me that they didn't think he could make the jump required. Plus the fee was far too high.

Anderson would have been ideal, but nobody could compete with City's dodgy money.

I rate Tonali, but he was overpriced, and works best as the anchor in a midfield 3.

Fernandes has massive potential. However, there are huge questions with his attitude. The fact that he has already fallen out with the manager at Spurs speaks volumes.

The biggest mistakes in the transfer window were not addressing lb and striker. We are inexcusably short there.

Overall, I'd say that we did the transfer business of a club content with challenging for Champions League qualification. A club that is playing the odds with investing just enough to get the big meal ticket, but nowhere near enough to win things. The owners want to keep the salary bill down, while gambling that we have just enough to secure champions league revenues. That's the level of ambition.

6

13 Oct 2026 15:17:10
Players we bought are not even on level of champions league requirements we will struggle with top 4 with this set up.

1

13 Oct 2026 17:14:16
@ Je suis unite, I don't agree on Lammens and Mbuemo, I think both of them are very good buys, not convinced by Cunha though.

3

13 Oct 2026 18:27:27
I think all the players we bought have the potential to bring us nearer to the title but they are all let down by a) rubbish defence b) not being played correctly and coached into a system that plays to their strengths c) like the rest of the squad have clearly not had a serious physically hard pre season training.

4

13 Oct 2026 18:22:51
I'm not saying Mbeumo is a bad player, but he's not amazing. He gives the ball away a lot and needs multiple chances to get a goal. Top defenders wouldn't be scared if you saw him running at you.

I said on another post, Lammens is not a great keeper. He should be nothing more than a backup. He gets away without any focus on him as he's not a complete idiot like Onana before him.

I like Cunha, but mainly because he actually puts a shift in. But he doesn't suit the system anymore. You need someone with pace to play on the left of a 3. Especially a United team completely void of any pace.

But if the goal is to challenge at the top end of the league, the signings last summer and this summer were poor and will likely prove to be a waste of money.

2

13 Oct 2026 23:54:03
Some people struggle to understand that we needed numbers this summer. Anderson, Fernandes and Baleba would have costed us almost 300m. I'm not defending the club, I'm actually pointing out their incompetence. Years of bad business have put us in a situation where we needed a lot of new players and didn't have enough money for top quality additions.

That's why they went for the cheaper alternatives in hope they can sign a few midfielders, plus LB and ST. But being so incompetent, they failed to do it all.

2

14 Oct 2026 01:39:42
Padding the squad out with players who aren't good enough to drive us forward is not the answer, H94. I'd much rather have signed a proper Cas replacement and then given the other two spots in the squad to youth players.

All that said, I think it's a little too early to be writing off our summer signings. Baleba has barely played. Tielemans is a good squad player, but I don't think we'll ever see the best of him playing alongside Bruno and Mainoo.

Santos confuses me. Carrick clearly doesn't rate him, which for a £50m signing is a little worrying. Then again, he doesn't seem to fancy Yoro either, and he cost even more. Maybe both will come good in the future, but we need players who are ready to step up now, or enough quality in the squad to be able to ease these players in without team performances taking a nosedive (kind of like we did with the Class of 92).

1

14 Oct 2026 07:36:50
I wanted Scott, but frankly, that ship has sailed now.

1

14 Oct 2026 14:34:36
No point filling the squad with inferior players, that's just total waste of money and time.

Might as well just promote the youths up if your going to say just fill squad with bodies!

Menemo is not a bad player and put him in a decent team he may do OK, but he ain't the star of the show that's for sure
Cunha look at his stats this season awful

Lammens not recovered from WC we only think he good because measured against Onana, he should be a number 2 pushing for a place, that his level atm.

Tielemans runs in treacle
Santos 5 clubs by 21 not pulled up trees at any

We spent hundreds of millions on this lot and not a great amongst them, couple of average players that's all

Put a low level manager and coaches into mix an inexperienced pair above them into the mix and Current United comes out!

12 Oct 2026 21:31:40
What i would like to happen.
1. Over the next 2 windows i would like to see a cull on this squad, a complete changing of the guard and even at fire sale prices none need be sold at a loss on the books.
Dalot maguire shaw martinez maz rashford mount amad zirkzee and with thanks Bruno.
3 are out of contract at the end of the season although we retain an option on bruno for a season which imo they should trigger with no increase in terms.
Trying to replace that many makes it nigh on impossible in today's market.
2. i'd like to see 1 of conte appointed to oversee that transition and be competitive at the same time.
He will organise what we have for the time being and they will do a lot better imo. He might play 3 at the back.
3. I would like to see a decisive approach to this in order the give a new coach the best chance.

I think the likelihood of many of those players being sold is high. So I'm hopeful on most of them being gone.
On conte i'm not so sure but it would be some craic with him.
On them being decisive on this, i'm not too hopeful.

1

12 Oct 2026 22:05:01
I agree with all of your points Ken but just don't see the brains trust and mr clever clogs Wilcox having any clue about how to fix the mess we are in. Too busy trying to prove they are right rather than doing what's best for the club.

2

13 Oct 2026 00:01:25
Seems like Conte has already been approached by United according to some of the Italian press.

1

13 Oct 2026 04:40:56
I reckon what I would like to happen is United employ some men in white coats, because there managers all seem to start spouting total nonsense in press conferences happened with RA, certainly happening with uninspiring Carrick.

I am still not sure why anyone is surprised at any of this, When you add the likes of Tielemans and Santos to a already poor squad what can anyone expect, when the manager only previously got Boro on his CV who, s fans moaned at his football the lack of defensive quality, lack of in game management and poor substitutions it all sounds familiar, then we add Evans and Woodgate into the mix and for a little topping we have Wilcox and SJR the chef . How can anyone of sane mind think this will work.

Oh wait Tielemans and Santos were great signings lol.

2

13 Oct 2026 13:46:15
We're always talking about culling the squad. The problem is that the new thrifty approach to transfer fees and wages gives no guarantee that the replacements will be good enough. We haven't shown that they scouting system and decision makers are competent enough to bring in quality at lower costs.

3

13 Oct 2026 13:47:03
No player will succeed long term in a failed structure. Average players will exceed their expected performance in the right structure.

Man Utd's overall structure is rotten. Last year we spent >£100m or not far off the equivalent of the annual salary + amortization for 3 Elliot Andersons.

It affects everything. Can anyone really see anything changing for the better?

1

14 Oct 2026 07:39:29
Ken, I called for this this summer, and you were quite vocal in that we cannot tear up the squad in one summer.
We needed to be ruthless. Amorim would have ripped it to shreds.
We chose the easier path and the fans lapped it up.
Retaining the likes of Shaw, Maguire, MdL, Martinez, Dalot, zirkzee, mount, Rashford! Criminal.

We had a window to make wholesale changes and back a manager (that window was last Jan). Baleba back then would have transformed the team and results, hands down.

2

14 Oct 2026 20:42:54
Agree mate.

Conte oversea change keep competitive and then Enrique. Dream.

Club need to spend in Jan. LB and ST.

I'd go for Vini Jr and Alvaro Carrera.

12 Oct 2026 18:57:34
I was not impressed by Tielemans nor Santos being bought. I said sell Martinez, not least for his flag waving at the World Cup. Bruno as well, whose contract only runs until June 2027, clearly doesn't look interested. I said sell whilst we could to get decent money, but no, there are those who just cannot be apart from him. Now we will get a low fee, when we could have had £100m or even £60m in summer.

Yoro, gets in the France team, plays well but the mastermind Carrick doesn't want him apparently, plays him at right back because the club didn't realise that Dalot is awful whilst watching him for years. Carrick wants to sell Yoro whilst playing the now aged slow Maguire.

The club must have gone loony because they couldn't see we didn't have a left back, couldn't see we were one injury to Sesko away from disaster.

Nor can the club seemingly see that Carrick doesn't trust youth. Forget the Gabriel stuff, look how he is treating Yoro, Heaven and Lacey. Lacey who didn't even get on at the weekend. Carrick only seemingly trusts mature players whilst the older ones go slow.

Oh tomorrow night I bet they try because they are in the shop window, so a draw wouldn't surprise me, yet it just covers the utter mess of taking an emotional decision with the manager. The mess of SJR letting the Glazers stay, SJR appointing Wilcox and letting him tell the then manager what tactics to play, then sacking him.

What a mess

Can we all agree on one thing. We must never ever ever again put a club ex player, who we liked as a player, in the permanent manager role based on a short term temp contract? Never ever ever again.

12 Oct 2026 20:31:15
Good post RM.

1

12 Oct 2026 23:09:24
I saw this today.
This season we lost 4 points to injury time equalisers.
2 points to a kamakasi own goal.
1 point stolen on a refereeing error.
The argument is that its fine lines.
The post did mention that we did not deserve those points on balance of play but we were within a min or 2 of having 7 more points.
But i have to say this is some of the worst play we've seen since the end of the ole and carrick era imo, in terms of no team cohesion of any sort and all loosey goosey with no real plan that i can see. Maguire slower than the slow man from slow land at moving the ball.

Dalot getting the ball wide and turning backwards and inside 98.75% of the time. No control in midfield. Slow in recovery runs. Very few tackles made no structured pressure on opponents 95% passive.
A manager under pressure that's fears playing youth and not dropping players for consistent under performance is a major concern.
He must know himself that he had backed a few players he shouldn't have. Continuing to do that is falling into the same trap Amorim fell into whereby he won't make some obvious changes.

2

15 Oct 2026 05:49:22
Santos can be a quality player his passing is always forwards, maguire is holding yoro back, dalot should be sold if they can find a buyer, but milan wouldn't buy him a few years ago.

0

12 Oct 2026 09:31:30
Can't wait until we 'fix' our defence next summer like we fixed our attack last summer and our midfield this summer.

2

12 Oct 2026 14:13:15
Yeah when we do, if we use the same standards we will be relegation battlers year in year out.

2

12 Oct 2026 16:20:37
I think that is the issue right there. By changing the entire midfield and the attack last season doesn't allow for the team to used to each other. last season they had a way of playing and were starting to gel and now we have throw three more into the mix.

it sometimes takes time for one or two players to gel but change whole department and it will take even longer.

0

12 Oct 2026 17:29:16
There is really only one change to the team this year. Casemiro out and tielemans in.

3

11 Oct 2026 14:26:32
Surely it's clear to everyone that Carrick is effectively done at United now. It's just a matter of when.

Hopefully the club act decisively for once and pull the trigger now rather than wait another 8 games to do what everybody knows is coming.

The question now is, who will they choose to replace Carrick?

Hope to god they don't revert to type and choose another interim for the remainder of the season.

Obvious names are Howe and Conte who are out of work. Conte would cause carnage but maybe that's what they need.

I don't know who I would pick at this stage. I just hope the club shows some ambition and gets the best man for the job whether they are in work or not. And not take the easy option as they so often do.

6

11 Oct 2026 15:28:09
RVN to end of season!

0

11 Oct 2026 16:08:53
If Conte had problems with the weak mentality at Spurs, he hasn't seen anything yet!

4

11 Oct 2026 17:33:52
I can't see Carrick being sacked so early on.
He will get a few more months min.

There's no real obvious options with outstanding pedigree.

Howe, Naglesman and Conte stand out.
Hurtzler, Andrews look good in well run clubs.

The squad has obvious deficiencies that cannot be dealt with until Jan, Left Back and ST.

The underlying metric is running stats and that points to the fitness and conditioning of the players post World Cup.

A change in manager won't give that quick fix. Might keep JJ G though.

2

11 Oct 2026 17:52:50
You are probably right UtdRoad. But the season will be gone if they give Carrick any longer. The team is getting worse week after week.

The players are rotten, but not much you can do about that in the short term.

But lack of quality or squad depth has nothing to do with attitude, effort and fitness. All of which have been severely lacking this season.

From the outside looking in, it comes across as Carrick is a nice guy and is being too soft on the players. Less training, too relaxed, no intensity. No plan. It seems players can be lazy and rubbish with no pressure of a bollocking or missing the next game.

2

11 Oct 2026 18:26:38
Season is already gone

Only realistic chance of a trophy was carabao Cup as big teams often rest players.

Premier League.. Miles off
Champions League.. Won't get out of group stage playing like this
F A Cup.. Other teams will have more desire

So with City firing on all cylinders Arsenal clearly better and even Brentford and Brighton better than us it's really going to be a mediocre season.

0

11 Oct 2026 18:39:29
It's going to be Eddie Howe. Standard new manager lift and buy a bunch of reserves when you finish 4th thinking that this will help compete with Arsenal.

And back to square one.

1

11 Oct 2026 18:53:17
Eddie Howe is a solid and competent manager who wouldn't be a bad shout to stabilise things. If United want to bring in an elite level manager, they have to make the club attractive to one. I genuinely wouldn't be averse to bringing in Howe for a few years. He's miles ahead of Carrick, and probably the best fit with where the club is right now.

5

11 Oct 2026 19:23:17
Eric Djemba-Djemba til January and then give him another contract til the end of the season. So good, they hired him twice!

1

11 Oct 2026 19:52:16
From what I've read and seen, unless the likes of Wilcox also go, it doesn't matter who replaces Carrick as the new manager will still be served up bang average players.

A teenager with a copy of football manager would do a better job at scouting new players.

2

11 Oct 2026 21:29:57
OGS is available? 🤣.

0

12 Oct 2026 01:58:16
Totally agree, Danny.

I've been hailing him for years.

Howe is a bright, clever coach who improves players and is tactically astute.

But if the same old problems are there, I don't know if any manager will make a difference to be honest.

2

12 Oct 2026 09:40:31
Here lies the problem Noucamp99. I've no issue with moving Carrick on but who comes in? What are people's expectations of this individual? How long do they get?

This issue is way bigger than the Manager, it has been since SAF left. Yes results need to improve and I expect a new manager may provide that and we can have a period of time getting excited, but does anyone realistically think we will be in a different position in 12 months unless bigger things change at the club.

1

12 Oct 2026 11:55:57
Ports, I hear you, mate.

0

10 Oct 2026 20:12:45
I think everyone knows the inevitable is that Carrick loses his job.
Why not get on with it and get a manager in who might make something of the season.

I loved Carrick as a player. He's a very likeable guy, not a manger who's going to take us back to the top. Or anywhere near the top in fact.

Conte would be my choice.

14

10 Oct 2026 21:12:31
I agree. tonight was the pits. Players not running, lack of effort, the fact maguire is still playing, can't pass for toffee. list is endless. was shambolic tonight and it ends in carrick losing his job. But United won't act, they'll differ like usual.

9

10 Oct 2026 21:18:02
Can't sack him because Wilcox backs him 100 percent and knows if we just stay the course and follow his plan all will be fine .🤡🤦🏼‍♂️.

2

10 Oct 2026 21:29:53
That course is battling it with the likes of Coventry and Ipswich for survival

3 weeks and we get given that dross

Every game looks worse

Draw flatters us we should have been 4 down before we score

How many more games does Maguire have to play.

Ineos are to blame for giving the job to someone who is so far out his depth it's embarrassing

Then they back him in the market with dross other than baleba who is a good signing maybe other two, one was a cheap option and the other doesn't get a sniff so what was the point in buying him

Players playing out of position and this carrick ball is dreadful.

Lived off the back of the hard work Amorim did and now we look lost and not fit what so ever,

Out ran out thought and out played every week

But never mind a new stadium they can't afford is the answer.

Spurs players ran 5km more than United players. enough said. That is absolutely pathetic..not sure how much more we can all take.

How can people keep picking and blaming McGuire or Dalot for that matter, Martinez was poor yet again in fact he cost us more goals this season than McGuire.

Tielemans awful again, santos nowhere near team, Cunha and Mbeumo were not great, in fact it was only Mainoo in that game who looked anything like required standard and Baleba worked hard when he come on but that may have been 1st game adrenaline

All round awful performance as every game this season been.

I think Cunha and mbuemo are proving to be really bad signings. In the system they are playing in now it just doesn't work. Cunha has zero pace in over a very short distance. Mbuemo needs 10 shots to score a goal.
The team don't look drilled, they are all over the place. No one seems to know what they should be doing.

Carrick post match interviews are embarrassing, he comes across as clueless, I'm glad the fans are turning on him because hopefully they will speed up getting a proper manager in, if we can trust the club to do that. We can't be having another interim.

I agree with 2 Tom's. Also work a lot of the points on this thread by others.
Conte would be my choice.
He will get them organised and working hard.
Again my strong pretend is to have a complete for dale over the next 2 windows under conte and sell or release all of the following.
Dalot shaw martinez maguire mount rashford zirkzee amad maz sesko and bruno.

All even at fire sale prices will generate a book profit.
We need a total fresh start under a new coach and to get rid of these players that have failed under every manager.
Of course it won't happen but that would be my strong prefetence.

So Conte has thrown his name in the ring

Feels like Groundhog Day but what are people's views on this?

At Napoli he won the league whilst moving away from his trademark 3 at the back (which is what put me off originally).

Seems to be an excellent motivator before exploding - again this used to bother me but we don't keep managers for more than 2 years anyway atm so is this even a problem anymore?

(Note: I still want Carrick to succeed and think any manager would struggle with the full backs we have but would be interested by the overall consensus)

Conte is on another planet compared to Carrick. Conte would not allow slackers and makes teams run. Tactically astute.

Certainly would shake everything up. However to save you the wait, people will just say there is no one better than our Michael, so we must not be unfaithful even mentioning anyone else's name.

Bit torn on Conte, top manager but there will be strife whilst he drives change. Miles better than what we have. Intrigued by Hurzeler mind you and wonder if that is more the direction, a young vibrant coach. We had one but didn't stand behind him.

I'd snap him up in a flash.
No need question. He is better than better than anyone we've had since Ferguson, barring Mourinho.
In fact, he could have a similar impact that Mourinho had. Competing in the cup competitions at the least.

Currently, we're being knocked out in the early rounds with pathetic displays.
Getting some trophies, whether that's League cup and Europa, would be a boost for some of our younger squad.

Hes a serial winner, that's for sure, and he would certainly shake things up. It would be very entertaining but potentially short lived.

Conte is a serial winner. I would not be concerned about him staying for a sustained period.
I think we would do better under him than under a lot of coaches.

Conte wouldn't last 5 minutes under the current structure. He'd call the board out like Amorim did and get sacked.

Rewz is spot on.
I've been fortunate enough to understand how mental my own physiological profile is thought myers bring.

Conte is pure ENTJ. Google it.

He will get frustrated by how inept the back office is and go bananas.

But I'd love him, love the type. And Would hire the type. I have an expression passed on from an old director. He used to say I'd rather have someone good for 2–3 years than some one an average for 5 years.

I'd rather have someone excellent for a year or so like conte than have some average bloke.

He's a great coach without a shadow of a doubt, but it is because he does things like this which is why I think he would ultimately be a poor appointment.

It was a thinly veiled plea for a job that isn't currently available, to intentionally put that pressure on another manager (which could and have negative impacts on the club) in an attempt to try and secure himself a position, does not show the kind of character I'd want in a manager of our club.

That is without even considering his playing style (which I've not particularly been a fan of over the years).

Great manager in terms of success, but tends to be a short term fix to get a couple extra years out of a declining great team. He doesn't tend to build for the future, is particularly successful with developing young players, and rarely last more than 3 years at a club before it all implodes or he falls out with everyone.

Which his recent comments probably shed some light on why he might rub people up the wrong way and fall out with people.

I'd take a short term fix at this point. I'm sick of watching the dross week in, week out.

Where does this leave us with Berrarda? Surely he would've known something was up considering his position/s at City.

Realising he can't get as much money out of the Glazers.

Part of the reason for bringing in Berrada and Wilcox was because came from "best in class" football club Manchester City.

Now most of that "best in class" has been down to "cheating" and "financial doping", it puts their incompetence into more context.
