28.57%

That's 'Carrick at the Wheel's or as I will start to abbreviate CATW, win percentage this season.

Yes, forget last season everyone, as it doesn't matter a tosh for what is happening this season.

Win against Spurs and we jump to 37.5%! Lose, and we drop to 25%.

Why does this matter?

It is the stick that was used to beat down Amorim and that ultimately got him sacked. So let's repeat the process to ensure this season isn't totally written off.

Coincidentally, Amorim's win percentage after 7 games in his final season was 28.57%.

28.57% 😂

You've somehow managed to turn seven games of football into a mathematical case for sacking a manager, while simultaneously pretending context doesn't matter.

"Forget last season, it doesn't matter" followed immediately by comparing this season to Amorim's record from last season. Outstanding.

And the really brilliant bit is using a percentage after seven games as though you've uncovered some damning statistical trend rather than a microscopic sample size that changes dramatically with one result.
Lose to Spurs and it's 25%. Beat them and it's 37.5%. So apparently the manager's competence can fluctuate by 12.5 percentage points depending on one football match. Groundbreaking analysis.

If you're going to use CATW as your abbreviation, I think for you, Can't Analyse The Whole picture or, Calculating A Tiny Window is better.

You've taken seven games, removed all context, cherry-picked a comparison, and then congratulated yourself for finding a pattern.

That's not analysis, that's just a calculator having an argument.

Ed Woodward would be proud of these numbers 😂

At this rate you'll be putting #GlazersOut in your bio while simultaneously doing their recruitment for them!

"Don't worry lads, I've found the manager's win percentage after seven games. Get the P45 ready.".

JBR and in the first match this year he had 0% win rate. I understand you make all these because the Anti-Amorim kept saying in every match how bad the precedence of our winning was. But let it go mate.

27 Sep 2026 03:47:46
Yes Ports..the same way the anti Amorim gang couldn't see the bigger picture..
The irony of your counter arguments is the groundbreaking stuff here, champ.

I'm of course taking the Michael out of the anti-amorim brigade here Heaven, they will take their stupid arguments to their grave.

When that klan accept they f'ked up by pressing for his removal, I'll stop the same campaign for the removal of Carrick, but only if he wins against Spurs.

There can't be a United fan alive that accepts he continues if we lose to Spurs. Even the most delusional..

ED001,

I'm sure you probably already been asked this, but what would you like to see happen to City.

Realistically, what are you expecting will happen in terms of points deductions, fines, titles stripped and potentially relegation?

Personally, i think they will be given a hefty points deduction, which will ultimately put them in a relegation battle for the remainder of the season - it is the easiest and most convenient way to relegated City.

I'd certainly expect a large fine and a transfer ban for a number of windows.

Consequently, this has opened up a huge can of worms. Clubs will certainly seek compensation etc. The knock on effect og this could be astronomical.

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - I would like to see them kicked down to non-league football, the owners forced to sell and all titles stripped.

What I am expecting is a large fine and points deduction. Maybe a limited transfer ban, but I would expect they will have trouble enforcing a full one as players are likely to leave in droves if the points deduction is as much as it should be.}

26 Sep 2026 17:58:11
History books should not be kind to this type of systemic cheating. All titles stripped.

The owners/directors should now fail the proper person test (or whatever its called). I don't know if they can be forced to sell but they should not be allowed own a football club.

Points deduction that sends them down and a very long transfer ban should do the trick.

Any more fined, should be redistributed to lower league clubs.

Also on a side note, Omar should be put on leave until this is resolved. Either he was complicit in this at City or he didn't know and he's not good at his job. Either way, he should go.

The ripple effect of this is astronomical. I know we've been a meme club for awhile but we could have had a few more titles. Liverpool under Klopp would have absolutely dominated if City weren't cheating.

The more I think about it, the more I think the club should be wound up.

Personal opinion but I don't think the punishment can be that severe that it destroys the value of Manchester city football club as it will become a bigger political/geopolitical issue.

They are owned effectively by the United Arab Emirates who are a key ally of the United Kingdom in the region. Also large parts of the UK are reliant on foreign direct investment, like Canary Wharf, large parts of which are owned by Qatar. So don't think the UK government will want to show that they are hostile to foreign owners of UK assets.

Some of these charges also relate to inflated sponsorship deals by UAE state owned companies like "Etihad".

26 Sep 2026 20:19:18
I don't really care what affect it has on the country and if this punishment is more lenient because of politics then it's a total joke. They've cheated, like Lance Armstrong all of their trophies and titles now mean absolutely nothing.

Enjoyed the chairman coming out saying they will prove they are innocent, it's too late for that, you're already guilty. 114 times. You aren't getting away with 114 guilty verdicts on appeal.

Relegate them, wind them up. Everything about them is fake and hollow.

Should Berrada face consequences for his time at City?

26 Sep 2026 23:18:52
Should Arteta?

1

26 Sep 2026 13:06:15
City need to be harshly punished of course but something else I would like to see this whole episode lead to ( won't happen no doubt ), is a major review and changes in respect of football ownership, transfer fees, wages etc. The Premier League is a completely out of control runaway train and something needs to change.

I read the other day that PL clubs spent more on transfer fees in the summer window than the next 8 leagues put together. That can't be good for football.

26 Sep 2026 14:47:57
Yes, good luck with that. You are dealing with winner take all end times capitalism. Fueled by massive and successive injections of fiat currency debt, abetted by under-regulated corporate law, the very rich are making out like banshees, controlling politicians, bending the financial system and the law to their megalomanic interests.

Democratic governments have become largely powerless. Both Manchester clubs are examples of the same malaise, one massive petro-state owned, the other a debt laden vehicle divorced from the product that spawned it. Trump, Infantino are great examples of the corruption at the heart of football and our current reality.

The house of cards will crumble rather than be reformed.

Interesting bit of history here: Citeh have actually been through something vaguely similar before.

In 1906 they were found to have been making illegal payments to players, including Billy Meredith. The fallout was huge, players and directors were suspended, the team was effectively broken up, and Meredith and others ended up at United. Guardiola come on down.

If the current findings are as serious as being reported, I can't see an Everton/Forest-style points deduction being enough.

I think there are probably two routes.

One is a record points deduction, potentially large enough to relegate them. The problem then is that one season in the Championship hardly feels proportionate if the breaches were systemic over nearly a decade.

The cleaner option may be expulsion from the Premier League, which would then leave their future league membership largely in the hands of the EFL. I could easily see League Two being considered rather than simply dropping them into the Championship. A championship ship like Wrexham for example have a much lower chance of promotion next season if Citeh are there.

The difficult bit is maintaining the integrity of this Premier League season while the process plays out. A substantial points deduction now, followed by expulsion at the end of the season, is one possible solution I like and Citeh restart in League 2.

I'd also want historic titles from the affected period to be removed at a minimum, with reassignment potentially considered where there was an obvious runner-up. United would gain two Premier League titles. SAF +1, Mou +1. In ready for the bus parade seriously.

Then you've got compensation claims from clubs who lost prize money, European qualification and other revenue. I could see the Premier League trying to create some kind of central compensation mechanism rather than allowing dozens of separate claims to drag on for years. That in itself could do Citeh in. Think West Ham/Tevez/Sheff Utd.

Finally, the squad becomes another huge issue. I'd be surprised if top players don't have contractual protection around relegation, expulsion or loss of European football, this specie case, so Citeh could end up dealing with a major squad break-up as well.

🍿.

A large points reduction, this season, sufficient to relegate them.

Follow this by annual points reductions for the next, set number, of seasons, say 4 or 5. Don't let the pain be over quickly as that would not reflect the longevity of their rule breaking, and they could absorb a 12 month punishment without too much difficulty. Also I suspect they would retain their players.

Strict limits as to wages they can pay over the same time period. We would then see how 'loyal' many of their players are too the 'project'.

Utd Road, something I haven't seen mentioned and not sure on if it's something that can be enforced but surely they'll owners should have to sell up?!

Ports - you're on to something there.

The new gov regulations allow the IFR to review existing owners vs fit and proper standards.

Iwotb - EPL can't deduct points on EFL clubs.

0

26 Sep 2026 16:11:37
Utd Road, yes, sorry, points cannot be deducted on EFL by EPL as you say.

I did not present it right. The assumption being they would come straight back up from Championship and the future points deductions would then come into play. Effectively ruling them out of a title challenge for a set number of years.

Clearly, there is no punishment precedent here (never been such rule breaking) so it is all very much up in the air as to what punishment will be levied. Think it will have to be substantial to retain any credibility in whatever system is in place.

Agree to an extent.
From what I hear Carrick is different when the camera isn't there.

I'd say he lacks tactical adaptability and the ability to spot a problem or opportunity mid game. That does come with experience but I don't see it. I'd also question Woodgate, Evans and potentially Binnion. If you look at other Coaches like Carrick eg high profile ex players they are surrounded by elite coaches. Holland is a good example but you want that x3. Danks at Bayern was appreciated.

I've previously mentioned the strength conditioning fitness team are below average.

I think the FA have to go hard here. if Citeh get s red wrist or very weak punishment then que the rule breaking

Everton will also be watching hing closely.

The FA should hand City over to Big Sir Jim and the Glazers as punishment.

25 Sep 2026 18:58:07
Their spending this summer and last jan suggests to me that they knew a long tranfer ban was incoming at the very least.
Will be intersting to see how quickly it moves from here. My understanding is that the appeal process will have a definitive timeline.
Points defuction severe enough to relegate then is unlikely imo but we'll have to wait and see.

2

25 Sep 2026 19:07:21
I disagree ken. 114 guilty verdicts is deserving of a severe punishment, I would expect relegation.

7

25 Sep 2026 19:25:55
Everton were docked 6 for minor breaches.

City have done fraud if it's only a big fine and transfer ban others will do exactly the same.

Should be enough points do be dropped down two leagues minimum.
5 year transfer ban
Kick out of all fa competitions and stripped.

Look at the likes of rangers, juve and that for cheating.

Prem have to be strong or look fools.

6

25 Sep 2026 19:39:07
Relegation is a tricky one because the EPL and Championship would effectively have to agree on it, and City would have the right to appeal that to CAS.

I'd expect a two year transfer ban, and a big enough points penalty to take them out of European qualification, but not enough to relegate them.

3

25 Sep 2026 20:07:40
EFL wouldn't need to approve. If you gave them a points deduction that would effectively relegate them. They would just take one of the 3 relegation spots and go down.
I would say if 114 charges doesn't get you relegation from let's say a points deduction, then what would you have to do to get that punishment.

They cannot appeal to CAS Shap, this is purely internal for the Premier League.

1

25 Sep 2026 20:52:49
Not including all Premier League clubs including past PL clubs effected will be suing for lost positions, missed champions league spots, relegation. City players having clauses. Huge ramifications.

3

25 Sep 2026 20:53:44
Huge can of worms here.

Compensation claims from the other clubs / individuals affected incoming.

2

25 Sep 2026 22:35:53
I don't know how or where they will do it but there needs to be a line drawn in the sand for further claims by other teams/players.

Other than the titles other teams have missed out on:

1. Clubs that have lost revenue due to not qualifying for CL.
2. Players that have lost a wage increase based on lost CL qualification.
3. Clubs that have been relegated by the odd points having lost to City,
4. If they get relegated then the teams pushed out of that league or the team refused promotion to that league.
5. Other teams that have been sanctioned if punishment is not aligned to offences.

Just a few off the cuff. It's essentially endless the number of potential routes for litigation. Going to be interesting.

1

25 Sep 2026 22:51:20
Jay Bothroyd still waiting on his "kickback" from City for services rendered in 2012.

Deam Kiely probably still checking his bank account too — because after that Aguero shot, you'd swear everyone involved had been promised a bonus. 😂.

2

26 Sep 2026 02:52:31
80 point reduction, means 1 year of pointless play where they are sure they will go down. Then 1 year in championship, and soonest they can be back is year 3. Also out of Europe minimum of 2 years. That is a severe punishment.

Imagine the legal cases from clubs who lost out financially from this. This will go on for a long time.

2

26 Sep 2026 05:56:48
I know the charges only cover a certain period but surely the success after that wouldn't have happened (or very unlikely to) if it wasn't for the success in that period. Has anywhere said about that?

1

26 Sep 2026 09:24:46
80 point deduction and they would probably still end up finishing above us lol.

Ole Solskaer, Premier League winner 😁.

0

26 Sep 2026 09:42:50
The ripple effect this has caused is massive and I don't think it should be understated when it comes to sanctions. Clubs who have missed out on titles, top 4, European places, been relegated. Missed out on transfers. This is all within football. I don't know how it all works but surely they'll be law suits?

Then on top of that, what about betting companies who've paid out on City? The list of affected areas is huge.

0

26 Sep 2026 10:34:08
Law suits for breaking which laws ports.
Legality and breaking competition rules are very different things.

0

26 Sep 2026 10:42:11
The punishment definitely needs to be over a number of seasons otherwise it's pretty much pointless.

I'd imagine Villa and Newcastle owners are watching with interest as a weak punishment may lead them to think it's worth doing to break into the top echelons consistently. Whatever happens has to ensure that owners won't even think about doing this in future.

0

26 Sep 2026 10:45:41
That's a fair distinction, but it's not quite that simple.

I'm not saying that breaking a Premier League rule automatically means a criminal law has been broken. The point is that competition rules are still legally enforceable rules, and depending on the circumstances, a breach can potentially lead to civil claims as well as sporting sanctions.

If a club could actually demonstrate that City's alleged breaches gave them an improper advantage and directly caused that club a quantifiable financial loss, then the question of damages could potentially arise.

So yes, breaking competition rules and breaking criminal law are two different things. But "it's only a competition rule" doesn't necessarily mean there can be no legal action. The difficult bit would be proving the legal basis for the claim, causation and the actual financial loss.

1

26 Sep 2026 10:50:42
Relegation from the EPL and subsequent entry into the championship is only valid through "sporting measure". The Championship do not legally have to accept a team into their division that has been forcefully relegated as a punishment. Which makes it difficult for the EPL to relegate City as if they do not have a league to compete in then there are issues of forcing a club out of business.

It's unlikely that the Championship would refuse City entry, but it is something that would need to be negotiated before such a punishment was handed out. Would they want to accept a club that has the record City now has and with owners who weaponise their wealth. It's a risk, how can they be sure that City would adhere to the rules in the championship, and do they have the resources to challenge City legally if they didn't.

1

26 Sep 2026 11:14:03
I believe four clubs indicated they would take legal action (so far) and registered that earlier in the process, United were one.

As an example I believe United missed Champions League in 5th with City 4th on Goal Difference. Losing out on Champions League has significant financial loss implications and suspect that may form part of any claim and likely basis of similar claims.

I don't believe City, if the final conclusion is guilty, would be relegated immediately but suspect a very large points deduction would be considered to ensure relegation and that should be a starting point.

Pep leaving and the purchases made in summer may be an indication there was a suspicion this process was concluding.

2

26 Sep 2026 11:21:14
At least we don't have to worry about our owners using dishonest methods to inject money into the club. Then again, we did hire the man who was City's director of partnership sales at the time when the financial breaches (many of which related to funneling money through dodgy partnerships) occurred as our CEO.

Who knows. Berrada may be forced to step down, and his replacement might get rid of Wilcox and bring in somebody competent.

1

26 Sep 2026 11:31:42
Do Citeh have to be relegated and thus require the compliance of the championship? Can they not simply be expelled from the EPL and sort their own way back into the leagues from non league football?

2

26 Sep 2026 11:46:12
I backed us to win the league in 2012. Surely I can make a claim with William Hill. The list is endless.

1

26 Sep 2026 11:55:51
Citeh points deduction now. Expulsion by EPL member vote towards end of season.
Citeh to League 2. 🤝

PL: 3 promoted from Championship, only 2 relegated from PL
Championship: fewer relegated into League One
League One: fewer relegated into League Two
League Two: Citeh admitted as the additional incoming club.

1

26 Sep 2026 14:04:25
The problem with putting City into league 2 is that their stadium alone would mean that their running costs would exceed what they would legitimately make in that league, let alone player wages, settlements payments, contractual obligations, etc.

They wouldn't be able to legitimately compete within the financial restrictions. To be honest they would probably struggle to do so in the Championship, let alone any league below that.

While allowing them special dispensation to exceed the leagues financial rules then makes a mockery of the competitiveness of that league.

Then when you factor in the potential knock on effects to all those employed by City, and within the regeneration they have brought to the area around their stadium. Without the draw of a top EPL club and the revenue they draw into the area many of those businesses in the area would suffer.

While I might not be happy about it, wealthy individuals/groups/businesses line many pockets. All of those suffer when the guy at the top suffers.

1

26 Sep 2026 14:28:40
Honestly is the Citeh area that redeveloped or dependant.

The area is dead quiet, an Asda, Metrolink and Sports City.

The regeneration was started with sport city back in the early 2000s, Abu Dabbers did continue to invest and the city hardcore will go to the game still.

Lads all talk of manager, back room, upstairs etc. But these players need to starting working on the pitch, desire passion. Weather its the manager, captain, senior players that has to change. Our squad is good, but unless they make the effort we are lost. It's all about the culture, we need a strong work ethic culture being g driven by the manager and senior players.
